We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 35' MH, about ten sites back from the beach. Easy beach access. The lanes are a bit tight: especially with vehicles parked in front. Just drive with care, and you'll be fine. We had 6 teenage girls with us, and they had a blast! We rarely saw them. We were able to use our slides, and awning, and have a tent on our site as well! This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach: we'll definitely return to this campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

First time here in Myrtle Beach. Nice campground. Big place but the sites were not that close to each other. Holiday weekend so it was packed. We were 7 spaces from the beach so it wasn't a long walk to the ocean. Have to pay extra for wi-fi which I didn't like especially for the price you have to pay to stay here. Friendly staff. Good cable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stay at this campground twice a year; usually for 3-4 nights while we visit family in the area. The staff are always good to us and we always get a site on the main st. within 5 or 6 sites of the beach. The sites in this area are all back in sites, we have a 40' RV and with a little skill its not too difficult to back in. The only complaint I have is the Wi-Fi; this campground and the Myrtle Beach Travel Park near by, which we have also stayed at many times, are the only RV parks that charge for Wi-Fi service. If you're there for only a couple days, it costs $9.99 a day for something almost all campgrounds that I have stayed at provide for free (like a loss leader). Because it's Myrtle Beach you have to watch the rates, they change seasonally. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The customer service here is the worst I have ever experienced. This lady was rude and lacks in any type of customer service, such as a friendly hi or welcome. First impressions are lasting impressions. The park is OK, although the spaces are short and it is hard to park all you rig. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

First time here, will come back. We had site # 235 trees for shade, site was large and we could set up without any issues. Pool was clean and they had activities. Staff overall was friendly. We did witness an interaction that was not up to par, but who knows what precipitated that situation. Our neighbors were friendly, helpful and a joy to have near us. Being a newbie they were more than willing to share insights. We hated to leave. Very close to many restaurants from reasonable to expensive..We ate at Barefoot landing-Umberto's, we go there every time we are here and have never been disappointed. CW and Wal-Mart if you need to pick up any last minute items. One draw back was we were close to Hwy 17. Personally once I fell asleep it was not an issue. Wi-Fi is available if you pay for it. We would come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground has large, level sites, excellent 50-amp electric, very clean restrooms. Our Verizon broadband card worked well and we had good satellite TV hookup. It's convenient to the beach, and other local sights. Just don't go over Memorial Day weekend (we left Friday morning), due to a motorcycle rally. Campground was quiet, but the road in front and nearby motel very noisy. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park was way too crowded. Sites were very small and uneven. We could not put our awning out because of the small site. We were told via phone earlier that morning that we would have a large site and when we arrived we got a skinny pull through site. While walking our dog, my daughter was hit by water balloons. I was grateful I did not have small children because it was too busy to let them ride bikes or play outside. Golf carts were everywhere but electric scooters were not allowed. They wanted you to rent one of their golf carts instead. It was a bad start to our family vacation. It also left me with a bad feeling for Myrtle Beach. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Stored our camper here, 2nd season we had it. That part is nice, convienient. This place is getting to be a dump and worst every time we come! I have been here several times already this year and the same things that were broken are still broken! Walked on the beach across from the play ground and I literally was scared we were going to step on some garbage that would send us to the hospital. What a dump the beach was! Pool deck was the same thing: food from the day before all over the place. Store restaurant was the same thing: full trash cans, trash on ground. Place is always full, so money should be no problem. Pay people to clean up the place, and be responsible for one area, all day! Fix the broken stuff, and clean the bath houses for God's sake! Disney is a great model to follow. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It was a bit tough wending our way through crowded Myrtle Beach traffic to campground. Very pleasant staff at desk. We were escorted to our pull-through FHU 30/20 site, but staff missed it on first go round so we had make the circuit again. Staff member did save us from accidentally leaving our surge guard when we left. We had to use blocks to level. Beautiful free pool, water park, jumping pillow, playground, fun dog agility play areas, nice store, large laundry. Free hourly shuttle to beach during day, although at 4-5 long blocks from beach it is quite walkable if you don’t have a ton of stuff. Trash pick up at site daily. The site was very messy with lots of mud and pine needles from the very thick trees overwhelming the rock and therefore was constantly tracked into motorhome. Tengo WiFi gave problems logging on and slowed to a stall at times despite being right by antenna. This is a huge campground and perhaps that overwhelmed the cleaning capabilities for the restrooms, which we found not at all clean and plagued by a screeching fan belt in a 9 pm bathroom and shower attempt, so daughter would never go back. Lots of golf carts and trucks exceeding speed limits. Nothing effective was ever done about our unfortunate neighbor who wouldn’t use a secure sewer connection despite repeated requests to him and management. This stunk up our grill area. All said, we would probably return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Love this campground! Lots of shade trees, it's about 3 blocks from the beach but they have a shuttle going every hour on the hour beginning at 10 AM. We are in site #161A, and it is level, with lots of space between sites. Have not been here before, but will return when in the area. We highly recommend this KOA. By all means if you are pulling up campgrounds for Outer Banks, check out the campgrounds at Waves, NC., but stay away from the KOA at Rodanthe, NC. because we had a bad experience there. The KOA here in Myrtle Beach is one of the nicest KOAs that we have stayed at. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Great park. Very clean bathhouses (cleaned at least twice a day while we were here). Roomy sites, particularly for the Myrtle Beach area: much more room than the ocean-front campgrounds. All sites were level that we saw and huge shade trees made them comfortable even when it was over 85' outside. Roads are paved, and each person is escorted to their site and assisted if desired, with placing rig on site. Campground is within comfortable walking distance of the ocean, along with CVS, and several restaurants. 2 very clean pools, along with 'baby pool', as well as a water 'splash' area that was great fun for us and our 18 month old grandson! Many scheduled activities during weekends in the Spring, more during the weekdays in the Summer. We have been here several times, and its obvious money has been spent to maintain a nice CG. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

What a great campground and beach! The location is terrific: walk out your door and you are walking on a boardwalk to the beach. Even though we made our reservation five months in advance, we were not able to get a space with full hook-ups. But, that didn't stop us from falling in love with this State Park and the surrounding area. Our motorhome is 38 ft with three slides, and we tow a truck...there was plenty of room in our site for all of our stuff! We will be coming back and if we can get full hookups, we'll be staying for a week or two. Campground is also close to Murrell's Inlet, which has great seafood markets and restaurants. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a well-run state park, with a lot of facilities. All of the sites seem shady, and are fairly close together. We stayed here in the summer, and nearly all the sites were full. That being said, it was still relatively clean. There is a beach in the park, and it was very nice, with showers and restrooms close by. The only real issue, was that the park sits at the southeastern end of Myrtle Beach Intl. Airport, and the usual traffic pattern has the jets landing right over your head. The planes start at about 6:00 am, and continue through 10:30-11:00 pm. There are very few sites with sewer hookups, but they have a dump station. We were here for 3 nights, and enjoyed our stay. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was one of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed in. The sites are very shady. Most sites were large and roomy. They are a few sites that are kind of small. We stayed in the back in site 316 and loved it. When we come again we will stay in the back again. Access to the ocean is easy. There are lifeguards there each day. They have a nature center and activities for children on most days. Bathrooms were great for a state park. There are only a few sites with sewage access and they are towards the front. Also you can only get Wi-Fi if you are at the store or in a site near it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a grocery store right across from the entrance which is very convenient. We brought our bikes and it is a great place to ride around. We enjoyed our stay and will camp here again next summer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

When we book a huge, beachfront campground we generally know to expect crowds, smaller sites and few trees. This campground exceeded our expectations in all areas. Despite the enormity of the park, the staff we encountered were pleasant and friendly. The ocean sites, while not large, were comfortable. The lake sites were larger and had wonderful tree cover for those who don't mind the slightly longer walk to the beach. The permanent shelters at each site were especially appreciated, as the winds are often too strong for awnings. Baths appeared recently updated and were particularly clean. Our four children (ages 3 to 8) enjoyed the many activities and games. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were assigned a site in the shaded area off the beach and were initially disappointed. After viewing the oceanfront sites with no shade and close together, we loved where we were camped. They had parking along the beach so it was just a short car ride to the beach with the chairs and cooler. The park was very clean and had plenty for people of all ages to do. We will be back, shaded area for us please. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We just stayed here in our 30 ft 5th wheel. I have stayed at this campground a number of times in the past (4 or 5,) and have always loved it, but this time I enjoyed it far less. There were 2 reasons for decrease in enjoyment. First, the place was incredibly crowded. We saw sites that had 10 to 15 people in one site! In addition, they were packed with multiple cars and golf carts, and bikes, and tents, and etc, etc. I felt more like I was in some refugee camp, than a beautiful campground. Second, while I have never loved the golf carts before, now they are just plain dangerous. The main reason is the YOUNG teenagers driving them. I know it is the responsibility of their parents to not allow this, but it is also Ocean Lakes responsibility to step in and kick these people out if they are so irresponsible. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Ocean Lakes has a wonderful facility in a great location. On paper it should be a great place to camp, unfortunately it has grown to the point where it is over crowded and unpleasant to stay there. Sites have all the things you would expect but when problems occur like poor power quality, service is terrible, hundreds of golf carts appear to be operated by midget stunt drivers, rules go unenforced. There are fireworks continuous from 9pm until midnight. Theft of items from campsites appeared to be common and security invisible. With about 20% less campers and security enforcing their rules this would be an incredible place to stay!!!