A great boon docking park. Beautiful view of Bear Butte. Lots of birds, fairly level gravel sites with plenty of room and lots of grass. Some trees, but mostly open. Ducks and pelicans frequent the adjacent lake. Good AT&T wireless and air card signal, good TV reception on antenna. It was just us and the Camp Host on this early season date. Would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Good value with Passport America. Has large, grassy sites, a well maintained park with great internet and TV. We would definitely stay again. Park is closing for the season on 8/31/10. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Agree with prior review, good value with PA. CG is not a 10, but is very nice. Big open grass sites, TV and broadband were very good. Sturgis was a disappointment. Oasis on main is best bet for a cold one, others over priced and barely cool. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a gem this park is. The owner is the most hardworking, social, friendly, knowledgeable woman I think I've ever met. The price was Passport America, with no restrictions other than Sturgis rally week (and the week preceding). Huge property very well maintained. I'm not sure why anyone would pass this one by and go up the hill to a campground where the sites are so close together in the "off rally season". We nearly had this huge place to ourselves. We would absolutely, most definitely return here. I know this sounds like I may be a family member or owner of said property, but I truly am not, I am just a very happy customer who is delighted to be at a great campground for a reasonable price ~ no nickel and dime here, just an honest deal. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A no frills campground, but with everything you need. $17 rate was Passport with 50 Amp service. Owner was very friendly, took time to come by and introduce herself as she was elsewhere in the park when we arrived. Well maintained grassy area, no trees, good over the air TV service, Verizon works exceptionally well (tower directly across freeway), some freeway noise but not bothersome, train track nearby, but only one train came by during our stay. Great scenery all around. We'd stay here again, but not during the Sturgis Rally! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great no-frills campground with spacious pull-through sites for FHU (lots of 50a and 30a) 30a sites are cheaper, but all are FHU. $16/night is the weekly rate for PA before and after the Sturgis motorcycle rally. Rates go way up during rally week (like all camping rates in Sturgis and surrounding areas!). Rest rooms, showers, and laundry are clean but basic. We stayed for a month, and probably could have gotten a month rate if we had known we were staying that long. Great hosts, and well maintained grassy level sites in large open field. Near the interstate and really easy on-off, but not very noisy. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed there after the motorcycle rally. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Grounds were immaculate. The staff was in the process of installing Wi-Fi. For the price it cannot be beat. Hopefully more amenities later. Will be back in 2009 We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a Passport America member. Bulldog is a nice Quiet park near highway I-90 at exit 37. It has grassy, level, spots with good electric and water pressure. Close to many attractions, Sturgis, Spearfish Canyon, CrazyHorse, etc. Staff very friendly and helpful. This is a very nice no frills RV park. We stayed for 10 days and we will return! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice for overnight. Trees and grass which we like. Spaces seemed narrow with our three slides. Staff was very helpful. Stayed late to check us in and gave us directions in the morning. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park is open year round. Many of the facilities are limited or shut down in the winter. The office was closed and no one returned our telephone call. We paid by leaving a check in an envelope and dropping it in a mail slot. We only needed a good place to park a 36' rig with towed vehicle. We need a place for the night that would supply electricity. There were lots of large gravel pads with electricity available. There was one dog that a resident allowed to roam. The dog only bothered me on arrival. There was ample room for me to walk our dog on leash in the park. The park served our purposes well. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an above average RV park. They have many full sites as they are geared up for the Sturgis motorcycle rally each Aug. Almost the entire park is gravel but the spaces are nicely spaced. No side by side spaces that I noted. The Wi-Fi worked fine as we were fairly close to the office. Not too many trash cans-you have to walk to one central point. The park is right off the interstate. Convenient to get to, but you do get some noise during the day, but night should be no problem. Overall a good park to do the Black Hills area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the only CG we visited without first checking the reviews here. We had planned to stay in Custer SD, but temps there were dropping and we decided to just travel on. This is close to the interstate, but we didn't notice any noise. The camp hosts were exceptionally friendly and chose a site where they thought we would have the best WiFi reception. The washrooms and laundry rooms were spotlessly clean. Nice