Nice camp ground. Many full timers but all very neat. Well cared for grounds. Camp sites a little close to each other but nicely laid out and plenty of room for a 40 ft coach and dedicated spot for a tow car to park. Concrete parking, asphalt drives, rock patio areas with table. Nice pet area. Spent two days in town and this was the nicest park we saw. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice laid out park. The sites are level and all on blacktop. As most RV parks the Wi-Fi does not work most times. There is some space between campers for a picnic table, but they are on loose gravel. My Verizon air card worked really well, internet was no problem. The rest rooms and showers were nice and clean but dated. Seems a little high for this place, but its one of the better ones in this area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very clean park with paved, level sites. Fenced dog park. Every building has a combo lock and a phone to call either management or 911. Big negative is the iffy Wi-Fi, so you better have an air card. WalMart within 2 miles. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Actually stayed here on monthly basis from July to October 1st. I gave it a 9 rating only because there are no planned activities. You may reserve the small clubhouse for any get together you may want to have. Staff is excellent. Sites are large with plenty of room for slides and parking. Each site has a large table. Has 2 pet areas, one enclosed. Also, it is next to a Bakery store which we love the convenience of but there is truck noise a couple of nights a week if you are a light sleeper, doesn't bother us. Nice laundry with plenty of machines and reasonable price. Looking forward to coming back next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is very clean and quiet. Management is very friendly and made us feel welcome. Level cement pads of a nice size with gravel and small trees between each site. Monthly rates available and we would consider this park for next year's summer vacation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very good park: friendly owners, immaculate rest rooms, level paved parking spaces with a pull-through so we didn't have to unhook for one night. The Wi-Fi worked very well. They have a fenced dog park so we could let our pups off leash. We would gladly return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I called in advance and reserved with the assumption from the website pictures that this would be a decent place to stay. When we arrived Saturday at 11:00am, we found that the office is closed on weekends (yes, at a campground), they had moved us from the site that I had reserved, and the sites had pavement only as wide as an RV and dirt everywhere else so when you stepped out of your RV, you stepped into dirt. They are also quite a ways from any in town conveniences. I contacted the phone number since the office was closed, and asked to cancel my reservation due to our dissatisfaction; they said they would charge me the one night stay because I hadn't canceled 24-hrs in advance. I stated my dissatisfaction of the campground, that nobody was there for information to check in, and that they had changed my site without notification. The gal on the phone didn't seem bothered at all by an unhappy camper, so we ate the $28 and went down the road. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The free WiFi worked great. There are paved level sites, and easy access for big rigs. There is no grass, just dirt other than where the rig sits. There is a nice dog area with burned out grass. It is not a bad place for a couple of days. There is very nice staff!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Wi-Fi still not working after our first visit 4 or 5 months ago- despite assurances that it has been improved. We were 30 feet from the Wi-Fi antenna and signal strength varied from poor to limited connectivity. The password is about 30 random characters and digits! Restrooms still very clean. Ambience is still concrete slab. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A very nice RV park. We stayed there June 2007. The park we had intended to stay at was full, and this was a second choice. The bath rooms and showers were immaculate and the sites were clean and well kept. The roads and slots are paved. They had WIFI, but were experiencing problems with their repeater and it was intermittent at our RV pad during our visit. The Park has Cable TV, with a good number of channels. Even tho they are not close to the ocean and somewhat difficult to find, this park stays very full during the Summer months and has quite a few long-term customers. We were quite fortunate to find an available space for the night. We would strongly suggest that you call ahead for reservations. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This CG has good access once you find it. It's not the easiest park to find. CG is mostly concrete but sites are large and mostly level. Some seasonal/permanent residents but their sites are well kept. Visual separation between sites is non-existent. Road noise is moderate and quiets down at night. Overall an OK overnight spot. Really a great, clean park, but in full sun it was way too hot. The trees are new and small. When they grow the park will be more inviting. The worst feature was the wind. It was so windy every afternoon that it would blow over lawn chairs and made putting down the awning impossible and blew out the BBQ when trying to cook. Getting to the site required going through the heart of town and it was not easy to find. Would I go back? No, with the exception of an overnight stay if nothing else was available. Maybe it's better at a different time of year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a very nice and clean park. The restrooms were clean and the laundry room was fine. Nice big pull-thrus and the parking spot for the tow vehicle was right beside the coach. The location was good and was close to stores and about 15 minutes from the ocean beaches. We definitely would go back to this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice quiet RV park. All sites are paved, and all interior and access roads are paved.