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Awesome park! Were very impressed. Lots are a bit tight but you manage. We were in walking distance to the ocean, could see the water from our motorhome. You have to have your own, or rent a golf cart to get around for sure. The evening hours were a nightmare. I think everyone were on carts at one time, very rude drivers, young and old. When walking the dog you had to be careful you didn't get hit. It was very noisy during 9:00 - 11:00 pm. If you needed to drive your car between these hours, you were not getting around in the park, too many golf carts. There is lots to do in Myrtle Beach, outside the park! Park has very clean facilities, everything you need is on the premises. Would be a great place for families with licensed children that just want to run with the pack on carts. For a quiet vacation, I would not recommend this place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I feel bad about giving this campground this low of a rating. I had to base this on my experience however and my experience make me not want to go back at all. I can see why many people love this campground. Beautiful pool and lazy river, clean bath houses, access to beach right there. We had a lovely large site with a pavilion and several trees. I was in heaven when we pulled up and loved everything I saw! This was our first time at Myrtle Beach and this campground so we set up camp and took a look around. We were totally unaware of what repeat visitors know. This campground is crawling with swarms of ants. We looked around for about an hour after we got there. When we came back the whole camper, inside and out, was covered in ants. It only took one hour for this to happen. Our camper was not dirty and we are not dirty people! Ants were in my food, clothes, my daughters laptop, the electric sockets, you name it ants were in it. We sent my son to the store for Raid and spent the whole rest of the week killing ants. They crawled on me when I slept, were in my toothpaste, on my dishes, walls, cabinets, just everywhere. By the end of the week I was miserable. Just when you thought they were gone, there were more. I traveled 700 miles home and are now fighting the millions, yes literally millions, of ants that are swarming out of my camper and invading my home now. I am afraid I will now have to pay for an exterminator. The day we left there was a roach the size of a small child in the sand under my camper. We had seen them earlier in the week at the campgrounds restaurant but had no idea they were that far from the food and close to the beach. If I were to judge this campground by activities, staff, and beauty alone I would have given it at least an 8. If you go to this campground do what repeat visitors told me you have to do. Use ant granules on the ground before you even pull into your site. Spray the whole outside of your camper and anything that touches the ground with a healthy dose of Raid every day. Since we did not do that before we even pulled into our spot the trip was doomed from the moment we arrived. We did not know. Been camping in many places and states and have never had a problem at all. Like I said before though, waking up to ants on me every night, killing them every day off of everything, and having to spray Raid in my camper made me never want to return. I do not know if it is just Pirateland, Myrtle Beach, or the south in general, but I have never in my life , or my husband's and he had tent camped since he was 9, have either of us seen or experienced anything like it! Never again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The only good thing that I can say about this place is that the beach is beautiful. We had a beachfront site which truly was directly across the street from the beach. If you are not beachfront or in the beach area, it is a bit of a hike to the beach which could be bothersome since there are no public restrooms located on the beach. The public restrooms in the park were FILTHY, no soap in any of them, horribly smelly! The permanent/seasonal sites were a mixture of decades old trailers and some newer models which gave it a somewhat shabby trailer park appearance. The pool area/lazy river were nice but the pool water appeared a little murky for my taste. The sites were good sized for the beach but are not raked up or groomed in any way in between visitors making them somewhat dirty. We had to clean our site personally before allowing our dog out due to chicken bones, beer caps, etc. being left there. However the biggest problem was the nightly golf cart "cruise" up and down the beach front past our site. This went on until 11PM each night with unruly drivers, LOUD music, air horns, screaming, etc. We have camped in many campgrounds and NEVER been witness to such an annoying spectacle. Unless you too were getting drunk and rowdy, it was hardly entertaining. The nightly scene had my poor dog cowering under the table all night long. Sitting outside and relaxing was not an option! When I spoke to management I was treated like a fool for complaining about this and was told "you're the only one complaining". I understand that this is considered fun in that region but feel that it should be controlled and/or limited. Management looked at me like I had 2 heads when I suggested that. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our 4th year staying at Priateland and we still love it. This was the first year that we had major rain storms and we learned that the sites we have been using for years flood with lots of rain. Many of the sites around 135 were completely under water and Murrells Inlet Road near those sites was a flowing stream. This was after 3 major storms that dumped lots of water and ate lots of awnings over 4 days. Also the sites around 1418 had the water lapping at the campers with the high lake. We drove around after each storm and found these two areas to be the most affected by the heavy rain. Every one had water issues, these were just the worst. The water drained back after a few hours but left lots of mud that really never dried even with high heat. One year with rain out of 4, is not bad. Did not hold this against the campground as they have no control over mother nature. As normal, there were golf carts everywhere which is part of the fun. The security patrol was visual and actively enforcing the rules. I witnessed them take the keys to multiple golf carts because the drivers were under age and driving recklessly. Camp store has almost everything you need and the grill has great ice cream and food and pizza. The indoor pool was cooler in temperature then the outdoor pool, which was as warm as bath water as was the lazy water. The miniature golf course wasn’t bad. There are basketball courts but I did not use them. The beach was very clean. For being a beach resort, the bath houses near me were very clean and well stocked. The only bad thing I have to say about the campground is the internet is almost worthless. Do not waste your money. Too many people using the same access. The network was way overloaded. This was sold by a third party. The staff was very friendly. I will be back next year in different sites though. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