grassy area for dogwalking, but the RV sites were close to each other and not totally level. (We are small, so we usually do find level ground easily). We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good for a single night. A bit too much freeway noise. Office staff seemed more interested in selling gift items than informing me of the WiFi access, cable TV channel listings, location of the restrooms, providing a park layout sheet, etc. I would look for a quieter park next time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Huge park, that is adding another 45 full hookups. Gravel sites with a tree at most sites. Large grassy area for tents. Also has a beer garden that is set up during large events, such as the Sturgis Motorcycle rally in August. Close to freeways, so some noise exists, but not bad, and ebbs further back in the park. The advantage, is that you are 10 miles from Deadwood on one of the highways, and another goes to Spearfish, another to Rapid City, etc. When the wind comes up, there is nothing to block it, so it shakes the 5th pretty good. Had some trouble with wi-fi for a couple of days, but they got it fixed, and made their office site available during the down time. Folks are very friendly, and very accommodating. Our stay is for 6 days, and we would definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I came here in '03 on my m/c for the Black Hills Motorcycle Classic. It was an exciting place to stay for sure! Big, with places to eat nearly at all hours and lots of sites. At any other time of the year, it would be a great choice for a family with kids, but during this event it's an adults only atmoshere, mostly after dark though. The rowdyness and activities were awesome for the first 3 days, then fatigue set in and I couldn't sleep for the next 3 days from all the noise at night. I knew what I was getting in for here, so I don't blame the owners. Bikers are a fun loving bunch of late night partiers and they did a lot of it here. If it a good time you're looking for during the event, this is the place, or a great big campground that is nearest the famous little town of Stugis then again, this is it. The restrooms are community type so the line was long and the facilities got messy fast. It was a long walk to get to the individaul outhouses in a hurry too. So I opted the next 2 times at the Rally to stay as Custer, for the quiet setting and to be more centrally located to the very best of the riding loops that the Black Hills have to offer. My campground of choice is now Ft. Welikit in Custer on route 89. Not as big and without the big entertainment value that Glencoe offers, but a much better experience for my wife and I both times. I would pay to get into Glencoe with a daily visitor's pass to experience to fun though. We camped here in a Tent.

We camped during Sturgis Bike Week, the people were more than helpful (especially when we had to pick up a friends bike that was towed from an accident and we had no clue where it was). The food was great and the concerts an added bonus. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here the second Sunday in September and the park was fairly empty. I chose this park for the 50% PPA rate because the pool was still open, and because it hadn't been reviewed in 2 years. This is a somewhat unusual RV park. There are a variety of different sized cabins as well as RV sites. Of the 38 RV sites listed, only 15 appear to be for transients. The rest are back-ins (some next to the office and others uphill from the transient area). Most of these sites have an RV of some type in them but there was no sign of any occupants. For us travelers, there are 6 very long pull-through FHU sites and 9 double pull-through W&E sites. There is no cable TV but all sites appear to be satellite friendly. The free WI-Fi worked well for us (probably because there were only 3 other transient RVs in the park). There is a pool, a playground, expensive laundry facility, and (without getting detailed) unusual bathroom facilities spread over two buildings. For those who are bothered by traffic noise, the sound of the I90 traffic is noticeable and fairly constant. This park was OK for our situation, but I can't imagine what it would be like with 100 RV and cabin customers in the park. I am not certain that we would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I needed a place to stay and located this one on the Internet. I called ahead and they gave me better directions than my GPS did. Winter rates and only a couple other rigs there. The deer were all over. The hot tub was clean and really felt nice after the drive all day. A nice park in the winter, even in the snow. I will stay here again! We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This rate is for Passport America. Only stayed here because it was one of the few campgrounds still open. I gave it this rating only due to the close proximity to Deadwood and Sturgis. A lot of highway noise and very close to the railroad track. Very LOW water pressure. Pool was closed. Hot tub was not filtering properly, so did not use. This park is for sale, so don't know how long it will be here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Pool has no hours and folks seem to be careful about that. Some highway noise so those who prefer "ultra quiet" may wish to stay elsewhere. Staff friendly and very helpful. Things get done *now*. WiFi is included with camping fee (hurray, let's all ask for this at our fav camps). We camped here in a Motorhome.