Close to downtown, hospital, beaches, shopping and movies. Weather is excellent in summer with high of 70-73 degrees and nights are 45-50 degrees, with a
light breeze most of the time. We stayed here in a 40' motor home in summer of 2003 We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have stayed in many RV Parks and this by far is the worst one that we have stayed in. There is a loading station for trucks directly behind the sites. Approximately every 3-5 minutes there is very loud crashing and banging, all night long. Starts at 1100pm. I went to take a shower and it was filthy. While I was in the shower, the lights went out 3 times. Each time for 2-3 minutes. It was complete darkness. The entire property was not maintained. The man at the desk was extremely rude to say the least. When I told him about the lighting in the bathroom, he replied, "I know about it, it has been like that, but I am not in charge of that." When I asked about the TV channels, he said, "we took out the cable". When I told him, the bathrooms were disgustingly dirty, he said "that wasn't his department". This place has a major problem. I asked if there was any kind of discount for all the problems. He answered No. "I can't do that." Avoid this place if possible. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This is our third time here in the last 10 years and this park has everything we want (except an oceanfront location) in a coastal Oregon RV park: FHU, 70+ channel cable, WIFI at your site, adequate sites, and walking proximity to town. Safeway and Fred Meyer are just minutes outside the park and downtown is maybe 20 minutes. This factor makes it more convenient than some of the other parks in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I have stayed at this nice park a number of times. I was lucky and got space 20, which backs up to the river. Sites 20, 21 and 22 are the best in the park. Site 21 is a nose-in onto the river. The park is getting a little seedy - more so than last year. I suspect the Mill Casino's RV Park in North Bend may be taking some of the business, and the newer park in Winchester Bay [25 miles north] may be giving the park some competition. Lucky Logger is next to a Fred Meyer and Safeway - easy walking distance. I'm not sure I will stay a Lucky Logger in the future. It needs a face lift. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It has been about 5 years since we have stayed here and it was good to see that this older park is still very good. Most sites are back-in with a maybe 20 back-to-backs and a few pull-thrus. They may be too close together for some folks and too short for some of tody's bigger RVs. Facilities include full hookups, 70 channel cable, and WIFI. Plenty of things are within walking distance: shops, stores, restaurants, and even an RV dealer within blocks and the center of town is less than a mile. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I have stayed at this fine park a number of times. See my May 2006 review. Managers are still doing a great job. Ask him for a golf game. He is addicted. If you have a motor coach ask for site 21 - a nose in. And sites 20 and 22 are very nice - back-ins on the river. The $25 rate was based upon paying $166 for a week. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Checked in without the RV being available, as we got here before check in time. We were checked in, and because there was a mix up in the reservations, we had to move after 2 days to another site for the last day. There was no charge for that last day. Park looks tight, but upon arrival with the unit, there was no problem getting into either site. Paved streets, with hedge rows between each site. Very friendly person on check in. If they had a pool, would consider a longer stay. Will put on places to stay next time we are in the area. Rate reflects Passport America. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park was clean. Turn around office was tight with 40' motorhome. Wi-Fi signal was so weak we couldn't connect. Our spot was near the entrance. Back-in space was large and nice. Our big knock was price. They advertise a 50% discount for Escapees. When I checked in I was told the normal rates are $70 for a pull through and $60 for a back-in, FAR too high. We paid $30/night for back-in. The person who is supposed to take care of propane had his "do-not-disturb" sign out at 9:30 even though he is supposed to be available after 9:00. Not convenient from 101. We stayed 3 nights. We would not stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate shown Passport America discount. Park road signage needs improvement as it was not clear where the office was and it was awkward to get into my assigned site. Site a fairly large paved and level back-in with hedges for privacy on the sides. For some strange reason the backside has no privacy and the RV in the site back of me was too close for comfort. The utility post was facing the wrong way and awkward to use. Good cable TV. Wi-Fi was intermittent. I had no luck with cell phone either, but it could have been my provider, Tracfone. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here four nights. The park is perfect with only one down side. I was not comfortable going for a walk outside the park due to the neighborhood it is located. This is unfortunate as everything is immaculate within the park. It is quiet, clean, well maintained, a nice smaller size and has pretty flowers throughout. You will never find a better shower situation; it is an individual, private, locked room nicer than our bathroom at home! In spite of the walking situation, it is probably the best place to stay in Coos Bay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice place for an overnight stop. All the sites are completely paved. There is a tall hedge between the sites. A picnic table is provided. Sites are plenty wide enough for our 4 slide outs. This park has mainly long term residents. The roads are plenty wide and access is easy. We were in a back in site, but it was long enough we did not have to unhook from our tow vehicle. The pet area is central to the sites. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Really nice RV park. Rated in top 100 of Sam's Club. Paved roads and sites with about 8 foot tall trimmed hedges between the sites. Definitely the cleanest place we've ever parked. Only drawback we had was that we had to stay in the space right next to the highway and had to use earplugs to sleep. All other spaces quiet enough. Must drive to do anything as nothing is near park but that's OK, the cleanliness and staff were great. Big sites as this was probably once a trailer park and completely cleaned up and renovated to top notch condition. Mostly back in spaces but plenty of room to maneuver. We will definitely stay again. This is a well maintained, busy campground. All areas are black-topped except for a few strips of vegetation between sites. We were assigned to a site near the road and always heard traffic noise. Our site was 40' long and 30' wide with an eight foot high hedge on three sides so we didn't have to look at the dirty, poor maintained trailers on either side of us. The folks who ran the park were friendly and accommodating as we changed our reservations twice. Our picnic table was broken and unusable. Our rate was half priced as we are Camp Club USA members. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate is daily 50 amp FHU rate with Passport America discount. Notice some of the other reviews talk about the huge sites, obviously they were never given site 39. And let's just hope the person in the office wasn't incompetent, they were merely having a bad day. Many of the sites are fairly large and the open areas where you drive vary from very open to tight, with everything being asphalt. The site we eventually got, a back-in we could actually fit in, had the water and electric in the center of the site and the sewer at the very extreme rear. They also tried to charge us the full rate even though we had said we had PA, and had the card out. While this park is definitely much nicer than the other parks in the area, you might get the feeling they are trying to take advantage of you because of that. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The site we were in was huge! All of the sites are good-sized. "Clean" does not describe the park's condition: there was a man cleaning the lampposts and hookup boxes every day with some type of feather duster. Incredibly helpful staff. The "highway" is not loud at night at all - there is vehicle activity in the mornings. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the class act in Coos Bay. Everything is upgraded and spotless. A large number of the sites are occupied by long term residents who are obviously proud to reside there. The sites are super sized . A rig, car, boat and other toys can spread out in one paved level site and still enjoy the privacy of the hedges that separate each site. This goes for the pull through sites even though the site map doesn’t show this. There’s a little noise from the highway but given that there are no, non- highway alternatives to Midway so this can’t figure in the scoring. Charleston (all the fresh pacific fish you can eat) and the State parks with their coastal grandeur and facilities are just two and four miles south respectively. We stayed for 4 days over the 4th of July and probably would have stayed longer if our schedule permitted. The campground sponsored a great cook-out and we got to meet a lot of the residents-who by the way don't write reviews. It is not a great place for kids given the mature composition of the occupants. Dog provisions were adequate and well maintained If you like the Casino, a bus picks up periodically - on site. For the mature camper who values ambiance and like minds this place is a real value. We’d return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We booked here as we thought this park was Big Rig Friendly. Really is not. Our rate was based on one of the camping clubs we belong to; apparently there are few spots that would accommodate us. We were put right up against the very noisy and busy road, site number 43. Directly across from us is a much longer pull through; ours was a back in which is virtually impossible to get in. If you are longer than 40' then please request that you not be given this site. I have no idea why this park has gotten such high ratings, unless all the live in guests have given high ratings. The "spa" is a whirlpool-type bathtub in the bathroom at the check in office. It's a hollow door plywood partition from the office and "quilting bee" area. Definitely would not pay to use the tub. Appeared clean, but too close for comfort. Cameras apparently in use to make sure you clean up after your pet. Pet area is a 25 ft. X 40 ft. (approx.) sand area with an open bucket to dispose of dog waste. Not pet nor big rig friendly. I would bypass Coos Bay altogether if I had known. