This state park is located on the Edisto River, a popular canoeing and kayaking route. Many of the campers during my stay were using the river for recreation. The small campground has approximately 25 gravel sites on a single loop. No effort is made at dust suppression and since it was quite dry during my stay, the clouds kicked up by vehicles were a problem. Campsites are close together but fairly well shielded from adjacent sites by vegetation. There is marginal cell service. The park is located on state Highway 61 which is a direct route into Charleston, passing by the major plantations open to tourists along the Ashley River. The distance in to the city is about 30 miles – allow 45 minutes to an hour for the trip. We camped here in a Motorhome.
