GREAT family oriented campground only minutes away from downtown Charleston. Shuttle available for transport to downtown area. Splash pad and water park are great for the kids. Lots of walking and riding trails. Well maintained and clean. Our visit fell after the area had several days of heavy rain leaving many of the sites with standing water and no real place to drain. Restrooms and bath houses were clean and stocked. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a well maintained campground located within a county park, with full hookups and helpful friendly staff. Roads are paved and the pad is hard packed dirt. There is a security gate at night. Some sites are back in and others are pull through; big rig access is fair. Quiet, with some space around the RV but not much privacy. There are shade trees, grass, and a picnic table. The bathrooms are clean and modern but the laundry which is located outside is dirty, and the machines are old and covered in dust, with few clean places to wash or fold clothes. In hot weather this would be unbearable, no a/c and lots of bugs! There is a large off-leash dog park with access to the water. Plenty of recreation is available within the park along with lots of lovely bike and walking trails. The few planes that did fly over the campground did not bother us at all. Wi-Fi is good but cell service marginal. Publix, restaurants, and great sightseeing are close by, one of the perks of this campground, and probably why it is so popular. We would stay here again, however we would pick a better site next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful park located close to all points of interest in Charleston. The sites are large back-ends with extra large picnic tables and fire rings. Bike paths are numerous and there is a large lake for fishing (no license needed). Management was very friendly. We would stay there again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground within a county park. Campsites are large and mostly level with good shrubbery and vegetation. Bathrooms are newer and clean and there are laundry facilities at the bathroom buildings. There are convenient dumpsters and recycling throughout the campground. We appreciate it when campgrounds are socially responsible and offer recycling. There is a lot of recreation available within the park for a reasonable fee - climbing walls, kayaking, paddle boats, bike rentals. There is also a very popular dog park and miles of bike/hiking trails. WiFi is decent. Campground staff was friendly and helpful. The campground location is very good with lots of things to do nearby. The only improvement we could suggest would be cable connections. Note that some of the roads getting into the park have low hanging branches, so watch out! We camped here in a Motorhome.

RV park is part of a very large county park that has many amenities, including walking/biking trails, large dog park, large kid's playground and a climbing wall. Park is nicely maintained. RV park is heavily wooded with the roads being paved and the sites being packed dirt/gravel. Sites are fairly level, long and well spaced. You can get local TV channels, but satellite service may be a problem in the majority of spaces. Most of the pull through sites appear satellite service would work. Park is quiet and the staff is very helpful. Easy drive into Charleston, or you can take a daily shuttle from the park ($10 round trip). I highly recommend this park and we plan on staying again when back in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful park and very nice campground. Check in was easy and even though we changed our reservation after we got there, it was a very simple process. The staff are friendly and professional. The sites are large, level, and easy to get in and out of. The roads are all paved. The sites are gravel. There were many big rigs here so it appears to be very big rig friendly. The park has a splash park in the summer, a huge dog park with a lake the dogs can swim in, boat rentals, cabin rentals, the list goes on. This is the nicest overall campground we have stayed in. It is only 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

James Island County Park, Charleston, SC – February 15 and 16. This is a county park and it is beautiful. The bathrooms in our loop are being updated but that was fine. This is a beautiful, big park with great bike trails. The sites are nice and they do have full hookups. Check in was quick and the workers were nice and very informative. This park is open year round and their Holiday Festival of Lights from mid November to late December is very popular. The park offers a lot -salt and fresh water fishing, off leash dog park, bike trails, playground, cottages, shuttle service to Charleston, playground area, water splash area, kayak rentals and hiking trails through the marshes with birds, turtles, alligators and geese. The cost depends on the discounts you have Good Sam etc and others. Need to follow the directions from the campground not your GPS. This is our second visit to this park and we will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is my first review, after having been guided by the reviews of others for 3 years. This is the best RV park we have stayed in. It was a total delight. Staff were friendly, responsive and helpful. Sites were large and shaded. Everything worked. Lack of cable TV was no problem since many channels were available via the antenna. Park was quiet and removed from main roads. We could see how much fun a family would have in the summer, when all the facilities of the whole park were up and running. Book early and stay late. This place is excellent. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I love this park! Over 600 acres of property with walking paths, playgrounds, fishing dock, swing chairs, splash park and a dog park. The staff are all friendly and helpful, our spot was pretty level, large with lots of trees and plants for privacy and all hookups worked great. What a beautiful place to stay in while visiting the Charleston area and its so close to everything. No cable hookups but antenna picked up several channels and internet is spotty but who needs internet when there's so much wonderful nature here to see? I will definitely be back here! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great location for visiting Charleston. Huge park, nice people. The only issue is no cable and trees could be issue with your satellite dish. I wish the county would pave the sites.. Rate was a winter weekly special. This county park is lovely. HUGE dog park, lake, playgrounds, many walking trails. The 600+ acres are very well maintained and managed. The staff is top notch. The sites are quite level and gravel. Internet works well, no cable TV, but local stations came in fine. Great place to enjoy Charleston, and a great park if you have a dog!!! James Island County Park is our favorite place to spend New Year's Eve. Not only is the campground beyond beautiful, the staff are warm, friendly, caring, and always willing to go beyond the second mile to help. We love the Christmas light display and special New Year's Eve festivities that include a large sand sculpture, Christmas store, marshmallow roasting, Christmas cafe, train ride through the lights, amusement park rides, special displays, and fireworks display. We love staying at this campground in the summer as well as we thoroughly enjoy the water park. The campground itself is beautiful with breathtaking landscaping, a wonderful dog park, and nice, paved bicycle trails. The Wi-Fi signal is clear and doesn't seem to overload even when the campground is crowded, the restrooms are clean with abundant hot water, and during the summer they have special fun activities for the entire family. We really, really love this campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice "natural" sites. Lots of trees. Reasonable space. Gravel pads but all looked quite level. I saw only back-ins. Wi-Fi was good. Local channels on antenna. Picnic tables in rather poor shape, but otherwise a great place to stay. We have not yet explored the rest of the park but the RV area would be on our list again for the future. We will stay this time for a full week We camped here in a Motorhome.

The good: full hook up county park unusual, nice dog park and walking path. A real bonus to be there during the Festival of Lights that runs from Nov 9 to New Years, probably the best CHRISTMAS light tour we have ever seen and free to campers! The not so good: We have a 40 ft Motorhome with a 12' 7" clearance and our antenna whips got a real workout with overhanging limbs on the main county entry road. When we mentioned to the campground check in person that she might want to talk to the county about trimming limbs, she blew us off and said if these motorhomes get bigger they will ruin our canopy of trees. Also, it rained, not that heavy, but we had a lake form in front of our campsite as did many other spots, so drainage not the best. many sites were narrow but the person on the phone worked with us to find a wider one, the sites are plenty long enough. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our second most favorite campground, after Topsail Hill Reserve. The sites are large and fairly private and mostly level gravel. There are miles of paved trails for dog walking in the park and a dog park on a lake. The staff is very friendly and maintains the park very well. It is very clean and quiet, even though it is very busy. Both AT&T and Verizon have pretty good service. It is an easy 15 minute drive to downtown Charleston. We have been here every year for the last five years and it is aways the same - clean, peaceful, convenient, near a wonderful historic city. We always end up extending our stay! There are about 10 sites that will work with a fixed satellite dish but you need to walk around yourself and find them. We have stayed in the other campgrounds in the area but much prefer James Island. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park. Park rangers were very helpful. Access to campground was very good off Harbor View Rd. Access to downtown Charleston easy via James Island Expressway - 12-15 minutes top. Roads in park were hard surface, with all sites back in, fairly level and spacious. No satellite service due the large amount of trees. This is a beautiful park to bike ride or hike in. Numerous good safe trails. We were there while they were setting up the Christmas lightning, which is visited by locals every year. We had a night viewing by bike riding. This county park has many visitors every night. This county park has many visitors every day, that far exceeds the RV community. This is a park we would definitely stay in again.

This campground is located within a large county park on James Island. It offers many paved biking/hiking paths and a fantastic outdoor play area which makes it great for kids. There is a splash water park that is opened seasonally for an additional fee. The sites are fairly close together but well separated by understory. Water, electric, and sewer on site all work well. The park offers Good Sam discounts which saves you 10%. It is a great location to visit both historic Charleston and Folly Beach. You will want to make reservations well in advance as they have heavy usage. The campground has rental cottages nearby which allows you to vacation with non-camping friends and family. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were in site 114 and, although it was tight maneuvering a 40' RV into it, it was great. Unhook area is level as was our site. Trees and shrubs give privacy at many sites. Good 50A service and water pressure. Nice laundry area and only $1.50 per load to wash and $1.50 to dry. Recycle bins for aluminum, plastic, paper, and glass. Hiking, biking, dog walking paths all over the park. Dog waste bag stations in many places along paths. Campers get free admission to facilities. Dog park is surrounded by water with swimming area for dogs. Small dogs have a separate area. We hope to come back and stay longer. Very nice campground with friendly staff and campers. We camped here in a Motorhome.

In my opinion, this is the best campground in Charleston. It is convenient to downtown, clean, friendly people, safe, lots to do in the park. This is such a family friendly park. There is a water park on site, playgrounds, dog park, and there are always activities going on. The rate is great for all you get! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Terrific facility. A little hard to find, and we found some of the roads leading to it to be a little tight. The place was full but it didn't seem crowded. Very clean and well maintained. Nice level site. Tons of kids but we weren't bothered by them. Close to Charleston, which is its major attraction to us. The only problem is the place is so popular that you clearly need to reserve far in advance if you want to be here on a weekend. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Parked here for easy access into Charleston as I was informed they had a shuttle for a 10 dollar return journey. A bit disappointed on arrival to learn that they only went in at 9.00 a.m. and picked up at 4.00 p.m., other times would have been more convenient. However staff were helpful and friendly and the park is wooded and shaded with paved roads. There is a splashzone/pool but you have to pay to go in - 8.00 dollars I think. Good for its access to the city but would have preferred more choice in times. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park puts most privately-owned campgrounds to shame! Paved interior roads, level and spacious gravel sites, all with at least partial shade. Utility hook-ups are solidly built and intelligently placed. Shrubs & trees shield your site from your neighbor. The park is clean and the buildings are well-kept. Restrooms and showers very modern and clean. A long list of scheduled activities and access to recreation areas in the park. In spite of being nearly 100% occupied the campground is quiet. Office staff very personable and helpful. This should be your campground of choice in the Charleston area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park should have a higher rating than 10. So impressed that it is maintained by the county and not a private park. The roads are paved, campsites level, nice size with buffers for privacy. Great walking/cycling/running trails. Wonderful family facility with a dog park, water park, climbing wall, dock for fishing, boat/kayak/canoe rental. The shuttle into the Charleston Visitor Center is very convenient and at $10 round trip it's close to what you would have to pay to park your car without the hassle. We will go back here. We stopped at James River for 2 nights on our way to Myrtle Beach. The campground was great, the sites were a good size and with a nice buffer between the sites. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The inner site access roads were paved and wide enough to handle big rigs. We used the campground's shuttle service into Charleston’s Visitors Center which was very convenient and reasonable at $10 per person round trip. The shuttle driver was a campground Work Kamp resident and was very friendly and informative. This is a wonderful Campground to stay at to visit Charleston or just relax. Wi-Fi was good. We stayed in a full hookup, 50 amp, pull-through site. We will return again and stay longer next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is what an RV park should be. Sites are level and large with enough privacy from the other sites. Access in and out is good. The dog park is ideal for Fido to run free & safely. Park staff is friendly. Location is close enough to Downtown to be convenient. Our water pressure was a little low, but Wi-Fi worked well. We will be back, hopefully for a little longer. The campground is located in a very large, well maintained county park. Roads are paved, but the campsites are packed lime-rock. A few pairs of sites share common entries, so those sites are not as wide as the single entry sites. A few mosquitoes are expected in the low-country, but they did not interfere with any activities. Wi-Fi worked well. The park is located conveniently with travel time of about 10 minutes to downtown Charleston. A GPS is very helpful. If traveling up Ashley River Road to visit the plantations, be sure to stop at Sunflower Cafe for breakfast/lunch. We look forward to another visit to James Island. This is a very nice place! First of all the staff is very nice and helpful. They have a shuttle that takes you into historic Charleston (for $10) and a little store that sells everything from firewood to ice cream. The site we were in needed to have the fire ring moved or the tree cut back, and hopefully they will address that before the tree burns down. On the negatives, the sites were grass and the restrooms are nice and clean but not private. Watch your top getting to this place (low trees everywhere). We camped here in a Truck Camper.

The campsites are on slanted dirt lots which flood when it rains. The staff are not very friendly. The area is infested with mosquitoes. The restroom floors and shower floors were covered in dirt. The campground is designed for tent campers and for people that do not suffer from smoke filled air. Definitely not worth the trip. Charleston, SC is a great place to visit, but we would not return to this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Paid $43.28/night with Good Sam - James Island Park offers a wide variety of activities for the whole family. We stayed March 31 – April 7th in site 120 – full hook up, camping in a motor coach. The campground was well laid out and offered a little green space between each site, along with a fire ring. There are many biking and walking trails throughout the park and the dog park was extremely nice. April 1st, the park hosted the Low country Cajun Festival and we enjoyed the food, drink & music just a quick walk away from our coach. For the price, this was not our favorite campground as it offered no cable. The Wi-Fi was unusable (and we have a Wi-Fi ranger, Wi-Fi booster that connected to their router at 100%) and each site was covered in road pack. We had a rally heavy rain, making this one of the messiest sites we have ever encountered. Make sure to have your bug spray handy. Especially if it rains as the road ways and sites hold water for days. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Can't add much more than what is here. This is one of the nicest parks we've stayed. There seemed to be a continual set of activity going on to mow, clean, and keep the park looking pretty. The campsite was a back-in and handled our 38' 5th wheel and truck plus a small car with no problem. The Wi-Fi was very solid the entire 12 days we were here. The rest of the park had so much to do and we were only 12 minutes to Folly Beach or about the same time to downtown Charleston. We do not own a dog but if you did this is the park. They have a separate beach just for your dogs including another area for the real small dogs. Easy to give this park a 5-star...and we will be back We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