Was working out of the R.V. on the internet at the time. Owner ran a DSL line out of his home to our R.V. in order to provide us with service. Bathrooms & shower's were clean, however water was hauled in by truck for the shower's and was in short supply. Rec. room consisted of a pool table and pinball machine in a converted barn. Railroad tracks were VERY close and a freight train came by several times a day. The freeway is also quite close; couldn't often leave the R.V. door open because of the noise. Was often very windy there and a hailstorm one evening broke out ALL of our roof vent's. Park is geared more for the motorcycle rallies in August and closes shortly after that. Would stay there again, but not for a month like before. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We camped here for the Sturgis rally, so the nightly rate is not accurate for the 2 weeks. The camp host did a great job and was very accommodating and helpful with any need. A very friendly atmosphere. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park has a limited number of motorhome sites but a large area for tents. Campground was clean & quiet. Had a very nice pool ,spa & laundry. Sites were gravel with grass on both sides. Room for slides but sites were close together--Only a few feet to your neighbor's utility hookups. A train track and I-90 are very close. The last train came by at 6:30 pm. Neither were a noise problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground, located a few miles from I-90, is in a beautiful, quiet setting. It’s extremely well kept with many amenities including a pool, hot tub, laundry, rec room, even sites with a private hot tub. There are several categories of camp sites. We stayed on a standard full hook up site, which was not level. These sites are also very close together. Since the park wasn’t crowded by the third week of August, we had no problem. However it would have been unacceptably tight if the park was full. The Passport America rate posted here is good for 4 days only, but this is not clear on either the campground or the P.A. websites. From this campground, you can easily visit central and northern Black Hills attractions. Check out the hiking path that starts right from the campground; we saw two beautiful mule deer during our hike. We really enjoyed this campground and would definitely stay here again, as long as it wasn’t peak season. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is in a quiet, country location but just 10 minutes from Sturgis. You can hike up into the Black Hills right out of the park and you're close to many Black Hills activities. The front section of the park has 63 RV sites about half of which are side-by-side. This is not too bad because the way the hookups are set up, it's only about the back half of your rig that's beside another. The sites are level but quite bumpy and uneven. There are also 16 cabins of varying size in the front portion of the park. There's a short drive to the back section of the park with another 30 or so FHU, RV sites, including some "luxury" sites that have concrete patios complete with gas grill, patio furniture and individual hot tubs. There are also numerous tent sites available. We stayed here in a big rig and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good points: easy access off I90, laundry, pool, office area nice, and friendly managers. Bad points: Area for parking rigs is not kept up. Very out of level sites with no attempts to correct. Even with the drought, attempts could have been made to keep the sites grass cut. Oh - and did I mention the flies?? Situated between horse farms makes the fly situation horrible especially on the first 2 rows of the park. We were parked on 1st row near sewer tanks. Could smell it & owner said they would be cleaned out the second day of our stay. They weren't. If owners would take care of the parking sites like they do with the rest of the park, would be a good place to stay. WIFi is very slow. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Can't say enough nice things about this park. All the staff is friendly and helpful. It has a great little social area where the Thursday night steak dinners are served. The owner gives you tips on the best restaurants and the most scenic rides. Extremely clean restrooms and showers. Cabins are available. It's in a quiet, peaceful setting just off the highway. Can't recall what Good Sam's rating was, but this park should be all 10's. Don't pass this park up. We will definitely go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is right off of I-90, but there is no road noise. The campsites are spacious, but offer little shade. We have one of the shaded lots, but it's not what I would call shady. I think for this area, it is though. The bathrooms are clean and plentiful. We did not use the pool or hot tub, but they looked very nice. The Wi-Fi signal was not as reliable as we'd like. I relied on the Verizon card a lot. AT&T cell reception does not exist in the park. It is a nice clean and quiet park. The office staff are helpful. The onsite laundry is great. We'd stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We loved this park. Its very convenient to town and Deadwood, in a lovely location. Wi-Fi was good, the staff was excellent. The restrooms were clean, as were the showers. They were laid back without being lax. The pool and playground were well maintained, as was the gameroom. They clearly take pride in the park, and we will certainly return. They also have a beer garden, which is a cool feature, and they're bike friendly during the rally! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Stayed here a couple of nights, in a 40' rig, while on a cross country trip, on our way to Seattle. Nice campground: long sites and big rig friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful in guiding us to sites we wanted to see while in the area. Very close to I-90. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Staying open all year is a bonus for a park this far north. The new owner was quite friendly. The park is one of many former KOA campgrounds. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for 9 nights and it was a great experience. Great staff and very helpful. Large sites for big rigs. Only problem is sites seem level but tend to slope to the front. They came to my site and place a large board under the jacks to make level. No more problems. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean and comfortable. Hosts were friendly and informative. They helped with local hikes. Restrooms immaculate. Absolutely would stay again when traveling through Sturgis. No road noise. Park like setting with trees and open spaces. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful, quiet campground 1 mile off interstate. Most others we saw were right on the roads. Stayed in the upper campground to be level. No one else was here Labor Day weekend. Short walk to lower campground and amenities was worth the beauty. Got 2 or 3 channels over the air. Good WiFi. Wide variety of sites from tents to concrete pads with bar-b-que and hot tub. Great hosts. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Site are almost level, but with my 45' my front step was left about 18" in the air. I also got a lecture about my dog even though the RV behind me, that had 2 little dogs, barked all the time. Came here after Sturgis Bike Rally, as I am not into bikes. Would I come back to this campground? Doubt it. Would I come back to Sturgis? No. Saw it all in less than 2 hours. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is not a "10" as others have stated. The sites need lots of leveling, picnic tables need some TLC and the office staff needs to work on customer relations. When park is full (which it was for one night), trailers are packed in like sardines with a shared water connection in the pull-through sites so you look at your neighbor's front door. After the initial blunt welcome as an office worker wondered, "Whose dogs are those?!" When my husband walked them for a break, he did then take the time to find us a better site. We were then given a lecture about dogs. Pool was clean and the laundry was too. If it wasn't for a family reunion that took over the park, it would have been better. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Scenic, peaceful, clean, and super friendly. Upper level sites are larger and more campground than RV park. Planned to stay 2 nights, stayed 4. Rate is Passport America. Would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Friends drove around the Sturgis area and chose this park for us. Boy, did they do great! It was green and lovely and quiet. It is away from the freeway. Please note that this was not Rally time, so the park was fairly empty. It was a great park to walk our dog. This place is huge, but is in sections so you don't feel like you're in one of the monster parks. Lots of good walking paths and grassy areas. The pool looked nice, but we didn't use it. Good play area for little ones. Very clean laundry and game area. The steak dinner was a great get together. We would definitely come back and recommend the park to all. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were the only visitors to this park for a four-day stay in fairly cold weather with snow. Friendly hosts, easy to access sites with good hookups. The gravel sites were not very level, and although there's no cable or broadcast TV, the Wi-Fi worked well. Verizon air card and cell service were good. Rate reflected $5/day extra charge for 50A service. We'd stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park with a great diversity of sites: trees and open spaces. We stayed in a nice long, pull-through site #22 in the open area to insure a strong DirecTV satellite signal. Good interior road gravel and plenty of grass and space between sites. Enjoyed 50amp service with good water and sewer hook-ups. Also had Wi-Fi but no cable TV. The Verizon air-card worked, however the AT&T cel phone, and Sprint air-card had poor or no service. Restrooms were clean. We had good service and the price reflects a Good Sam discount. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