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice RV park. Well landscaped and maintained. Tall hedges between pads is special. Be careful some pads have utilities at rear for a long, long sewer hose stretch. Check first before accepting space. Many long termers, mostly newer units. Park location is within 20 minutes of most things in town. No scenic views from park. They would not take reservations for Passport America rate, only on first come first served basis. Free WiFi was good when working 80% of the time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We have enjoyed two extended stays at this park in the past two years, and we are reserved for the month of July this year. The park and its facilities are spotlessly clean, and the location is quiet. The only drawback to this park is the necessity to drive to any of the many recreational and scenic destinations in the area. In fact, there is no public access to the bay nearby. Cape Arago Highway is a primary access road that for anyone wanting to visit the Charleston area. However, the park's location is very convenient if you don't mind a short drive. The staff is friendly and available. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is truly a great campground. Great location. Accepted the Passport America rate. We ended up staying the third day. Laundry was a little expensive. Staff is very nice. All paved roads and sites; level. There is an Indian casino that appeared to accept free overnighters a couple of miles away. We would definitely go back should the need arise. We used a campclub membership for a discounted rate. Park was full and typically the discount programs cannot be used here except October through May. This park was clean and all paved, and sites were large enough, but did require parking your vehicle in the site, which took up part of the usable area. Directions in campclub book take you up Newmark Ave, a narrow, steep uphill turn off 101. The better way to go is with the signs off 101 toward Ocean beaches (Virginia Ave). We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were pleased to have a friendly welcome to a very well maintained park. There is someone who does check and clean the site before and after you leave. Amazing. We were glad to see the roads and sites paved. Each site is divided by hedges. The park is the only place to stay on the road - as someone else mentioned, it is a true oasis. Close to the ocean along with restaurants and whatever else you might enjoy. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A really great park! We stayed there in mid-June, 2007. When we arrived, we found that they were full for the day. Since they had one space available the following day they called around locally and found a very nice park for us to spend that night. The next day we returned and they accepted our PA discount for the three days we stayed with them. Everyone in the office was extremely helpful to us. The park was clean, had nice wide spots with tall bushes between them for privacy, and excellent WIFI and TV cable. In all, a quiet, comfortable RV park. I strongly recommend you get reservations, as the park was fully booked all the time we were there. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park, but not our cup of tea. Long, wide sites with all utilities including 60 channels of clear cable, and on-site wifi. Actually they have 3 nodes that cover the park well. As to "cup of tea" we prefer a bit more rustic. This is a very well developed park with hedgerows between each site for privacy, but it is tightly packed. Not in contrast to above, sites are large, but there is no wasted space. For those who like a hotel like atmosphere with all the amenities, this will be just great. Will take the largest rigs easily. Enjoyed the stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

As in the previous post, don't be worried by what you pass on the road to get here. It's a very pleasant surprise oasis when you arrive. People are very friendly and helpful, very clean (first place I've seen in a long time that actually does site checks after people leave) so you know you're coming into a clean site!!! A great breath of fresh air, people that actually care and it shows!! Nice and quiet at night too; best sleep I've had in awhile. We'll definitely stay here again when in the area. As for the long list of rules, if there weren't so many inconsiderate campers out there, then campgrounds wouldn't have to post so many rules. Happy trails! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful Park in the Coos Bay area. As you drive down the Cape Arago highway you'll see numerous run-down RV parks and wonder if you should just turn around! Midway RV however is a jewel on this highway! All paved sites, all 50 AMP, friendly staff, impecably landscaped! The owner really took pride in this park and it shows! They do have quite a few rules, so if you are the type that don't like rules then find another place to stay. They require jack pads, or wood blocks because of the new asphalt they just invested in, so be prepared to have some on hand, if not they will provide you with some loaners. Overall a beautiful park, and as far as we've seen so far the nicest in the area! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice, well maintained park. Roads and sites are asphalt. Sites are separated by hedge. There are lots of shrubs, flowers, wood sculptures and decorative lamp posts. They have big rig sites. They have two pages of rules (don't stay here if you don't want to obey rules). They didn't bother us because we always obey the rules in all parks we stay at. Rules make the park a much nicer place and make the visit much more enjoyable. Their advertising says they cater to seniors. We did see some children visiting. They had free WiFi that worked great inside our motorhome. You have to drive thru a rather run down part of town to get to the park, but once there, the park is worth it. We would definitely stay there again if in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great place for the ATV/Off-Road enthusiast! Easy access to the dunes and the spots were great. Ride in the sand all day and rest within the trees on large and level sites. And the camp hosts are very friendly and always accessible. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I don't remember the exact amount we paid, but it was close to $25. We stayed here in a 40' RV. It was a little tight, but we made it. It is a nice campground & you can walk to the beach. There were tons of blackberries growing when we were there. The gardens at Shore Acres were very pretty. There were still roses in bloom & the Dahlias were spectacular. It was a close drive to Bandon, Coos Bay & Charleston. We didn't get cell, internet, or TV so we did a lot of reading when we weren't out sightseeing. If you're using a GPS, be careful, ours took us off 101 & Across a very narrow, winding road with low hanging trees. Not good with a big rig. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice campground, however they had said big rig were not a problem so we picked a site that was one of the largest. The park layout is OK, however the sites are a straight back in, not on a slant, so yes it was difficult to get the 40' 5er into the spot, but we did it. The cell phone reception is very poor. We had to go down to the beach in able to make a call, so our cellular data card didn't work to well either. We couldn't pick up any TV and there would be no way to get your dish sighted in. The trees here are very tall and a lot of them. There are no sites that are not always shaded. The other thing that really bothered me is they only a few sites with sewer, but they don't have a dump station for the camp, AT ALL..? Other than those things it's a beautiful camp about 1000' from the beach, nice paved walking/biking trails, up the road is a beautiful botanical garden that is part of the state parks so your entrance fee is your campground parking tag. All in all not a bad spot. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Another favorite park of mine to go to. We always get one of the first three spots on the right as you come in because there you can get cell service and HD TV. If you are only spending one night, this is kind of a drive back in there on windy roads, but for three or four days its worth it. Great Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is beautiful! We only stayed one night but will be sure to stay for at least a week in the future. Very clean throughout the park. Bathrooms were nice and the landscaping makes you feel like you're in the rain forest. Just beautiful. Blackberries growing all over so we picked a bunch and made a fresh blackberry cobbler! This is a beautiful park located right on Sunset Bay with great hiking and tide pools just a walk away. We stayed in site b03 and was secluded with lots of greenery and bushes between sites. No TV reception and due to trees no satellite signal. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great family friendly park. The roads are very narrow, we had trouble getting our 31' travel trailer into our site in the "D" loop. We travel with 3 dogs who love to swim in the water so we had to drive to another beach for this purpose. We camped here the end of July and never did see the sunshine. We did not actually stay at the campground. We tried to but could not. When I called while in route I was told there were many spaces available that would hold our 40 foot motorhome. We were 30 minutes out. When we got there, the lady said there was one spot we could get into, it was 40 foot and to drive the motorhome to it and park and come back. We drove in and there was no way we could even try to back it into the spot. Besides, there was another RV already in the spot. The road was too small to hold "big rig" rv's as the state ad said in the Woodall's directory. This campground was listed as one of those that was for "Big Rigs". So, from what we could tell, don't try this park if you are a large rv. In fact a guy at the window behind me said he had a hard time getting his 34 foot trailer in a 38 foot site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