What a great park. In addition to being a really nice campground (good sized sites, all separated with a small patch of woods) there are a couple of water parks, and a 50 foot belay climbing wall. You can rent gear including shoes. There was so much to do just at the park that we could have just stayed there and missed the historic city. It took about 20 minutes to drive to the Ft Sumter visitors center which is right down town. Getting a F250 around the streets can prove to be a little daunting, but the campground is really a gem even at this price. Great place as a base to see Charleston or just relax. Superb staff all round as well. Would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very neat, clean park. Friendly camp store workers. This campground is very close to Charleston & Folly Beach making our daily drives in to town super convenient. Lots to do in both those places. The Festival of Lights was an added bonus & we drove around 3 times during our stay just to see it. I guess the after Christmas crowd slowed down for that cause we had no trouble going through. Our site was pretty private, was on a corner. But I did notice the kids seemed to hang out more around the bath house riding bikes, playing football, so yes that area was quite noisy. Will definitely come back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely campground. Our site fee included access to the Festival of Lights, which is spectacular. We reserved on short notice but it was a Sunday night. I'm told that this time of year it can book up on the weekends. Also, the advice to arrive by 5:00 was great as the festival traffic is pretty heavy in the evening and could delay entry. We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a destination park for many families during the holidays. but for us it was just a very expensive place to stay. We paid almost $50 for just electric plus water. They charge us an extra $13/night for the privilege of using the dump station. Sites are relatively level and large. Electrical was low. My EMS read 114-118 volts most of the time. Water was fine. You need to get a key from the office to unlock the dump station. Showers were very heavily used and not always clean; the work-campers did their best to keep the sites clean. CG is in the middle of the park and has many walking trails. From November to Jan 1st they have an extensive holiday light show. CG sells out a year in advance for the holidays. Sunday morning there was a nice pancake breakfast that my son enjoyed. Historic Charleston is only 5-10 minutes away. Our site, #40, had zero privacy since it was right next to the bathrooms. Everyone using the facilities walked within a few feet of our trailer; young kids took a short cut through our site with their bikes! There is a laundry area but the machines are old and we needed assistance from the office to get one of them working. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great park. Very accessable for big rigs. Many sites are 60-80 ft. Asphalt roads and hard packed sand/gravel sites. There were many 36ft+ motor coaches in the park. Friendly staff ready to help. the grounds are in great shape. Thousands of trees but none low enough to touch our coach. Used the free Christmas light tour shuttle and the $10 shuttle to downtown. We asked if this park would handle a 45 ft motorhome before coming, more than once. While we are parked here, we found this park not to be appropriate for larger rigs. They have low hanging trees which hit and dragged over our coach. The place is one big dust pile. To get to our space was nearly impossible because of the number of vehicles parked around the area and the low hanging branches. We actually had to come to our space going down the one way road the wrong way, because of the situation. I would never come back to this park because of this situation. They should never advertise this park as big rig friendly, as it IS NOT. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We travel with two Standard Poodles and the huge, fenced dog park was great! Wi-Fi was spotty when the stormy weather rolled in. Park personnel we're always friendly and helpful. The grounds were well kept, bathrooms were clean. Don't miss the Christmas lights which are lit beginning November 11th. The actual RV space was large, private, well maintained, and easy to back into as were all the roads throughout the park. Great park, worth coming back to. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We arrived during a rain storm and noticed most of the campground was under water. All campsites are small, narrow and have no privacy (are wide open). Our assigned site was completely flooded and we were afraid to get electrocuted if we plug anything into the outlets. We asked for a new site that is on a little dryer ground. We received a much smaller site on a grassy area. We thought that would be better, because of our two dogs. We were wrong. The entire glass area was infested with fire ants. We had to tip-toe quickly to get in and out of our camper. Overall the park was too overpriced for fire ants, flooding and extremely dirty bathrooms. The front desk (with 3 people that didn't do much) was not helpful and pretended to be clueless about service. We stayed for 7 days and nobody cleaned anything. Everything the park claims to have is, available at an extra charge. Absolutely nothing is offered here for free or is included in the outrageous camping fee. The dog park was always over packed with pets and people that don't belong in the park itself. So we couldn't use that. We would never recommend to stay at this park to anybody, because of its nickel-and-diming-for-everything attitude. It would have been much better to stay in a state park for a reasonable price instead. We won't be back here - ever! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My family stayed at James Island campground for 4 nights. This place is fantastic! The amenities are excellent. It's only a few minutes from downtown Charleston & a few minutes in another direction for the plantations... it's a great location!! There's walking/biking paths throughout the entire park, a splash park, a water park, a fishing dock, a rock climbing wall & a dog park. There was a pancake breakfast that my son loved! The place is extremely well kept. The office/ general store was great. The campsite we had was fantastic (#29). We had so much space yet it still felt very woodsy! I highly recommend this campground! All five of us in my family say it's our favorite campground to date! We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a GREAT find! We loved this "stop over" and wished we stayed for a few days! We have 2 lab's and the huge dog park with a lake was their best part! This place has everything and yet very nice spacious sites. They do have sites that share with another, but you better know them or you'll be sorry. On location was Rock Climbing walls, water splash park, bike rentals, kayaks, and just everything a resort would have! We stayed in a water/electric only site.They only have 5 but our site 42 had a ton of space and shade. Loved this place! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed the park. The sites were large and mostly level, the restrooms were clean and adequate. Laundry facilities were available. Campground store had a good selection of necessities that may have been forgotten, ice, propane, and bike rentals. The park is very large and bicycles are the preferred mode of travel and pets are welcome. There is a playground and splash area for the kids. The water park was closed due to a water main break while we were here, so we visited another one in another county park while we were here. Discount tickets are available in the store for the waterparks. Your campground pass gets you into all of the other parks for free. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice campground with a friendly helpful staff. We booked late so had one of the buddy sites previously mentioned. The site wasn't bad because of the layout for the fire pit, but you can end up with a sewer hose in front of you depending on which side of the site you are on. I would recommend reservations well in advance. Nice shady sites and our walk around the CG told me that most if not all were pretty level. Nice municipal golf course close by and easy access to downtown Charleston. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Shuttle service to downtown Charleston was great $5.00 per person each way. Sites were level with good water, electric and sewer hook-up. Minor complaint--some sites are buddy sites with your neighbor right on top of you. I was given this kind of site when many single sites were available. A little better planning by the park would be appreciated. The "Best Damn Dog Run" period. I would guess 6 to 8 acres on a lake with several dog areas to the river. Price a little steep considering no cable, however for us and our dog it was worth it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

While it doesn't have paved sites, we thought it deserved a "10". It's a nicely laid out campground with room for big rigs, good water, good power, Wi-Fi worked, etc. Bring kids, bikes, dogs, and radio controlled boats if you them. Excellent shuttle to/from Charleston. A little challenging to find. We believe the directions provided on the campground receipt give you the best chance to miss tree limbs. We were in site #63 very close to store and had a sidewalk next to us. This is our second visit and we came to specifically see the Christmas Lights. Less turn around of sites than in summer. We were actually surprised that there were a number of sites vacant while we were there, even on Thanksgiving day. In summer people are moving constantly to new sites to be able to stay for the time they want to spend here. So this time there was less traffic congestion. Our site was spacious, we had a fire ring/grill combo, large picnic table, w/e/s with 50 amp.Wi-Fi in park is very good. There is a laundry area at bath house and a clubhouse in campground. There is a store with ice cream, drinks, and firewood, and propane refill. Park has very nice bike/walking paths. Husband ran the Turkey Trot in Charleston while we were there and was able to utilize paths to train. Dog area with beach, fishing dock, very nice playground though it is starting to fade from the sun after just 1 year of being open but is well maintained. We did use the climbing wall but the day we went there was not enough help for all the people who wanted to climb the wait was really long. And when the employee did call for help the man that came instead of helping to belay he took over an hour to set up the small movable climbing wall instead. The Christmas Light festival was great and it was better being in the park. Each night we walked a different area to see them up close. There are train rides, food, a carousel, 2 stores, a bakery, and visits with Santa. Charleston is very close by with many things to do and stores to shop in. Everybody we met was very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Clean, quiet park, but vary hard to get to from the interstate. If we had not had a GPS, we likely could not find it. Check in process was very slow (20-30 min.), as the senior lady at the desk, should have never been here. She didn't have a clue. When we didn't like the site she assigned to us, we repeated the whole process all over again, even though there was a more knowledgeable person here also. Fabulous place. We stayed here as the Christmas lights were being set up (boy, they look great!), but be forewarned--if you stay between November 12 (this year's start date) and the end of the season, you must be back in your site by 5PM. That would've been a surprise if we hadn't known it. Now, on the other hand, the park offers a shuttle: 9AM to Charleston and 4PM back for $10 round trip. Great deal. Leave the RV and the toad behind to enjoy walking this historic and beautiful city. But back at the park, enjoy the large, leafy/grassy sites, the convenient recycling program, and the clean bathhouse/laundry. Good camp store, too. There are walking trails and what looks to be a great off-leash dog park, too. We stayed in the cool weather, but folks who stay here regularly said that the lazy river/water park is a blast in the summer (and they were 50+). We would stay here again, especially because of the shuttle. (Note: A taxi ride is only $12 one way, too, FYI.) We camped here in a Motorhome.

