We actually did not stay in this park and I will explain why. I called for a reservation for our 41" motorhome. They informed us that they had one pull through site available and that they were holding it for us. We called again around 8 pm because we were running late and they said no problem just check in with the guard when you arrive. We arrived around 10pm and the guard gave us a map to the sight. However, he drew the route incorrectly which put us on the wrong street for the pull through. The streets were very narrow and we had to back down the street to go the right direction. We then headed to our spot however it was occupied! No pull through sites were open. We went back to the front and the guard said there were two back in sites still available that we could use instead however it turned out that those two spots were completely full of cars. There were no spots available to park. We ultimately left and spent the night in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot. The streets were very narrow and there were a lot of permanent trailers with crazy brickwork that jutted too close to the street. We would not attempt to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

My Best Campground is Apache Oceanfront Family Campground at Myrtle Beach. We had an ocean front campsite with full hookup. We also had a covered picnic table. The campground has the longest pier on the East Coast, also a Croakers Restaurant and a Game Room. The Employees of the campground were pleasant and helpful. We will definitely camp at this campground again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed our stay here. Definitely will go back. We loved parking our rig and looking out our kitchen window at the dunes and the ocean. Left the windows open and could listen to the waves crashing. This is a massive campground but well run. The pier is interesting and the location is convenient for several conventions we go to at the beach. Sites up front can be a little tight. Those who simply must have paved roads and very nicely finished sites will be disappointed! I will gladly trade those in for the views this CG has compared to the ones right up the road. Just an opinion. YMMV! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at Apache in the 1st week June of 2005. We thought that it was a fairly nice campground. We had a ocean front site really close to the bathhouse which was nice but the air conditioning was broke in the bathhouse and it was miserably hot. They repaired the air on the day that we left to go home. I will have to admit that there is not a lot to do in the campground especially if you have kids. They have a very small gameroom, and swimming pool. The pier was very nice with nightly entertainment but you had to pay each and every time that you went out on it. We were there for a week and the CG was fairly empty until about the last 2 days before we left then it began to fill up very fast. I think that the CG is geared for people without children. We are coming back this year but we are going to stay at Pirateland and give it a try. We would probably stay here again but it would not be our first choice. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

In our confirmation, we were advised that we would have to pay a $100 security deposit.
On arrival I refused, told them they already had our money and that was it ! We were given our site and upon arrival found it to be very cramped. If we put our awning out , our couch was in the street, If our coach was on our space, our awning could not be put out. We have a HUGE 26 ft TT. Some of the popups had one end in the fence/bushes at the rear and their tongues on the road. Staff could not care less if everything was ok or if there was a problem. We were given pier tickets but when trying to use them after supper, we were told we would have to pay $3 per person because they had music. We pointed out that had we wanted to, we could have listened to the music from the beach. Nasty, hot bath houses greeted us. The campground is outdated and in my opinion caters to full time residents. I will not ever camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has many unpaved roads. It is a good ole boy type of campground. The
permanent residents cannot do any wrong. Many permanent residents that do not need to follow any rules. The security is a joke (old men riding golf carts). Since the pier is within the campground, lots of strangers wandering around daily. Bathrooms and showers are old and in need of being updated and CLEANED! Stayed often enough know some things never change. We won't go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Use extreme caution in visiting. My experience was unusual that I asked to view campsites
before deciding and I asked for some sites that were empty (no reservations) and if I could set up our 30 foot travel trailer before returning to pay. I was assured that was fine. I found a acceptable site and started setting up when another RV'er pulled up saying I had his site. I told him my story and he found a security guard and told his story. Either way one of us was going to be unhappy. When he and security guard drove off, I assumed everything was OK and continued setting up. About 15 minutes later a "person" drove up and started berating me for being in a site rented to someone else. I asked her name and she said Susan "S-U-S-A-N". I saw right away I could not comunicate with this person so I relented and pulled up stakes and returned to office. I asked to speak to the young lady who told us it was OK to set up before retuning to pay and she denied she said it. I then asked for the supervisor or owner. After a few minutes I explained my situation, told them I cannot beleive I was talked to in such a manner and if a mistake was made, just say so and I could accept that. The supervisor was apologetic and offered a reduced rate if we would stay. We stayed and overall the park was OK, but I would probably stay at Myrtle Beach Travel Park on my next visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great family campground. Very quiet atmosphere with very friendly camper and staff. They have live entertainment nightly on the longest pier on the east coast. They are the only campground in Myrtle Beach area that accepts the Good Sam's discount. Very pleased with this area, have visted there for last 2 years. Will plan on camping there this summer also. Anyone would enjoy this campground. We camped here in a camper.

Our rate reflects Coast to Coast membership. This is a very large, gated campground. It has a connecting gate to Barefoot Landing, which has shops and restaurants. You can walk or bike to them without going back on the main road. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice campground is is in the Coast to Coast network. The front sites seemed a little rough (very little grass) but the back part of the campground is lovely and back up to the waterway. Great location -- there is a walkway that leads to Barefoot Landing, and many of the shows are nearby. We did not see many children during our stay and it seems have a more mature clientele. The permanent park models are very well maintained and there seemed to be quite a few long-term campers there as well, which made for a nice sense of community. This would not be my first choice when traveling with children, but adults will enjoy all this quiet park has to offer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Rate reflects PPA rate. Very nice park...only two minor negative comments...there are no pull through sites...everything is back-in and no wi-fi, but we have a Verizon card, so not big deal. Park is well maintained and has a large pool and nice club house. Gated entrance. Friendly staff, and we found many of the campers extremely friendly. I would not hesitate to strongly recommend this facility. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Also a Coast to Coast Park. Rate reflects Passport America for six nights. We originally planned to stay three nights, but we enjoyed this area and park so much we stayed six. Sites were comfortably large, nicely paved roads and full concrete slabs. A great park for riding bikes or walking. A lot of very nice, well maintained park models. Some were full time residents. The restrooms were very clean, as well as the laundry room. Huge, beautiful pool and very nice club house. Great location, right next to Barefoot Landing. Would recommend this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were here using our Coast to Coast membership. Our site was fine, a nice level cement pad and patio area. The campground was neat and picked up, they were raking leaves while we were there. The office staff was helpful and suggested things to do and places to go. The area is very busy with lots of traffic. Many things to do and see. This campground is not on the water - the beach is about 1 mile away. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As stated by other reviews, this a very nice campground. We stayed as C2C, but they also accept Passport America. All utilities are good, free cable, WIFI good but you have to go to the club house for it. Sites are back-ins with concrete pads and fairly level with Live Oak trees everywhere, lots of leaves everywhere too.We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for two months and it was tremendous. Of course, fine weather is a plus, but the park really has no deficiencies.The sites are all cement pads, level, mostly shade, good spacing, paved roads and a very friendly management team. Our neighbors were also great and enjoyed the games we played with them. The pool was closed at this time of year and kid activities are limited because most are in school! A great place and we shall return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I would rate this campground a 10 if they had Wi-Fi available at each campsite and would supply a doggie waste station. With these 2 exceptions, this is a wonderful, quiet, convenient, clean, friendly place to stay while in Myrtle Beach! They accept several discount clubs which makes this an affordable and pleasurable place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park through Coast to Coast, and liked it so much we decided to spend the winter months there. It was extremely well run, office staff was very friendly and efficient. The park grounds were really nice and clean. Park Model homes had beautiful landscaping. It is convenient to shopping, eating, theatres, etc. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised to find nice paved sites with plenty of shade. The majority of sites were fairly large. We did see a couple of very small sites. More than half of the guests were in motorhomes. Many of the guests were over 60, but that meant there weren't many kids. Everyone was nice and friendly. Bathrooms and laundry rooms looked clean and up to date. The pool is huge. We were able to go everyday and relax almost alone. This wouldn't be the place for a family with teens to visit because there isn't much on site for them. It is a quick walk to Fuddruckers, and there is a walkway to Barefoot Landing (large enough for a golf cart). We definitely enjoyed the quiet and will definitely be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice older park. Was an extremely nice private member park in the late seventies. This is a nursing home style park. Biggest complaint is the water volume; pressure OK 50psi, but volume is very low through out park. Staff was friendly. Passport honored during the weekdays. Nice large rec. room and large swimming pool. Lots of permanent, but nice units. Not on the beach which was fine by us. Close to Barefoot landing. Eat at Little Pigs for a great pork sandwich....all other stuff there standard. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is Coast to Coast plus tax & utility surcharge. Park is about 1/3 park models, and is very well kept. As stated, all sites are paved and level. Most are tree shaded, so if satellite is important, ask for a clear site. Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff. There are a few RV sites that back up to the intercoastal waterway, but most don't. Lots of activities, residents all friendly, plenty of birds and squirrels to enjoy (or annoy, depending). We'd give it a 10 except for the $10 fee for washing a rig or car. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground resort to visit. Host at check in was very helpful. All sites are on cement pad and dead level. Roads are asphalt. Good space on most sites from side to side. Park now has free WiFi, good in club house only, ask for the password at office. Water and power were good and all sites have 30 & 50 amps. No camp fires here. Large play ground equipment for the kids. Next door to Barefoot Landing, you can walk over in short time. Rates were on Passport. Park was very close to full, about 60% were large class A's, then large 5th wheel units, rest were smaller units. People in park were nice to talk with. Large club house and pool were great, down by the inlet waters. Sites next to Hwy 17 will have some road noise and sites in back of park are very quite. We will return here on future trips. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When I tried to find a site in Myrtle Beach all of the campgrounds were full except Briarcliff, now I know why. The facility was very old and worn down and when my wife came back from the Rec. Hall, She said it felt like a nursing home. Additionally, my kids wouldn't walk anywhere because of all the ants. The Staff was very unfriendly and did not make us feel welcome. My credit cards were stolen a week before we left so the card I used for the deposit was canceled and I had to change cards. The woman who checked me in said 3 times "So the card you used for the reservation was no good?" acting like I was trying to pull something. On check-out day, we pulled out and I stopped in the office at which point they charged me for an extra night because it was past 12:00. The park was 3/4's empty! I didn't know what time check out was and we were past the 12:00 deadline, but I have NEVER been charged for that in any other campground- particularly when it was close to empty! They also charged my credit card $10 because I didn't turn in a key card after I got in a fight with them over the extra night. They got an extra $57 out of me, but now I know why the park has space when every one else is booked solid. The reputation they have on the RV boards is awful and now I know why, we certainly will never stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We don't "worship" Briarcliffe, nor are we "enthralled" with it. However, we find it clean, welcoming and accommodating--and cheap in comparison to others in the area. Owners of spaces here will rent to individuals for a very good price off-season for a month at a time, which is excellent if one is a full-timer. (The price I've listed was out Coast-to-Coast price.) I'm sorry the poster below had a hard time and was unhappy, but having grown up in South Florida, I find it humorous that children would refuse to walk where there are ants. Perhaps a less argumentative attitude with staff who are, essentially, volunteers, would go a long way toward making his or her life more pleasant. We found Briarcliffe very pleasant. We will be looking forward to returning under Coast to Coast as well as under rental terms with individual owners. By the way, the staff allowed us to move around to accommodate our need to use an internet satellite dish without question--and with a return smile, something places we've paid a lot more have grumbled about. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It has a worn look; not enough monies going back into maintaining the infrastructure i.e. roads,sites,clubhouse,etc. The large number of park homes detracts from parks inherent treed campground ambiance. It's location is certainly very good. I was not impressed by the front desk person; rather solemn and certainly not one to lighten your day. Lack of wireless Internet was a negative as well. It's on my OK list if visiting area but not one to rave about and/or look forward to being there. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great campground. Road noise is probably a problem for units right next to the road, otherwise this would be a 10. All back-ins, but very easy to get into. Nice wide sites, didn't feel like the neighbors were in our laps. Friendly office staff, easy check in. This is a C2C campgrounds. We will definitely be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is defiantly an adult park, very quiet, there is a small play area for the kids but we didnt see any. The bathhouses and laundrys were spotless as was the rest of the park. The best part for us was that its right next to the Barefoot Landing Complex, (shops, stores, restaurants, and clubs) a great place for a morning walk, lunch and dinner or nightly entertainment at one of the clubs. There is a path next to site #116 to the complex. When in the area again this is where we will stay. (Five years of full timing) We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed two nights and enjoyed the park and the town. Sites are all back-ins. They ware average sized--big enough for most rigs. Everything was clean and seemed to be in good repair. We stayed in the rear of the park, and this is much quieter than the front, due to the road noise from hwy US17. Next door to Barefoot Landing, with shopping, resturants, and shows--there is even a back gate to walk there. Small playground area for kids, but I feel this park is more suited to adults. Our rate was the Passport America rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice place to spent some time. All sites are cement and level. Roads are blacktop and free of pot holes. Staff was very nice at check in. Park is back on passport system. Lots of very nice rigs use this park. Park is close to sea but no sand in park to track in, all grass. No problem with kids running around in golf carts. Cable TV lineup was great. Next door to Barefoot Landing with lots of fun things to do and great places to eat. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice park; friendly staff. Walk to resturants and shopping. Rear of park is for permanent campers/cabins, but is located on ICW. This is an older park, but in good repair. Concrete pads and paved roads. All sites back in only. Only negative is its location next to a very busy hiway, with loud traffic 24/7. The center of the park is less noisy, but harder to get a site there. Our experience was enjoyable and we will return, but will not stay close to the road again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Fantastic place. Don't bring your kids here though. This is an adult oriented place. It was wonderful not having kids zooming around in golf carts and such. The private gate to Barefoot Landing is locked at 5pm which was a downer. Right next door to a Fudruckers and the Palmetto Grill which were both good. Very quiet, pleasant and relaxing. Staff was great too. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an awesome RV Resort, very quiet, and although children are welcome I felt it was
a perfect adult park. The resort is member owned therefore there are alot of "private sites" in the park and park models available for rental. Convienient and clean. Will come back again no doubt!! The waterfront listing is for a few directly on the intercoastal waterway We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is very nice, streets and sites are paved. Park has a lot to do for everyone. Intracoastal waterway next to park. I think anyone would be happy here. Ocean is about two blocks away. Large number of cable TV channels. Some noise off Hwy. 17 and airport to North. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park has a good location. The customer service is lacking, I had to make multiple calls for sewage smell at my campsite. (Neighbor didn't use sealing device for sewage line). Problem was never resolved, though someone did finally come out. Sites are small and not level. Park is large, requiring much walking, or a golf cart Golf carts can only be rented from park's vendor at an inflated rate. Indoor pool is advertised, but closed for remodling. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We picked Lakewood Camping Resort after my wife saw on their web page the new Family Value Fun Pass that they advertised. We didn't have to pay for each amenity like the hippo slide, putt putt golf, bicycle rentals, boat rentals or water wars, we just paid $10 a day for all on our campsite to use these facilities. We could slide down the slide with our kids and they all enjoyed that. Thank you Lakewood for providing such a hugh savings for families like mine in this down turned economy we are in. The park looked great and was well kept with lots to do for the whole family. We had an oceanfront site just steps from most of the activities. Our motor home was easily driven through the campgrond. Last night they had a Welcome Party on the beach with live music, free Pepsi, pop corn and cotton candy. We are so excited about finding this wonderful family oriented camping facility. We will be back to Lakewood on our next trip to Myrtle Beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first visit to Myrtle Beach and we choose this campground because it's website listed many amenities that we be appealing to our children and it listed itself as 'christian'. We were very disappointed in the fact that the campground amenities were not even open, even though their website did not list their amenities as 'seasonal', giving us the impression that everything would be up and running. We assumed that outdoor pools and water slides would not be opened due to the cooler weather, but we did not expect that nothing but the one indoor pool would be open. The staff at the park were very unfriendly and mostly rude. The sites are small. The 'free' TV is a half dozen channels at best, although their information lists about 50 available channels. We just felt that they had misled us in their advertising and then treated us like trash. Our next trip to Myrtle Beach will not include this campground, there are much better choices. I think a Wal-Mark parking lot would be more peaceful. We stayed there for the first time with a motor home group. It was our first and last visit to Myrtle Beach area which both park and area reminded me of a 50's cheap carnival arcade. This is a very uncomfortable park with small sites, poor upkeep and noise. If you really want paradise, skip this and go 4 hours south to Hilton Head Island. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Have stayed on and off at this park for over 40 years even as a child, this is the first time I have ever stayed that I had wished I had stayed somewhere else, a motorhome convention was going on and the power was surged a lot, and things just did not seem to get fixed or handled as they had in the past. Too many motorhomes, being washed by private company's lots of noise and the reservations were set up wrong and the place they moved us was just not good. We stayed at this campground last year and were satisfied. What a difference a year made. The sites close to the beach are sandy and unshaded, but that is what you expect at the beach. Last year we arrived with no reservation and were treated like royalty; this year we were treated pleasantly when we made the reservation, and chopped liver when we arrived. What was unacceptable this year was the cleanliness of sites: lots of trash, the water pressure: very low, the Wi-Fi: very slow and their failure to enforce their own rules during the fall Harley Davidson rally. They do not allow motorcycles at times other than the bike rallies. Their rules: ride at idle while in the park; drive to and from campsites only. Great if they were enforced. But bikers revved their bikes for extended periods on the sites, drove at high speeds in the park and cruised up and down the interior roads. And watch out for the campers that return each year and take over vacant sites for their loud and early morning/late night parties. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our second year at Lakewood. I thought the CG was in need of some maintenance - general clean-up around the sites. There weren't very many occupied sites during the week we were there, so it would have been the opportune time to do this. Very disappointed at the lack of wi-fi for the whole campground. The "free" wi-fi is deceiving. You have to buy something at the coffee shop and then you get an hours worth of free wi-fi. For the size of the CG and the price for a week, wi-fi should be free. Staff needs to clean up the CG or it will loose a customer. Do like to be close to the ocean, like we were. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Overall I was wonderfully surprised. The staff were great to work with. Plenty of entertainment from the daily activities for the kids to the nightly entertainment. Check out the Hula Show during the summer. Site was good, would be better if paved, but proximity to water was fantastic. Trading post was a little pricey, but overall a great selection. Only one negative issue, I inquired about bringing my own handicap golf cart and was told that it would have to be inspected by their staff ( I agree with that) However I was told that I would still have to pay $ 30.00 per day in order to use it in their park. This was our first full week camping; we have stayed at Myrtle Beach many times but not camping. This campground is very family friendly, even though I don't have small children our friends did and they had a great time with the activity there. They give you a newsletter of all activities for the week which was very good. There were lots of golf carts riding around and if I wasn't in an Ocean front site I would have gotten one too. We didn't have any trouble with the carts but there were a lot of kids driving them that where under age by the CG rules. Bathrooms very clean but were old. We had a great time and would go back. We were put in a site by the gate. The first sight we were put on had a tree in the way and we couldn't set up our motorhome properly so we had to go and request a different sight. Then we were given a sight that was ontop of a ant colony and half a mile from the beach, pool, arcade, everything there at the campground. The prices of things to eat and to do were completely outrageous. The golf carts were $50 a day/$300 a week. The staff were absolutely rude and seemed to hate their jobs. The bath house's were along the same lines. The toilets were full of unflushed junk...floors were filthy, the showers didn't have doors, or anywhere to put your things. The floors of the showers, if they were crawling with ants had clumps of sand in them and all around. There were motorcycles and out of control teens on golf carts, that would almost run you over. The outdoor pool staff were the rudest of all, smart mouths and acted as you owed them something. When we got to the outdoor pool and got set up in chairs we were asked to move several times because the lifeguards were late doing their cleaning duties and were trying to catch up at about 10:00 am, which I found very uncalled for. Everything cost something, and not just a few dollars. A good example it was $4.50 for a chicken sandwich, $2.50 for a corn dog (that was burnt by the way). I wouldn't every go back to this place and would never recommend it to anyone. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Upon arrival we were able to check-in early and found our spot a little tight due to two trees in the site. We asked to move and were moved to a site with the same problem but were able to get set up and go. Campground is nice all around but we had the usual problems with the underage golf cart drivers and unattended children. Our neighbors also found out about the attack squirels that like to chew thru propane lines and power cords. With all this being said we'd return, but I think I'll stick with Ocean Lakes if I can actually get a spot. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were very fortunate to get an oceanfront site because we were a "fit" for a vacancy within a time frame (4 days). Although the sites are not paved, there was certainly enough room between sites to put out slides and awnings. You may, however, be backed up right next to someone. I would totally agree with the parents not watching bikes. Watch where you park your TV or you may end up having dents and scratches like mine does now. Also, many parents allow their unlicensed teens and pre-teens to drive carts. If you are oceanfront, be aware that the nights are cruising nights - all the golf carts stroll down the street en-masse. My teenagers liked the amenities and there was plenty to do. They do have security patrolling the area at night, so it quiets down quite a bit, but like every campground you can visit, the biggest issue is letting small children run amuck unsupervised. I would go here again, although I would try to get into Ocean Lakes or Pirateland first. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Campground was very nice, lots of activities for children. My only comment is the sometimes less than appropriate watchful eyes of parents letting small children ride bikes on the roads throughout the campground. We were very careful driving our car, never went over the speed limit. On one occasion 2 small children wrecked into each other, fell off their bikes when they realized our car was approaching very slowly; we even stopped when we saw the children coming. So, to parents; be careful-these are roads that carry cars, not a bike trail. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Lakewood Campground is where I grew up camping, and had to go back in our own camper as an adult. We spent one week in mid May 2008 and it was the most relaxing wonderful experience ever. Although we caught the tail end of the two bike weeks we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We will be back again. I have stayed at all three many times They are all terrific campgrounds with caring staffs. My personal preference is Ocean Lakes, Pirate land and Lakewood in that order. Nice park on the beach but it is so big you may be quite a walk to the beach. Most of the sites are a nice size with some grass. All the facilities are WORN OUT the bathrooms, pool etc which is a rip off because the prices are very high even off season. The owners must be piling up the money in their own bank accounts cause they aren't spending any money on the park any more. I don't like to spend $55 a night to "camp" but when the place is really less than average it is really awful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park has a lot of facilities and stores. We were here during spring break and a lot of families with kids. If you have a long rig parking can be a problem, you may have to move some neighbors cars to get into your site. All sites are dirt and not all level. Very close together. Our first trip to Lakewood was a very pleasant experience. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The park is dated and could use some improvements. The bath houses are not air conditioned, the trash pick up was not regular, and no shower/spigots at the beach entrances, the grass needed mowing in some areas. The interior roads were wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass. We rode our bikes daily and did not witness the roving hordes of reckless teens on golf carts. Actually I found the golf cart traffic at a minimum, unlike some of the other posters. The pool was very nice and had 2 lifeguards on duty. This was a comfortable place to stay and we would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The people that work there were nice. The site was ok. But the bathrooms needed to be cleaned more often and updated. Too many golf carts. The place is nice and the children loved it. I didn't have to worry about the children too much when they were at the pool or game room. This place is too big for me. People were not so friendly, that were camping. Once you are in the camp site you really don't have to leave this place. It has everything you will need. I can't say that I will not be back, but it will be a while it takes money to stay here $$. Absolutely love this place. The golf cart parade every night is very entertaining. We had an Ocean front site & it was great. Nice store, nice beach, nice playground. I cant say enough good things about this place. There was an incident across from our site. Someone neglected to disclose to the reservation people they were bringing 2 very large rottweilers along, After they attacked a very small dog that was on a leash next door, it became very noticable to all that they were there. (Rules state large aggressive breeds are not allowed in this campground & it gives a list of breeds not allowed on your confirmation letter). I was very happy to see that they do enforce their rules & they gave the people the option to get rid of the dogs (take them elsewhere)or leave in the morning, they left. We cant wait to return to this campground. Next time I will spend extra for a golfcart to ride around in, in the evenings. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