First of all this park should have been listed under the city of 'Charleston' rather than Coos Bay as it is closer. If you are looking for parks in this area take a look under Charleston to get a better idea of what is available. As with all the Oregon State Parks we have visited this park is well kept and clean. The park lays in a gully and is heavily forested. During the winter months the campground only receives about 1 hour give or take of direct sunlight making the park cold dark and a little claustrophobic feeling. We saw several sites that would accommodate rigs up to around 38' with a toad but over that you are pushing your luck. The nearby hiking trails along the coastal cliffs are a must to see and absolutely beautiful. For the same money we will stay at nearby Bastendorf County Park next time which is identical in appearance but has many more sites that can accommodate larger (up to 40') rigs with ease and has a little less cover and more sunlight. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful and friendly campground but not really suitable for 40 foot motorhome unless you are very lucky. We had reservations and tried two different sites that were technically long enough, but because of the slopes and very tight roads and sites, we had to leave. Would not have had room for our toad. Moved to Oceanside RV, an older park on the beach about a mile away and were quite happy. Enjoyed the beach and hiking here though. Botanical Garden is lovely. Wish we could have stayed here. Sunset Bay is amazing but we were disappointed with the actual campsite. On the first night there a group of rowdies arrived and kept us awake. The host just across the road seemed oblivious! Does anyone know what these Hosts do? All they did when we were there was sell firewood and they were not very friendly, and wouldn't even make eye contact. The beach is an easy 5 minute walk under the highway, safe yes, but sometimes flooded! The beach is awesome with tide pools to explore and you can take your dog (on leash) on the beach. Ranger will ticket you if the dog is not on leash as some guy found out! The Rangers need to be more active with trouble makers. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are very shaded, cool and always damp even if there is no rain. It is very close to the ocean, about a 5 minute walk and wheel chair accessible. It is a great beach for exploring after the tide has gone out. Dogs are allowed on the beach on leash, watch out the rangers will ticket if you have your dog off leash! A spectacular setting. Sunset Bay itself is spectacular and there's great hiking and wildlife viewing nearby as well has some spectacular gardens. Most sites are very well shaded. Nearby trails along the rocky coast are amazingly beautiful and a joy to us and our dogs. Although the camp is across the highway from the sea, there's a pedestrian tunnel under the highway making it safe for kids and pets. Some sites are tough to get into with a trailer, and the booking website will let you know which ones might be tough. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice state park, very clean all around. The RV spaces are very limited if your rig is over 35 feet though. Space D31 fit our 34 footer plus truck, but little room to spare and this was one of the largest spaces there. Easy hike to the beach, very quiet and pristine. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a great time at Sunset Bay. Our kids had a wonderful time collecting shells and exploring the tide pools which are just a short walk from the campground. If you stay between Thanksgiving and New Years, be sure to see the lights at nearby Sunset Bay Botanical Gardens. The display is absolutely amazing and the admission is free with your paid camp site. The campground is heavily wooded so there is little sunlight in the winter, even on sunny days. The park is very clean and the camp hosts were great. The showers adjacent to the yurts are newer and quite nice with individual locking doors. Worth the short walk from the main camp if you wish to shower. All facilities were immaculate. This is the one for kids! With a sheltered bay, small camp loops, a FANTASTIC interpretive program with a center and evening programs, included free admission to Shore Acres and Cape Arago, this is a hidden gem in the world class Oregon Parks system. Sunset Bay attracts the best volunteers, and the Interpretive and other Rangers are top flight. Because the park is very much loved, the sites tend to be "hogged out" by summers end, so don't expect manicured grass - expect no grass. But do expect clean everything, friendly people, and if you have any kind of right attitude, you WILL leave smiling. I prefer the perimeter spots, but even a center tent spot is passable with a self contained RV. The only real challenge to Sunset Bay if you are unlucky and don't get a full hook site - you have to travel several miles up the road to a county site to empty your tanks. It's easier to get into Sunset Bay weekdays - and you can easily spend a week just taking in all this park has to offer. This year Labor Day was bad for Sunset Bay, with a death and more than one serious fall, and yet staff handled things with amazing professionalism under challenging circumstances. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful state park. Only a short walk to the ocean, and plenty of things to see to keep you busy for at least a week. Including crabbing in nearby Charleston. Only a few sites for big rigs. Lots of trees, limited TV reception and no cell phone reception. But beautiful campsite. Reservations are a must. Especially on weekends. The location is actually about 12 miles south of Coos Bay town. A nice little camp site and the location was a short stroll along a path to the beach and day-use area. A little out of the way if you want to enjoy the Oregon Dunes. If the pad was a little bigger so that we wouldn't be in mud (it had rained before we arrived), and the fire-pit was surrounded by mud. Lots of trees and bushes so lots of shade which is great if it's hot but in the cooler days there's little sunlight to warm you up. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