We did a lot of research before coming to Charleston and decided on this park after seeing it's great reviews. We were not disappointed, it was close to attractions and a very nice clean park. Despite being in a wooded area, we were pleasantly surprised to have satellite reception. There is a park ranger on duty overnight who does late check ins. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. There is a water park inside the county park but it was not open during our stay. There is a great dog park that made me wish we had our dog with us, he would have loved it. If you forget your bikes, you can rent some. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What everyone else said: a great park for activities and lots of them. We had site 75: it was large, wooded and private. I needed reservations for the 4th of July, they were booked but said they would put me on a waiting list. I thought I would never in a million years get a call back, but to my surprise they called when someone canceled. Now that was good service. They do have a shuttle to downtown Charleston and Folly Beach, but it only leaves once a day. We used a taxi, it wasn't anymore expensive than the shuttle and they pick you up at your site. We are awful with schedules and this way you can come and go when it suits your schedule. Overall this park was very clean except the bathrooms they were a huge mess when I looked in to check them out. We would probably stay here again if ever in the area. Just a very pleasant campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This has been our favorite campground so far! There is so much to do. We went to the water park, climbed the rock wall, and rode bikes all over the park. We spent 4 nights here in site #63. The first day (Tues) we went to the water park: it's 2 for 1 on Tuesdays. Great park for families! The second day we went to Charleston (close by) and then played nine holes of golf at the Municipal Golf Course less than 5 miles away! The third day we went to Folly Beach. We parked free at the pier with our camp ground park pass. Don' haul a bunch of stuff, just go and rent an umbrella and chair ($20). The rest of the time we enjoyed the campground and took the dogs to the leash-less play area. The Wi-Fi worked well. The site had sewer, power, and fire ring. We will definitely be back! Our favorite campground year after year. My family camps here each June and November for long weekends and extended stays. Always clean. Beautiful shaded sites and so much to do. Without leaving the park we are entertained for days. But in addition to the parks amenities, downtown Charleston is 10 minutes in one direction and Folly Beach is under 10 minutes in the other direction. The Holiday Lights festival is not to be missed. Very nice campground. Tons of stuff to do in the park for all ages. We don't have young kids, but were impressed with all of the activities available for the youngsters. There was a water park, climbing wall, kayak rental, paddle boat rental, fishing ponds and lakes, and bike trails. I enjoyed the running trails and the dog beach was an awesome place for our dogs. I only have 2 minor issues with this park that kept it from being a 10. First, is the approaches to the park. All of the roads have low trees, making it a bit of a white knuckle experience for tall rigs. My rig is 13' tall and several branches knocked into our front A/C unit. Once inside the park, all the clearances were OK. The other minor point is that many of the sites are close together and not very private. Be prepared to see and hear your neighbors in most sites. Beyond that, I'd highly recommend this park to anyone. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed in some magnificent resorts, and few of them matched the beauty of this one. Now, having said that, the getting here, and leaving can be hazardous to the well being of your RV if you are traveling in a Class A motorhome. The streets leading to the campground are lined with beautiful oak trees. Unfortunately, many of them have limbs that are growing downward: on the way in a limb that was impossible to miss, hit one of our antennas and the satellite dome. From the sound of it we thought it destroyed both, but incredibly, nothing was damaged. When we left: limbs from trees lining the road were impossible to avoid if there was on-coming traffic. The good news is I was able to wax out several long scratches on the passenger side. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Getting into James Island County Park is a mission in itself. Reservations were hard to come by. This park has a great location close to Charleston but if you make a wrong turn, the roads toward the campground become a nightmare. The park itself is a county run facility offering a water park, children's play area and an unleashed dog area with lake. This all sounds real nice except some of the actual sites suffer from lack of maintenance. Our site was not close to level and held water. Sewer openings in most sites are below grade allowing uncapped openings to fill with sand and rain water. The tree canopy needed a spring trimming upon our arrival. We enjoyed our stay and will return if we can get a reservation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the best campgrounds we have camped at. We had a large site #26, with lots of room behind the trailer for a campfire. The site was very private with dense vegetation between sites. Lots to do in the park and in the area. An added benefit is free access to all Charleston County Park facilities, such as the pier and the beach at Folly Beach and the Beachwalker park at Kiawah Island. This was our second visit to James Island County Park, and we found the park to be even better than we remembered from the first visit 4 years ago. What more can I say, but this is a beautiful place to stay. Staff was great; it's clean; dog friendly; at a reasonable price in a beautiful area. Has level pads. The restrooms were beyond clean. Washers and dryers were new and clean. This park has made it to my top ten list and I will return. Just watch out for the red ants which I found out the hard way. Boy, do they hurt! I picked them up in the back overflow area while walking the dog. Two of the staff were driving by in the cart and offered sympathy and helpful suggestions on how to treat the bites. If you stay in the south bring some foam bug spray to go around the hoses so you don't get those little ants in the camper. I very rarely make reservations but I did for this park and I was worried whether or not I would like the site, but my worries were pointless. You can't go wrong with any of the sites. While at Willow Tree near Myrtle Beach planning our next stop we stumbled on a review here stating it was perfect so it became our choice. We planned to stay here for a few nights and head further south but it was such a nice total experience that we stayed 5 nights. First of all let me say the previous reviews are correct. This is a jewel of a place to stay. But only if you're not expecting an up-scale RV Resort. In my opinion it's not that at all but it's close. It's very laid back in nature with lots and lots and lots to do without even leaving the park. We travel with what we tell folks is the smartest member of our family, our 10-yr-old Border Collie Jake. The park is definitely his favorite. Lots of places to walk and explore plus a huge, multi-acre fenced no-leash-required dog park with 2 beaches for splashing and playing. He hardly ever gets to interact with other dogs that are not on a leash so it was a big, big treat for him. We spent at least a few hours each day at this park. Always lots of dogs and folks there. Those that live in or around Charleston are very lucky to have this great facility. Another gem inside the park was the fishing pier. Not quite named correctly. It is a low-to-the-water pier but man is it beautiful here. It's set at a turn in one of the tidal creeks with lots of moving water. Fish constantly moving in and out of the area. You have to try to go out to the pier during sunset at least one night while you're here. It was breath-taking to sit there and watch the sun go down over the reeds and creeks. Other than that what other observations did I have? 1) Expect a tight fit when you drive up. The beauty of the place is in all the trees but they make it very difficult to get into the site. We didn't get a pull-through and it took a few tries to get BAR ("Big Ass RV") into her spot. But once there it was very wide and very private. You can get around here with the biggest of rigs but you'll just need to be careful. Also, many of the side roads have low-hanging trees so just stick to main roads. Like all beach parks it's sandy and we had to vacuum just about every day but that's to be expected. 2) Charleston area is just full of things to do. Folly Beach (10 miles from park) was almost deserted on the day we went there even though it was in the upper 70s. Music in town each time we ventured out. 3) Someone said we should visit Edisto Beach while we were here so one day we hit the road. Even though it's only 21 miles away it takes about 80 minutes to get there. Once there I agree that it was pretty but we found ourselves wishing we hadn't taken 1/2 day to drive when Folly Beach was so close and in our opinion just as pretty with a little more to do as far as shops and restaurants. So I'd say don't do that unless you're staying for a couple of weeks. Overall, the best all around park we've visited. Our new #1 favorite and we found it by search for 10,10,10 parks here. Nice private sites. Be sure and take boards to place under jacks as you are camping on sand and the jacks tend to sink into the sand especially if it rains like it did on us. We arrived one night early and luckily they had a site available for us. We asked if we could stay on that site for the next 3 nights as well since we liked the site and our neighbors were really nice. We were very insistently told no way that we would have to move to the site they had reserved for us originally. Not sure why since there never was anyone on the other site. Just did not make for good customer service especially since a lot of the sites sat empty the entire time we were there. We visited the USS Yorktown in Charleston and the beach at Folly Field and enjoyed both. Be sure and slather yourself in bug spray as the chiggers and mosquitoes were taking over the place. We would probably go there again just take extra bug spray as that tends to go with camping sometimes. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had read some very nice reviews about this place & when we visited, this campground did not disappoint. This is a lovely of a place to stay. Nothing upscale, but it is rustic/(lots of trees) quiet, clean & close to many amenities. It's a great place to relax & enjoy nature. Lots of places to walk and explore. Expect a tight fit when you drive up. The beauty of the place is in all the trees but the spots are a tight fit. The park site's pads are limestone with grass and lots of trees. They are level and well kept. It would be hard to compare the facilities with high end condo parks, but the friendly staff and comfortable setting made up the difference to us. An example of their interest in customer satisfaction is that they keep a list of sites where a roof mounted satellite dish can capture a signal, and it works. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in. Private sites are situated so that entry and exit is easy. Good TV reception and Wi-Fi. Does not have a pool but a wonderful water park across the road with lazy river, pool and water slides. Favorite feature for us was the off leash dog park with beach area. Our dog loved it and she usually doesn't get on well with other dogs. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Campground fee also provided free admission to the County beaches as well. Don't miss if in the area. Reservations are advisable although each night we were there it appeared to have a few sites available. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A family oriented campground. Watch out for kids while driving around. The campground is fairly close to Historic Charleston and Folly Beach. The beach area had lots of traffic over the 4th of July weekend. The sites were large and spread out. Large trees provided shade. WiFi was super fast. Besides the campground the park offers hiking/biking trails, a water park, fishing piers, boat and bike rentals and a dog park. What a great campground! We hope to make it here on a yearly basis now. Only thing I could ask for would be cable tv. The free wifi was great. Bathhouse was kept clean. Our site was large and private. I had to change my reservations twice and each time the employee I spoke to on the phone was extremely patient, friendly and knowledgeable. This campground is a true gem with an almost limitless range of family-oriented activities (some of them available at extra charges). These include a dog park, swimming (including a lazy river), boating, a climbing wall, biking trails, etc. The sites are well-separated and the security is good. There are only two problems that prevent us from giving a full 10 rating. The first is that their bathrooms and showers can be quite dirty and in need more frequent cleanings, particularly during high-demand weekends. Secondly, their telephone reservation service is shockingly poor. Your initial calls will be met with busy signals, necessitating trying 4 to 6 times just to get through to a machine. Then, when you indicate that you'd like to book a spot, you can be put on hold for so long that you will probably hang up before getting through to a human being. In our case, we generally waited 10 to 12 minutes before stopping the call. This is a real pity because the park is worth the wait. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were on site #75. We had a very shady site and it was quite private with lots of vegetation between sites. This is a wonderful park. Be warned most people book a year in advance and those that don't seem to piece together their stay by moving sites every couple of days. There was a lot of that going on while we were here. Some sites are close together and there are many shared family type sites, so check the map closely. This park has everything: bike trails, fishing, dog park/beach, kayak rentals, paddle boat rentals, rock wall, water park, spray play area, and THE best playground our dd has ever played in. Restrooms were very clean because there are only 6 partial sites as well as a group area so most people are self contained. The staff was very friendly, store was well stocked and reasonable. There is free Wi-Fi, free Folly Beach access, a WalMart (not super though) close by, as well as restaurants very close. And my favorite...boiled peanut seller within 1 mile of park! Park is quiet at night but very family friendly, there were kids galore here. We saw plenty of wildlife as well: deer on the bike path, lots of birds, turtles and a water snake swimming in canal. We will be back we're hoping to book for their Holiday light show next year. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because their online booking system is very hard to navigate. I ended up calling the park directly to book and had to hold a long time to get help, but now I know why they are very busy so I will expect that the next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a great place to camp with our kids. The park was quiet and easy to navigate. The sites are nearly level, but sandy. We were on one of the "Y" sites with our neighbors. This was a unique arrangement that made our stay very pleasant. (See map) The site was heavily wooded and provided great shade. The only issue we has was the slow wireless internet access. The associated waterpark was fantastic for our kids. Very well conceived and well constructed water park with plenty to keep the kids going all day. The deepest pool in the park was only 4 feet and lifeguards were everywhere. We would reccommemd this campground to everyone. Not a long drive to the beach if you feel the need to leave the waterpark. The campground employees were extremely friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I haven't given many 10's since starting reviewing parks but this is one of them. Nice treed site (103) and can even get rooftop sat TV thru the trees. Not just a CG but a real park. GREAT Dog area (off leash) and two beaches for the bowsers, ours loved it. Not far from downtown but yet feels like the country. Many trails, water park for kids, climbing wall, interpretive program, propane on site (albeit costly). Beautiful landscaping, 24 hour security and locked gate. We would definitely stay here again & again. Charleston should really be proud of this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall, this place is very nice, as stated in previous entries. Wildlife is abundant, the park and campground are well maintained and clean, the staff are helpful and friendly, and proximity to downtown Charleston is about 7 miles (20 minutes) away. A couple of things I was not too crazy about: this place is very QUIET. Church quiet. Like, almost too quiet. At night, hardly anyone was sitting outside of their camper, few fires going, little laughter, little conversation. So we felt a bit isolated and awkward about making any outside camping noise of our own, which wouldn't have been much fun anyway, because we were so cramped. Do not agree to take Spot #118. It and #119 basically split one proper sized site, in my opinion. Our patio area was so close to the side of our neighbor's motorhome, we felt like we were invading their privacy by even sitting at our own picnic table. Also, their dump pipe was situated very close to us due to the small size of the sites, so every time we walked out the door - Hello, Orange Hose! So, while located in a lovely location, the campsite itself left quite a bit to be desired. I tried to relocate, but there were no openings. To re-cap - 1) make sure you reserve early, and select a large-enough site, and 2) don't bring a loud group with you, because you'll have problems. Beautiful location, but I don't think we'd stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first time in a county park because we drive a bus with car trailer and are usually too big. They have about 10 pull-thru sites that are long enough for us. Unfortunately they allow travel trailers and fifth wheels to reserve these spots instead of keeping them for big rigs. We could get advance reservations for only 3 nights because of this and got the last available spot - site #1 - which is just as you enter and everyone has to drive by you in both directions so it's noisy. Roads are paved, sites are sand. We loved the miles of biking trails here at the park and it's minutes into Charleston or to Mt. Pleasant. Wifi worked fine. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park. I loved the trees, walking/biking trails, ponds, swings, picnic areas, pavilions and open space. Still, $40 (Good Sam) is a lot to spend on a campground, especially when it doesn't have cable and the Wi-Fi occasionally cuts out on a whim. It might be justified in warmer weather but not when it's in the 50s. There are extra fees for most activities, including the water park/pool, bike and boat rentals, climbing wall. The restrooms are nice, with four showers and four stalls in each of 2 bathhouses. The showers' water pressure varies. The laundry rooms are outside. There is a lot of traffic noise (including trucks backing up and beeping) starting early in the morning. The playground is undergoing renovations for the next few months. The water activities don't open until May. The shuttle into town or to the beach is $7 round trip and is very convenient. We used it one day and drove in and parked in the RV garage parking on Ann Street (next to the Visitors Center) for $10/day another. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of the best RV parks we have stayed in since we left home from our Outdoor resorts lot in California. The staff is very friendly and the park is really nice and spacious. We meant to stay just two nights and ended up staying for six. Nice biking and jogging trails, the RV sites are long and spacious.The trees are aesthetically pleasing. Very close to down town Charleston. Gated after 10pm and they give you a password to get in that is constantly changing. Great dog park where the dogs can socialize and it's next to a lake, so that if your dog likes swimming he/she can. We are definitely coming back here again. I highly recommend this park! Excellent park with paved interior roads and gravel pads. Pads were level and well spaced. The county park itself is a gem with biking trails, multiple grassy areas, and much for kids to do. Great access to Charleston -- maybe less than 10 minutes away to downtown and easy access via roads. Watch out for Oak branches along frontage roads, though! All I can say is “What a find!” We traditionally stay in state parks but research through RVparkreviews led us to this gem. The facilities are impressive from the large, full hook-up sites to the bicycle and hiking trail system, kayak and paddle boat facilities, a playground and water-park which we did not use, and even a dog park. There is freshwater and saltwater fishing, and even a climbing wall. We were here during the Festival of Lights which is an impressive display of over 2 million lights in stunning displays throughout the park. Our site was spacious and there was adequate vegetation between the sites to offer some privacy. The park is close to all needed services and facilities and is only a 15 minute drive to downtown Charleston. We took advantage of the shuttle bus to town. It also runs out to Folly Beach County Park. Personnel were very helpful and gracious. I would definitely rate this as one of the top parks we have visited. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Our rate was for a back-in site with the Good Sam discount. This place is fantastic. There aren't any bad sites, but you'd probably want to avoid a buddy site unless traveling with friends. The bicycle trails are great. The Christmas light show is wonderful. The only awkward thing is that during the light show you are supposed to be back at your site by 5:00 pm, or you'll have to wait in line at the gate with the cars waiting to drive through the light show. The park is only 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. I don't give many 10 ratings, but there's just nothing we didn't like about James Island County Park! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This was a great park with walking trails and a dog park. The sites were large and private with lots of trees. We had poor drainage in the site we were in after it rained. We were trying to pull out and the entire back end was standing in 6 inches of water which made it difficult to unhook. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would like to go later in the year because volunteers were putting up Christmas lights throughout to turn it into a drive-through display, which will be beautiful. This is a really great city run park. It is close to downtown, in a huge recreational park, and had a world class Christmas light display. The sites are not that level and are dirt. It is one of those parks that picking your site is probably a good idea but because it is so popular you should have reservations. We would definitely stay here again but NOT in site 50/51. Sites are all 50 amp with sewer, free wifi, miles of great walking, biking trails (paved), crabbing and fishing dock, near the beach and five minutes from downtown Charleston. We arrived very late to this park, after the gate had closed, due to our routing somehow taking longer than we had planned. However, the ranger escorted us right to our site. They had just had a torrential downpour, and many of the sites were unbelievably flooded. We had a site with a shared driveway (and I don't think that was made clear to me when I reserved), so it was a little tight. But our neighbors were friendly and our site was dry. The bathrooms were well-used and seemed not to be very well cleaned. They usually cleaned them around 8:30-9:00 a.m. and it seemed like they needed to push that back to maintain cleanliness more throughout the day. It is extremely humid and muggy in this area, so we didn't spend a lot of time outside. The people were friendly, and the sites were nice. It is tricky maneuvering around this city though due to the many bridges, so watch your routing with your rig. We liked what we saw, but not enough to return to this area again. We could go on and on about the wonders of this park. It is always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The paved, yes paved bike trails were really nice and probably have a combined run at least three or four miles. My boys loved the fishing and crabbing dock. The playground is huge with a nice splash and play across the big grassy area from it. The free run dog area is very nice; but I will say that you need to be careful there due to some people bringing in dogs that are not that friendly or watched very well by their owners. The sites are plenty big in most cases for big rigs and an extra tent. The water park was crowed but at $7 for campers, it was hard to beat. A really nice surprise was the price of concessions in the waterpark. They were as cheap or cheaper that a lot of fast food places. Another perk for campers was free entry and parking into Folly Beach County park. Only a few dollars but it all adds up. It is no wonder this park is full a lot of the time. We already have reservations there for next year as well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first trip to Charleston and we stayed here 6 nights. It exceeded our expectations. We loved it. Our site was very private. Most were adequately private, with the exception of the joined sites, which are close together. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful. The camp store had the basic necessities, along with RV gear, for reasonable prices. Our kids enjoyed biking and renting kayaks and paddle boats, which was only $4 per hour. The dog park is huge! The fishing pier on the marsh is very nice and we saw people catching crab there. We took advantage of the free parking for Folly Beach and the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, which is about a 6-mile drive from the park. Otherwise you have to pay $7 per vehicle to visit these sites. The Wi-Fi is fast and strong even on the outer edge of the campground. We hope to return to James Island one day! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a GREAT park if you have kids. It is the nicest campground we've seen in 45 stays over 16 states. There are a good amount of "shared" spaces, which is perfect if you're camping with friends, but if you prefer more privacy, there are plenty of spots. Just call ahead and reserve one. They DO reserve specific sites (we didn't have reservations and had to move in order to stay longer). It's only 10-15 minutes from downtown Charleston (beautiful city!), and about the same from the beach. The Charleston Tea Plantation is about 25 minutes away and very worth visiting (if you like that kind of thing). The park has great walking/biking trails, an off-leash dog BEACH (yes, they can dive in the water all they want), a good playground for kids, a splash fountain play area and an additional fee, Water Park which was TOO much fun. It has all the amenities full timers need (washers/dryers), showers, etc. We can't say enough about it, we loved it, even if it wasn't the most private park we've stayed in. James Island County Campground – Charleston, South Carolina - $27 plus tax – Site 34 – water and electricity. This campground run by the county is very interesting and the park itself is huge. Nice bathrooms with activity center, miles of bike trails, camp store etc. The park itself has a number of fields and ponds for everything – dogs, kids, fishing, splash center etc. Our site was on a little pond with a fountain in it near the activity center. We had shade, palm trees, birds and a swing to sit and watch everything. Very nice just make sure you follow the directions from the website not your GPS. They have a shuttle for a fee that takes you to Charleston Visitor Center (they even dropped us off at Fort Sumter) , or to Folly Beach and they are quite close to a Piggly Wiggly and a Wal-Mart. They have primitive sites for those that want to camp in the field without electricity. Their festival of lights at Xmas time is very well known and campers come from all over to spend weeks staying in the park. They are open year round and are full most of the year We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful county park for camping. The sites are large with trees and paved roads. Depending on the site location satellite TV reception can be had. There is no Wi-Fi or cable TV. Easy access to Historic Charleston. We have stayed here several times when visiting Charleston. Campground can be booked full at spring break and flowers season, and fall during the Christmas light display. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is very nice provided you get a good spot. Some are not good at all. Avoid any of the split or shared sites (seen easily on their online campground map). These sites are ridiculously close together and have zero privacy; and in our case our neighbors sewer connection was 5 feet from my steps. Not good. In my opinion they should eliminate some of those type sites and convert them into singles. Thankfully the friendly, helpful staff worked with us and we moved to a much nicer non-shared site and all was well. The park is very popular and busy. Terrific paved bike trails, lots of stuff to do inside park. Convenient to Charleston. Has a water park, dog park, kayak rentals, climbing wall, and several small ponds with fish. Very pretty place; just get a good spot. One more thing, be prepared to level your rig as many sites not level. We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a wonderful county park. The campground is adequate. The sites are close together and fairly level. There was some shade available. The park offers many opportunities - a shuttle to the downtown area, climbing wall, lots of paths to walk and ride a bike, a great off leash dog park with access to the lake, kayaks and canoes. The swimming pool complex wasn't open yet but looked inviting. The park is clean, roads are well maintained. Excellent destination location. Will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This has to be one of the best campgrounds we have been to. We had a buddy lot that was level and wooded. The dog park is great. You can let your dog run free in a LARGE fenced lot on a lake. This is a good family CG with a rock climbing wall, a splash park, miles of bike trails and kayaks. Charleston is 4 miles away and has all kind of neat stuff to do. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the best County run facilities bar none. Very clean, very green. No WiFi access but my Verizon card worked fine with broadband coverage. If you are looking for a Christmas family spot this is fantastic with the Festival of Lights that they put on. It is phenomenal! We stayed here in a large rig and had plenty of room. This is my favorite campground. Even though it lacks WiFi. Very clean, nicely run by the city/county of Charleston. Nice space between sites. Call way in advance to get reservations as this place books up early. We camped there through the Christmas holidays. One word of caution camping during this time. This campground is part of James Island County Park. The park host's "Holiday Festival of Lights". Millions and Millions of decorated lights all through the park. So from sundown to about 10PM nightly, if you want to leave the campground or get back to the campground, plan and extra 30 minutes to get in or out, as everybody in Charleston drives through looking at the lights and traffic is backed up way past the entrance. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