If you like crowded tight sites, underage kids careening around in golf carts then this place is for you. We found it difficult to ride our bikes on the roads due to the amount of traffic. Would only ride in the early morning. Some like this type of place with the hustle and bustle. narrow roads, trees and parked vehicles make it difficult to back in. We went based on a recommendation from a relative. As is every place you go in a beach town everything you do takes $$. Sewer connections were oddly placed at mid site. Neighbors connection was right next to our table. Due to small size and shape of site we could not relocate the table. My sewer connection was broken and it was never repaired. With a doughnut I was able to use it. Rules are selectively enforced. The only true waterfront sites are around the lake. Our site was dirty upon arrival and we noticed as others left some of them also left trash behind. Never saw anyone check empty sites other than picking up the bag of trash at the road and making sure the site was empty. It is not for us. Would not stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This RV park was the worst I have ever stayed in and I cannot recommend it under any circumstances. Here is a brief listing of my encounter. When I went into reception the list of people with complaints trailed into a long line. I too would find myself in this position. I reserved and paid for a dark pink site, but when I arrived they placed me in an orange site, which is further back from the beach. Carolyn in the reception area was very rude when this was pointed out. She stated that the site had been “converted” to a dark pink site (however all of the park maps and the Internet still show it as an orange site) and would not refund the difference of the orange-site price. The site was not ready when we arrived and was covered with junk-- a dirty picnic table, and an old, wet, dirty, oriental rug,. It was also being used for a bike parking lot, which we had to move before we could pull in our RV. The Internet service did not work in the site, perhaps this is because it was not truly converted to a premium site, Internet only works in Blocks 1,2 and Oceanfront. The cable television did not work and although maintenance was called it was never repaired. On more than one occasion the bathroom toilets backed up, onto the floor and into the showers—sewage smelled outside of the bathhouse. My father refused to go back into the bathhouse at all and showered in our RV the rest of the trip (as did our whole family). People were shooting fireworks in the RV next to us into late hours of the night. The only time we went to the extremely small indoor pool it was adult swim only. The sites were very tight, our awning could barely open without touching the permanent trailer next to us. We had to back in narrowly between trees. We made the best of our trip in spite of this park, but truthfully the best times were had when we were off the property. It was a crowded, disgusting mess. The golf carts are the least of their problems. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Lakewood the week of June 16th in site 5414 which is in Block 1 South. My wife & I sat down after the trip to rate this campground, and our rating was between a 6 & 7 on a scale of 1-10. Positives....lots to do, especially if you have kids (we don't), relatively clean bathhouses (considering the sheer numbers of people), a nice beach that is within easy walking distance from most of the campground, and a convenience location. Negatives......sheer number of golf carts, lack of traffic signs at intersections, and park management's failure to enforce their published rules. We'll be back here the end of July for another visit, but in the future we'll only use this park for pre-Memorial Day and post-Labor Day visits. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Almost all sites are back-ins, but there are a few pull throughs on the main road as last year I had one. This year, I was in block 1 North, and although it was far away from everything, it was quieter. It was in full sun as well. The back in sites are backed in to other campers. One set faces the ocean and the other is opposite. Either is fine because you can't see the ocean anyway, but if you face the ocean the sun is under the awning in the morning or evening the other way. The sites are close, but everyone is having a good time and so much activity is going on that you don't care. You can definitely put your awning out and still have some room to spare. The roads are only narrow in the back blocks. Stay in block 1 or 2 for wider roads, which are almost wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass. Rent a golf cart to get around. It is expensive ($48 for 24 hours), but it is so much fun. After you do it, you'll think it is worth it at least for a couple of days or so. The only sites that can see the ocean are Block 1 and part of Block 2 ocean front sites. The dunes there are lower, so you can even see the ocean as you drive down the strip. I didn't step one foot inside the bathhouses, so can't comment there. I did notice over on the south side it appeared there were bathhouses that had individual showers, etc. as people were waiting to use them. This might be nice for privacy, etc. WiFi is $10/day or $20 for 7 days or $30 for a month. Free cable TV, which worked great, but hardly used as we were out doing tons of stuff. I did a quick walk over to Pirateland and Ocean Lakes. Pirateland is not for me as it is too cramped. Ocean Lakes is almost similar to Lakewood in layout, just smaller. The golf carts at Ocean Lakes were about 50% more. I think because OL lets you bring your own, so this adds to the number. Plus OL is smaller in size. Overall we had an excellent time with excellent weather. Sunshine all week. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Lakewood has dealt with the most serious fault I have had with them in the past--fireworks on the beach. In past years, weekend nights especially started to sound like a bombardment, and everyone from the park security to the town police was passing the buck. Apparently enough of us paying guests complained, and people are banned from shooting fireworks, at least on Lakewood's beach. Saw a few rockets from the park to the south, but nothing like before. The place still has an onerous set of rules, but they are enforced selectively enough that you can ignore them, at least in the off-season. Since our last stay at Lakewood two years ago, they have added Wi-Fi, and best of all it is accessible from the sites nearest the beach. The service is NOT free, however. It's $9.95 for a single day, $19.95 a week and $29.95 a month. A park that charges as much as Lakewood ought to offer the Wi-Fi with no extra charge. After all, they don't charge extra to save your immortal soul with their endless chain of Bible studies and worship services. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I did not like this site due to the non pull through sites, it's just the convenience of it. The bathrooms were hot with no a/c . I did not like having to wait till the office opens up to check in. At Ocean Lakes, they have express check in and that means if you say you'll be arriving at 6am that morning, you just drive on into you're empty reserved site. I also did not like the fact that the gates are locked at midnight. If I want to stay out until 2 or 3 in the morning, and then return to my site, I should be able to. Half the stuff they had there was shut down for maintenance while I was there. Their camp store left a lot to be desired, out of a lot of stuff. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed 1 week. Since we were off season, campground was not full, which is good as some campers had the tv on pretty loud and pretty late. No one came around to enforce quiet time. Campground is overrun by squirrels. They are everywhere. Close to the beach, which is nice. The pool is great. Close to everything. Restrooms were adequate. Would try another campground on next visit to see if worthwhile, but would not mind coming back, again off season. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice clean place. Staff helpful..except the young girl at the check in desk. Unfriendly and acts like you are interrupting her. Ocean front site are SMALL your neighbors sewer hook up will be 10 feet from your front door. Can't blame them for trying to get the most for their money. Ocean sites are far from level as this place shows wear and tear bring plenty of boards to level out very soft sand. Would go back again beach was clean. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Over all experience was pleasant, however I do have one MAJOR complaint. For advertising themselves as a Christian campground these people are certainly on the route to all that is evil, as they are money hungry. While spending time at the campground my wife and I, along with friends took in some water activities in Myrtle Beach and while riding a banana boat being pulled by a jetski my wife was injured and required immediate medical attention. After taking her to the Emergency Room, they couldn't confirm what the injury was but my wife was in extreme pain so we decided to pack up and head out and leave our friends behind to enjoy the rest of their trip. Straight from the emergency room back to hookup and pull out. I didn't stop to check out. I just wanted to get the wife back home and to one of our doctors because she was in so much pain. Long and short of it after getting home we found out she had broken her leg in the joint and needs surgery. I called our friends that stayed at the campground and asked them to go to the Camp office and check me out and see if the managment might refund (credit back to my credit card) the two days I had left early. Our friends were told absolutely not, that I was the only one that could check out and since I wasn't there to do so that I would be charged until the last day of my stay, and no refund would be given. My friends called and told me this so I called and was told that If I would like a refund that I would have to check out in person. Being that I am back in Maryland I don't think that is going to happen so I don't suppose I will be getting any refund for the two days that I didn't use their facilities. None the less and to show the greed for money, the campground tried to re-rent the space on one of the days before my original checkout. Luckily my friend was at his site next to mine and told the people attempting to claim the space that they needed to go back to the office and let them know that the space was occupied. Of course it really wasn't because I had left but If I am going to be charged for it and not be refunded my money, they certainly are NOT going to rent it out again until after my original checkout date. So moral of the story: if you think these supposed Christian folks are going to give you any kind of Christian break if you have a medical emergency and have to leave in a hurry, do not count on it. Not only will you not get any refund, but they will try to rent out the campsite to someone else and charge you for it too. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was a nice park. Interior roads were good, but you couldn't hardly ride your bicycles without about getting run over by golfcarts driven by kids that weren't suppose to be driving them. The park didn't seem to enforce their very own rules. This is a huge park, very, very crowded. We were ever so lucky though to get a site that was backed up to a fence and we even had shade trees. It seemed that the rental trailers had trees but most of the other side of the park burnt up. Very nice playground, but there were so many children that the playground really wasn't large enough for 1900 sites. Our site was really hard to get backed into, there were trees in the middle of the road and one on the front side of our site, so it took many tries to get into position. The garbage pickup was very nice and also being able to have cable. We had to go to the laundromat and it was very crowded and extremely hot. The gift shop and snack area was very nice, seemed to have everything that you needed. The scenery around the campground was great. They have nice little wooden bridges and ducks galore. Lots to look at and do. I was disappointed that we had to pay extra if we wanted to see a show that they performed at night, so we didn't go. Also inquired about getting a golf cart, but the rates were so darn high that it was just a waste of money. This is a nice campground for just once a year or so. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is huge - as in too big for us to enjoy. Most sites are just big enough for larger rigs to fit into snugly. The ocean front area is hot as hades (no shade at all) but there is some shade back from the ocean. The bathhouses are HOT and they are kept as clean as they can be kept with so many campers using them 24/7. The golf carts are very expensive (like they are almost everywhere) and too many kids drive them like they are drag racing!! It can really be dangerous if you have little ones and are camping near the ocean front. There is a Christian atmosphere here from the moment you see the sign at the entrance, always quoting scripture. Not a problem most of the time, but their strong enforcement of the alcohol policy is a bit too much. Every campground has rules about keeping your beverage on site, and no loud, abusive, drunken behavior, and I'm all for that. But this campground doesn't even let you have a cocktail 'exposed' while sitting in a chair under your awning! We were told we had to 'cover' our glasses or go inside. When we asked about this at the office we were told 'that is our policy and we enforce it strongly'. We complied, of course, but I really don't like drinking out of a plastic cup! I could understand if we were loud or doing something to be noticed, but we were really just sitting, talking to each other, not bothering anyone! The real problem with this campground is the size. It's just too big - like many of those in MB, particularly those on the ocean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a Christian-based campground. There are plenty of activities for each day of the week. The staff was very nice; however, we were misled about allowing dogs on the beach. MB is a public beach and you can have dogs on the beach before 9:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. (even during the summer). They do not allow aggressive dogs in the park, which was great. The only other drawbacks were the size of the sites and there were so many golf carts. The noise from the constant traffic of the golf carts took away from the peaceful experience of this trip. I doubt we will be back just based on the golf cart traffic alone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and I stayed here in April 2006. What a fantastic CG. Our site backed up to a pond. This park is huge, we had the opportunity to take a few long walks along the ocean. The CG has a lot of amenities. We would definitely stay here again the next time we go to Myrtle Beach. We rode through the other large family campgrounds that were close by, but they didn't compare to this one. They even had a AUCE Friday night fish fry on the beach. Great fish and nice touch. This is a very nice campground. It is small enough to be easy to get around without a golf cart but large enough to have nice amenities. I love the indoor pool that is located ocean front. It was nice to be able to sit on the deck while looking at the ocean. We also enjoyed the basketball court. Camped middle of the week for two nights on off season. Heated indoor pool is actually heated, hot tub is "hot". Good location and access to Myrtle beach attractions. I dare say, it would not be my first choice during the summer, I know I wouldn't enjoy it much but Spring comes early in SC. Had 8 campsites to myself with 2 bath houses within 100 feet of site. We stayed here about 4 days, check-in was easy and the staff friendly. The sites are at best okay. We were near the beach so the site were very sandy to the point where our rig was sinking in. Our biggest complaint is the sites are very narrow and close together. Basically they squeeze as many sites as they can onto the property. I suppose this would be great if one was camping with a group but, I have a problem with the next rigs sewer dump being right by our picnic table. Also, they rent golf carts to campers which many people seem to think are race cars. We had a couple of close calls between our truck and carts. I suspect the place is a zoo during high season. We'll find another place to stay if we're in the area again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our third trip to Myrtle Beach in the past 3 years and our third different campground. I'd rate Lakewood better than Ocean Lakes and on the same par as Pirateland. Check in was quick and they accommodated our request to get our group of three rigs together in adjoining spots. The spots are adequate width, but the roads are very narrow and required the guy across the street to move his truck so we could back in. The sites are very sandy and made quite a mess of things, even with a large area rug on the ground. We also thought it was odd not to have fire rings or designated fire pits. The resort has plenty to offer and all of the facilities were clean and in working order - except for the Marble Slab Ice Cream vendor, which was a disappointment as temps hit the upper 90s!! The beach was nice and clean, as were the pools. We were glad to see the management wasn't a bunch of rule-Nazis - no one seems to enforce the alcohol ban, everyone shoots off fireworks on the beach at night, and a few other rules are bent, but nothing too excessive. However, the youth on golf carts speeding up and down the beach front road were a bit out of control. I always wonder where the parents of these kids are and why the parks in MB allow this annoyance to continue. Overall though, a very nice campground and we'd camp here again. This is a very family oriented park. Our campsite was on Crater Lake, which is a small fishing lake inside the campground. There wasn't a lot of room between us and our neighbors but, they were nice so we didn't have any problems. The campground has lots of activities including swimming, fishing, canoeing, and mini-golf. We've stayed at Lakewood at least four times, all off season. I cringe at the thought of this place during the height of summer. The place is attractive enough, but their rules regarding dogs and alcohol are pretentious, whether or not they are enforced. Worst of all is their total hands-off policy regarding fireworks on the beach. I heard all kinds of excuses, and several conflicting reports about what government agency has authority over the beach. Meanwhile, people were setting off huge fireworks mortars out there, with no safety precautions whatever. All it would take would be one misdirected rocket to set an RV roof afire, and there would be a mass catastrophe in the making, especially when the park is full. I don't want to camp in what sounds like a war zone after dark, so we will probably avoid Myrtle Beach altogether, but especially this park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We had a corner lot, so it was easy for us to get in and out. However, some of the sites
did look a little tight and I was glad I didn't have to back in them. The indoor pool is nice but at night it is too dark, not near enough lights. The dim lighting combined with the fog coming of the water (it was very cool outside) made it hard to see. The hookups at the sites are not arranged very well. The back of our trailer was over someone else's water faucet and I had to back my trailer in at an angle to get our electric to reach. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. We were here in the off season and they still had everything open, which was nice. Some of the beach campgrounds close everything up during the fall and winter months. We would consider going back but would prefer one of the other area parks. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