All I can say is "wow". The nicest campground in the Black Hills! Staff and owner are super friendly & nice. They go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. There is no cable TV, but I don't go camping to watch TV. Grounds, shower houses, pool are very, very nice & clean. Great location to Sturgis, Rapid City and "the gulch" (Deadwood). Reasonable rates, great location, wi-fi works great, clean everything, wonderful staff. What more can you ask for? I found my gem of a campground in "the hills". I could live here! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We had a wonderful week long stay here in 2008. It is a very quiet and peaceful campground well away from the highway. When we were there, the road in was good but gravel. I see that it is now asphalt. That will be real nice. We enjoyed the pool. The rest rooms and showers were kept clean. We used the laundry facilities early in the day and they were not busy. One night during the week they have a steak night and grill steaks. We had other plans and missed it but our neighbor said it was GREAT. If in the area again, we will definitely stay there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The previous owners are still here til Oct. of 08 and are great. My husband and I loved the Thursday night steak nights. The hill up in the backside was a little muddy but great Wi-Fi and TV service with no problems. We would definitely stay here again. We actually stayed for one month. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The scenery is beautiful. However, their Wi-Fi service was not working, and some sites were muddy. We opted not to stay at all because their site & Passport America's site both say that they don't honor PA during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which is the first week of Aug. They told us that they don't honor the month of July either...which is not stated on anything published. When we told them what was on the site, they said they were under new management and not happy with how PA was being handled. We went back to Sturgis to the Day's End RV park, which had Wi-Fi and cable and was $23. per night with Good Sam. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice, quiet park. Stayed in the back (canyon) area. Nice sites in beautiful setting. Water pressure was very low at times, Wi-Fi very slow probably due to bandwidth on their Satellite hookup. Nice open indoor refreshment area with lite adult beverages available near office to rest, relax across from small pool. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is Passport America, however, they just changed owners and only accept three days with a 50% discount. They also have other discounts such as Good Sam, AAA, etc, which are applicable for only three days also. We were in the back section which was opened two years ago. It is gravel and many of the site were steeply terraced. Some RVs literally could not get into the terraced sites. Be aware of what site you will be placed in. The grass was not mowed in the for the two weeks we were there (and we requested they mow since the ticks were pretty bad during out stay). Wi-Fi was strong. Bathrooms were clean. Weekly BBQs cost $8.50 and you must provide a side dish. Pool and hot tub were OK. We would stay here again but only if we were in the front section which is side-by-side hookups on grass. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park, very nice people, they have a remote area at the rear of park, very private, away from all the activities We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
PA rate. Unfortunately, it was cold, raining and very foggy, making it difficult to find this out of the way, on a dirt road camp ground. Ground was very wet. Parked us in "squishy" grass for 3 nights even tho there were some gravel sites avail. Friendly staff. WiFi was intermittent. No trees. Nice laundry facility. We visited the area and this was an okay campground for that. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I really liked this park. This was my first time here. It was quiet, relaxing and everyone there, including the guests were very delightful. People went out of their way to please my wife and I. I was pleased with the Internet connection also. I will return. Thanks to RV park reviews for steering me to the right campgrounds. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We loved this campground, especially for the price (Passport America price). The owners are very friendly; there is "steak night" every Thursday night, which is a big hit both with guests and, apparently, locals. They also had a cookout for Labor Day while we were here. "Pet Friendly" means there are quite a few dogs running around, which can be somewhat noisy and when we were here (over Labor Day weekend) there were lots of children. But by and large the campground was quiet and very nice. We had good satellite internet service (although there are clearly sites that would not be true for) and our Verizon cell phones worked fine. We would definitely stay here again, but it is a long haul to the sights around Custer and the southern end of the Black Hills National Forest. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great owners operating this park. No problems extending our stay. Opted for the newer section which was secluded and surrounded by great scenery. Had cellular, air-card computer and satellite TV reception, full hook-ups, beautiful location and quiet: all for $22/night! Understand ALL area parks get crazy during the Sturgis rally, however at 1 month previous, we had plenty of elbow-room and decided to base-camp here to tour entire corner of the state. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a great park. We were in a tent with our two dogs. Warm, welcoming, clean, made me want to go back and get my MH and come back for a few weeks. Convenient base to explore the surrounding area. Another nice feature they had was a bar where you could either buy their beer, draft or bottle, or you were more than welcome to bring your own libation and just join in. We camped here in a Tent.