My family has spent several had several great trips to James Island. Our most recent trip, just my son and I just went, proved that this is great campground with a even better staff. We were at the park when they had a water main break both in the park and on the main street. The water problem was not the park's fault but they responded excellently. Port-a-johns and large potable water truck were placed at the bathhouses. The park staff also kept us up to date with signs letting all know what was going on. We decided to go ahead and pack up home, we were not that far from home. The staff was very apologetic when we left. I left only a day early and did not not expect a refund. The next week I received a refund from the campground and a certificate for a 1 day free stay. This was not expected but shows the class act of folks at the park and the Charleston County Park System. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Would be a 9.5 if the scoring scale allowed. Minor deductions for 1. No towel/clothing hooks in bath house, 2. Site a little thin on gravel and a bit un-level. Petty items aside this County park is a wonderful facility for everyone. Bicycle paths, playgrounds, and fishing opportunities are sure to delight kids and adults. The huge (including water access) off leash dog area will appeal to the four footed camper in your party. If you remain in the Park you should not run out of things to do. The web site gives a complete listing. The Park is very convenient to historic downtown Charleston via Route 30. The sites are mostly spacious. The park was booked solid when we arrive and our site was next to the dumpster, so I was skeptical. The site, however, compensated for this by being about 100 feet wide with lawn areas on both sides. The dumpster was well screened and the benefit was that we met a lot of people in the process. Even booked solid there is no feeling of crowding in this park. It’s a little more expensive than your average county park but unquestionably worth the price and then some. We would and will definitely return for a longer stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at this great campground for four nights while visiting Charleston. It is easy to locate and real easy to navigate the paved roads.The sites are level, good sized, privacy between sites and friendly staff/guests. I can't think of a negative at all. There is even a " beach" for dogs, and while we don't bring ours, it was fun to watch them romp in the water. We plan to return for a longer stay in this area and will definitely stay here. The staff is great. The sites are spacious and clean. This is a great year round park. In the summer there is a water park across from the campground and great crabbing at the fishing dock. Charleston is a great place to visit int he fall or summer. Go in december and enjoy the park wide light show. The traffic during this event keeps you "trapped" but then again who would like to be "trapped" in such a great campground. Park rangers are ever present and the gate is manned or locked (with a code). Great biking park and it has a great climbing wall. Plenty of wildlife. A serene escape not to far from a great small city. We come every year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is the greatest campground! The sites are large, the bathrooms immaculate. The southern hospitality was amazing! Great to walk around and the park had so many activities it took a week to even see them all. A great waterpark just across the way, walking distance, that you get a discount if camping, was wonderful even with a little one. I could walk back to the site for naps and lunch. Grocery store and restaurants short driving distance. Just 10 minutes from downtown and the Pier. The only part negative about the park are the roads getting there. VERY tight and not sure how the motorhomes & big tag a longs made some of the turns. I would go earlier or later in the year since it was too hot for a campfire and we felt stuck inside some of the time due to the heat. But this is a MUST STAY for anyone going to Charleston! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Charleston has a great county park at James Island. We had a pull-through 50 amp site that was large enough to put our slides out and our 21' awning out. Park was near empty because kids were back to school. Only problem was in the pet recreation area. dogs were playing in the pond and there was a gator stalking in the pond. Found out next morning that the gator was caught that evening and removed. Stayed here for four nights in a motor coach. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I could not have been more pleased with this campground, unless it had been directly on the beach. The people who worked there were so friendly, the bike paths were awesome, the fishing pier had an amazing view of the marsh, the campground was clean and most of the sites were shaded. The bath house was clean, not spotless, but clean. Quiet hours are enforced. The water park was within walking/biking distance and a great place to spend the day with the kids. And since it is a county park, you can get in all the other county parks for free with your pass. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We just got back today from a 5 day stay at James Island County Park. This was our first time to the park, but not our first time to Charleston. We actually had plans to "see the sights" but only left the campground 3 times! (One was for groceries and the other was to meet family in Myrtle Beach for the day) I can't imagine a better park anywhere. To be honest, I was a little put off by the fact that there is no cable or internet access but, after we checked the place out, we found that we probably didn't have time for such things at this place. The grounds are immaculate and there is a ton of stuff for kids to do. The 10 mph is strictly enforced and the bike trails are fantastic! The water park is perfect for all ages. We thought it was just the right size to relax and be able to keep up with your kids without chasing them around everywhere. Tickets were $6.99 if purchased at the campground (all ages above 2) and $9.99 if purchased at the water park. If you go to the water park after 3:00, the water park sells them for $4.99. (They stay open until 6:00) Be sure to take your fishing gear. They have several great ponds and marshes to cast your line in. There is also a daily activity - none of which we participated in. We stayed on the go constantly. This campground is heavily secured. We had no disturbances the entire week. This is definitely a place where you can let your kids go loose on bikes, within reason, without fear of being mowed down by speeding vehicles. We did not use the restrooms but my husband checked them out "just in case" and found them to be in great condition. We will without a doubt use this park again the next time we are in Charleston. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Pro: 1. Location. From here you can be either in Downtown Charleston or on Folly Beach in 10-15 minutes by car. 2. Appears to be a nice park overall. Well-maintained. 3. Good campground store. Con: 1. Only a dozen 50-amp hookup sites. They were full when we were there. If you want one of these, you probably have to reserve well in advance. We were in one of the 100 or so 30-amp sites, which is all we need. They were about 50% occupied the 4 nights we were there. 2. No WIFI, if you want a wireless Internet hookup. They did have a dial-out phone line in the rec room that you can connect your laptop modem to, if you want. We used this, but had to wait a couple of times for others to finish. 3. Sites are dirt floor. 4. No-see-ums. They kept me from sitting out under the awning in a lawn chair. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 days during the first full week of April. The bathrooms were new, but were not cleaned daily. My wife complained of horrible water pressure in the lady's showers. The men's showers were okay with water pressure. The toilets seemed to not be cleaned daily. The fixtures in the restrooms seem new and there is ceramic tile in them, making them look nice. The overall campgroud was very well kept. The location to Folly Beach and downtown Charleston are big drawing points. Our dog had a good time at the off leash dog park located about a mile from the campground. The 7 I'm giving is due to the restrooms. The gnats at the park are horrible! This of course is not the campground's fault, but even 100% DEET didn't deter them. I would not recommend going in April! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a super nice campground and park The staff was friendly and very knowledgable about both the campground sites the park and the Charleston area. Everything was clean. We saw a staff golf cart at least once an hour picking up or checking for trash. This park would be great for both sightseers as well as a destination. They have shuttle service to the beach as well as downtown. The water park was not open but the kids would really like it. We did not use the TV but our neighbors said they had great reception. The only problems we had were cell phone service being spotty and the bugs were getting a good start. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a wonderful county owned/operated campground. It is one of the nicest parks we've visited, anywhere. They have a super store at the check in office with about everything you could need in a campground, and it's all reasonably priced (guess that's because the county isn't looking at it so much as a profit center). Staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. Sites are all neat and very clean; gravel pads, but firm and adequate. Most sites are very private. Lots of biking & walking trails, and one of them even leads to a major river where you can walk out on a pier and fish or catch crabs. The showers and restrooms are in new condition and very clean and well equipped. We give this a 9; only reason it wasn't a 10 was the lack of cable TV and all the wooded sites so our satellite didn't work. We'll definitely be back here next time in this area. This place is great. Wonderful light show during Christmas season and the RV park offers a ride through it. They also offer a van ride to downtown Charleston in the morning and they pick you up at 4:00. Sandy sites. This is a great family park for camping during the holidays. The campground is on the Trail of Lights route with Santa's Village and a Winter Wonderland right across the street - so many fun things for the kids (and kids-at-heart) to do. This is a wonderful RV park. The sites are large, level, and relatively private. The grounds are immaculate. The shuttle service to the beach and into Charleston is very convenient. There are bike trails, walking trails, and a large swimming pool (with a separate area for children). What we liked most, however, is the huge exercise area for dogs. After sleeping in the back seat on our drive down from Maine each spring, our Welsh Terrier is more than ready for some serious, off-leash, running and frisbee chasing. This is the only park we've seen with an area like this for pets and it's a very nice feature. The dogs get along surprisingly well and all seem glad to just run! The pet area is well removed from the RV sites, so noise is not a problem. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is an OUTSTANDING site with paved roads and wooded areas between most of the sites. A few were without trees and close together, but those seemed to be used by folks traveling together or meeting from other places at this site. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Sites were extremely clean with each having its own fire ring and picnic table. My husband went crabbing for the first time and we had delicious crab cakes for dinner one night. It was quiet and peaceful with many birds sights and sounds. There were very few children around as school is not out in this area and Splash Zone had not yet opened for the year. There is much to do for every age here from relaxing, crabbing/fishing, swimming, biking, walking, kayaking, or wall climbing. The dog park and lake for dogs was quite impressive with the dogs swimming and frolicking with each other. Just overall a splendid location. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place to stay in the Charleston area. Closest to the historic district. One way cab ride is $13. 00 to the historic district. Lots to do in the park also. We don't need sewer so we reserved a water/electric site, when we arrived we were given a water/electric site but charged for a full hook-up site. They explained that even though the spots are about 50 ft deep they don't allow motorhomes (we have a 30 ft class A) in the water/electric sites (an error had been made when we reserved) so we needed to pay the full hook-up price (even though we did not have a full hook-up site) or pay $9 to dump our tanks. Not a lot of money but annoying. In the spirit of full disclosure they should document the $9 dump fee on their website and reservation confirmation letters. Not a bad park, sites level and deep but not overly spacious. Lots of amenities at this park that we don't care about but you really can't beat the location to Charleston. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice family campground, close to Charleston and all it has to offer, and there are also several very nice features in the park itself. The main attraction for us is the water park, which is just across the street from the campground (it requires an admission fee, but is discounted for guests of the campground). It is a very nice water park, particularly for kids 12 and under. We spent a whole day there easily. Also in the park are a climbing wall, a large playground, long biking/hiking trails, fishing pier, and a "dog park". Campground sites were relatively close together, but not terribly crowded. Roads were paved, but our site was not. We've been there twice now, and will definitely go again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped July 28-31, 2005 and this campground was one of the best I have stayed at. So much to do and see. We plan to go back again. All the reviews on this campground are right on. I never found the restrooms or showers unclean. The staff was friendly and they are building a new campground entrance. This looks to be a larger store and a nicer campground office coming in the next few months. Charleston is only a short drive and there is so much to see and do in downtown Charleston. We will be going back here more in the future. I only rated this campground an 8 due to the fact that we camped on a Thursday and Friday and it was 101 degrees on Thursday and 99 degrees of Friday with a heat factor of 115 and 110 this two days. Very HOT. If you go in the summer plan on extremely hot days. I believe cooler weather would make this the perfect place to camp with a family. Water park was very nice and you get a discount if you are a camper. Still cost my family of 5, $37.50 for the day but well worth it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really enjoyed our stay at James Island. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Some of the sites were pretty wet after a hard rain, but it's the lowcountry, that's the way it is. Racoons raided our coolers...took most of our meat. Our fault! Be sure to put all food indoors at night. Even though the grounds are level, the park has made an effort to round off most of the sites, so you will need to level your unit. The waterpark was lovely, something for everyone, but was probably enjoyed most by toddler-to-teen group. VERY friendly park for dog lovers, they even have a doggie park with a lake. This is a wonderful park for families. This is a very quite campground. There is a huge playground for children, and a "spray play" area that allows children a chance to romp through sprays of water. For an extra fee there is a great water park near by, but often times is crowded with local daycares. The bike rentals are very nominal, and the bike trails take you on many excursions. I am glad I read the other reviews on this campground. It is everything they said it is. We stayed here for 8 days. It rained half the time and the maintenance crew was out every time opening drains and directing water. Mosquito control was on top of spraying to keep the population down. Litter was picked up everyday. Lots to do here with all the hike/bike trails, fishing, dog beach, water slides, and climbing wall. Beach is close by and your park pass covers the parking fees. Stayed in site 108, backed up to the parking lot for primitive camping and there just happened to be boy scout camping groups there. So some noise, but quiet bt 10pm (the parks quiet hour). The Christmas lights were being strung around the park for the annual parade of lights, yet the staff found time to do daily maintenance and cleaning. We were impressed. We arrived on Sunday and stayed 3 nights. The rain on Monday night was impressive too, raising the level of a drainage ditch to near-fishing levels. We joked about installing pontoons on the PU. There is a wonderful fishing dock in the park, a water park, kid's activities, etc. We will visit this one again, soon. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We camped during the month of June. We found this campground to be a wonderful place to visit. It has a lot of activites. The park itself has miles of bike trails, a small water park (extra fee, but reduced for campers), fishing, free spray water area, play ground, offered pancake breakfast while we were there, crabbing with instructor, carnival for the kids, canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and a 50 ft climbing wall (my kids loved this). The bath houses were ok. I think they could have been a little cleaner, but they were fine. The toilet had clogged but by the next day was fixed. The laundry was affordable. I did a load for $2.00 (wash and dry). The staff was very nice. When we arrived someone had parked in our spot and were not there to move. The management wrote them a note about needing to move asap in the morning. They do have a clause that states sites are not guaranteed. We parked in another spot for that night and moved the next morning to our reserved spot. This was a slight inconvience. A follow-up system would have been a nice addition to the campground to avoid these things. It was about 15 minutes from the beach. You can park at the other county park at Folly Beach for free with your campground parking pass. Overall, this is a nice place to camp and be very active. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