After hearing so many raving reviews, we just knew it would be as good or better than
Ocean Lakes. We booked this trip in January. We made plans here because Ocean Lakes was full. Lakewood does not allow you to choose your site, and we had to pay everything up front. When we got to our site, my husband took one look and said, "We will never come here again!" Our site was a back in site beside a
bridge, ditch, and trees. Although he didn't have problems backing in, this shows the size and location of this site. We walked around the campsite (in the mud) and grimaced at the HUGE amount of trash on this site! This is the first time we have ever had to camp with our neighbor's sewage line 10 feet from our door! Our picnic table is right beside it! As soon as we began to set up, we noticed the water spigot did not have a handle to turn it on and off. We also did not have a picnic table when we arrived. I immediately called the office to let them know someone had left trash, broke the handle, and we had no table. Although I was transferred twice, I was told they would send the maintenance man over. A few minutes later, he arrived, an overworked stressed out guy. He said he was the only maintenance man after 4:30 and he would take care of it as soon as he could. He was a little rude, but we took it as stress. We went out to eat and when we returned, he had taken care of everything! Although there was nothing he could do about the mud or size of the campsite. We did drive around and see some larger sites, but most sites here are double sites with two campers sharing one site. Many sites do have trees, but I would rather have a tree or two and room than this many trees. If you have never been to a really nice large campground, you might be happy here. Unfortunately for us, we started with some of the larger, newer, and nicer campgrounds. It is hard to go back to a small site where you can hear everything that goes on beside you. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Just returned from a Dec trip to Lakewood CG in Myrtle Beach. We really liked the place.
Indoor pool was nice this time of year. They are a Good Sam park which we are members. Everything was good, bathrooms clean, sites well kept, trash pick-up included. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone going to Myrtle Beach. Nice Christian atmosphere. Church services performed on the property as well as free movies. We took our min pin and was welcome at all times. There is a list of unwelcomed dogs. Check before bringing large breed of dogs. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I have been camping at Lakewood for over 30 years and I think it is the best campground
at Myrtle Beach. The sites are large and well maintained. There are numerous activities for the children as well as for the entire family. Pets are
welcomed as long as they are not on the list of forbidden dogs. The facilities are always clean and in working order. The store is stocked with all
neccessities and the snack bars offer good food at reasonable prices. The staff is always friendly and ready to help and we have never had a problem that

This is a excellent campground. It's in South Myrtle Beach right between Ocean Lakes Campground and Pirateland Campground. We went the week before Easter. Not everything was in great shape as they were still working on things. It is a very family friendly and has events scheduled for each day. They have a small resturant(walk-up)by the arcade and the pool. Be careful about sites near the playground, they play basketball all night. We've also stayed at the campgrounds on both sides, this is comparable, better than Pirateland, IMHO. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I guess it depends on what you're after, but I'm not interested in returning. The facilities and staff were great. The problem was small sites and diesel engines, which roar constantly. Traffic of all kinds was so busy we couldn't let the kids ride their bikes without us to "protect" them as they rode. The park was too jammed and busy for us. Dalmatians, rotts, shepherds, dobes, akitas, chows and pit bulls are all banned here. Only two of these breeds are generally recognized as vicious and idiot owners are the problem. Bath houses are clean, but not A/C. Almost no pull throughs, and some are narrow. Paved streets good for bikes. Many conflicts among info on website, brochures, and reality. Don't stay away because of your big dogs or listed alcohol rules...they are not enforced. Would stay here again if the campground next door is full. Lot's of bikers riding the campground during bike week, but very nice people riding at an idle.

We have stayed at Lakewood about 5 times in the last three years. Not for pet lovers, they have changed their policy with out any warning to a unreal policy of a 35 lb weight limit on ALL PETS. We have choc and black labs at 65 lbs, pure sweet hearts. We were turned away after sending down a full deposit. It was Ok'd when I called and made reservations. We really liked staying there, location is geat, shopping nearby. But our pets are our family. Will not go there again. This was a bad way to rule out any aggressive dogs from entering their property. Not a well planned rule. Good luck. We camped here in a camper.

