Entry into this campground is rather abrupt on the end of a river bridge (good thing I flew Goggle Earth to know that). Nice, clean grounds, very nice concrete pad and full hookup areas. Nice office/store on grounds and staff very friendly. Sites are a little close, gives the feel of a trailer park, but worked well as a base camp. Stayed 3 nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautifully kept campground but sites are very close together. Stream is on the other side of a well traveled road. Owners were helpful, they parked our 33 ft travel trailer due to how close the sites were. Would check out other campgrounds in this town before staying here again. Even if it is clean and well maintained I prefer space over cute decorations. Rather steep rates for what we had there. Stayed 3 days We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is not a bad park but I rated low because it almost floods in the center part when it rains. We were lucky to be in between the two "lakes" that formed when it rained really heavy. One side drained quickly after the rain stopped but the other side did not and stayed muddy for days. There is no cell phone service but that is not their fault. The locked gate as we understood it was you can get out at any time, but returning after midnight you park at the office and walk to your site. Would be a problem for handicapped people, like me, luckily we are usually in before midnight. Would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice family owned park for family camping. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a higher rating is the bathhouse/restroom. Poor design, due to no windows to let in the light they put in full glass doors with a fence with 3/4' slots, to keep people from looking in. If one is naked and someone looks through the glass or fence, it is show time! Not a well thought out design. I would enlarge it and make it right. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have used this campground many times and have never had one problem! I would like to comment on the closing of the gates at midnight that was stated in an earlier post. I had an emergency and had to get out at 2am. I had no problem getting out or getting back in at 4am. You just have to have your pass code. They do not shut the place down: there are just measures in place that keep people from coming in at all hours of the night! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is my first trip to this park and we really enjoy it The owner are friendly and very accommodating and the park is pet friendly. Campground is laid out nicely for a 40 ft.MH and had plenty of room, trees not a problem. Give it a try, we liked it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is definitely a mixed review park and you must read to see if the negatives apply to you. We made a long stay here because the sites were the best around or we would have left after one night. The park is relatively quiet and it's close to Cade's Cove which was our primary objective. This is a park located in a no cell phone service area. I mean zero bars all the time. Here comes the biggest disappointment for us. They literally lock the place up from midnight to 7:00 a.m. You can't get out of the place. If you had a health emergency you can't get out. What kind of lunacy is that? We wanted to bird and watch other wildlife. Cade's Cove was a 20 minute drive away and we couldn't get there in the early morning as needed because we were held hostage at the campground. We had no idea about this until we were completely set up and left the campground and saw the sign. We talked to the owners and asked about this and they refused to understand. We checked other campgrounds and couldn't get the same spot for the whole time we were there. In fact, it would have taken three moves and we would have no place at all over the July 4th weekend. If this isn't an issue for you then you'll like this place. We wouldn't stay here again, however. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is my third trip to this park and we obviously enjoy it every time, hence the reason for the returns. I have never stayed at any of the other parks in Townsend since I have driven through most of them and they all seem like you could jump from one RV to the other, and barely get your slides out, without popping your neighbor a time or 2. Big Meadow easily has the most room in the area including Pigeon Forge (won't go back there) and Gatlinburg and its way more peaceful too. The owners were super friendly once again and very accommodating if you had a certain area of sites that you liked. My father and I had a golf tournament that we played in and needed 2 more golfers to complete our team. They went the extra mile and created, and printed us out a sheet requesting for some golfers and posted it around the park. Lastly, the access to the Little River and tubing is outstanding. My father and I went down it three times and had a blast. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We had a great experience at this campground. The owners were very nice and it is a very pet friendly park. The location is very convenient to both Cades Cove and Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. They also have a great playground for kids. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park. Close to Great Smokey Mtn NP. Sites were level, wide and clean. Would have rated this park higher, except for price. This way too expensive of a park. As a result, we stayed only one night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Campground is laid out nicely for big rigs 40 ft.MH and had plenty of room, trees not a problem. Pet friendly. Check in was very efficient. Wi-Fi was weak many times but does work. Beats the chaos in Gatlinburg and Pigeonford. 20 min. to Cades Cove. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The campground is well maintained. Owners and the staff are friendly and helpful. We had a little trouble with the Wi-fi but, they got it up and running quickly. There is even a workout room, with the basics. However, I would recommend using the walkway in Townsend. It goes the full length of the town. River use is just across the street (tubing and fishing). There are so many things that you are close to from this campground. Security is good and we had a great feeling here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very neat and well kept park with a great staff and owners that live on site. Great location in a peaceful valley. Look forward to returning again for some R&R. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a hard one – the campground is extremely neat and clean and seems to have reasonable rules. I reserved a site here partially based on the pet restrictions this park has (I do not have pets myself and like to relax in peace away from constantly barking dogs). When I got to the campground, unhooked and set up my fifth wheel I heard constant barking dogs from a nearby Motor home. After I finished setting up I went to the office to complain about the dogs barking, the campground owner asked me where the barking was coming from and she walked to the back door to look, I pointed out the motor home where the barking was coming from and she said oh, that’s “so and so” and those are show dogs. I inquired about their rule about not allowing campers to leave pets unattended. She stated that the dogs I was complaining about didn’t usually bark other than when the owners returned and that their rules only prohibited campers from leaving their dogs unattended outside, inside the camper was OK. I then told her that I would appreciate it if she cold do something about the dogs, she then told me “don’t worry, if you complain again I will give you a refund and ask you to leave”. I said OK and decided to tough it out (knowing well that it would be near impossible to get a site in this area for a full week without reservations). The next day the owners of the motor home had their dogs outside the camper in a pen, there were 8 dogs in the motor home (they were not disturbing anyone while outside though). I felt as though I had received very poor customer service from the owner when they said that they would ask me to leave if I complained again. Well the week went by and I put up with the dogs (they weren’t all that bad, I was gone during the day time each day). Then, on Friday evening I had some bad luck and was involved in a Fatal motor accident where two people were killed, I suffered only an knee injury and bruises. I needed to leave two days early to get back home as soon as possible, so I went to the office to request a refund for the two unused days, the owner said no problem (she had heard about the accident) and said she would be happy to issue me credit towards future stays (I realize this is common), I told her that credit would not benefit me any because I did not plan on returning here because I did not like to listen to barking dogs all the time. This is where it turned very ugly, (from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh), the campground owner got very rude and told me that she could not control everyone’s pets, and that “NEXT, YOU WILL BE BLAMING YOUR MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ON ME AS WELL”. I could not believe what I was hearing, this was the rudest comment that I had ever received from another human in my whole life. I then knew that I was not dealing with a reasonable person, and I just walked away. By the time I had gotten back to my car (slower than usual because I was on crutches) the other owner (I assume was her husband) came out to my car and asked me to come back in and he would make it right, I told him I would have my wife come back in a few minutes and take care of it. In the end, the campground did what was right but this is NOT at all about money. This is a very nice campground but if you do have a problem and end up dealing with the person I dealt with be prepared to receive the worst customer service on this planet! I am not recommending that anyone avoid this campground – just this person. Just an FYI – the folks that did cause the accident that I got injured in was an older couple on a Goldwing Trike from Ocala Florida – the were riding in front of me when they lost control of the Trike going north on highway 129. When they lost control, they collided with an SUV towing a boat, sadly they were both killed instantly. I was injured when the trike they were riding was thrown back into my lane leaving me no place to go but hit it. I had slowed significantly but not enough – I hit the Trike and went over the front end of my bike and landed in the ditch – my knee is banged up but I will heal. The others will not. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I originally booked this several months ago because I had a discount of 20 percent off that I had gotten from attending an RV show that "Big Meadow" had a booth at. When I received the discount, I noticed that it was not to be used on "Holiday weekends" which obviously makes sense to me. The 4th of July fell on a Wednesday, so I thought I would ask if I could use the discount and without hesitation was told that I could, which right off the bat was very cool in my book. I started to wonder about some of the other campgrounds in the area as my vacation time neared because Big Meadow doesn't have a swimming pool as some of the others in Townsend do. I called the KOA of Townsend, (formerly Little River Village), and was put on a list to get a river front site, if someone cancelled. They called on several occasions when one came available and each time I said "no". I felt like I should give Big Meadow a chance since they were going to let me use the discount. Arrival time came and I was very pleased. The Johnson's were as friendly as it gets and told my girlfriend and I about different area attractions like the "Y" swimming hole and good restaurants in Townsend. Those of you who read this, check out the "Y", its about 2 miles into the National park on the left, you will see the cars parked there. Great place to take a dip and the water is nice and cold to give you a super jolt to get your blood flowing!!! Also, they have a tubing place right next door, so you can get into the Little River right beside the campground. With all of this water stuff, I forgot all about a swimming pool, so it was no big deal. Now, of course I did have to drive through and see the KOA and I can honestly say I was glad that I didn't go there. The sites looked so close together, I am sure you could stick your head out your window and hug your neighbor, (if you wanted to, and I surely didn't want to do this). At Big Meadow, I had one of their sites over looking the River and my only real issue was the locals drove up and down the road that separates the grounds from the River like Indy car drivers. Cops could fund their retirement if they watched this supposed 25 mile an hour road. We walked around the whole park and the super sites in the back and on the side were huge. I will get one of these next time, they were so spacious and seemed very peaceful. No doubt I will stay here again, great place and again the Johnson's were super friendly!