paved interior roads . Lots to do at the campground and in Charleston. They offer a shuttle bus to the city or to the beach for a small fee which was very convenient. We were fortunate to be there for thanksgiving weekend for the festival of lights, it was terrific. I can't say enough positive things about this campground. We will definitely go back. This campground is ok. Most of the sites are fairly private, but because this is a county park, there is no control of people walking through the campground. We witnessed several fist fights between teens outside the rec hall. The toilets in the bath house were out of order for most of the time we were there. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We LOVED this campground. About 10 easy miles to Charleston. Plenty to see, do, enjoy in area. Campground itself was a delight - it was our idea of a perfect place to spend one nite or many nites. They have only 4 washers and 2 dryers available for over 200 sites and only 2 restroom facilities. Wi-Fi is an old Tengo system (11 Mbps) with lots of sites but it did not work while we were there. The front office staff was so nice. Aside from the fact that the spaces are too close together so that your front door opens onto your neighbor's sewer hook up, it's a pretty good park convenient to Charleston. They are really dog Nazi's, but there is a big dog run available. The concrete slabs are just barely long enough and then slope down to grass so it's hard on 5th wheels. Only 4 little washers for a big park and 2 dryers, so plan on doing laundry in off hours. Not even a sink in the laundry area, so bring your own handiwipes or paper towels. A lovely setting and close in. I'd come back here when visiting Charleston, but I'd request a better site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Well kept RV park. 30 minutes to downtown with traffic. Publix within walking distance, Walmart 10 minutes. TengoInternet which is very slow (I don't know why anyone uses them). No cable TV available. Many different site ground cover but all seem level. Sites have enough room between them. The middle of the park is the quietest. The entry road is a series of speed bumps - a few too many for my liking if you leave the park several times a day. The pool is at the front of the park near the highway. Nice fishing pond. The staff greeted us as we departed and asked if we enjoyed our stay and welcomed us to return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent RV park. Rate shown is before GS discount. They advertise as the closest campground to Charleston--maybe 25 minutes to downtown with traffic. Walmart, etc. is 10 minutes. As previous reviewer mentioned, they use TengoInternet which is very slow. But I got 4G connections from Verizon on my MiFi. They have every kind of site from grass to pea gravel to paved. Mine was pea gravel and double wide, easily long enough for my 40' RV and tow. Ask for site in the open to get satellite. Park is well laid out with ample room between sites. Some road noise on far north end of park; otherwise quiet enough. A previous reviewer mentioned speed bumps--whining in my opinion. We'd certainly stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