We like to stay in KOA parks since we have always had positive experiences. This park is the best park we have ever stayed in. The staff was very helpful and available. They checked us in at the gate, gave us our site and said to come back and register when we settled in. The sites were very ample in size and the park was very clean, well kept and lots of space to walk and 3 blocks to the beach. We hated to leave we enjoyed it so much.Great park!!! We again made this reservation online and asked for a site which can accomodate our Volvo Hauler and 5th wheel and again KOA came thru with our request, First they took me on the route on their golf cart to see if our truck and 5th wheel would fit (excellent courtesy move),trees are close to curves throughout the access roads, we were escorted and assisted in positioning into the site, Staff was very courteous and polite. If you come in from Rt 501 turn off on 3rd Ave because it is a Monster Right turn if you go to Kings street. We will return again in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is our third winter here at the KOA Myrtle Beach, but it will be our last. The back-in sites are wonderful, our fellow snow-birders are top-notch, the place is beautiful and ideal for walking, but there has been a change in this once delightful place. The uncaring staff is sometimes less than helpful and sometimes needlessly rude - whether through ability or intent. Do not be surprised if you walk into the office to see the manager's wife ripping a staffer apart in front of customers who must wait until she has made public mincemeat of the victim staffer before the customer can be waited on. Do not be surprised to see a homeless person ride into the park to take a shower on campus - because security is so minimal here in a neighborhood surrounded by trailer parks. If you really want to stay here and you have been told that all of the sites are full, call back and ask for someone else. If you want a 30amp site but are directed to a 50amp site that costs more, even though there are a lot of available 30amp sites, be aware that the campground appears to be having some financial difficulties, made worse by management's dishonesty. If you book one of the kamping lodges, that they tell you is equipped for cooking, be aware that "equipped" means that there is one frying pan, one sauce pan that you can get if you ask for one at the office, no lids, no mixing bowls, or other kitchen amenities that were there in years past. Many (but not all) of the people at the desk are dishonest or uncaring. Some are merely incompetent and lazy. Book your reservation on line if you want guaranteed rates. Then save your receipt. It is not unheard of to have to prove your guaranteed rate by showing your receipt/reservation. If ever I saw a management team intent on destroying the reputation of an otherwise beautiful and formerly delightful RV park, the current management team is doing that. How sad. The low nighly rate reflects a discount received by paying for three months in advance during the off-season. Two years ago, I would have given this place a 10 out of 10. This year, it is a solid 3 We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campground. Activities for children spaced out throughout the week. Good location. No fire pits but if you ask for one they will bring one to your site. We stayed in a full hook up back in site with sand, only problem was the small ants. We put Comet down on all areas that ants could crawl up and this solved the problem. Bath house was clean but they are dated. Internet access but must use Linkspot for a cost, you set it up. Great reception for internet. I would stay again but would like to be closer to North Myrtle beach, about a 30 minute drive. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We chose this park based on reviews, their location and rates. Although the park itself is fine, I wanted to point out a couple of things that I had not seen on prior posts. There are no firepits at campsites. We were told by the staff that we could have a fire if we had our own firepit. Unfortunately we don't carry one with us and were not told this prior to our arrival. To us, a fire is a major part of our camping experience. Second, the bathhouses were clean but they are dated and not nearly as nice as some of the newer bathhouses we have had at other KOA's. Third, we found the staff to be adequate at best. They didn't seem to want to go the extra mile even on simple requests like where is a good place to eat. Finally, our site (w/e backin) was sandy and when it rained it became very messy. Some sites in the full hookup section had stone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The first night they put us into a really strange site on dirt with electric hookup on the right of the unit, sewer on the left and water/CATV directly behind. In order to use all 4 hookups we had to back right up to a cabin, which fortunately wasn’t occupied. When we asked to move the next morning, they gave us our pick of the entire park and we ended up in a beautiful back-in site with a patio on coarse red gravel framed by trimmed logs. Terrific bath house, laundry and store. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A very nice campground. We have stayed here before and again were very satisfied. We stayed for a week during "spring break". Almost all the sites are shaded and are big,compared to the other campgrounds in Myrtle Beach. A putt-putt course is at the road leading to the campground. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly. The Campstore is well stocked. The only drawback for us was the lack of children's activitities. Of course, that also means there is no golf carts zooming all over either. We will camp here whenever we come to Myrtle Beach. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in one of their premium sights right on a Bay inlet. Very nice. We had our own
cement patio with a nice wood deck and table overlooking the small water way inlet. Rest of the sights seem spacious enough and are in the trees. We stayed when the park was a little slow. I'll bet not so quiet when the place is full. Great location to Visit the Myrtle Beach area. Not direct Beach front, but access is about three blocks away and you are off the beaten path. Go for the premium sites. Love the wireless - that is how I am imputing this. All parks should go to wireless internet connections. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A teriffic park. There are more than enough bathhouses for weekenders and they are
spotless! The flooring in the bathhouses allows them to stay clean between frequent cleanings. Remarkable! We have a large travel trailer pulled by a large pick up truck, and we had no trouble at all with the access roads or the size of the sites. The pool is nice and the store is well stocked. This is a great location, in the middle of everything, only 1/2 mile from the ocean. Seasonals are separate from 'transients', which is OK too. Very friendly and helpful staff. Once we arrived on Thanksgiving Day when the camp store was closed. An employee helped us pick out a site suitable for our needs, escorted us to the site, and checked on us later to make certain everything was all right. I am certain it is busy and crowded in the Spring and Summer. We have camped there in the 'off season' and find it very, very pleasant. IN the fall and winter they run specials where free nights camping are given. We have camped here 5 times in the past 4 years, and will return again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Friendly staff, good location. The biggest problem with the park are the incredibly narrow and poor access roads to the sites. Very tight! Also, they are less then discrimanating on who camps, bikers and rowdies which the other parks control or turn away have run of the park. We camped here in a camper.

This was our first time at this campground and we found it because of this website. The grounds were beautiful, our site was shaded nicely. The staff was very friendly, restrooms and showers were clean. In fact, the whole grounds were constantly being cleaned the entire time we were there. Beautiful park in maritime forest. Plenty of shade. Short walk to the beach. Excellent gift shop on pier. Easy to ride a bike, picnic on the beach, play sports in the open field. Bathrooms are typical of a SC State Park, very adequate & clean. Staff are very friendly and willing to work with us when our original reservation site wasn't what we hoped for. Pretty nice park. Some of the loops and bathhouses are closed for the season. It's a short walk to the beach. The sites are close together and kind of small, so you don't feel like you have a lot of privacy. Laundry is $1.25 per load, $1.25 for more than 30 minutes in the dryer. The main bathhouse near the store was the nicest. It was clean but not that warm, and the lights went out when I was showering. Store was closed. Wi-fi worked OK. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful beach a short walk away via nice boardwalks. The Wi-Fi covers the two loops nearest the store adequately. Others will have to use the picnic table next to it. Some of the sites are rather small and some have inconveniently placed trees that could be a problem for large rigs. I'm not suggesting they should stay away just pick their site carefully. On site 29 I couldn't find a way to park my 30 foot TT so I could open the slide out and awning at the same time. The laundromat is one of the nicest I've ever seen at a campground. I wouldn't avoid coming back but I think I prefer Huntington Beach State Park a few miles away. Good cell coverage. Satellite Dish is possible, but difficult, from some sites. Plenty of good shopping and eating nearby. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We have camped here before, that's why we are back. This campground is great for everyone. The volunteers and park rangers are extremely friendly and helpful. The campground roads are paved and very easy to navigate. There are a variety of sites large to small but mostly shaded. Easy walk to the beach on paved sidewalk. Horses provided with mulch path to the beach. Pets allowed on beach Sept 16 to May 14. A very quiet and well maintained park. The Boardwalk and pier easily accessible. Well managed and run state park that we have been going to for years, just keeps getting better. The roads are paved in the loops, so dust is no longer a problem, that walk to the beach area can be long if your in the far end of the campground, but you can drive (parking lot) or bike right to the beach. The two inner loop sites are very close together and only partially shaded. The outer loop sites are spread further apart and heavily shaded - I recommend those. This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach State Park. There are quite a variety of sizes of sites in the campground. Some sites were huge and some were very small. We were fortunate to get our site so close to a holiday. Our site was not huge but not tiny either. The site behind us was huge but their fire ring was almost up against our camper. We had to make sure our camper wasn't in danger. There is only one dump station for this huge campground. There are more sites without sewer than with sewer. There definitely are lots of tents here. We did see several tents on full hookup sites. The workers were always extremely pleasant everywhere we went. The beach was great and very close. The roads are paved and trees are abundant. We didn't see any road that was hard to maneuver in this campground. Some sites would be hard to get into because of trees. We have definitely seen state parks with lots more tighter squeezes on the roads. We will go back but will be much more selective about a site. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A beautiful park and shade every where. The sites are tight and large rigs will have a difficult time unless they know the site from previous visits. We had site 115 and had just enough room for the slides and awning for a fifth wheel. Full hookups are limited and some of these sites had tents on them. The week we were there was tent city or appeared that way. Rest rooms floors were some of the worst but that is the norm for a beach area. Would visit again but I now know what sites to choose. This was our first camping trip to the beach and we were pleasantly surprised! The campground is beautiful. It is very wooded. The roads are paved, which makes it a great place for riding bikes. The rate we paid reflected a special discount the state was running this time of year. The sites are shaded, mostly pine and oak, with sandy ground. The first site we were on (#85) was long but not very wide; with a neighbor on #84 who had slides extended, it was just too narrow for our tastes. Plus, if somebody came in across the road, we'd be trapped; we'd need access to that site to make the turn out. Luckily, at this time of year it was easy to get another site down the road that provided more elbow room. The only real downer is the location of the airport, across from the park entrance. Some of the jets came in for their landing over the rig, and not very high above the tree line. That sent the dogs (and almost the humans!) diving for cover. The noise level was bordering on painful two or three times, although most of the flights came in over the beach. Plane activity seems concentrated around 8-10 a.m. and again in late afternoon. Mid-day, it's not bad. Plenty of areas to walk pets. In the closed loop area, it's nicely shaded. The beach area is beautiful, with a long boardwalk. The park also has a few interconnected nature trails, which are well-marked. Not sure I'd do them in hot weather, when creepy stuff would be out, but in January they were pleasant. On exiting, be VERY careful of an angled tree that leans over the park road. It's past the park office and ticket booth. Keep as far left in the lane as you can; the tree bears plenty of battle scars! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first time staying at this park. We arrived late and was directed to our site by map. This park has a lot of trees and you could see scars of many of them being hit. It is not so much the trees at your site but the one across the street that interferes with your getting into the sites. We did not hit anything but saw several scrape or have to have four or five people help get their rig into the site. I would not call this park big rig friendly,maybe aquainted but not friendly. We were there over Easter weekend and the park was full. The bath houses were clean in some aspects but the showers needed work, and a good cleaning. My DW said that the ladies showers were very dirty. Also if you wanted to wash your hands you would need to bring your own soap and paper towels,none were available. The biggest thing we had a problem with was the aircraft noise. You get used to it but planes taking off and landing go over the park. Military jets can be very annoying. This is a nice park but not impressive. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground with enough space between sites to allow some room to breathe. Lots of trees which provided plenty of shade, but also blocked TV reception and except for a very few sites, using a satellite dish was out of the question. They have converted 45 sites to full service. Staff was very helpful. Restrooms OK unless you had to visit them after the beach crowd began to return. You can't beat this camp ground for the price. There is access to 2 miles of beach and a great fishing pier. I saw plenty of 40 foot MHs there. The staff was friendly. The bathhouses and laundry facility were dated but clean. If you plan on saving your $$ for going to the strip, this is the place. They do not have sewer hook ups, just a dump station. It might be good if you like trying to navigate an RV in a jungle. The trees were so thick and close together it took forever to back a 33' motor home into a site. It is very near the beach. I just didn't like it because of the "jungle conditions". I've seen "Tarzan" movies where the trees weren't that thick. Wouldn't go there again. Might be fine for a small rig or tent campers. Continues to be our favorite in the Myrtle Beach area. We like rules. No fireworks for our sadly neurotic dog.Pet and kid friendly. No golf carts driven by underage drivers.Enforced quiet time and security for the family. Arcade, lazy river, indoor/outdoor pool, and planned activities for the five year old made our week pass by way too quickly.The bathhouses were cleaned twice a day and kept well stocked.Showers in the old ones did back up with standing water.Had to pirate wifi signal, otherwise would have been $30 for the week.Site mostly level after blocks placed. For being at the ocean/beach during off-peak time this park was very nice. Clean, beautiful beach with access over the dune at many convenient spots. But the dune does block the view of the ocean. Most sites (except those on Main Trail, Lakeside Trail or Ocean View Trail) are in the open and should have no problem with satellite TV. Cable available but fuzzy. Main roads paved. Roads between sites are hard packed sand/dirt. Laundry, store and cafe are clean and neat. Indoor and outside pools clean. Lazy river small probably adequate for tweens and younger. Bathhouses clean, each shower has separate dressing area with bench and hook. Handicapped shower spacious with fold down shower bench and handheld shower and separate dressing area. Our site was two spaces up from beach and we could not connect to park WIFI. Pets allowed on beach all day except between mid-May to mid-September when pets are only allowed in the morning and evening. Sites in the main area are long enough to leave car/tow vehicle connected, level packed sand with grass between and slightly close together so don’t expect too much privacy. Hook ups at rear of site. Enough room to put out your awning except it’s too windy and most use the covered picnic table and enclose it with plastic for windbreak. Trash picked up daily at site. New shelter being built near restaurant. Restaurant open for breakfast and dinner on Friday & Saturday night. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment about food/price. Office staff polite both in person and on phone when we called for reservation. Would not book specific site, said had to take what was available due to still being busy from spring breakers. Security checks all vehicles coming into park so you must have valid hang-tag displayed. Park gates locked from Midnight to 7AM. Security also keeps watch for fireworks which are not allowed in park or on beach. Anybody found with fireworks is evicted. Overall very acceptable and quiet especially considering there are over 1000 sites in the park and the number of adults, children and pets present in the park. We would return again but not during peak season when Myrtle Beach is just one big traffic jam. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park need a renovation, starting at the front office. The office staff is a group of older ladies who are not very interested in customer service. We noted it checking in, and then a week later when we were going to extend one day, the counter person said that it was not possible as my site was rented. She made no attempt and did not offer to move us. She just walked away. There is over 1000 sites here! We opted to move to the state park about 12 miles down the coast. It was very nice and about half the price. The sites are sand and dirt, the roads are sand and dirt. When it rains there is quite a mess to navigate. The pool looked nice, but the rules do not make them user friendly. The on site store is very minimal, but it may have had to do with the time of the year, although there is a significant amount of seasonal and full time residents here. There is a 6 foot tall berm that separates the park from the beach, but there are openings in the berm about every 40 yards. The berm blocks most of the view from the park. This particular stretch of beach has several drain pipes that empty to the ocean. Signs are posted advising persons to stay 200 feet away from the drains due to bacteria. I would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great campground. My wife and I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and there is plenty for us to do. There were daily activities at the pool area including a rubber duck race! We wanted a shaded site, so we reserved a lakefront site. It was shaded, but presented a new problem - we had to have the site next door and the site across from us move thier tow vehicles so we could back our trailer into our site - they are close together. Once in, it was pleasant. The ladies checking us in and the guards at the gate were friendly. If you are camping in the oceanfront sites, you have a new, well-lighted, air conditioned showerhouse/bathroom. If you are camping in the lakefront sites, you have an old, open showerhouse/bathroom that is loaded with dead bugs each morning. Otherwise, it was clean enough. Don't plan on staying out late - they close the gates at midnight. Overall it was a nice CG. We didn't use the pool and other amenities, so we cannot comment on those. I had a reservation here that was not upheld. When I got to the campground I was informed that they didn't have a spot available. When I made the comment that they couldn"t tell me that out of all the spots they had that there wasn't even one spot open. We have always camped at the "Big 3" campgrounds farther south but we had heard good things about MBTP and decided to try it. We had some trouble getting a reservation 6 months ago, but were finally able to secure an oceanfront site. The campground is large and centrally located to many of Myrtle Beach's attractions. It is very similar in layout to the other large campgrounds in the area. First for the good, the campground is very clean. The site sizes are about average and pull thru sites were easy to access. Security was always present and checked us on every entrance into the park. The playground was new and well maintained. The bath houses were clean and up to date. The store was well stocked and the prices were not that much higher than the nearby Wal-Mart. Now for the less desirable things, my children were bored to death. There is very little to do beyond the beach and the pool area. The arcade was small with many machines broken or unplugged. The guest services area was only open from 10AM until 4PM. If you were at the beach or doing something else, you missed your chance to buy discount tickets for area attractions. There are numerous rules in this campground as well. No golf carts, no bikes after dark, no driving cars in the campground before 7AM. My husband was even corrected on how to sit in a tube to float on the lazy river and the children were corrected about how to jump into the pool. When we checked in we were charged extra because we have 3 children. We have camped in many campgrounds and have never been charged extra for immediate family camping in one camper. The check in staff were not the friendliest people we have encountered either. There was also a charge for parking overnight if you had an extra vehicle. We paid $8 to do two loads of laundry because you only got 5 minutes of drying time per .25. The outdoor pool was closed all day one day for a child's accident and the indoor pool was overwhelmed with campers. We had a significant ant problem despite going through 3 cans of ant spray. This is a nice campground for families that plan to spend time and money outside of the park or for retired folks that appreciate peace and quiet. My family was afraid to talk or laugh loudly for fear of being called down again. We paid $60 a night, plus tax, plus extra for our third child despite having less in campground activities. We have paid less for other area campgrounds and rarely needed to leave the park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We camped during the Motorcycle rally. There were a ton of sites available. We camped around the lake and got to see the gator. The campground was clean and my children really enjoyed riding their bikes in the campground. We spent a lot of time swimming in the indoor pool. The outside pool was still really cold. We were less than thrilled with the rules of the lazy river. They close the lazy river if they don't have someone there to police it. And they make you sit in the tube a certain way. Then the children have to sit on top of you if they aren't tall enough. My 6 year old can swim but had to sit on me to use the river. Not fun or family friendly. The playground is also locked at a certain time. Not sure why! They made us leave so they could lock the gate. We will choose a different campground next year to stay in. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is by far the largest park we have stayed in, and one of the most expensive. Our rate does not reflect the tax ($6.50/day). It is an older park, but nice. We were in a full hookup site not far from the ocean. It was pleasant to sit outside and hear the waves or go to the beach. The site was grass and sand but pretty level. A picnic table is under a shelter. Many put wind breaks/shades around the shelter which would be useful because it was pretty windy while we were there. The bathhouses are large and very nice. I heard they have built several new ones in the last few years. The laundry is large. $1.75 per load. The campstore is very well stocked. Folks in the office were friendly. Wi Fi is available but expensive. $10 per day, $25 per week. The speed was o.k. but not great. Garbage is picked up daily at your site. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped here on motorcycle weekend; we don't own a motorcycle. We had no problems. The bikes were parked at the entrance and were not allowed in the campground, could not even tell the rally was going on until we left the grounds. Check in was a breeze.The sites are roomy and clean. Bath houses and pools are immaculate. Suprisingly quite place with little traffic.The only reason I gave less than perfect they charge for the Wifi. We camped on the lake, watch out for the gator. We are going back again this year... We were here for 12 days beginning March 11. Was supposed to be for 14 days but left early. Spring break was taking place and it was a zoo. Parents weren't watching their kids. Almost hit one with our car. No helmets, no lights. Dog owners let there dogs go wherever. We even found a bag of poop where our trash was supposed to be place. We have two dogs and would never do something like that. Observably people taking their dogs into the restrooms. The rudeness of the campers shocked us. Never have we camped where there were these kind of campers. Before break it was great. After...forget it. Don't know how the previous poster got such a cheap rate. We just made it before they raised their rates for the summer season. Don't know where security was. We were up in the 300's. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park has a lot going for it. The volunteer staff and rangers were very friendly and hospitable. The beach, which is wide and well maintained, is just a short stroll from the camp ground. The location is right on the edge of town if you need to make a supermarket run or just want to eat out. On the not-so-great side of the ledger: the sites are very close together, and some, such as 186 where we stayed, are at an angle that goes against the one-way traffic flow, which makes backing in challenging. Ironically we reserved site 186 because on the camp ground map it 'seemed' that it had a bit of open space on one side of it. Maybe at some point in time...but currently, there's another camp site tucked there. All in all, though, a lovely campground to which we look forward to returning some day. Excellent campground. We have done a lot of camping in Myrtle Beach, and this our favourite by far. Brand new washrooms and showers which are very clean. Excellent pool area with a lazy river. This park was one of the nicer ones in Myrtle Beach. Clean sites, new bathhouses, easy access to the beach, and a great pool. We opted to stay up near the lake. This area is shaded by tall pines and oaks. Sites were level and wide by beach resort standards. The section where the seasonal sites were was very nice and the units were well kept. The "villa" style rentals looked very nice. The staff was friendly and attentive to the needs of the guests. It was handy to main highway access, shopping, and tourist attractions. We plan on returning next season. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the first time we have stayed at this campground and we will certainly go back. It was great! We stayed near to the ocean but there were sites available which were shaded by trees. rather enjoyed being out it the open Each site hs its own structure over the picnic table. Very handy. The bathhouses were very clean and never crowded though the park was full. The cable was very limited. There were only around 12 channels but since I only watch just before bed it wasn't too big a deal. Staff was friendly and helpful. The indoor and outdoor pools were lovely as well as the lazy river. The lake was just beautiful and it was fun to watch the turtles popping their heads above the water and swimming around. We were almost a week into our vacation when hubby remarked that we hadn't stepped foot out of the campground. The only thing I didn't like was that they closed the entrance gate at midnight. I think I should be able to come and go as I please. It really didn't settle well with me when one evening at 12:30 AM our new neighbors arrived in their fifth wheel. Between the diesel truck idling and the banging was tempted to bring it up to the main office. Ah well. It was really a relaxing time and a great place to stay. Will do it again next year for sure. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