Well worth the Passport America fee and certainly much more. Extremely friendly and helpful owners and staff. Wifi worked fine. Pool a little small. Very nice laundry, patio, and bar with joining in, encouraged. Very grassy and quiet. Would love to stay again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Even if we had paid full price instead of the $13. 13 Passport America rate, this would be a great park. The only down side is that most of the park is on a slope, so it was very difficult to level the rig. Several rigs had tires off the ground to get level. Beautiful facilities, $1/day WiFi that works all the way to the edge of the park, very friendly staff, big sites. Most are side by side, so you are close to the neighbor on one side, but you have probably 30 feet on the other. Large, well maintained, treed grounds, but no trees around 90% of the sites, so it is satellite friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Friendliest managers around. The managers bend over backwards to please their guests. We had a family reunion here. Everyone loved it. Very nice covered pavilion to rent with refrigerators and cooking facilities. Great for the big group. Excellent cabins with linens provided, some with kitchenettes. Some cell phones have trouble with reception. Not far from the highway, but with a hill between you don't hear it readily. We stayed at the monthly Passport America rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If this place had a fenced dog park, it would be ideal. It is one of the friendliest, most pleasant places we've stayed, and with Passport America, cheapest at that! People are great, place is beautiful, and the horses with their foals across the road were a lovely sight every day. All facilities were excellent. Satellite internet worked great. (Recently added cell phone access for Verizon only.) We camped here in a Motorhome.
We think this is a great RV park. We spent 3 months here in 2005 and came back to spend the summer in 2006. The campground has over 50 sites, some grass some gravel. We met and made a lot of friends here, most came for a couple of days and stayed a month or two. It is qiute, convenient. and relaxing. Roger and Diana (host/owners) are great folks that will make you welcome and comfortable. Deer, turkey, and elk frequent the campground. The nightly rate posted is Passport America. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Passport park so our actual rate was $12.50 - We stayed for a week and the Passport rate was used for entire stay. A very nice campground. Wireless internet is available for a small fee of $1 a day or $5 for the week. Located 5 miles outside of Sturgis, it is very peaceful and quiet. The only downside for us was the lack of any phone service. You must leave the park and drive closer to Interstate 90 to get a signal. Some of the sites are close together, but there are many sites that offer more room. Plenty of room for our 36' motorhome. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice campground. It has trees around it, but only small ones in the campground (very satellite internet friendly). We stayed here for a week and enjoyed ourselves. All of the campsites are on grass. They are generally long (50-70) feet, but many are a bit narrow. With slides out, two rigs parked next to each other feel like they are "shoulder-to-shoulder". Utilities all worked well, but they only had one water spigot for every two sites. Owners are friendly and helpful. We stayed here for half-price with Passport America. Great deal! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The Best Park in our opinion. The rate is a weekly rate, we stayed 1 week and enjoyed it so much we stayed a second. Up on the terrace the view of Sturgis at night is beautiful. Great managers and hosts answered questions and helped with directions. We stall tell all our friends about it and recommend to everyone. We must say the best weather to be in this time of the year. Close to all the area's sights and easy to get to shopping. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great Park . Owners very helpful . We lost part of our awning on the way to site. Park owners helped remove what was left of the awning . When we were getting ready to leave , one stabilizer would not retract. They came to our aid again . Will stay there next time we are through South Dakota We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the best view, above Sturgis, surrounded by mountains. Campsites are gravel and dirt/clay mixture, quite messy, otherwise I would have given them a 10. Sites are large, plenty of room for toad. Sturgis is a quiet little town when not hosting the big rally. Very convenient to I-90 even for an overnight. Campground is now named Sturgis Campground and they do honor Passport for 2 nights, with some restrictions. Would definitely return! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for 3 nights under Passport America and then extended to one week for $100. Great place. Modern laundry, level sites, very good WiFi, nice managers, wonderful places to visit like Rushmore, Crazy Horse and much more. Great little local restaurants. We would definitely go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice roomy park on a big gravel area. Price reflects weekly rate. 3 sewer connections in each site to accommodate any RV location. Laundry rooms in each of the restrooms. Park is on woodland not 2nd. Look at the hill north side of town and you will see it. Went to Deadwood and Lead while here. Also take the Spearfish canyon drive. Fall colors were coming on and waterfalls to see. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate is Passport America. Large gravel lot with level sites. Good Wi-Fi, close to town. Not far from the interstate. Good place to stay. I'd do it again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is 2 blocks from downtown Sturgis, close to grocery, entertainment, post office, Pamida, etc. We stayed 9 nights 1 week after the rally. Essentially just large gravel parking lot but nice level spaces, ease of in-out and hook-ups. Price for 1 week is $100.00 and we used Passport America for remaining 2 days as it was great point to sight see all through the Black Hills. Restroom and laundry were like new, very clean; and the customer service was outstanding. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Price reflects weekly rate. Yes, this is basically a gravel parking lot to look at but staff is great and facilities more than adequate. Wi-Fi works well. Walking path across the street goes into a well maintained park. A good grocery store in within walking distance. Not a lot of lighting which would interrupt sleep. We were here over the Fourth of July and thoroughly enjoyed the firework display as viewed from their upper level. Only drawback at the moment is the landslide that covered roadway to upper levels. This was cleared up and being worked on during our stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a clean, well maintained park. It has a wonderful view of downtown Sturgis from the upper levels, which we had no problem navigating with our big rig. You can walk out of the park onto a city maintained path of over 10 miles, through parks and along the river. But, the best feature at the park are the managers. It doesn't matter how wonderful a park is, if you are not treated well, it loses it's luster. The managers make you feel as if you are at a 5 star hotel. They cater to all needs, and go above beyond in all instances. Would recommend this park as a base camp for anyone going to the Black Hills. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The nightly rate reflects the weekly rate divided by 5 nights. Mt. Rodney advertises itself as a luxury coach resort. Hmmm, me thinks something is amiss here. We did stay for 5 nights because this was our base camp for Spearfish, Deadwood, and of course, Sturgis. They must have very good legal representation because there are open digging sites with huge holes, open man-hole covers (none of this marked), and electrical cords strung across sites without any obvious work being performed. Be careful if you walk the park at night! Good features: this park is located across from a nice field of trees and green lawn bordering a river, and a nice river walk leading to a city park. The hosts are kind but didn't know the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Relatively new RV park with full hook-up big rig sites. No worries about length of your rig; picnic tables at all sites. Beautiful view from upper levels of park. Clean & well kept restroom/shower/laundry area. Friendly, helpful staff, great rates, central area for many attractions. Will definitely return when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the all around nicest parks we've stayed in throughout our many years of traveling. Air conditioned restrooms, shower and laundry area are exceptionally clean which is definitely a great big PLUS with us. Picnic tables at each site along with 20/30/50 amp service. The upper 2 levels afford a fantastic view of Sturgis and the Black Hills as well as wildlife very close to our rig. Has very courteous and helpful staff. We will definitely stay at Mt. Rodney RV Park when we're in the area again! A delightful experience and also close to many of the areas attractions. If you're here on the 4th of July, be sure to watch the fireworks from the upper level: awesome!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This RV park is located at the foot of a hill, overlooking downtown Sturgis. The sites are level gravel pull-thrus with full hook-ups (50 amp too)at each site. Each site has a picnic table and a grassy area. On the evening of our arrival there were very few campers and deer were grazing on the grounds. It is a short 1/2 mile walk to the restaurants, etc. The CG is very quiet and immaculate. The showers were locked as was the laundry room, so I was not able to view them. The dry gulch in front of the CG can be a rattlesnake hide away, so do not go walking in it. (I was warned by a local of this). During the motorcycle rally week in early August, the weekly rate is $850 and up. However, if you are travelling and want a nice spot to stay for a day or more at any other time, this is a great CG. It is brand new, so I hear. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed two weeks. Would stay again. Located about 15 miles from Deadwood/Lead and from Spearfish. Very open no shade. New. Part of the park is on a hillside and would give a lovely view. They had had a lot of rain the week before so no one was on the hill. Park was empty. The most vehicles at one time was less than ten. Showers and Restrooms were clean but the women's shower water was not hot. Sites were gravel with grass patios. We camped here in a Motorhome.