As noted elsewhere the WI-FI is very slow and difficult to connect to. They use a 3rd party service and all connections are through their server which slows it down considerably. We were there in November and the washrooms were barely warm. Traffic is very busy on the road outside the park making entry and departure tricky. There are three gas stations within a block as well as grocery and drugstore. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This was the first campground that my grand kids and I ever stayed in after first buying our RV. All sites are level and the campground is meticulously well maintained. The prices were very reasonable. The surroundings are very pretty. The office staff were not very friendly, but the owner was exceptionally kind. The pool is small, but a welcome addition and the laundry facility was really, really small and quite hot & humid. The bath & shower facilities were older, but clean. We had a good Wi-Fi signal and a clear cell signal with Sprint. We would definitely stay here again. It was very quiet and the kids found lots of friends to play with during our stay. This campground had a very "plantation" feel--huge oaks, Spanish moss, lots of trees. We were pleasantly surprised for an RV park in such an urban environment. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed all the sights of Charleston and local plantations and historic sites. The campground staff were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable, right down to a delightful referral to a local restaurant with a breakfast buffet that was a real southern feast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to any RVers wanting to enjoy the Charleston area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice little park. The grass sites are super level and spacious. There is the biggest dog park I have ever seen. The grounds are nicely kept. Two things hold down the score a bit. There is no cable TV and if television is important to you, check your satellite or antenna before you run your jacks and hook-up. The beautiful trees block most signals and you will need to find a site with a signal. Also, traffic is awful as you enter and leave the park. It is not their fault, but it is a huge issue. That said, we enjoyed the park and would probably stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a pretty nice park with open areas and good sites. Most are level and easy to get in and out of. Way too many speed bumps though, and only 4 washer and 2 dryers available for the whole park. We travel full-time for work, so stay in a lot of campgrounds. I would have given this a much higher rating if not for the attitude of the security staff, primarily the one who I understand is one of the managers. We liked this park. We stayed for a month. My rate is $700/month (including electric) divided by 30. This park has the feel of a state park. Much shade around the perimeter and reasonable shade in the middle. We were here for the month of July and shade was important to us. When we arrived, we were taken around the park in a golf cart and offered our choice of at least 10 different spots. The park was probably only about 50% full during our stay. The office staff was very nice. While hooking up I discovered that only half of the 50amp service was working. I called the office and within 5 minutes 2 maintenance workers arrived to change a breaker and fix the problem. Major grocery store (Publix) about 1/4 mile away. Wal-Mart and Home Depot about 3 miles. We would definitely stay here again. Now, the downside. Turn in for the park is about 150 yards from an incredibly busy intersection during heavy traffic. Forget about turning left into the park or turning left out of the park during those times. Traffic backs up past the turn when the light is red. The swimming pool is in the very front of the park (near the heavy traffic) and no bathroom at the pool. The only bathroom is in the middle of the park so it's a long hike from the pool. I chose to drive. Ants were horrible during our stay. Within 24 hours, we had ants in our cabinets. The ants were "everywhere" and we weren't the only people with ant issues. Our neighbors actually borrowed our ant repellent. The RV Park says they regularly treat for ants but based on the number we saw, not near enough. They were coming up all four jacks, the water hose, and electrical cord. I went on the attack with liquid sprayed around and under the coach. Also sprinkled granule repellent around my area. Lastly, the park isn't really close to any of the area attractions; e.g., beach, downtown, plantations. Everything "touristy" was 12-15 miles away. All of the negatives aside, we had a wonderful stay at this park and we would definitely return to this park if we are ever back in Charleston. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a week while visiting Charleston. The sites are very level and landscaped nicely with stones. They are easy to get into and out. The pool is very nice but about a quarter mile from most campsites. No cable and acquiring a local TV station was difficult with our antenna. Our only complaint was the poor Wi-Fi. Three basic problems: Wi-Fi is FREE, but most of the time it does not work and is sooooooo very slow - might as well not have it. No cable TV and only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Very good campground, and we are picky. First the bad. Wi-Fi is not very strong and often overwhelmed. Also, access out of the park is into a high traffic area, so better turn with the flow and U turn toward Charleston. There are 13 small yellow walls across the road referred to as speed humps and they could damage your tow bar (but there is room to unhook/hook up at the entry). And, it is somewhat difficult to get satellite TV reception due to tall trees. Now the good part. The park is big. The pads vary from grass to gravel to cement, but all are wide and long. It is clean. Staff is helpful. And, for bonus points from us, this has the biggest off leash dog run we have ever encountered. It is quiet. This is the best park for a visit to Charleston and we would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We just stayed here for 3 nights and we enjoyed it. The park is very quiet and the people staying at the campground were all extremely friendly. This is a no frills kind of place, it has a small playground, a pool (but we had no use for that), and a dog run. The dog run is nothing more than a fenced in piece of land but our dogs loved it! We took them 4 times a day and they were good and tired after each trip. I felt very safe here and would definitely stay here again. It's pretty close to Downtown Charleston and it's next door to a Publix so the location is quite convenient. My only complaints are that the bathrooms could have been cleaner and the speed bumps were brutal, I will never understand why they have so many in an RV Park. One last thing, they are VERY strict about their 10 mph speed limit. We were going 12 and they stopped us and told us to slow down. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We are looking for a secure campground with level sites that are big rig friendly. Our 5th wheel is 37' with a slide on each side and the pull thru site we were assigned was excellent. We stayed here in April at $35.80/night with Good Sam. Oak Plantation is a very nice, big rig friendly campground. The staff is very efficient and accommodating. We stayed in site D4, which is a nice pull-through, full hook up site positioned directly across from the cabins. There are no trees on this site and the gravel is very small, making your chairs etc., sink. We did not utilize the two convenience station’s; however, I did peak in and they were clean but older. The Wi-Fi was intermittent at best even with our booster. No cable TV was offered and we had to pay nightly for a fire ring. The fishing pond is inhabited by alligators and there are no trails, just the roadways around the campground. Overall, this is a convenient location in Charleston and we enjoyed our stay. Check in was quick and the office staff was friendly and pleasant. Our pull through site was an average size but was easy to get into. Our site and the entire park was very neat and tidy. The pool and surround are small but nice and clean. The Wi-Fi is a bit tricky to connect to, but once you figure it out seems to work okay. Bathhouses over 100 yards (300 feet) from about 40% of the sites. No campfires. No at site garbage. No outside kitchen sink. Water hook up leaked. No screening between sites. Sites are level. Water pressure and electricity are good. Black/Grey water connection is good. Excellent picnic table. Grounds kept very clean. Water surrounds park where highways do not, but highways are well screened. Nice Publix grocery store near. Very good laundry. Interior roads paved and in very good shape. Nice playground and pool. This campground is for large motorhomes. It can handle small stuff (we are a 17' HTT (pop out)), but is designed for folks who shower, cook and clean in their rigs. Plenty of maneuvering room and anything close to an overhanging limb trimmed back. We'll look elsewhere next time for a fire ring. From a 10 subtract 1 each, Wi-Fi, fire ring, bugs, kitchen sink, site garbage, water leak, bathhouse distance. Add 1 for extraordinary maintenance, cleanliness, play area and road condition exceeding expected. To another comment: There are 12 very effective speed humps within 1/2 mile of main road. This was our third campsite on our own as we are new campers. We are in our 30's and have three dogs. We were looking for a fenced in dog run and they have it here. The speed limit is 10 mph which makes it very safe to walk around. Our site was GG2 and it's not paved and not private at all. Since we have the dogs we like to stay away from all the action so they don't bark or bother other campers. We asked the gentleman when we checked in but because of the wet ground he recommended we stay at the site because it can be very soft otherwise. The site is very well cared for. I do wish the dog run was split in two, one for big dogs and one for small. We have big dogs and when the small dogs bark continuously while the owners put them on a leash it is very irritating. A leash-off dog park is leash off not leash-on and then let your dog bark constantly. People have complained about the road noise and we haven't heard anything and we are pretty close to the front. The Wi-Fi is horrible. We are closest to the main house so the signal should have been the best. We just tethered off our Sprint cell phones. Pulling out onto the Savannah Pkwy left from the site is very dangerous. Our neighbor arrived around 8pm and asked us if it was OK he run his generator because the site he is on didn't have 50 amp. Not so great. Overall, I am not sure if we would recommend this site based on our personal preferences. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the nicest public campgrounds on the east coast. The sites are level. There are plenty of pull-troughs for big rigs, and there is no problem getting satellite reception, especially if you let them know in advance that you have that requirement. We use a Verizon air card for Internet and got a strong signal. We stayed in the park over Christmas and it was fairly empty. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn’t care much for the speed bumps. This campground is close to anything you may want to do while in Charleston. Restaurants, shopping, and the tourist sites are all within easy driving distance. Diesel is available right next door at the Hess station with easy access. We will stay at this campground anytime we are in Charleston. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Price reflects discount and taxes. This is a great park with large spaces, good roads, level sites and beautiful trees. This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in. It's an easy drive to downtown Charleston, approx. 10 miles. The staff here was very friendly and helpful. This is the only park that I have ever given a 10 rating. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park with level sites. Lots of pull throughs with FHU. Clean modern facilities. Basically a huge open area with rows and rows of sites some with pads, some on grass, some on stone. Site size depends on section. Traffic noise pretty constant from roads on the perimeter. Was given a site under a large Oak and was shelled with nuts and debris from the tree. Thanksgiving potluck was great! My only complaint is a speed hump about every 60 feet and I was way in the back so it was very annoying. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this campground over the recent Thanksgiving holiday. To my great surprise staff was in the office and on duty on the grounds when we arrived on Thanksgiving Day. Staff was very helpful and courteous. In spite of how full the campground was it was very quiet – there is more background noise from nearby roads and the railroad but we did not find that to be offensive. There is no “woodsy” ambiance, rather the feeling is more like a residential neighborhood with regular rows of sites. The grounds are very neatly kept and litter-free. Campground staff patrol regularly. There is a pool but it is located near the entrance to the campground, well away from the vast majority of campsites. All sites are level; many are pull throughs and many have a concrete pad. Grassy sites are available, too. Most sites have at least a little shade for a portion of the day. The size of individual sites can vary; some are on the small side. The majority are moderately spacious unless you have a site on the end of a row – these sites have the most “elbow room.” If you want to have a campfire you must rent a free-standing fire pit from the office. The bathhouses are very nice – modern, well-appointed and relatively clean considering the heavy use they saw over the weekend. The campground store does not have much in the way of groceries but there are so many local places to get food that this is not an issue. Rate reflects total of six in my party. My only issues with this campground were 1) the Wi-Fi – free, but difficult to get a connection and very slow speed once you are connected, and 2) speed bumps every 50 yards on the main thoroughfare. This is a very nice park with an excellent, friendly staff. They have a very large fenced dog run which we appreciate. The sites are large and level. Close to area restaurants, shopping and Charleston. The negatives are (1) no cable - that is OK because there are several digital air channels. however, (2) the Wi-Fi - though free, did not work at the sites. We were able to access from the office. It is free Wi-Fi but if it does not work it does not matter that it is free. I'd rather pay and have good service. We would go back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice campground: attractive, well-maintained, very long sites. Lots of trees (some sites will have problems with satellite access). All roads are paved; most sites are gravel, some are paved, some are grass. Numerous, convenient trash containers. The Wi-Fi is free, but it is Tengonet and we couldn't get connected. However,Verizon has 4G service that worked well. The road out front is busy, but it is a wide thoroughfare and there is no problem getting here. I gave it a "9" rather than a "10" just because nothing is perfect. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The rate show represents a Good Sam's discount. Overall the camp has many great points. It is very quiet at night, paved interior roads, very large sites, many are concrete, some are gravel, all are pretty level requiring little adjustment in setup. Water, sewer, electric on the full hookup sites are all well placed for ease of use. The points that drag the rating down were: no cable TV (several good air channels); Wi-Fi offered but I never could get hooked up; speed bumps (way too many). These points may not mean much to some. There was lots of shade, plenty of trash locations close to sites without having to take stuff half way across the campground. We loved being able to walk at night as the park is fairly well lit and well arranged. The showers were clean and well maintained. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place. All sites appear to be level, and our gravel based site was smooth and clean. The entire park is clean and very well maintained. The staff was friendly and most helpful with questions. Even though we use the facilities in our RV, I usually check out the parks restrooms. The ones here were all tile and were very clean and fresh. They do not have cable TV (a 1 point deduction) and their Wi-Fi was weak and slow.(Another point deduction). The park is convenient to down town Charleston, but traffic on US 17 can be really busy. However, we will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is beautifully landscaped and exceptionally well maintained. Although it is a bit of a distance for sight seeing in Charleston, it is not a difficult drive and our stay of 8 nights was most enjoyable. The sites are spacious with nice level concrete pads. We had plenty of room for our 33' motorhome and car on a dolly on our pull-thru site. Fuel and a supermarket are less than 1/4 mile away. The staff were all knowledgeable and extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback that we found was that the laundry is a bit small for the size of the park. We were sorry to have to leave this park and we highly recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very clean and well maintained campground. Sites are very well set up and good. We came in at 10:00 a.m. and lady in office said their rules didn't allow early check in and after suggesting leaving early to compensate, she said that was against the rules. She did finally allow us to set up early. There are good paved roads with 13 speed bumps that you have to use to get to your camp circle. Although there are many networks in the park, Wi-Fi doesn't work in some locations, we were in N5. This campground is far from downtown Charleston. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful, well maintained campground with lots of large trees. Roads in the campground are paved which is a real plus. The staff is friendly, but not always knowledgeable about the sites. We were here 10 days and saw someone different each time we were in the office. The trees are beautiful but make satellite reception difficult. Staff did not have information on what sites reception would be best (If you visit the park sites in the middle of the OO,PP, and QQ rows are your best bet if you want satellite.) The pool is nice, but close to the road. I would have rated this campground 10 except for the laundry which is inadequate for a park this size. It only has four washers, is very small with no room for folding and is very hot. Also, the Wi-Fi is the worst I have ever experienced in a campground. I have had dial up that was faster, and the signal was very inconsistent. There were days when I could not get a connection at all. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very neat, clean and quiet park. Pull through sites are packed gravel and long enough to hold a 40' fifth wheel w/long bed truck. Front PT's have no shade (closer to pool and entrance) and the back area PT's have more sites that are shaded. Back in's are mostly shaded. Some sites grass or pad but seemed to be smaller. Bathrooms need updated and have evening cleanings (marked yes & no above). Has a small laundry and pool for the park size. But they are nice. There is no cable TV and too many speed bumps. Thus the 7 1/2- 8 rating. Used a coupon given for Gilligans: good food $-$$. Will return since nothing mentioned was bad enough to prevent a nice stay! Oh, listened to cows moo and saw a red fox in the morning hours, 6-7 am, along the fence line. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A great location for exploring Charleston and the surrounding islands. Office has sightseeing brochures, etc. Speed bumps through the park that many other reviewers complained about didn't bother us a bit. Our FHU site (G8) was a good size, with a long gravel parking pad and some grass. Also, many trees in our section for some shade. FHU sites in the back of the park are smaller and gravel only. Many conveniences are right next door to the campground (grocery, drug store, gas stations, fast food). Beware of ants! The people camping next to us awoke to a coach full of ants one morning! We found them just in time: crawling up our power cord. Plan to spray around the perimeter of your coach, set traps, etc. No cable TV here and stations available with antenna/digital converter box were very spotty. Would definitely stay here again when in the area or just passing through. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a clean, quiet park handy to Charleston attractions. Most sites have some degree of shade; however, a few are directly in the sun. The sites in what I suppose is the newer section have very long compacted gravel pull throughs while some of the older sites have concrete pads which may not accommodate some longer trailers and 5ers. Please note that the entrance to the park is located on a major road and is very busy during rush hour so try to time to arrival and departure accordingly. This park is the perfect location for visiting Charleston. We stayed for a week. Most of the sites are very spacious pull thrus, some with shade, and the grounds are manicured. We had problems with our power pole and, within minutes of our reporting the issue, had immediate resolution. The quick response was impressive considering this was over a holiday weekend. The pool is small, but the weather was so hot it was a welcomed amenity. While the laundry room is very small for the size of the park, there is a laundromat across the street. The people that own it and work there are very annoying. If you don't have your car tag up they track you down. They have many rules, i.e. if you arrive before noon they charge you for the previous day. But they don't tell you that when you make a reservation. There is not one, not two but 8-10 speed bumps. The pool was shut down for a couple of days right after the Memorial Day weekend, but there were still quite a few campers there. The hook ups are good, although many of the sites are very treed so you can not get satellite reception. The sites are level. Some are nice gravel sites, but most are grass, but the price is the same. It's hard to pull out left due to traffic. I would find another site next time we are in the area. Great experience. We booked this site last minute and glad we tried it. It was only available for one night (Memorial Day Weekend). The campground was clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and clean well maintained bathhouse. They do have speed bumps because the roads are so well maintained you can actually speed. Upon arrival the grounds looked to be well groomed, mowed and very clean. The playground area is small. It contains 4 swings and one small set of monkey bars. The trash cans sit at the end of each row. Most interior roads are paved. The road leading into the campground has loads of speed bumps. The 10 mph speed limit is strictly enforced. The dog run is huge. But, it is located well away from the main camping area. The free internet here was worth what I paid for it. It was spotty at best, painfully slow, and several bugs tried to find their way onto my laptop. The site (O4) we where in was mostly level. The entire campground was reasonably level. We had a concrete pad and some gravel around it. There were some trees and a few hedge bushes here and there between the sites. The pool was a long way from the campsites and was right next to the main highway. It was clean and in good repair. The bathhouse was clean and in good repair. The location is a good one for exploring the Charleston area. But, getting out onto the hwy can be a bit tricky. The staff here has been mostly friendly. I did get a look at a gator in their pond. It was around 6 foot long. Overall I’d give this place a low 6. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate is based on Good Sam discount. The site and facilities were adequate for a short stay. Place is well maintained with strict rules and huge speed humps to keep everyone at 10 mph or less. There is a pool with no clubhouse or bathhouse facility, no exercise room, and no cable TV. Would have rated this park higher except for poor business practices. We made a reservation 2 months ago with a nonrefundable deposit and an agreed upon total cost and number of days. We reconfirmed this reservation the day before arrival. We feel that this constituted a legitimate contract. However, when we arrived we were charged another 15%. When we questioned the accuracy, the owner very rudely announced that his prices were subject to change without notice and that his taxes had gone up. 15%? No mention of course about our nonrefundable deposit, so we were stuck. There were plenty of open sites, so we suggest avoiding a reservation with a deposit and be prepared for unannounced price increases. We will not return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Yes there are speed bumps but with a long, level paved road I can see how controlling speed would be a problem here, and they are serious about it. The pool is small and near the highway but was clean and usable. Traffic on route 17 (park entrance) during rush hours is extremely heavy. Sites are reasonably large, grass, trees, and landscaping is well maintained. Park was quiet when we were here. I think if you are looking for lots of activities, wildlife (4 legged kind), hiking trails, a water park for dogs, and a park like setting James Island may be a better choice for Charlotte. Beautiful area, but a few negatives that really took away from things here. The facility is really large with a few hundred sites. However, the pool is right on the busy road, so you feel a little out of place wearing a swimsuit in front of the highway. Be prepared for some insane speed bumps, too. Our site was near the back, and there were no less than a dozen speed bumps we had to cross each time we left, some of which scraped the bottom of our car. We had read the previous reviews and were hesitant about this campground, but we went anyway and decided we loved their big/spacious pull through sites. The laundry room was spotless, and they were very pet friendly. Previous posts talked about the speed bumps -- and yes, they are there so watch out. They have security watching to make sure no one is going over the 10 mph speed limit and the Wi-Fi doesn't work well. Those are all non-issues for us. We thought it was well located to Kiawah Island beach area. Plus it was only a beautiful 10 minute drive into Charleston; 15 over to Folly Beach. We would definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Where do I begin, other than this campground is the WORST campground my family has ever stayed at. If you want to get eaten up with mosquitoes and infested with ants/fleas, then this is the place to stay! After our 1st night we noticed ants everywhere inside our camper. My husband went to the office to see if someone could come and put out some bug/ant repellent and was told that, "we don't spray for bugs." She then showed him the Terra ant killer which was 5 bucks for him to purchase! "This works well!" You have to walk to the main road where there is a row of trash cans to place your trash. This is very inconvenient. The speed bumps are ridiculous, and you may need to have your car serviced after leaving!!! The lake in which you can fish without a license is more like a pond and mosquito cesspool. The pool is located right on Hwy 17 with no privacy! Plus there isn't a bathhouse at the pool; you have to walk a country mile just to use the bathroom. So please go to the restroom before entering the pool. The bathroom stalls don't have locks on them, and the doors stay open for all the world to see. The only POSITIVE thing I can say about this place is the shower stalls are clean! By the way, just down the road is a Super Wal-Mart so don't go to Publix for groceries. They are so expensive! Another thing the owners of this campground fail to mention on the site and phone. So what if this campground is the closet to Charleston? I would rather sleep in my car! Go down to James Island instead. What I saw of that park is really nice! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed here for about a week in June. First, let me say your choices are fairly limited in Charleston, and this park is one of the closer ones to the Old Town (tourist) part of the city. It is clean and relatively quiet. Now, we will confirm and elaborate on some things that have already been stated by other campers. The WiFi here is so slow it simply cannot be used by anyone other than very casual surfing. If you work or need a decent connection, you will not be able to use theirs. The speed bumps are more than an annoyance. After a week of going over them, we could not wait to leave. One day, while driving our car to our site, and driving the perimeter of the park to at least avoid a couple of them, the owner chased me down and warned me about "speeding." I was driving in at around 15 miles per hour (limit is 10). When my wife went to the office the next day, she was also warned that they would not tolerate "speeding in the park." Be warned. These people mean business and will not hesitate to call you down if you "misbehave." Great for a vacation right? Just like the Marriott! We will make plans next time we vist Charleston, to stay at the James Island County Park. It's a bit more expensive, but has all the amenities of this place, is a little closer to town, and you probably won't be chased down for driving 15 miles an hour! (Price is with Good Sams). Our favorite park. It's always immaculately groomed and maintained, and we don't mind those often complained about speedbumps at all (controls the riff raff population). Dog friendly and our four dogs consider it home away from home. Easy access to gorgeous Charleston and Kiawah Island: so much to do in the area. One pet peeve / complaint but it concerns guests, not the park. Although owners strive to insure folks handle and clean up after their pets, shame on those guests who repeatedly let their pre-teen and younger children walk their dogs around the campground. Ever see a young child clean up a dog's waste? That ain't gonna happen, so be reasonable parents! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a week. Park is nicely keep and pretty but we were put way in the back in back row with people that seem to live here. I don't know why as there were empty spots up front. Noise from roads behind park at times was very loud, especially firetrucks. Water is terrible, even through our filter. We had to buy water to drink and make coffee. You are a long way to town and things to see. There are no refunds if you want to leave early. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were here for a week, not far from downtown Charleston. Interior road is paved, site is grassy with nice shade tree, but got dog satellite reception as well as TV. Large park and plenty of places to walk dog. Have a huge enclosed dog park which we liked as we could let our 3 beagles off their leases. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Restroom and showers are nice an very clean. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great park. We stayed here in a 43 foot motorhome in a back in site in the M row. The concrete pad was a little small for our rig but the site was level and reasonably wide so that we weren't on top of our neighbors. The park is pretty well treed (there was a large oak tree directly behind us that hung over the rig) and the trees appear to be well taken care of. There were severe storms with high winds during one day of our stay and we didn't notice any downed limbs. Because of the trees, satellite reception is difficult however. Local TV reception was sketchy. The staff was friendly and the checkin process was quick. The park is about 10 miles from downtown with shopping nearby. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Of all the campgrounds we have stayed in, this is the best maintained and cleanest. All sites are level with properly working utilities. The speed bumps can be annoying but do control speeding in the park. The sites are not huge but large enough for your RV and toad parking next to it. The Wi-Fi works well, but is Tengo slooooow. Nice, shady, quiet campground just outside Charleston. Lots of space between sites. No cable TV, but our antennae picked up several network channels. We don't tow a vehicle, and there are no campgrounds in Charleston or on the bus route. We were concerned about what to do with our cats while we were sightseeing, but the Visitor's Center has covered RV parking for just $10 all day. Although we got hot walking around town, our pets were plenty cool. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had a spacious (long and wide) pull-through site. The roads were paved and roomy with tons of speed bumps; I guess they must be extra serious about their speed limit. All the sites were grass and mostly level: we needed a board on one side. The campground had gorgeous landscaping with plenty of space between sites and mature trees. Our campsite was near the clean bathhouse and had a picnic table. We had no trouble finding the park, and it was easy to access it from the road. The location was very convenient compared to other parks in the area; it was 25 minutes to the Fort Sumter ferry. The park Wi-Fi seemed to be fine, but we used our Verizon Aircard instead, and it worked great. The playground was pretty minimal, but the kids seemed to enjoy it. Our price did not include sewer and was with the Good Sam discount. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a really beautiful park as far as looks go. It does have WiFi which requires signing on every time you want to go on line. The speed bumps are deal breakers to us. There is about 15 of them and they are awfully hard on the rig. They have no cable TV and due to the amount of huge trees it is hard to find a signal for your satellite. Several people just gave up while we were here because they couldn't lock on. It took us several hours, but we finally got locked in. WE find it expensive ($675/mo) for what is offered. The water pressure is very low also. The cement pad pull throughs at the back of the park are nice and wide but require going in and out over all the speed bumps. They have a captive audience because they are the closest RV park to Charleston. If you love live oaks with moss and don't mind speed bumps, stay here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a really nice campground literally in a grove of oak trees with Spanish Moss. Had roomy sites, and was well laid out. Most were pull-throughs. Campground is convenient to Charleston and all the city has to offer. We enjoyed our short stay en route to Savannah. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This place is nice enough. But after 3 or 4 days of the many, many speed bumps I was ready to move on. I'd really begun to dread going in or out of the place when having to deal with the bumps. They are excessive and irritating. Location is good for sight seeing, but the traffic around the campground is horrendous and it's hard to turn out onto the main road most of the time. The pool looks fine but sits about 30 yards from the main highway. Not only would you be stared at by passing motorists but the noise would be incredible. Consequently no one ever used it. Walgreens, Publix and Waffle House are within walking distance. If not for the bumps I would have given this place a higher rating. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It's a nice park. It's very clean and has friendly and efficient staff. All utilities work well. WiFi signal is the best I've seen, although TengoInternet's insistence upon logging in nearly every time is a nuisance. Pool is right on the highway with no protective screening or planting. As stated in other posts, there is no cable TV, and satellite reception is quite difficult due to the many mature shade trees. Digital broadcast TV is adequate if you don't mind network programming. Verizon signal is very strong, both voice and broadband. Water in the park is overly softened, making everything slippery. Good for plumbing, but tastes brackish. Suggest you purchase a jug of spring water at the nearby Publix supermarket for coffee and drinking. Park has too many speedbumps! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park with mature trees between sites. Paved interior roads, pads are concrete or gravel. Full hookups conveniently placed. Mostly pull throughs, some back ins. Friendly and efficient staff. Credit cards accepted. In order to encourage 10 MPH speed limit, they have installed extreme 0.1 MPH speed bumps. Picnic tables, but no fire rings. Pool. Very good TV and Verizon signals. The rating should be a 10, but to be a 10, it has to be perfect. This campground is very, very close to a 10. The pull through sites are wide and long enough for a 42' coach with a toad. The coach sits on well packed gravel and there is grass on each side. There were plenty of trees, but we were in a site that did not have trees which worked well since there is no cable TV, had to rely on the dish. Other areas of the campground (mostly electric only sites) were heavy with trees, which made for a really nice appearance. The grounds are well kept, the staff friendly. The sites are well marked so we did not need anyone to lead us. Good shopping and other services are nearby. The pool looked nice, but we did not use it. Water pressure and electricity were constant. The campground has easy access from the north, but from the south you may have to wait a bit on traffic. If you are going to be in the Charleston area for a day, week or even longer, this places deserves careful consideration. We will definitely be back and soon. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Save yourself some grief and camp elsewhere. Unfriendly from check in to departure. Security guard rude. Pool uncovered and open but wouldn't let kids swim it. Charged $5 a night for campfire ring rental and did not want to deliver to site. Ridiculous, I never would give anywhere a bad review but can't help myself this time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for two nights. It is an attractive campground which must be beautiful when all of the foliage is out. The staff was both friendly and helpful. Bathroom facilities convenient and clean. Close proximity to a wide variety of big box outlets for shopping. Only drawback is no cable TV. However, watching television is not our top priority and over-the-air reception was excellent. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Well organized campground; spacious sites with trees sprinkled throughout. Very convenient to Charleston sites. The biggest drawback for us were the speed bumps that cross the main road of the campground. These were impressive and shook the car, not to mention the motorhome. Since we were parked further back in the campground, we were forced to cross 6-8 of these bumps each time we entered and exited the grounds. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nicely laid out park. Mixture of gravel, grass, and concrete sites. We were promised a pull through, but with the rain they were concerned about our weight and that we might sink. We got instead a back-in concrete site. It was fine, but in the trees where we could not get satellite. Wi-Fi was a hit or miss. Mostly miss for us. Roads here are new asphalt. Most sites are wide, 30 to 35 feet X 60 feet long with gravel or grass. You can pick type of site you wish at check in if site is open. This park is well taken care of, and you can see it. Our site had a table, 50 amps, water, sewer, and no fire ring. Park will get you one if you need it. Pool is in front of park, no problem as you have a parking lot close by. Park is very large in size and a great place to walk, bike, or walk the dog. Super Wal-Mart about three miles and lots of places to shop close by. We could pick up number of TV channels over the air and Sat dishes are no problem on most sites. Verizon cell phone worked well here. On Wi-Fi, this is the only small problem we found. Park is on DSL with download speeds of 684kbs and 123kbs upload. This size park should have a min. of 3.0 GB of bandwidth. You will find the system stopped if a number of people are on at the same time. Good part it is free. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I agree in general with the last two reviews. With no cable TV, digital TV reception tends to be intermittent, Wi-Fi is inconsistent, and the spacing of individual sites can be somewhat inconsistent. The pool is not in the center of the park, its up at the front, and it's a long walk to get to the pool from the back of the park. I rate this park higher, because we did have a spacious pull-thru, easy in, easy out, don't use the pool, and the park was very clean, quiet, seemingly being well maintained. Nice CG but some sites are much better than others. We were fortunate to get a spacious, very green grass, level site but others are very crowded with no shade. The sewers can be a bit close to your picnic table in some sites. Staff was friendly and generally helpful. Near a busy commercial road but surprisingly quiet. Park like atmosphere and lots of really nice trees. Roads excellent, sites are grass lawn with underlying gravel. Very nice. Utilities are convenient and spacing is generous. We had a nice pull through with a tree we really appreciated due to the 90 degree heat. The only thing that was a bit frustrating was internet access. The actual Wi-Fi signal was always strong, and sometimes the connection to the internet seemed like fast DSL, but sometimes it crawled, and most of the time it's nonexistent in the evening. Very frustrating and time wasting when your trying to plan the return trip,thus the lower rating. The park was far from full, so a few quests were using all the bandwidth downloading movies or or other large files. I hope management was not uploading the days business files. One park we visited had a solution to this by blocking internet hogs. This park should consider this solution. The rate shown above is with GS discount + tax. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I have been camping a long time in a lot of different campgrounds, but Oak Plantation has to be one of the nicest, cleanest parks I have ever stayed at. The traffic cop that was mentioned in some other reviews has now been gone for almost 2 years. The bathrooms were spotless and the WiFi signal was the strongest I have ever had in a campground. The only thing that would have made this park a ten is cable TV. I could only pick up two channels with the antenna, I am just warning you of this before you arrive. I will be back, next time with a satellite dish!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park-like setting (even a mansion!), lots of grass with either gravel or cement pads with very large sites. It rained every afternoon but the drainage was good so there was no flooding of sites. The restrooms were toothbrush clean, and the showers had built-in tile benches, lots of towel/clothes hooks and shelves inside the showers for your shampoo, etc! Grassy sites with gravel pads, mostly level; sites which are exceptionally spacious for a private campground. Some sites have good shade, most have some shade from medium to large trees; best shade is toward the back of the park. The campground is located near a major intersection on the outskirts of Charleston, so there is some road noise, but not bad except in sites near the front or back edges of the park. The sites are in loops designated with single letters (A, B, C, etc) are larger than those in double-letter loops (AA, BB, etc.) The showers are tiled, and clean; some toilets not seated well. We had rainy weather our entire stay, so the grassy areas tended to be a bit muddy, but could have been much worse. 10 mph speed limit in the CG is strictly enforced by the staff and "speed bumps." The Wifi worked well. It is a good place for an overnight or extended stay (there are some long term sites available which are kept very tidy). We would definitely camp here again. This RV campground is a very clean campground with level sites. We stayed in a pull through space that was level and had a nice surface of small white gravel. Utililties were well placed at each site and the electricity metered out at 114.9 volts. Picnic tables are at each site and the grassy areas well trimmed. The WIFI signal was iffy with periods of good signal, then no signal for a while. Our satellite picked up the signal perfectly. If you utilize a satellite, let them know as a lot of the sites have large shade trees. The restrooms and showers were clean and trash receptacles handy at the end of each row. Our stay was pleasant, although the park security guy patrolling on the golf cart was paranoid about anyone driving over 10mph. I was told three times to slow it down by this "camper cop" when I wasn't going any faster than the 10 mph posted speed limit in the park. It was the only negative we experienced while we were camped here. We enjoyed the park but probably won't stay here again because of the "speed nazi". We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