The campground itself is very nicely located right off the Highway 22 bypass. This makes getting to the camp easy and you miss all the downtown traffic. There is a Super Walmart very near by. Our campsite was right next to the Ocean. There is a lot of foot traffic of people walking by to the Ocean and walking their dogs on the beach. The bathouses were some of the best we have ever been to. Each campsite has a picnic table shelter. The seasonal campers use the shelters in very different ways, like mini recreation rooms. The management was very professional. The campground restaurant, lazy river, and camp store was closed this time of the season. The WiFi is not free. Some of the roads are not paved, but I believe it would be hard to with all the sand. Be prepared for lots of sand. Bring your mats, rugs and vacuum cleaners. You are on a beach. We would definitely go back to Myrtle Beach Travel Park Campground. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This is the finest campground that we have ever stayed at. My family and I have been coming here for 20 years. The bathrooms and showers do not rival campgrounds, they rival expensive hotels! We did not actually stay here but toured the campground to see if we would want to stay at another time. Very friendly welcoming staff. Very nice pool area. New shower houses being constructed. The only drawbacks I saw to this campground were the sites would be hard to get in because of the fences between sites. The roads are mostly unpaved but in good condition but at beach access points the ocean was actually in the road in the campground at high tide. I would not discourage anyone from staying here. Great Campground!!! Stayed here Labor Day weekend '06. Restrooms were clean and campground was clean. Activities at pool fun for kids (we have 3-ages 8 to 14) and adults. Only problem was campers across the street had a Rottwiler type dog and I was not comfortable with that. While he was kept on a leash, he barked at anyone walking by or riding by on bikes. We will be back though, this is the only campground for us in Myrtle Beach area. Highly recommend!!!!. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here for the last eight years straight. This year, in June, we stayed for a few days at another campground in Myrtle Beach that allowed golf carts. We gained new appreciation for this park. They do not allow golf carts here except to the permanent sites residents, and this makes a world of difference regarding traffic and noise. The campsites are spacious and most of the sites outside of the shaded ares are not back-to-back with other camp sites. This park is very clean. The park definitely promotes a family atmosphere. Great park for all ages. Our first stay here as we usually go to Ocean Lakes. Each site with shelter over picnic table nice. Good breakfasts at lil cg restaurant. Teens stayed happy and going whole time without leaving campground (6 nights). I like this end of Myrtle. It was very hot and no interest in cooking or grilling, lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. We stayed very near beach and pool, great location. I understand MBTP will not reserve a certain site but friends tell me they have never had a problem getting within section they requested. We just told them would like to be as close to pool as possible and were very happy with it. No golf carts which suited us fine. Pretty loud music at pool much of the time which didn't bother me until we changed campgrounds and did notice the difference. Only minus for me was no free internet. My teens still rate Ocean Lakes best. Fireworks at night bother neurotic dog but that's our problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of the best campgrounds we have stayed in. We camped in an ocean / pool area site. It is small enough not to require a golf cart to get around but includes many amenities of the larger campgrounds, like Ocean Lakes. Even though it is very close to great restaurants and shopping - Tanger Outlets and Walmart are within a mile of the front gate - it is very quiet. We were there during a "bike week" and did not notice any motorcycle noise. The pools are large and pretty uncrowded. The snack bar is actually reasonably priced for most items. The store and laundry were very nice and they are in the process of renovating the bath houses. The new ones are amazingly nice and clean. The only drawback I saw was that the streets between campsites and the sites themselves aren't paved or don't have concrete pads, which isn't a big deal to me. We will definitely be back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at MBTP for six months, ending April 2006. We enjoyed staying there and made many friends among the seasonals. The park has spent a lot on replacing the old bathhouses with beautiful new ones. But there is not a suitable activity building for the snow birds - the space they have is old and too small. This is unfortunate, since many activities are available. The reservation "system" is completely manual making it impossible to reserve a specific space for the next season. We stayed in the beachfront section of this campground. I think I would have preferred to be in the more woodsy sites since they weren't as packed together but the beachfront was a nice experience. It was pretty windy most of the time and I am assuming that's why there are no fire rings there. We didn't even bother putting our awning out. The beach was very nice and since it was before the summer season, dogs were permitted on the beach. My dogs loved this since they have never been near the ocean. It was so much fun watching them frolic on the sand and run from the waves. There were always people with dogs on the beach and I never saw any messes, so it looks like everyone picked up after their dogs. Getting back to the campground...it's very secure, with a manned gate. There are golf carts around but we never saw them to be a problem. The pool was open but not heated, so it was too cold to swim, but the Lazy River was fantastic! I spent quite a bit of time just lounging in the tube floating around and around. There were lifeguards helping people get on and off the tubes. There is also an indoor pool which was much warmer of course, but I prefer sitting in the sun by the outdoor pool. The arcade was popular with my son who racked up a lot of tickets and spent them on some odds and ends the day we left. Most of the roads were paved and level, which made bike riding a pleasure. The bathhouses are mostly all new and very clean and nice. There is a nice snack bar, and when my husband and I took the kids there, the woman running it was so nice and brought our food out to the table we were sitting at. I did use the laundry room as well, so I cam say it was large and all the machines were working. I don't remember how much the machines cost...somewhere around $1.50 per wash and 25 cents for 8 minutes in the dryer I believe. The store was nice and well stocked and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed our stay at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The campground was awesome! We had originally intended to stay at Lakewood, but at the advice of my sister-in law, we chose to stay at the Travel Park instead and are glad we did. All the amenities were great. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Both pools were great. Nice game room for the kids. Park has a store and a laundry which we used. Location of park was great as the entrance was only a mile or so from the off-ramp of highway 22, which we came in on. Also, shopping, Wal-Mart and grocery stores were very close by and easy to get to. We will most definitely stay here again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our favorite park in Myrtle Beach. We spend the last week of July every year camping in Mrytle Beach. We have tied many parks and this is the best. Friendly helpful staff. Rules are enforced, ie, no fireworks, no motorcycles, no golfcarts. Kids can walk on the roads without fear of being run over by teens on golfcarts. Swimming pools, campstore, snackbar and gameroom are great. We camp in the shady area by the lake instead of the oceanfront sites, which have no shade. Beach access is easy. Plenty to do without leaving the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great place on the beach to camp. There is also a free fishing lake. They have seasonal & permanent sites as well as travel trailers & villas for rent. I suggest making reservations for the summer by May of that same year. This campground does not take credit cards when making reservations. You will need to send in a deposit by personal check or money order. After May they told us they were booked for summer. Called almost daily & exactly one month from the day we wanted to camp we got a reservation. Very large & busy place during peak season but I think they hold back sites for drive ins. We found some empty sites while camping in July. You would think in the day of modern technology they would make reservations differently. Staff was friendly & courteous. Building new shower houses. Have really nice pools; indoor & outdoor & lazy river. Good location on the strip and convenient to restaurants, shopping and tourist. 15 minutes from Camping World. This is an awesome campground. We found the restrooms to be fairly new and spotless. The swimming pool complex is very nice with a large pool, kiddie pool, and lazy river. There were poolside activities daily for children. Live musical entertainment was provided poolside a couple of days during our visit. The campground has a very nice camp store, laundromat, snack bar, and playground. An outdoor pavilion provided evening entertainment and church services. Check-in was a breeze. All the employees are so very nice and helpful. This campground does not rent golf carts to guests, and we found that to be a big plus. We got tired of dodging the golf carts in the other Myrtle Beach campgrounds. We had a shaded lakeside campsite which was very nice. We have now stayed at all the Myrtle Beach campgrounds, and this one is now our favorite. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This place is absolutely fabulous. They have wooded sites, lake sites, and beach sites. With over 1100 sites you have a good choice. You dont ever have to leave the park. The beach is long and clean. They have a fully stocked store, snack bar, caf, laundry, and more. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are large and clean and they even have a Lazy River for tubing. There is always entertainment going on. The place is always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have their own visitors center that will make reservations for in town entertainment for you. It is midway between North and South Myrtle Beach so access to both is easy. If you are heading to or through Myrtle Beach, this is the place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent quiet campground. Golf carts are limited to the permanent residents.
Spaces are nice size with a covered picnic table at each site. Bath houses were sparkling clean. The only downside is that the camp store closed in October but Wally World in nearby so that was not a problem. You can't reserve specific sites but all sites seemed to be ok. Gate locked at midnight. Park is very quiet. We will use this park again especially during the summer when other parks that allow golf carts are at or near capacity. We have been going here for many years now but this is my first review here. They are in
process of upgrading their bathhouse facilities. The new ones are as nice as any I have seen. The older ones are still fine and cleaned daily. The rest of the campground is well maintained. the area but very nice. All campsites in beach front area are pull through with a picin table and shelter. They are mostly level with more grass than sand. CAmpsites are good size with plenty of room for slideouts and awnings and even a screen house if you wish. Pool is great for youg and old and has a 9' section for diving. Nice heated lazy river. Bath houses are fantastic and kept clean. Garbage is picked up daily. Staff was very friendly. Our three kids enjoyed the campground as much as us. I have stayed in the Park twice since reviewing it last year and I wanted to update my
comments. The Office Staff has made an about face; they have become customer oriented and very helpfull. On every occasion that I talked to them on the phone or in person, they have made a special effort to answer my questions and resolve any problems to "my satisfaction" They have been very nice! I only had one minor negative comment. The new shower houses are absolutely gorgeous, but the design of the direction of the shower heads is faulty. I can understand why they ran the plumbing on the exterior walls; however, this makes the direction of water spray directly towards the curtain and doors and results in major flooding on the floors. This forces the user to move everything out of the way or things will get seriously wet. Again, I am very pleased that Office Staff has become customer oriented.

