The bathrooms were outdated and smelled. The bathroom was filthy. I would never stay here again. The campground is out in the middle of nowhere. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

If you want peace and quiet, this is the perfect place to be. But to us that was the only reason to stay here. It is rather difficult to get to in our 40 ft. motorhome. The road is narrow with low hanging branches. Our site was very uneven and it was rather hard to level our rig. There was no designated spot for a dog walk, so we were always afraid we were somewhere we shouldn't have been. There was cable at each spot, but it was only available if you were staying for the season - not very accommodating. It was close to Providence, Newport, and Mystic. I don't think we would ever stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped at Oak Embers the first weekend it was open (1st weekend in May), and it was not really ready for weekend guests. The office was locked when we got there, and after calling 2 numbers on the door, got hold of someone who was certain we didn't have a reservation (we did). She came over to the campground (took about 20 mins) and DID find our reservation, just where it was supposed to be. Not much of any apology, just an "oh well"! Actually saw her a couple more times and she was very nice - so we'll put it down to early season mixups. The sites have had recent electrical and sewer upgrades, which is nice. However the ground is torn up and muddy from the digging in many spots. Our water had quite a bit of sediment in it. Some sites were unlevel (in the woods, "C" section). Others looked ok. Bathrooms were decent, showers are pay. Not much of a playground at all and the pool looked on the small side. On the plus side, its in a beautiful section of Rhode Island, adjacent to the Arcadia Wildlife Management area. Very quiet, lots of creeks, and ponds. We might go back later in the year to see if it "feels" better with more people - there were only a handful camping with us. Oh, and its owned by the campers association now, so they do have a vested interest in keeping it up. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