While the campground itself is well-maintained, the staff leaves much to be desired. While not outright rude, the staff is very unhelpful and borderline hostile. They were never able to offer any information on the area and, it appears, nobody that works there is from Charleston, as they could not give directions to anything other than the visitors center. One must wonder why people that so obviously dislike customers go into a customer service related field. Many of the campers there appeared to be long-term, thus giving the campground the flavor of a trailer park. Campers near our site had a full patio setup with table, chairs, umbrella and a full-sized grill. No activities were offered. Cable was not available - a problem in such a heavily-wooded campground. Overall, the park was too expensive for what you get. I would not stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the nicest campgrounds we've ever stayed at. The sites are large and everyone has lots of room. Easy to access and quiet. We're about 9 miles from Charleston and the only negative is the busy Highway 17 you have to drive but on the bright side, you have everything you need within an easy driving distance. One of the cleanest campgrounds we have stayed at with several wooded sites. Paved roads and no dust! Staff is responsive to requests and all facilities are well maintained. Only weakspot is Wifi is somewhat spotty but everything else met our expectations. Reasonably close to all the Charleston historical sites and restaurants. First the woman checking us in was extremely rude when we inquired about getting propane. Second we were sent to a site with no visible hook-ups. We made 3 calls to the office to try to get a different site. They finally picked up the 4th time when I was leaving a message. By that time we pulled into another site that was big enough for us. We were told the site was available but we couldn't stay in it because it had a sewer and we wanted water and electric. (They had plenty of sites open) She could not figure out another site to put us so we were 'allowed' to stay in that site. The site we were in was gravel and fine. We were able to pick up about 4 channels with our antenna. The Plantation home was very picturesque. We had planned on staying 2 nights but because of the rudeness of the front desk staff, only stayed 1 night and will not stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Even though we describe some negatives, we like this park and consider it a pleasant place to stay. Restrooms and large shower stalls are exceptionally clean, but toilet doors do not have latches (some swing open during occupancy) and showers have too few hooks. There are lots of trees, but they do not interfere with access to sites. Sites farther from park’s entrance have significantly less road noise. Some sections of the park have more space between sites than others. Because of slightly narrow lanes, some, but not all, sites may be tight for big rigs to enter and leave if sites across the street have toads or tow vehicles parked in inconvenient locations. There was free Wi-Fi with strong signal at our site, but no cable TV and, of six local stations, we could receive only NBC, ABC, and CBS. It is unlikely your GPS will recognize the campground’s address. For the town name, enter Johns Island, not Charleston. We found the best option is to enter into the GPS the intersection of Highway 17 and Main Road. If you are driving on northbound Highway 17, stay in the left lane (at this point, the highway is actually running east and west). The campground’s entrance is the first left turn after the stop light at the Highway 17 and Main Road intersection. You must cross two lanes of very heavy southbound traffic, so try to avoid arrival during rush hour (approximately 3:00 to 6:30 p.m.). If you are driving southbound on Highway 17, stay in the right lane. The campground’s entrance is on your right, and you have no other lanes to cross--the Highway 17 and Main Road intersection is a few hundred feet ahead, so if you pass it, you‘ve gone too far. The park’s entrance has a large white sign, but it is somewhat obscured by trees and easy to overlook, so it is possible to drive past the entrance. It may be worthwhile to call the office for directions and landmarks well ahead of arrival, because the phone is not always answered. As of April, 2009, ultra low sulfur diesel (diesel #2) was difficult to find in the vicinity of the campground. The closest location we found is about 5 miles at Sunoco at 1884 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston, SC (on your GPS). We recommend this park and would definitely stay there again. Due to a rally during the week we wanted, we were put on an uneven grass site which we were told was the last pull-thru available. We didn't like the $215 weekly rate which did not include cable and sometimes "iffy" WiFi, but it is location, location, location. Fairly close to downtown Charleston and all the islands and next to a Publix grocery store and 3 miles from a Walmart. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We like the park and its a great place to see Charleston. There seems to be a problem with trying to reserve a site.I called twice and was told no full hookups available. They would not take reverations for water and electric. When I got here they gave me a full hookup.I think the lady in the office did not want too bother. Beautiful location, about 4 miles from I-526. Quiet and peaceful park! We had a cement site, was not quite as level as we would have wanted, but good enough. Movies to rent and lots of books at the office. We had trouble with our 5th wheel's back levelers and the owner and his son came to our rescue and fixed our problem, and told us how to take care of it in the future. We would come here again. We had a quiet, shady, site away from the highway, and were able to get satellite TV on a tripod. The only thing we didn't care for was the taste of the overly softened water. We were in site D3 at the front to get satellite. In the summer it would be hot but it is difficult to get everything. We were able to get all four TV networks on digital broadcast. This is our second time at this park and I felt it was wonderful for what we wanted. The site was level and free of any obstructions for the slide out and hook ups. We stayed 3 nights and had ample time to see the city again. Nearby was a city park, called Angel Oak. It was by far the largest live oak I've seen and worth the short trip. This park is about 10 miles from Charleston. We were in space P3, which is at the front of the park. There are no trees in the front, and we caught full, direct sun through our windshield virtually all day. That was not the owner's fault, and we did ask for a spot where we could get satellite. The park does not have cable. For some reason, we could get Fox very clear on our antenna, but not ABC, NBC, or CBS. If you have a tripod then we recommend you ask for a spot in the back. It is very shady, and very pretty. There is no way could we have survived the heat in the summer. Their address did not show up on our GPS, and we suggest you call ahead, they are on a very busy highway, and we had to turn in front of very heavy traffic. If you love seafood, Gilligans is great. Its about .4 miles from the park. We made ourselves sick on steamed oysters. We would definitely return to this park, but would take our tripod and not use our Winegard. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice campground for a visit to Charleston. We were here 4 nights over Thanksgiving and this was about the 4th time for us. They could use more playground equipment. The interior roads are nice but many of the sites are dirt (or mud in the rain) ours had some gravel and was level enough to not use leveling jacks. The staff is friendly and helpful (as long as you don't exceed the 10mph speed limit). There are plenty of groceries and other conveniences nearby. We did hear some road noise but none of the train/ airplane noise mentioned in other reviews. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the second stay here. Staff was friendly. The site was level, although the pad was barely long enough to fit our 37' unit. One other problem we had was the sewer hookup opening was uphill, although that didn't appear to be a problem at other sites. Although there is no cable, we had excellent reception for the local channels and the WIFI was very good. There aren't many campgrounds in the Charleston area, but I don't think you'll find anything better in the area, especially for the rate. Stayed one night while passing through on our way home, and was very impressed. Grounds are very well maintained, spacious lots with what looked like new picnic tables. Wide streets to maneuver, and an abundance of pull through spots. Quiet at night, very friendly and helpful staff, we frequent the Charleston Area quite a bit and will definitely camp here again. My only wish is that the pool was more centered on the grounds, and that they would add more to their playground for the little kids. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is exactly my definition of a quality RV park. Lots of trees, grass, pool, and it was beautiful. Staff was nice and the grounds even better. Also there was not a lot of people that looked like they lived there with junk all around their RV like I see at many parks. In fact I didn't see ANYONE that looked like that. This is a spacious campground with trees for shade, and a picnic table at the site. We were parked near the back so it was quite a ways to the office, laundry and pool. The sites were level. We were here over Memorial Day weekend, and although it was busy we did not feel crowded. There is a strict 10 mph enforced. Wi Fi in our site was good but a slow speed. I discovered if I went near the office it was much faster. It is $5 a day or $15 for a week. The laundry was $1.50 for both washers and dryers. The dryers were large and things dried fairly quickly. There is also a laundramat across the street. TV reception wasn't the greatest and limited. We could not get sattelite but we have a dome. We would stay here again. It is close to Charleston and some of the plantations. The staff is very helpful, providing directions to many services and points of interest on a paper when you check in. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As previous post indicate this is a nice campground. WiFi is provided by Tengointernet and is not free. No Cable TV. Local TV is not clear with Batwing Antenna. We were in Site PP6 and could get DirecTV by setting Sat at end of site near road. There are some sites that you can not get sat signal due to trees. Zip is 29455, 45 220. Some sites are larger and some have grass area. I did not need to level the trailer. They will receive mail at their office. A new Wal-mart is close. They give you the locations of a post office, Lowes, Home Depot and other places. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We just returned from this campground and we were less than thrilled with our experience. The campground is nothing exciting. It has no cable and you have to pay a fee for really slow WiFi service. The location to Charleston is pretty good but the road it is off of is busy and there is a lot of road noise in the campground. The people that work at the campground are not very friendly and they are FREAKS about the speed limit. Trust me when I tell you, they have nothing better to do than to chase you down in a golf cart to tell you that you are driving too fast (when you weren't). None the less, we won't be making a return trip to this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great location if you want to visit Charleston, Kiawah Island or any of the many other towns in this area.The sites are level, very wide and it's very clean. We stopped at this park intending to stay three days and stayed nine as we found Charleston so attractive. The park is beautiful largely because of the huge Oaks and careful grooming. While the facilities are modest, those that are available are clean and inviting. Staffing is excellent. This is a beautiful, well-maintained park with sites that are very easy to access. There are a few sites on concrete pads but the sites that have gravel pads are quite level. The park does not have cable and, because of the many tall trees, satellite reception is a challenge. When we stayed there the park was not real busy and the manager was very accommodating in finding us a site with a clear view for our satellite. When the park is busy, I suspect that it could be very difficult to find a site where the satellite would work. This park has one of the best dog runs that we have seen. It is very large and is completely covered with grass. Getting in and out of the park is a little difficult due to the heavy traffic but there is an alternate route into Charleston that is longer but takes a lot less time during the rush hours. We loved Charleston and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