This was our third trip to this campground. Overall I find it to be a very nice campground even though I have a few suggestions for the owners. The pool area with the Lazy River is very nice, clean and new. Most all the campsites are in close proximity to the ocean. Most of the other parks in MB allow golf carts and that can be very annoying. The only golf carts allowed here are the ones that the permanent site owners have. As mentioned in an earlier post the main roads are paved but the other streets are sand. I do not prefer this even though it is very hard packed. Every campsite has a shelter and some are spaced as not to allow you to open your awning. Most however do allow you to extend your awning. What LARGE campground in the year 2003 does not use a computer system? It is very difficult to deal with the office staff. When I made my reservations they could not confirm my reservation until they had my check in hand. Ever heard of credit cards? This is a very large campground and I think they are losing money by not having a computer system. It is very obvious that they can have an empty site and not even realize it. I guess it works but I did hear several people voice concerns over the way they handle reservations. Overall a very good campground with a good location. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park is super--close to the water. Interior roads are great for bike riding. Pets are welcome. Service help efficient. Had a leaking exterior faucet-fixed promptly. The problem with the park is the office help. I have stayed at the park three times during the past 12 months. Stays of 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 4 days. On all these occasions I made reservations. Each time the staff acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me stay at they park. On the last occasion, a month ago, I rented one of their trailers, my unit was full with storage items. I requested three times that they make a rental trailer available with a site available adjacent for my travel trailer. This would make it easier for me to access my personal items from my trailer. When I arrived, the staff had placed a trailer for someone else next door to me stating that these people had made a reservation months ago. So had I. Speaking to the neighbors, I came to discover they had just decided in the last few days to come to Myrtle Beach. Fine, however, there were six empty spots on the otherside of their site. Ofcouse, bringing this to the Office Staffs attention resulted in somehow all this being my fault that I had not made a reservation earlier. They were not aware of the fact that I had talked to my neighbors and knew the truth of the matter. It is not unusual treatment--call for a reservation and they make it sound like all their sites are filled. Get there and 500 are empty. It is a shame--rude, rude staff. I have come to accept it and deal with it accordingly. No longer a surprise. We enjoy the access to the beach. Otherwise I would give my money to a different RV Park. I have overheard other conversations in the office with RVers complaining about the same issues. Doubt the staffs attitude will change. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice campground. The sites are fairly close together. Every site has a permanent shelter that you can park next to. The main streets are paved but the smaller streets are packed sand so dust can be a concern and it is hard for kids to navigate on bikes. Location is very convenient. Overall good campground if you prefer to stay north of 501. We camped here in a camper.

We camped at Ocean Lakes for 9 nights. We only had camped in small Maine campgrounds and State Parks prior to this trip. We were not sure we would enjoy such a large campground with so many people and pets around. What we found there was a beautiful, well maintained, very clean park. Security was visible and all staff we encountered were polite and helpful. Our concerns about feeling crowded were unfounded. There was very little people or pet noise pollution, most of the time we thought we were the only ones in the park it was so quiet. We did not rent a golf cart as we prefer to walk while seeing the sights and people watching, although during the summer months a golf cart would be a plus due to the heat. No matter where you are in the park it is a reasonable walk to the beach, pool, store and for an ice cream cone. The park is right on the beach so you could always feel the ocean breeze, and with a short walk you could dip your toes in the surf. Our lot, 3077 had a concrete pad, it was a little tight getting on and off, but not unreasonable or difficult. We will definitely go back again, I would like to make it a spring ritual. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We absolutely loved staying at Ocean Lakes Family Campground. This has to be the largest campground we have ever stayed at. We prepaid our entire stay before arriving, so we had an express check-in and went right into our campsite. Our site was about 3 spaces from the beach, which was great access to the beach, but it wasn't really necessary to be that close. We reserved a close spot because we expected to be at the beach most of the time, but there was so much stuff to do at the campground, we were all over the place. Renting a golf cart here is an absolute must; if you don't own one. Everyone has a golf cart here and if you are not traveling around in the park with it, you are going for a night cruise or people watching around the park. My kids wanted to move here. If we weren't at the beach, we were at the pool, eating ice cream, going to the skate park, playing Bingo, entered into a guitar hero tournament, mini golf tournament and so much more. This campground has something for everyone; very family oriented. We came on a very busy weekend of Memorial Day and the beach was packed. I was able to do laundry while I was laying out at the pool. It was a vacation very well spent. We camped here in a Motorhome.

My evaluation might have been much better, but for the attitude of the initial contact person. We were told they were busy, and were asked to call back. When we called back in 1/2 hour, the female contact person asked what area we wanted to be in. We told her that we were not familiar with the park, and asked which sites were available and were informed that she had two sites, one in the 3000 area and one in the 4000 area. The online site map was not adequate to see the numbers and sites, and next to impossible to read. Realizing that the park must have been very full, we asked if something was going on to generate that much traffic during a slow season, and were assured that this was a normal week with no events planned. No mention was made of oceanfront sites or sites near the pool or "quiet" sites, only that she only had two sites. We opted for one along the road at the North side of the camp. When we arrived, there was no escort, and the site we were given as a pull through was inadequate to house our 40 foot motor home pulling a jeep, and we had to disconnect on arrival. A trip through the park revealed that there were sites available in the area near the ocean, and there were sites available in the area near the pool, as well as some near the fishing lakes. Any of those sites would have been preferable, but I really didn't want to hook up, pull in the slides, build up air pressure and move to another site. That was a mistake! Traffic on that road was constant 24 hours a day, including dog walkers who used gasoline powered golf carts to walk their dogs and security vehicles which came through more frequently at night on this road than on any other road we could see. In addition, we quickly learned that it was "bike week" in Myrtle Beach. While Ocean Lakes did not permit motorcycle traffic within the park, the park next door had provided a parking lot for motorcycles, and it was situated directly across the road from our site. If the contact person we spoke with had not been so overwhelmed with her job, and had told us about bike week and told us of the availability other sites, our visit could have been more pleasant, but it wasn't and as a result, we will not return to Ocean Lakes, and will continue to inform anyone who asks about Ocean Lakes that the staff does not have time for customers, and fails to realize that customers are the only business they have. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at Ocean Lakes several times and have enjoyed it. We go in the spring and fall and they always have activities planned. Bathhouses should be cleaned twice a day with so many people using them but they are never nasty by any means. All the sites are pull through and they are adding more comcrete sites. The store is well stocked with almost anything you could need. with the snack bars, the store, and laundry facilities you never have to leave the park. We stay in the section K so we are close enough to everything and have no need to rent a golf cart, but they do rent them if you want it. All in all my family loves this campground. Plenty to keep the kids busy. My only complaint would be that several of my e-mails to them have gone unanswered. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We had a fantastic time here. We were 150" from the ocean in the H section. Close to pools, club house, arcades and stores. There is everything you need here right on sight. We rented a golf cart which we recommend the campground is huge. There was so much to do. The staff was friendly and security was wonderful always visible. It is a huge park with rows and rows of RV sites as well a permanent resort near the main road. It is near shopping and restaurants, on the south side of Myrtle Beach. There are lots of activities, nice pools, next to nice beach, pet and kid friendly. Our only complaints were that the pull-thru site, J15, although advertised as not suitable for large rigs, was not even suitable for our small 23' fifth wheel. I could pull in OK after negotiating a very narrow back lane with kids, but a tree made it impossible to exit out of the site, so we had to back out carefully. The other minor complaint was that there was no WIFI at our site, we had to sit near the washrooms to get WIFI. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We reserved an ocean front site last September for this vacation. We rescheduled our vacation so we could have this site. The management never told us that major road construction would be going on right in front of our campsite. We had to ask why the bulldozer, crane, back hoe and dump truck were being parked right in front of us. The management didn't care about the noise or disruption and didn't do much to make any amends. It is a county project the campground had no control over, but they should have notifed all the visitors of the issue. If you have an oceanfront site between now and the end of May, beware! The whole road is being dug up for construction. Don't expect to learn about it from Ocean Lakes. We will never stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When we arrived, our toad's battery was dead. A friendly camper called the security, and they came with a jump pack right away. We pulled into our site, I backed up, pulled back in to straighten out, and sunk up to my axles. I have a 40' motorhome, and we had an unpaved site. I STRONGLY suggest that big motorhomes get paved sites. Ocean Lakes Security called in a wrecker and they paid to pull me out. The put me on a paved site for the night. They were booked, so I had to move again. The staff was great in helping us out. First class. When booked up, some corners can be tight. There's one spot where they left a tree in the middle of the road. This is a very nice RV park with a mixture of homes inside the park, and it's right on the beach. It's very large, so that's why there are golf carts everywhere. We went in the off season, so we were able to drive our car down to the beach (I have 2 young kids). In season, only golf carts can park there. I didn't use the comfort stations or the pools. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had a concrete slab spot. We had a great time and the campground workers were lots of help. I highly recommend the express check in. We breezed right by the check in lines and were unhooked and set up in no time. I thought that a golf cart was an unnecessary thing but it is almost a necessity. This is a large campground. They have security and assistants to move you through quickly. There is just about everything you would need, restaurant,laundry,store, community center, indoor pool etc. Our site was right at the beach. This park is enormous, but the beach which made it well worth the size. A bit difficult to turn a motorhome into one of the little streets to get to our site, but other campers were very helpful to give us alternate way around. No escorts to sites. The store was well stocked, but it's only moments out the front gate to get anything you need. Sites are not huge and a little gritty from the sand, but nothing that wasn't expected. This "campground" is an RV Resort in my mind. There is nothing that you could possibly want that you will not find at this park. Every single thing was perfect. I will say that their WIFI is very expensive. The golf car rental is expensive also, but we were very glad that we rented one. We did not have a car while we were there for two weeks and we could bike to WalMart which was a couple of miles away. The park was not full when we were there and we had no problems whatsoever with our dogs...they were allowed on the beach while we were there. Just a beautiful location with state of the art laundry facilities, pizza delivery by golf cart, very nice HUGE store and gift shop. Beautiful facility!! We camped here in an oceanfront site in a motorhome and we WILL DEFINITELY return! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We've stayed at this campground many times and have enjoyed each stay. The facilities are nice. So we planned another trip over the holidays. Unfortunately, we found we needed to change our reservation for the following week. The campsite we had selected was available for the new dates also. I was surprised that when I called, they wanted a $25 cancellation fee. I didn't want to cancel, just change the dates. They wanted $25 to cancel then I could make new reservations. What? I pay $25 to cancel, and then you want me to spend more money here to camp? They've become like a bank now. Charging a fee because they think they can, not to cover any real costs. Nothing was mailed to me, the campground is not sold out, so it really should have been just a simple change in the computer with no real cost. I know I wanted to change dates. Peoples plans change sometimes, despite their best intentions, no need to penalize them for it unless it had cost you something. I *thought* they would prefer to have a paying camper staying there. These days, places that cater to discretionary spending such as this should be bending over backwards for your dollars. Instead, they will get my $25 and I will never return. We stayed here 2 weeks, and once again enjoyed being so close to the beach that you can hear the ocean and have a nice view. We definitely prefer the sites with concrete pads (they seem to be getting more of these each time). We like the nice laundry and other amenities in the park; but it does get a bit crowded sometimes and the "full-time" or "regulars" seem to feel that you should cater to them (for example they will park in the road and make you wait while they chit-chat). This is one huge park! We stayed one night, but our friends enjoyed the beach so much that allows dogs that they stayed 3 nights. They charge extra for sites with concrete pads, but they did not seem any more level than the others. Only one precious row is along the beach, the rest are inland but a fairly short walk to the beach. Wifi is a whopping $10/day, and the outdoor snack bar with free wifi is a very long walk from most sites. The laundry and other facilities seemed top notch. The price seemed reasonable for what it is. Although it's not my style of campground, I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We recently stayed there for a rally from 10/6/08-10/10/08. The checkin staff/CG employees were very friendly and helpful when needed. The CG itself is huge and has just about everything you would need. The only complaint would be that while free WiFi is available at the onsite eatery/snackbar, it is limited to no more than 8 people at a time. If you want WiFi at your site, it cost extra at $9.95 per day which I think is a little pricey. They do however, have more than the usual number of available cable stations at the sites. My family and I have stayed in the Holiday Inn Section of Ocean Lakes for the last 3 years and love it there. The beach houses are gorgeous and we all love riding the golf carts all over the place. It is so much fun. The indoor and outdoor pools are awesome. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. My sister is handicapped and we were having a hard time last year figuring out the lift for the outdoor pool so we went inside and a super sweet girl came out by the pool helped my sister into the seat and gently and slowly lowered her into the water. She told us when we were finished to come get her and she would help us get her back out of the pool. Which she did. The grounds are always clean. Our favorite is the Sandy Mart. We love the clerks in there and the food at the Snack Shack is wonderful. Everything you need is just within a short golf cart ride all inside the beautiful Ocean Lakes Campground. We're already booked for September 2009 and can hardly wait. Check out Ocean Lakes when you're planning your family vacation. You will not be disappointed. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.