New park (2006) with gravel roads & sites and grassy around sites. This park has a friendly staff and wide open view of Sturgis which is just a 5 minute walk. Rates are higher for motorcycle rally. The main level is flat with a few wild deer visits in the late afternoon. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One week for just $100 + tax ($25 nightly). (Rally week prices are very high, one way to keep overzealous partyers away I guess) Large, level, full hookup, pull thrus. Friendly managers/campground hosts. Grounds are dirt, packed rock (one section has grass, but that area was closed to campers at this time. Drawbacks to campground are no shade and no pool to keep cool in hot summer sun. Pluses are proximity to so many destinations (Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, Rapid City, Black Hills, Devils Tower, etc). Restrooms and showers are very clean. Oddity is laundry in bathrooms, some units in mens and some in womens - so much for asking the spouse to transfer from washer to dryer... We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is all gravel but pretty level. The hookups were in the proper place and worked fine. The price of $16 per day is for a 1 week stay. Facilities were clean and park was very comfortable and quiet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a pleasant park to stay in while visiting the nearby sights. The thing that really bothered us was that you have to walk or drive around and select your own site. The office will not assign you one. Then you go back to the office and tell them what you have selected. Not knowing anything about the park, we picked the wrong site. We were too near the office. Next time we'll get farther away. The worker in the office was very friendly. Due to its proximity to town we will probably stay here again. The weekly rate is actually very reasonable. It appears there is security here during the rally but not the rest of the year. As previously stated, everything is gravel but no trouble leveling. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The price reflects the Passport America rate. This place is a treat ; the managers are VERY friendly. In fact, it says, "The friendliest RV park in South Dakota" on their receipt, and I would have to say that is right on! The showers/bathrooms/laundry facilities are very nice, super clean, and designed to be able to handle a lot of people (obvious that they planned for that for the motorcycle rally). Sites are level; all good gravel sites and roads. We will DEFINITELY return here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park is the closet park to downtown Sturgis. It is walking distance for the few blocks to main street, the largest town grocery store, restaurants, etc. During the August motorcycle rally, this would be the premier place to stay to be right in the middle of everything going on in downtown Sturgis. The price paid in this review reflects the $108 (including tax) rate for a one week, 7 day stay. As with ALL RV parks in the area, the prices jump during the annual rally. The parking sites are level gravel, have plenty of length, and have three different locations for sewer hook-up. There is no grass available for walking your dog but there is a grassy field across the street within a few hundred feet. The RV park is quiet and well maintained. The bathrooms are large and spotless with separate toilet rooms that have locking doors for privacy. The showers are large and have a separate dressing area in the front. Plenty of hot water. Both the men and women's bathrooms have laundry equipment. The office has a small amount of RV supplies for sale. The RV park is on the side of a hill that overlooks Sturgis. There are upper and lower areas for RV's to park. The park Wi-Fi was fantastic. Probably the fastest that we have used anywhere. When we stayed the park was only about 10% full so the Wi-Fi may not be as fast as it may be when the park has more visitors. Our crank-up antenna was able to receive the ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS stations from Rapid City, SD. There is so much to do in the Black Hills that this park provided us with a great base to go on daily trips to Rushmore, Custer State park, Deadwood, Devil's Towers etc. We will definitely stay here again and are already making plans for a return visit in the future. The park is seasonal and will be closing at the end of September for the Winter. We camped here in a Motorhome.
FORMELY MTN. JACKSON RV PARK!!! GREAT LOCATION IN THE BLACK HILLS!!! Mangers are super helpful. We stayed here in a 38' motorhome and the price reflects Weekly Rate of $100+ tax. Sites were level. We stayed here two weeks and saw a lot of the Black Hills, Devils Tower and the Badlands. The electricity was good, AT&T cell service was good, Verizon air card was good, campground furnished Wi-Fi was good, the restrooms were clean and there were laundry facilities in both men and ladies restroom area, closest Wal-Mart was about 18 miles, local grocery store 1 block from park entrance. Will definitely be returning. It is a great spot for visiting the area attraction as well as attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally held each year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