(GPS: 32.80218, -80.10542) In summary: The nicest campground restrooms we've seen since ???, but also the noisiest campground we've ever been in. Their brochure says "Landscaped for privacy and shade", but there is NO privacy (there ARE some tall shade trees). The place is one huge parking lot, where you can see from one end to the other. Likewise, noise travels from one end to the other. It's located alongside a major four lane highway, near the intersection with a fairly busy two laner. Trains pass nearby every hour or so at night with their horns blaring. AND, it's in the flight path of some heavy military cargo jets that pass overhead in the wee hours. As if this wasn't enough, on our second morning, a tree trimming crew arrived at 7:45 AM, fired up the chain saw, and proceeded to lop off branches. If you want peace and quiet, this is not the place to find it. Oh, and watch out for the mounds of fire ants (they didn't warn us). We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We use this wonderful park as a kind of second home and store our fifth wheel here as well. Staff could not be friendlier or more helpful, and the park owners put much effort into maintaining a super clean and efficiently run facility. This is one of the best parks we have experienced for dog owners, with the fenced doggie run area being a real treat, but shame on those guests who use it and don't clean up after their pets. Some reviewers have commented on strict speed campground/rules but we think a good park needs a certain amount of riff-raff control, and rules help in this respect. A great park for enjoying Charleston. Especially nice in winter. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

About 15 minutes out of Charleston. Sites were nice and wide. We were on a level concrete slab which made setup very easy. The bathrooms were not clean and smelled constantly of mothballs. Of the 4 toilets only 1 was not clogged. The showers were fine. Because the bath house was so bad, I couldn't recommend this camping site to anyone. My wife's gripe was that the brochure pictures are deceiving. Wireless is available for a daily fee. First place I have been to where they charged for wireless. Management was very friendly. OK, let me start by saying I thought this was a nice campground. The spaces were a bit narrow, but that wasn't a problem for us this time of year, as the one next to us was empty the entire stay. The roads are very narrow. Internet was expensive. Why aren't they all free? Contrary to the prior review, I found the staff to be very unfriendly. It seemed like it was a painful for them to help me at all (which is funny, since the only help I needed was to pay when we arrived and when I extended our stay, or to pick up our mail.) They were also a bit bitchy about the 10 mph speed limit. Also, the woman who checked us in could only recommend the restaurant down the street that gave a discount if you were staying at the park, though she had never been there. Not the best place as it turned out. In retrospect, this is really odd, as we found a wealth of great restaurants in Charleston, in all price ranges. You should know about the town you work in at an RV resort! Had the staff had a nicer, more helpful attitude, they would have gotten a higher rating from me. A little kindness goes a long way. This is a great park. It has pretty much everything you want or need onsite here and even a convenience store or 2 within easy walking distance. This is a very clean and well maintained park. They enforce the 10 mph rule very effectively. The fenced in off leash dog run is absolutely wonderful too, it was bigger than I expected, about 400x50 maybe. The staff was very friendly. I dont think you can go wrong here. The fishing pond was also much bigger than I had anticipated, usually when a campground advertises a fishing pond, its a little dinky thing, but this one was huge. I will definitely be back here when in the area We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a large park with many different types of spaces which can accommodate any size/type of RV. If you want trees they are available, if not that is available, too. This is a wonderful campground. It was very clean, and I agree that the pledge signed by pet owners must make a difference, as well as the presence of a specified dog run. The sites, particularly those in the rear of the campground, were spacious and level, many having cement pads. The staff was very friendly and most helpful. The bathhouses were cleaned often and kept in excellent condition. The pool, a bit small for the size of the campground, is way in the front by the highway - a bit away for many. Only real complaint was that the Wi-Fi that is available is a bit costly and was not operating the weekend we were there. Not the campground's fault, but it did prove to be a real inconvenience for us as my husband had brought work with him that required the use of the internet. We had to cut our visit a day short as a result. There is a very nice designated tenting area with large shade trees, and enough shade in the rest of the campground so if you wanted a shaded site it would probably be available. The traffic on Rt. 17 can be terrible here so do all you can to avoid arriving anywhere near rush hour!! Saw someone else recommend Gilligans as a good local spot to eat. Went there and was very unimpressed. The place wasn't very clean (maybe because it was packed) and the service was awful! Food wasn't all that good either! The campground was terrific however and we already made reservations to return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was a very pleasant surprise after a long drive from Florida. Beautiful park like setting with big trees (but not too many), nicely mowed grass, and paved interior roads. Some sites near the back have concrete pads but the grassy/gravel pull-through sites in the middle were much better. The sites near the back, i.e. "AA" were too close together. Go for the "G" or "H" lettered sites if making advanced reservations. Very pet friendly with a fenced dog run area. One interesting note is that you must sign an agreement regarding your pet and picking up after them. I didn't mind a bit, and noticed NO dog waste around the grounds. Charleston was great and try to go for the Tommy Dew walking tour of downtown: we loved it! A really nice seafood restaurant just around the corner on Main Rd. called Gilligans. Magnolia Plantation was interesting and the gardens were beautiful. Be Warned!!! turning across hwy. 17 coming from the Southwest is tricky with all of the weekend traffic. This is a very well operated RV park and nicely located to Charleston while maintaining a country setting. With cable TV this one would have been a "10" although you do get the local channels very nicely. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground! Manicured landscape with lots of shade and asphalt. The lot we stayed on was a nice level concrete slab. Pool was very clean as were the bathrooms and showers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful old oak trees with moss hanging from them. Only 9 miles from downtown Charleston. Only thing keeping it from a 10 would be the addition of cable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is a very clean well maintained park. We arrived late to find that our site was marked on the cg map and waiting for us. Many of the sites are very large pull throughs as was ours. The large site included 50amp service, water and sewer. The grass was well mowed on all sites, dog run, play ground etc. Some of the sites are back in sites, but many of those are paved with concrete pads or gravel. Large trees are throughout most of the campground so satellite may not work. The pool is small and at the front of the cg and a pretty good hike from most of the RV sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I did check out the bath houses and both were very clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I agree with all positive comments previously posted and would add that if anything, the bath houses are over-cleaned: on both mornings as we emerged from the showers we were met with cleaning ladies. Most parks don’t clean at 8:30 when the showers are being used. We were parked in the rear on grass sites with side by side hookups. The staff ensured there was an empty site on each side of us, so it was roomy enough, but it they ever fill up, you’ll sure get to know your neighbour! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 4 nights, the camp was clean and well maintained the staff was really great, and the dog run was wonderful for our little friend to be allowed to run loose for a little while. Very close to Charleston attractions. However, we did not like the closeness of the sites the neighbor's power/water/sewer hook up was under my awning once I put it out. Since the neighbor was my Sister it wasn't a problem but if it were a stranger being that close I would not have stayed there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a nice, quiet campground and well maintained. The site we got was huge! Management was very friendly and efficient. They had rules regarding pets and speed limit, but were not oppressive. There was a nice fenced-in dog run. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We used this website to make our decision to stay here and was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and all the equipment was in good working order. Well manicured lawns. We had one of many concrete sites. One side of the park has smaller sites than the other side but we got over it. We will return and bring the rest of the crew with us. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 2 weeks so they put us in the back. The back is 30 AMPs which was ok, however these sites are very small and cramped. I would think the office would consider this with a camper who is staying more than a few nights, as this cramped feeling is uncomfortable. There are other 50 AMP sites which are much larger, and you would appreciate the managment asking you if you would rather have a larger site since you are staying longer. I wasn't asked if I had a preference of a large or small site, only did I need 30 amps. I said 30 without knowing what that meant. Once back here we opted to stay as we were told we couldn't have a refund when we checked in. However, I think to be fair the management should let you know the sites in the back are small, and give you the opportunity to change. It was also very noisy due to traffic and road construction all hours of the night on the road behind the campground. I realize they can't control road noise though, and this is not a normal thing for the campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A quality RV park with wide streets and level sites. The park is maintained in an immaculate fashion, and people who work there are very professional. A definitely good place to stay in the Charleston area now that they have removed the "speed bumps" previously mentioned. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Just thought I would post a positive report about this campground. We stayed there 2-9 July this year. It was our first time at this campground and the overall experience was favorable. The pool was clean, the bathhouses were very clean. A small laundry is located on the property and another one is directly across the street. The staff was pleasant and except for one episode of teenagers crashing the place to search for hallucinogenic mushrooms in the cow pasture behind the property we loved it. Another benefit is the camper dealership next door to the campground. If you need anything major fixed they are very close. They are pet friendly and even have a fenced-in dog run where you can let you dogs run free. The only real drawback we had was the traffic on US 17 at the entrance of the campground. It was very difficult getting in and out of the place especially if you needed to turn left onto US 17. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The only thing that could have made this a better stay would have been to have air conditioning in the bath house. They made sure there was an empty site between each camper as they arrived. About 20 minutes after we arrived and started setting up another coule arrived to the site next to us and before they could start setting up the lady from the desk came and asked if they would like/mind to move over one site so there would be space between us. As we were leaving they came out to our TV and PU to see if we were checking out and if we needed anything. I didn't even have to get out of my TV. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Very nice campground. Easy access to major roads. Entrance is RV friendly. All interior roads paved. Many sites have small concrete pads, the rest are gravel or grass. Site are large by most standards. Park is in great condition, with clean bathrooms. Fishing pond on site with no fee/no liscense required. RV friendly gas station close by, as is a large mall and Wal-Mart. Downtown Charleston is about 9 miles. Only negatives: slight train/airplane noise and no cable TV. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Lot of nice work done to this park over the past years. All roads are now new blacktop, speed humps are now lower, lot of sites have been reworked and 50 amps. added in. WiFi is $4.00 per 24 hours and very good sig. in park. Most sites are level, no dust, low noise from Hwy. near by. Kids have equipment to play on. Good size fishing pool open to all RV people. Nice place to visit Charleston from. Trees are great! Some noise from train at times. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was an easy campground for sightseeing in Charleston, or visiting family, which was our reason for the visit. Other than that it was kind of ho hum. Not very attractive, but served the purpose for us. We had planned on staying at James Island County Park, but could not get a reservation. Glad we did not as the traffic for the Christmas Lights was pretty tough. I would imagine that it would be great at other times. The other thing about Oak Plantation, is that in the mornings there are a lot of military planes flying overhead. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground, although nothing spectacular, was fairly pleasant and very nearby Charleston. Staff are friendly enough, but not overly helpful with questions about nearby restaurants, etc. The speedbumps that are mentioned are a little excessive. Interior roads are paved and our site was thickly laid gravel. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice Campground near Charleston SC. Pool was clean and refreshing, but location was in
the front of the campground. Long walk from the sites in the back. The grounds were immaculate almost all of the sites had shade. The sites range from too close together to nicely spaced. Our slide was about 6 feet from the awning behind us. But some of the 50amp sites had a ton of room. The sites with the concrete pads and 30amp seem to be narrower than the gravel 50amp sites. Only negative is that you cannot reserve by site #. Management is very nice and easy to work with. No firepits are provided, however campfires are allowed. Some road noise, but not annoying. If in the area again we would consider this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent campground with both gravel and paved sites. The gravel sites have plenty of gravel and all sites are fairly level. Plenty of space, and no crowding. Would rate this a 10 except for the speed bumps. The speed bumps here (and there are plenty) are so big they have names--Mt. Charleston, Mt. John's, Mt. South Carolina, and so forth. They need to drop these bumps by about 8 inches or so. Other than this problem, it is a great campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A large campground. The spaces are pretty far apart (reasonable at least). Ours had a level concrete pad (pull-thru). Very far back from the highway, so you don't get a lot of noise. Convenient location to Charleston. There are some large speed bumps coming into the campground, so go slow--they're bigger than they look. If we return to Charleston, we'll definitely stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice place, no dumb rules, very nice grounds, large number of sites have 30/50 amp power, and pads to park on. Good place to see Charleston from. Sites off the road (Hwy 17) low road noise. Two speed humps as you drive in? Hard on large motorhomes. We plan to stay again. We camped here in a camper.

Easy in/out. Large level gravel sites with concrete pad. Right on a main road into Charleston. All pull thru sites. They do not have a shuttle as advertised. We camped here in a camper.