This is probably the largest park we've ever stayed in and it took a little while to adjust. Great location and amenities. The beach was wonderful. We could walk right to the beach from our site. Be sure to padlock your coolers to your rig. Several people had their coolers stolen at night and we heard from others it is a regular occurrence. The kids loved the amenities especially "cruising" at night in the golf car. You will definitely need to rend a golf car if you visit as this place is huge. We would definitely visit again. I was very happy with most aspects of this campground. I loved the beach. We had a concrete pad which was very nice. Bathhouse was clean as was the laundry. Pools, gameroom and miniature golf were clean and nice. Store was huge. Every worker we encountered was extremely helpful and friendly. We did express check-in so it was a quick drive through the gates and to our site. Only issue with campground maintenance was that sites were not cleaned between guests. Our grassy area was littered with cigarette butts upon arrival and were still there when we left 8 days later. On our awning side, our neighbors seemed to think that the space behind them (OUR site) was there's to use as they wanted. The neighbors on the other side parked their diesel truck in the grass as close to our camper as they could. I could literally reach out my window and touch their truck. And, they liked to start it and run it alot. Even after "quiet time" started at 11pm. There seemed to be a total lack of consideration for others. Also, kids/adults walked through others campsites instead of using the roads. Then, there is the golf car issue. I personally enjoy going to the beach in the evening. However, you could not get across the road to the beach due to the steady parade of golf cars at night. Nobody, teens or adults, would stop to let you cross the road. I have stayed at larger campgrounds than this, and did not experience people utilizing our site as theirs, etc. so I am not sure why we experienced it here. We will probably return here to enjoy the campground but during the "off season" We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Ocean Lakes is a very big campground that uses every available inch of space to maximize to number of units it can accommodate. The signs were often obscured thus the directions to the sites were a challenge for the first time visitor. The need for an escort to the site would give this campground an higher rating. We enjoyed the park, all the amenities, and the beach. Also, the park was close to many restaurants, tourist locations, and RV repair services. Our only complaint was with the Wi-Fi service--it was very poor and when we complained about paying for service that did not work we were told that it was not guaranteed to work inside an RV (seemed odd to offer Wi-Fi in an RV park that does not work in an RV and not to tell you prior to paying). After several days of complaining and calling the service provider and speaking to the park manager finally got a callback from the provider owner and was given a refund. Parks should only get credit for having Wi-Fi if the service actually works. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Well maintained/organized campground thats loaded with amenities. Staff friendly and helpful. Most campground sites were a one to two minute walk to the beach. Huge/well stocked campground store. RV sites seem to be above average in size. Campground great for pets. Some of the things we had a problem with was the first night we were there we had our cooler broken into along with the campsite next to us. We have been camping for 14 years and have traveled from Maine to Florida and New Jersey to California. This Campground is the biggest place we have ever stayed at. Our stay was for the week of Easter. You would think that a place so big would not take the time or go the extra mile to make sure your stay was happy. But from the time you arrive at the Front Desk you can just see how well the place is ran. The young man that checked us in was had my wife laughing after being in our truck for 11 hours. The site was wide and level with all hook-ups conveniently placed. They even had a 25 ft cable for you. The campground had a large list of services on the property; RV Center, Property rentals, golf carts rentals, Snack-bar, very large Laundromat, Rec. Center, game room, pools, (indoor heated pool) and propane delivery. All areas were clean with friendly staff. Also the store here was like walking into a super campground store, if you could not find it there, you did not need it. About the bath houses, my youngest stated that they were the cleanest she has ever seen. The only down side to this campground was; the Security and the band of disrespectful young people roaming and riding on golf carts. The park posts they have 24 hour Security. During the day you see older police cars riding around, but at night I do not remember seeing them. The young people speeding and cruising through at night , (in cars, trucks & golf carts), was like being in down town Myrtle Beach on Friday night. We had our cooler, yes full of soda, beer and wine, and my fishing tackle box stolen from our site between 7 pm and 8:30 pm. This was the first thing I have ever had stolen from us since starting camping. When I spoke to Security they made it seem that it is a regular occurrence. I also spoke with a fellow camper 3 site away whose cooler was also taken. He told me that 4 coolers were taken that night. We hope to return but we will bring extra bike locks. Lover it! Will definitely be back. We had section I sites 5 and 6 oceanfront. Paved roads throughout. Concrete pad at camp site well worth the money. Our sites were level. Lots to do for kids here. Our children didn't want to leave! It's like a little town, you don't have to leave for anything. Highly recommend a golf cart to get around this place or some form of wheeled transportation. A Wonderful place to spend New Years. This is a very large park with typical parking lot type sites. They are not small by any means but if you want privacy you will not find it here. We had a newly cemented site and yes it is worth the extra money to have. We were able to have the rig on the cement and the entire awning was over cement as well. The amenities were great for winter as well. Our children really liked the annual Polar Bear Plunge on new years eve. The only issue we had was golf carts. They are a nice mode of transportation in the park but the park does not seem to enforce the rules about who drives them. Some of the children we came across were a little on the reckless side. That is the only thing that keeps us from giving this resort a 10. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We booked off the of the internet for Thanksgiving holiday. We were totally impressed with operation. There were activities even in the off season for the kids (breakfast with Santa, bingo, karaoke, church services) and the staff was so friendly. I'm not sure where the last reviewer stayed, but EVERYONE here waves, says hello and starts of conversations. We needed duct tape, 5 mins later someone showed up as our neighbor radio'd them. Thanksgiving night another neighbor brought us a nice table cloth to "fancy up our picnic table" for our dinner. Campers are friendly, trusting and make the experience worth it. The park is pristine, no trash, bathrooms were heated and always clean. We already booked to go back this summer and the kids are so excited to partake in the outdoor pools and beach. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This was our first visit to Myrtle Beach. I was somewhat hesitant on staying at this campground due to the reports of the excessive golf cart traffic. We had a great time. Even though our stay was over the "Golf Cart" parade weekend, the golf carts were not bothersome. Staff courteous and helpful. Security present but not overbearing. Our site was 60 feet from the beach. Sites are Pull-Thru, however there isn't a lot of maneuvering space available. Will be returning on a yearly basis. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is way too big. It is not just the number of camping sites, but also the large number of rental housing units, old park models, old trailer houses and newer 2 and 3 story rental and for sale houses. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Lots of security personnel driving around. The status symbol in the campground is the size and type of golf cart you buzz around in. While walking they were a menace and while driving my truck I was concerned I would accidently run over one. Most of the other campers acted totally surprised if you waved and said hi to them. Not sure if they were miserable or just aloof. I wouldn't stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This place is HUGE! There are other choices in the area (we checked them out on our bikes), but we thought this was the nicest. Paved roads throughout, easy in and out. We had a cement pad which was very nice. Daily garbage pick-up at your site. We were about 100' from the beach. Very nice pool. We would definitely go back here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was the second year in a row we stayed during Labor day week. It was very crowded for the weekend but by Tuesday about half the sites were empty. Restrooms were always clean. All sites are pull through with hook ups easily accessible. If Karaoke bars are not for you request a site other than at the North east end of the park since the Myrtle Beach Resort has this right next door. We enjoyed it so it was not a problem. This place is huge and you can get lost real quick but after a day or so it all makes sense. There is always something going on, people coming in all this time, golf carts all over the place but everyone seemed to obey the rules so we had no problems walking around. Some of these golf cart owners take these things pretty seriously the way they have them decked out. Most people keep to them selfs but were friendly and to not many are out at night sitting. I am not too sure on campfires as there were no rings or pits but I have my own so I thing I was the only one who had a camp fire at night. You can't have fires on the beach. The pool was nice but I could see if this stay was more on season it would be crowded. The beach was very clean but was pretty narrow. The paved roads were in great shape. The sites seamed to have plenty of room, more so than the 2 neighboring campgrounds. The staff was pleasant and made great suggestions on what to see and do. I would definitely recommend this campground as a nice place to stay and I will return if I am back in that area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was the second year in a row that we have stayed here and have enjoyed it both times. Ocean lakes is a huge, nice park with lots of amenities. What with the large camp store, laundromat, mini golf, snack bars, pool and arcade, you could conceivably spend your entire vacation without even leaving the park. But if you are looking for a peaceful and private atmosphere, this is not the place to go. Ocean Lakes is like a very busy town. Houses and campsites are on top of each other. The pool is packed. Traffic is coming in all day/night and golf carts are everywhere. While golf cart rental is expensive (around $300 for the week) they are pretty much essential here. Besides not having to walk in the heat and lug stuff around, they are so much fun! At night the oceanfront area becomes "the strip", with everyone cruising in their golf carts. Great fun, especially for teenagers. We were just barely able to fit our 19' camper with awning and 2 vehicles on the site. But when you call for a reservation here you pretty much have to take what you can get because most people reserve their sites a year and a half in advance. I have already tried to get a reservation for next summer (11 months away) and was told that there were only two sites available for my time period. Overall this is a good place to stay for families and people who don't mind all the excitement of the place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

If large campgrounds are your thing, then this is the place for you. It is very large and even has it's own post office. It was a nice campground, but I was a little disappointed in the overall appearance. There were cigarette butts, drink cans, small pieces of trash, and fireworks scraps not just on the beach but also in campsites. The sites were good size, but the sand was everywhere. Pool area was too small for a campground that size (literally standing room only). Bath houses were clean and checked on a regular basis. Entire staff was nice, but even they said they could only do so much. Golf Carts were everywhere. It had rude campers, and frequently drunk, with persons cutting thru your site at all hours of the day and night, and we were not even close to a bath house. Finally put picnic table up to block the way. Will not go back, but mainly because of the size and rude campers. Much too large for us. We like the 200-300 site size campgrounds. Would recommend, but only as last resort. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in an Ocean Front lot and it was very close to the ocean. The pads were concrete very level all accommodations were 1st Class. At night the campers have a golf cart cruise after dark but security shuts them down at 10pm and it is very quiet and nice. Great place for all ages. Nice mini golf and pool also. Excellent RV park. Lots of things to do. Friendly staff and fellow campers. Concrete pads are sweet! Very nice beach. Pools were very clean. Only problem was a overzealous old lifeguard who acted like she was a female dictator. We were wondering if swimming was allowed at the pool since she wouldn't allow anything else that might be fun like tossing those soft pool balls. Bath houses were very nice. The employees there are referred to as team members, and they really act like it! They are always willing to help with a smile, and they seem to enjoy the atmosphere just as much as we did. My four year old loved the golf carts, and the security polices for reckless driving and speeding. At 11:00 they start quiet time, and it really works! There is a lot to do to keep the entire family entertained, and we liked it so much that we stored our camper there and are headed back next week! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Now this place is interesting. If you have a golf cart, bring it, or you will be in the minority, and it costs $57.00 a day to rent one. We didn't rent one. We stayed on an end site across from the ocean and skateboard area. Nice pools and close to the boardwalk and other touristy areas. Well maintained for it's size. I think I read on a flyer in the park there are 983 RV sites, but before you reach them you'll drive trough 1,000 or so condos/beach homes. Very well-maintained campground. Can get crowded over the holiday weekend, but the staff handles the crowds very well. Lots of activities for kids of every age. New activities/amenities built on ongoing basis. Everything needed for several weeks of vacation within the campground, no need to leave. This place is great , we come down for both bike weeks every spring , love the Beach. They have all the jail inmates clean it around 5 or so in the morning. The life guards are great , they always have time to talk and answer any questions you may have. The staff is out of this world. The place is a party place on the holidays. Everyone riding in golf carts always waves and sometimes even stops and chats. The pools and every other type of building are clean and well kept. I don't use the pools as I go to the beach to play in the ocean. I myself own a golf cart and enjoy riding around the site. The parties around me don't bother me cause I just ask if i can join them. I figure why not i'm on vacation also. I am planning another trip down there this August and we are going to try to get another concrete pad ocean side. It's kind of expensive but well worth it, just sitting under the awning and watching the golf carts go by and laughing at the antics of all the children. I myself like sitting out late into the night and watching the fireworks from the beach,(even though the banned on the beach). It's really a great place to go and relax. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The sites were a little tight to get in and out of because of the narrow roads. Overall it's a great place to stay. We felt the golf carts were not as bad as people say; we had no problems walking or bike riding. We were here during spring break. The beach is very nice. The indoor pool was crowded (it was cool outside - in the low 60's). The outdoor pool water was cold. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed our stay. The Easter morning church service was nice (probably 700 plus people attended). We rented a car and the rental shuttle passed through 2 of the other popular campgrounds and I felt Ocean Lakes was the better of the 3 commercial campgrounds. Also visited the state park and saw it was very dusty to camp there. Overall I would recommend this park versus any other one we saw in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were lucky enough to get a site with concrete pad right in front of the beach. What a view! The campground was large and very well run. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have it all, here: 2 pools, a rec center, playground, huge laundry facility, snack bar, and a general store and so much more. We camped here during a cold spell and when we woke up in the morning all of our water lines were frozen. Needless to say that there weren't very many other campers staying in the park. We did use the laundry facilities and the on-site parts and service department both of which were excellent. Our site was right on the beach and we were very impressed by the facilities. We camped here during the Christmas season. The bathrooms were spotless and the hot water was in excellent supply. The site we had was large and it was a pull-through site. I think most all the sites here are pull-through. In addition, most all the site I walked thru was very level and some included a concrete pad (extra cost). This site included water, sewer, and electricity. However, there was also a connection for a phone and cable. We did not use those two. The indoor pool was luke warm, but clean and well kept. I was well heated too. The outdoor pools looked to be in fine order too. The staffers here seem to be helpful and friendly. I must confess that they even had garbage pick up on Christmas day! I was so surprised. This campground has most anything a person could want. There was a 18 hole mini golf course, a camp store, a laundry mat, very good security, several lakes (ponds), 2 very nice playgrounds, shuffle board, horse shoe pits, about 14 beach access points, a church, a rec. hall, an arcade, fresh water (purified water free, bring your own jug), campfires allowed, pets welcomed, and there are other items too. Overall, one who enjoys a crowd would love this place in the summer time. Even now, in the winter people have flocked to this place. I would say that it was about 30% full. We are camping in December. Yes, they do have golf carts for rent and I think you can bring your (electric only) own too. According to their brochure, they have a zero tolerance policy concerning these carts. It says, on the 1st offence (underage driving, impaired driving, etc..) one’s golf cart is taken away. I wonder if they adhere to this. Wow, in the rec. hall they have a library (paperbacks mostly, free), they have bingo, parties, and a multitude of other activities. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground in the southern part of Myrtle Beach. We've been camping here for 20 years and feel like it's our second home. If you visit during the summer months it will be packed to capacity and very loud. Since our kids are grown we tend to visit in the spring and fall when it is still pretty full, but the noise level is greatly reduced. Very friendly staff. Clean, well run campground. You can reserve a specific site, and they are all pull through. Lots of activities. We've visited every campground in the Myrtle Beach area, and this is by far our favorite. We stayed labor day weekend and the rest of the week and must have been pretty close neighbors with the previous reviewer. They were also good neighbors although our dog probably did bark at theirs! This campground along with the other of the big three campgrounds in Myrtle Beach does rent golf carts and some people do complain. Try to sit back and watch the show and have a good laugh at the kids (mostly). This has been the culture of these campgrounds for longer than most of us have camped so I don't believe it will change because some don't enjoy it. We will definitely go back. We stayed here for 6 days after the Labor day holiday. Even being after the holiday, the park was very busy. We enjoyed our stay!! The sites are fairly close together, but we had great neighbors. We stayed on site 2082 (ocean site) which is a site without a concrete pad, but it was still great. We were about 1 minute from being on the beach (short walking distance). The beach access was great. Lots of places to enter the beach. The beach was clean, lots of nice people. I stayed here with my husband and 3 dogs. Lots of dogs stayed here, but all seemed well behaved and picked up after. My husband lost his wallet one day when we ate at the Sandy Meet n Eat and we didn't discover it until after we left the park to play putt-putt. I called the front desk and sure enough someone turned it in and we got it later that day fully intact. A lot of people have mentioned the golf carts here and there were a lot, especially on a Saturday night, but during the non-peak season it was tolerable. Only heard fireworks 2 nights briefly, but then nothing. So, if you want to stay here I suggest staying during the off-season when it's still busy, but overall great. We enjoyed our stay...people friendly... pleasant... Thanks! I also did laundry at Sandy Suds and paid $1.75 for washing and $.25 for 9 minutes of drying time. It was a pleasant experience, also. The only thing I think the park could improve on is allowing reservations online... not by email... so that the process of going there is easier. By the way we drove from Fort Worth, TX to stay there...21 hour drive! Had a great time in Myrtle Beach! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the third time we have been to ocean lakes. We just love it there. The beach is of course one of the most beautiful in the US. The CG is like a small town. It is amazingly well kept, and you never get the feeling it is huge - just homey. The staff is wonderful. Let me give you an example - they have a surf camp for teens. I had signud up my daighter over the phone prior to departure. When we arrived it turns out the person who accepted the reservation had made a mistake - the camp was over for the year. They honored their commitment and had the camp just for her! This CG has my strongest recommendation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots of activity and amenities such as minature golf, arcade, pool, etc. Lots of golf cart traffic and fireworks at night that last from 9-11:30 pm. We did have problems with the campsite which was located under a large tree with lots of birds. We could not open our awning or use our satellite. The bird droppings covered our rug, car and coach. There is very little to find wrong with this resort campground experience. Cable and free internet great. Brief disappointment this trip as we changed sites (not the problem) and way past 3PM before they moved a packed up unit to storage so we could get on reserved site. When domino effect started with people needing to get on our site, they got busy. We have stayed here in our MH and also rented space, which is pricey. Just can't beat all the amenities for all ages in our opinion. Our boys never leave the campground. This area of Myrtle is not great but my husband and I ventured out for dinner quite a bit too. This is, by far, the nicest campground we've stayed in. We visited in 2005 and liked it so much we decided to return this year; already have reservations for summer 2007 as well! Facilities are top notch: pools, game room, beach, restrooms were all great. Nice camp store and a few different snack bars were a bit overpriced but you can't beat the convenience. Ocean Lakes is a great resort. This was my second time visiting S.C. and my second stay at Ocean Lakes. The place is busy, but it is well maintained, well equipped, and the staff are very accommodating. Access to the beach is wonderful and there is plenty of room to spread out. Their pools are very nice as well. I have family and friends in Myrtle Beach so I plan on visiting annually. Ocean Lakes is one of my favorite resorts. It is like a small community. The only improvement that I would like to see, is a better WiFi set-up. They do offer a free WiFi area near their snack bar, however, I'd rather link up at my site. I have camped at this campground 7 times now. I have found it to be one of the best campgrounds in Myrtle Beach area for the money. I have read all the reviews on it and I find it to be a 9 out of 10 campground. YES it is crowded in the summer, yes there are lots of golf carts running around. Guess what? I have one! I find it is an easy way to travel around this campground. Getting from the store, to the beach, to the pool. Yes and I walk to some places also. My kids bike too. BUT I do like having the le to spell of the golf cart. I do see some kids riding them around and some are careless.. If you see them call security. They will take the carts in a minute from you or your family. I have a soon to be 16 year old and we heading back down to Ocean Lakes in the middle of July and he cant wait to be able to drive our cart around. You let him drive a car on the roads, you have to trust them to drive responsible on the golf cart. He would hate to have it taken away by security and then answer to me. BUT that seems to be most peoples biggest gripe. Other than that it is a large campground with tons of things to do. I love camping here as does my family. We camped with 12 other families over Easter. Talk about a fun trip we had one. We stayed in the 4000 section a we will during our summer trip. Plus I have reservations or Thanksgiving week already. I will go here as long as I can and I only hope my family enjoys it for as long as we all can together, life is short make the most of it. Stay here if you want your kids to have fun and yourself. If you want quiet please camp somewhere else. It is getting harder for me to get reservations as it is. Staff is great, as are the facilities. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We just came back from 5 nights at Ocean Lakes. The weather was perfect. The facilities are wonderful and well maintained. We have three children (5,7,13) and Ocean Lakes is a happening place. There are plenty of kids there during Spring break and there is plenty to keep them entertained. The facility is clean and safe. I saw no open display of beer. As for golf carts, they are available for rent, which is very nice, you must have a valid license. While we were there security was pulling drivers who appeared too young, and were revoking carts if a violation was found. Our family loves Ocean Lakes and can't wait to go back. But if you are looking for a quiet, desolate, adult community - this is not it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The campground is very nice during the day, but turned into the most chaotic place we have ever been after the sun went down. Mix hoards of teenagers, alcohol, golf carts, loud music, and fireworks and what do you get? Total Chaos!!! There were hoards of teenagers racing around on golf carts until all hours of night. There was also a steady stream of fireworks on the beach until about midnight. We paid for several days, but decided to leave bright and early after only a one night stay. We did get a refund for the unused days without any hassle. The person working the counter did not think there was a problem and said "its spring break what do you expect". This is a shame because this campground is a really nice place during the day. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed in Fifth Wheel for about 10 days in January. It was a great experience. The heated indoor pool was a treat during the winter months. It is a gated community with 24 hour security. The beach was lovely. Several people used golf carts but because it was winter there was no traffic so speak of. We attended some of the activities and found fellow campers to be friendly. Staff was helpful with any questions we asked. Our cocker spaniel loved it too. The phone at the site was bonus and allowed us to use our laptop on an as needed basis without running around to the wifi hotspot. The restrooms and showers were clean and trash was picked up daily at our site. Would recommend this campground to anyone during the winter months. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This place is our home away from home, literally. We have a camper that stays there year round, and we vacation there 4-5 times a year. I have two small children, and we are willing to drive the 12 hour drive for every long weekend and school vacation because of the park. Clean, quality amenities, friendly people, and tons to do is what keeps us coming back. Playgrounds, children's activities, gated community, and awesome swimming highlight this park. I would recommend it 100% to anyone. The only bad thing I can think to tell is that it can get crowded in the summer. If you are there peak season, you will need a golf cart. This campground fit our needs perfectly for the off-season. Although it has been described as a zoo in the summer, this resort campground was very quiet and non-crowded in January. We camped among the trees with a group of other Casita owners. We saw only a few golf carts, and they were being driven very responsibly by adults. Most of the people we saw were staying in large fifth-wheels that seemed to be stored year-round and pulled to the campsites by the campground personnel when the owners wanted them taken out of storage. No problem with that. Everything was very quiet and peaceful. They allowed our small group to use a room in the recreation hall for our meetings on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The facilities were very nice. Check-in was quick and friendly. Security was excellent; we felt very safe and the personnel seemed very friendly. There were lots of amenities that we just didn't use, but this is obviously a first-rate campground; just not our cup of tea in the summertime. There were no fireworks or any other inordinate noises. Although the park is well south of the main part of Myrtle Beach, there are attractions, like the Legends show, and many restaurants nearby. We felt the campsites were very adequate in size and separation, although everyone in our group had travel trailers of just 16 and 17 feet. Perhaps those with larger campers would disagree. We will definitely go back, but only in the off-season, which is our favorite time of year at the beach, anyway. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a wonderful campground. All of the facilities are top notch, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the new concrete pads (some of the sites) are great. We were there after Labor Day week-end, and there were quite a few empty sites. We really enjoyed staying on a beach front site (I-38), but it was a little windy, more so than when we stayed further off the beach, previously. Although this is a little larger campground than I normally like to stay at, it was a very pleasurable stay. I would return when in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Never miss the chance to stay here! This place is over the top in all aspects. The location is priceless, the sites are level and clean. Bath houses are numerous and all clean. The beach is fantastic. Then there is the kiddie water park and pools....oh this place is amazing! Security is around and do not intrude. We had to use their on-site RV repair company --- our refrigerator died! Within 1.5 hours of purchasing a new one, it was installed and running! Snack bar is great. WiFi hot spot is awesome. Nothing to frown at here! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had a wonderful vacation at Ocean lakes. Please do not expect peace and quiet. It is a resort campground in a resort city. Yes, the golf carts are numerous and quite bad in the evening hours. The ocean lifeguards, however, are not employees of Ocean lakes. Yes, they are whistle happy, for a reason - safety. One person drowned while we were there. It is the ocean, not a pool. As far as umbrellas and blankets on the beach, please note that it is unlawful to place umbrellas in front of the lifeguard chair and the rented chairs and umbrellas are the front row. If you do not rent, you need to go to the end of the row where there is plenty of room. We rented and found it an excellent option. We did have a group crowd our umbrella one day when there was plenty of room elsewhere. I think they wanted our shade! Ocean Lakes is a great place to stay while visiting Myrtle Beach. The prices at the on site stores and restaurants are very reasonable. The staff was always helpful and polite. The pool area is fun for all ages. We plan to return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is like a small city!! So if you don't like the hustle and bustle, lots of kids, fireworks, speeding golf carts, and a crowded beach, you should probably look elsewhere or come back during the off-season. We camped here in late September '04, and then it was actually a totally different place. Considering that at that time the average age of the clientel was probably approaching 70, it was a lot more laid back and relaxing. One problem with Ocean Lakes is that the week we were there, the golf cart numbers had reached a critical mass. It's funny...the people just seem to ride around and around with nowhere to go. Has the art of walking been totally lost. No wonder Americans are so fat. Riding a bicycle became almost impossible because of those fools, and walking our dog was no less a chore. During the week to the point where I decided I was not going to jump out of the way of a golf cart. Go ahead and hit me. Can you say "lawsuit"? And I was sure that if a bunch of kids hit me, then "Da-dee" in his fourty foot RV bus would surely pay me a large out of court settlement. Previous posters mentioned the "whistle-happy" lifeguards. Miss "God's Gift to Lifeguarding" whistled me twice for being in the water barely above my navel. I felt like inserting that whistle into a major orafice. There were no rip tides - that water was as gentle as it usually is at Myrtle. Give me a break. Also the jack-booted Umbrella Gestapo gave me a bunch of crap about setting up in front of their umbrellas. Most of them weren't even being used - probably because they were charging an arm and a leg. What a crock! I suppose that when you rented an umbrella and chair you were also renting three feet of beach in front of them. One other disturbing sight was seeing a member of Ocean Lakes finest - a security officer, downing several amber colored bottles of liquid refreshment. Maybe it was root beer. It was hard to miss as he was visiting friends in a site one row to the right of ours. Don't get me wrong, Ocean Lakes is a well run place with good facilities. But the only way I will return here again is if I am bring my 10 year old niece on vacation, or if I come during the off season. After this trip I need a couple weeks in a nice secluded, wooded campsite. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great campgrounds on the ocean. It has a little bit of everything so there's no need to leave although there's a lot of great site seeing to do. The campground has over 800 sites, 4 pool areas (1 inside pool, 1 wading pool, 1 kid splash area, 1 large pool). The new laundrymat is great because it's so big and we've never had a problem getting our laundry done. We've rented golf carts there during the spring when our sites are further away for the main hub area since rates are cheaper then as it's not peak season yet. There's a big store with gift area (clothes,shoes,souveniors,jewelry,candy)which always stocked. Great kids activities, nightly activies (music,games), nice observation deck facing ocean. It's got a few snack areas and a large game room. We've camped there during April which we prefer because it's not overloaded with kids and the rates are cheaper. Weather has been nice then too. Summers are pretty crowded and it's hot but never a bad experience at this campground. Also, there's lots of stores close by-supermarkets, restraunts, and a Super Walmart. It's a sure bet and we highly recommend. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice place. Facilities are well taken care of. Beach was wonderful. Definitely a family place though as there are kids everywhere cruising in their cars, golf carts, bikes and scooters. They got pretty noisey in the evening and a few were setting off fire works. Other than that we really enjoyed the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Oceanlakes in Myrtle Beach, SC has so many activities too list, such as two pools outside one olympic size and one for the kiddies with splash zones, indoor pool, putt putt, various beachfront playgrounds, golf cart rentals, arcade, snack bars, and many more. This place is appropriate for all ages from 2 to whatever, teens seem to love it the best, but my small kids have a blast as well. The best time to visit is from spring till late fall, but reservations are a must in the summer (about a year in advance). Very clean and always doing some type of improvement (this year was new camp store, deck with fire pit etc...). We stay here about 4 times a year. Also there are so many activities in Myrtle Beach it is great for a week or longer trip. (Though we rarely leave the park except to eat some seafood.) We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our second time. Our teens especially love it which means we love it. They are constantly on the go so we have lots of time for ourselves. New Meet and Eat place serves B, L and D. Grocery enlarged, Snack Shak at the beach and teen club too. Do your own laundry or they will do it for you for a price. Instant phone was great for internet access in RV. They also have it available in office. We were there for 9 nights over Spring Break and weather was wet, then dry, then wet, pretty windy so always makes it feel a bit cooler at the beach. Get a cement pad or bring outdoor mat, sites closest to the beach had some puddles at door. Good seafood and steak resturants nearby. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were looking to to do something different and selected Ocean Lakes based on their web site and reviews. Also I was able to book a ocean front site, something we have always wanted to do. This obviously a VERY popular place. The facility was fine but this was not what any of us expected. There were five us, my wife and I, two adult children and a teenager. The young kids riding golf carts are down right dangerous. The nightly fireworks left debris in my campsite every night so I was afraid to put out my awning for fear of getting holes burned it. The pools were packed and unless you got there very early it was no fun. There is almost NO beach at high tide and there is like a Berlin Wall where you are not permitted to even set up a chair without fear of getting yelled at by the 'Beach Police'. Also the Ocean Lakes is significantly South of Town, much further than we anticipated. On the positive side - the staff is VERY helpful and friendly and I was able to get assistance with a trailer mechanical problem from mechanics ON SITE. BIG PLUS. We ended up using our Ocean Front site as mearly a base of operations to hit Charleston, Medieval Times and Dolly Pardon's place (MUST SEE). If you are into golf carts and nightly fireworks - this is your place - if you want to be closer to town try the North Side or the KOA right in town. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here with our 2 children, ages 9 and 6. This park was like camping in a parking lot during a golf cart convention. The staff was nice, the emmenities plentiful, and the beach was nice and we enjoyed ourselves, but not nearly enough to ever return. It was very very crowded and everyone seemed to have their own golf cart. Teenagers zooming around in golf carts and electric scooters made for white knuckles every time I drove in our out of the campground. We were renting a camper at this campground so we were stuck here. On our 5th day we visited Huntington Beach State Park were we stayed on our first camping visit to Myrtle Beach. We even checked out the new campground. I never missed my own camper so much. I grew up camping so I've stayed in a lot of different campgrounds. If you like the "resort" scene and all that hustle and bustle, this is for you. If you're an in the woods, setup the site and sit back and watch the wildlife (not the 2 legged kind) then this is not your place. Check out Myrtle Beach State Park or Huntington Beach State Park. You'll be grateful you did. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful place it has everything here no need to ever go off the premises.Staff frendly and very helpful.They rent golf carts, bicycles have 4 pools 3 outdoors 1 really large i kids pool and 1 splash pool and 1 pool inside.They just have everything you could wont small walk to the ocean.Its just wonderful.The only thing be sure to ask for a concrete site when you make reservations because some site are sand so its sort of messy.Highly recommed this campground We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was the first Myrtle Beach park we stayed in and we'll never go back. While the park was generally clean, the spots reasonably large, and the staff was friendly, we found two major problems that convinced us never to return. First, unrelenting waves of golf carts racing around the campground made just walking our dogs hazardous. The management seemed not to care about the teenagers, and even many adults, racing up and down the lanes at speeds well above the limit. The second issue we had was the beach. It is extremely narrow. To make matters worse, the lifeguards are the most whistle-happy bunch I've ever seen. They won't let you put your blanket down even one foot in front of their stands, which means everyone must crowd onto a narrow strip of beach that virtually disappears at high tide. The only way I'd ever return to Ocean Lakes is if they banned golf carts and took away the life guards' whistles! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I have stayed here for 9 times. If there is a perfect campground, this is it. All of the
campsites are pull-through. The whole campground is like a mini-city. The staff is friendly and very willing to make your stay more enjoyable. My last stay had a faulty phone line. A repairman had it fixed in less than 30 minutes and they brought out a backhoe. The campground also offers activities year around. I also like that I can run 5 miles inside the campground. Everyone needs to experience this campground at least once! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We took our new 2004 27' Cherokee travel trailer to Ocean Lakes for our first "camping
experience" on the weekend after Labor Day 2003. The campground is huge and very clean. The staff was friendly & helpful. We requested a shady site close to the ocean and were very happy with the site we were given. We have a slide-out & awning and there was plenty of room for both. The streets were paved and we enjoyed riding our bikes there. They had daily trash pickup & and a propane truck that came to your site. There were little "lakes" throughout the grounds where you can fish, a big camp store, snack bars, rec room, very nice pool area. There was security patrolling the grounds, but our friends told us they have camped there for years and have never had a problem leaving their bikes out, etc. We felt like we had stepped back in time - it was a very nice, relaxing experience. There are plenty of stores and restaurants nearby too. There was a Walmart within a mile, where we picked up some camping things that we did not bring with us. We loved it there and are already planning for a return trip -- only longer this time! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