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful park/resort. The owners were the most helpful of any we have ever encountered. The grounds were super clean ( I even saw the owner cruise by in his golf cart and stop to pick a cigarette butt up). The sites are wide which is a plus in my book. We will be sure to stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We love Big Meadow. We camp here often. Staff is friendly, sites are nice size, facilities are always clean and tidy. Nice relaxing cg. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Staff was friendly, helpful and informative. We had a super site #16. We had wi-fi right at our motorhome. Very clean and well taken care of. We noticed that at 6 am the owners were up and cleaning the office, laundry and bathrooms. We will definitely be back at this campground again. We met several people that have been coming here for years. That says a lot as to what kind of campground this is. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park with a mostly friendly staff. The roads are gravel and the turns are tight but the premium sites are over-sized concrete pads...very nice. They claim to offer free wi-fi at your site but that is simply NOT TRUE. The wi-fi only works at their office. And they take their rules VERY seriously, they have a lot of them and a violation can result in an eviction without refund. We mistakenly broke two rules and were severely scolded for our bad behavior. NO ALCHOHOL OUTSIDE YOUR RV. Can you believe that rule? One of the owners rides around in his golf cart like the Gestapo looking for violations. If we ever return to the area, I think we'll stay somewhere else.. maybe some place with a pool.. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Really hot so it will be great when the trees are fully mature. Very pretty, near river, incredibly clean. All staff very nice and helpful. They have free wifi but it is currently only accessible near the office. Also, if you have Cingular cell service, it will not work at this camp! I stayed for a month and would definately come back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We have camped at Big Meadows several times in the past few years. The owners have always been extremely helpful and nice. It is a well maintained campground and the restrooms are always clean. Every Thanksgiving they have a dinner. They provide the ham and turkey and the campers provide the rest. They have planted trees but they will take time to grow. We camp with dogs and have never had a problem at this campground. We will definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I just read the reviews for Big Meadows and I can't believe what I read. My wife and I stayed at the campground for 4 months starting July 9, 2005 and we both agreed that the campground, area, facilities and especially the service deserve high marks. This hard working family were always courteous and helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. I don't understand why certain reviewers were upset about the campground rules. As far as I am concerned, all campgrounds must have rules and they generally are very similar. A campground without rules or with minimal rules wouldn't have many repeat campers. We camped here in a Motorhome.

During one of our past visits to this area, my husband and I toured several campgrounds, and initially Big Meadow was our second choice because our first choice was more scenic. Well, we stayed in the first choice last time, it was scenic, but it didn't have 50 amp service, WI-FI, a cell phone signal, and premium pull through sites with concrete pads for the motor home and patio. And the staff at the first choice were unfriendly and acted as though it was a supreme effort to respond to a question, much less a request. Big Meadow is so much better! The owners are friendly and efficient, and the campground is clean and well maintained. The premium sites are excellent for motor homes and big fifth wheels. The rules are clearly presented, and they are based on common sense and courtesy, not something silly. The campground is close to the Smokies and away from the hectic pace of Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Regarding the negative Review by the man from Knoxville with the pack of dogs in the little Pop-Up camper; I was camped nearby and if I had not been leaving the next day, I would have confronted him personally. He and his dogs were loud and disturbing to that area of the campground. I have 1 small dog that goes with us and we either have her with us or we Board her over in Sevierville at the "Doggy Daycare" while we are camping. I have been camping at Big Meadow Family Campground for about 3 years now and we think that it is the most friendly, caring and pleasant place to stay in the Smokies. We just returned from a 6,000 mile, 15 State Trip out West and we found no Campground that we liked any better than the Big Meadow Family Campground. The Campground owners are some of the finest people I have ever dealt with. They have the rules to make your camping experience more enjoyable and peacefull and secure. We love to camp but we do not like camping where people bring packs of barking dogs and the people are also loud and scurrilous. I am thankful that the staff at Big Meadow stands up to people like that. Camping should be fun and relaxing and friendly. That is why I like to camp at Big Meadow. They do not put up with loud and abusive dogs or people because they know that the vast majority of campers do not like to camp along side of inconsiderate people. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Big Meadow Campground is the overall best campground we have ever stayed in. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The sites are very well landscaped, bathrooms are clean, and the playground is well maintained. When checked in we were advised of the rules of the campground, none of which were out of line. These rules are for our benefit, so we were pleased and happy to follow the rules. We take exception the review concerning the barking dog in the tent camper. These rules are made for everyone's benefit and enjoyment. We do not own an animal, so it is very annoying when there is a barking dog close by, but we do understand that this sometimes happens, however, taking offense to the staff for trying to be sure that the other campers are not disturbed, is quite selfish. Big Meadow Campground is extremely nice in every way. We would rate them much higher than 10 if it were possible as we were very impressed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I read the recent bad review about Big Meadow Campground and I strongly disagree. I have stayed at Big Meadow Family Campground in 2000, 2001 and now for a month in 2005. I have always found the campground to be a very satisfying experience with the owners/operators more than willing to accommodate the needs of the folks staying there. They are helpful, friendly and provide a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy the many activities nearby in the Great Smoky Mountains. I find it refreshing that they have very simple rules, which allow all to enjoy the campground as long as they have respect for the rights of others to enjoy it as well. I would note that I have had dogs in the past; and have stayed at a variety of campgrounds during a two-year full-time stint traveling around the country. This appears to be a classic example of the typical dog debate & part of the reason why some campgrounds do not allow dogs & others segregate pet owners to certain areas of their campgrounds. Having been on both sides of the fence, I can certainly understand the respective positionsit is nice and convenient to take your pet along if possible. I think the key is that pet owners need to know and abide by the rules, ask for them upfront, and then be respectful of others. One of my dogs was a great watchdog and barked whenever he was alone. Knowing this, we did not take him camping. This was not only common sense, but respectful of others who may or may not like to hear him bark. Just because your neighbors do not vocally complain when you asked, does not mean that they found your behavior acceptable or respectful of their rightsmany folks do not like direct, open confrontation when they are trying to have a good time. It may be that the owners were doing their job and not waiting for a complaint but heading off problems. Wish more owners would do this. For the record, I did hear the dogs but did not make a complainthad I been in an adjacent campsite & stayed there during the day, I likely would have complained though. Not mentioned by this reviewer was the fact his dogs were in a soft sided pop up campernot the best place for a 160 lb great dane who may or may not be aggressive when children ride by on their bikes. Lastly, I would point out that it is incumbent upon the campground renter to inquire of any rules due to their special situation. Had you told them upfront that your dogs barked when left alone, they likely would have told you it would be a problem. I believe that Big Meadows Campground provided options to this renter (who in reality knew these going in but chose to ignore them for whatever reason) and he was well treatedmindful that the other renters here also have the right not to hear this persons dogs bark all day or bark whenever someone walks past their rig. The responsibility for the pet and its behavior lies with the pet owner, without exception, not with nearby renters or the campground operator. I have no problem giving the Big Meadows Family Campground a two thumbs up recommendation to anyone contemplating staying in Townsend Tennessee. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and I live in Knoxville TN which is approximately 40 minutes from Townsend TN. Pigeon Forge TN and Gatlinburg TN are both easily accessible from Townsend, so we decided to use it as a base camp for my sons summer visit from TX. Being able to tube the Little River in Townsend was also a draw for us. So my wife and I drove out to Townsend to scout out the campground locations. We were really impressed with the quality of the campgrounds available in the area and were very excited about the possibilities. We picked up pamphlets for several locations and returned home. We called every place we could find and they were all booked for the week that we needed. We were so disappointed until we found a campground on the Internet by the name of Big Meadow Family Campground, so we gave them a call. The lady my wife spoke to said they did have some sites available for the days we needed. We wanted to book a site over looking the river but one would not be available until 2 days after we needed to be there. We went ahead and booked one of their lower end sites with the understanding that we could move once the site overlooking the river became available. There is a price difference between the sites but we wanted to make this visit as special for my son as we could. My wife told the lady that booked our stay, that we had 3 dogs and asked if that would be a problem. The lady assured my wife as long as we cleaned up behind our pets that they were more than welcome to be there. We were so happy to have a place to take my son. He loves anything to do with water so this was perfect. My wife and I took our camper up the night before he was to arrive and set it up in the first of the 2 sites (site 24) that we were supposed to stay in. Upon signing in my wife was given a sheet of rules for the grounds. There are no campground rules posted on their site so this was the first time we had seen this list. One of the rules says you are not to leave you pets unattended. I took this to mean that you couldnt leave your pet tethered outside of your camper. We love our dogs like they are our children and they live a pampered life. There are also other rules like, children are not to slide, skid or spin the tires on their bikes, they are not to ride over 5mph, sewer connections are MANDATORY no exceptions (my camper is self contained, so I wasnt sure how I was supposed to hook to the sewer). We set our camper up on a Friday night and I picked my son up from the airport the next day. It was rather late by the time we arrived at the campgrounds so we decided against cooking, opting instead to go get some Hot Wings for dinner. We put the dogs inside of our camper with food, water, in the air conditioning and headed out. Upon our return we found a note attached to the door, saying that our dogs had been barking. The note said we were not to leave the dogs at any time from that point on. Now I have no doubt that the dogs did in fact bark at some point (they are dogs), but they were not barking upon our arrival at 10:20pm. My wife was upset by the note and by the possibility that we had caused a disturbance. I assured her that we would go to the office the next morning and work something out with the campground owners. So the next morning I went to the office and there was a gentleman at the counter. I laid the note on the counter and he asked me if he could help me. I said that I wanted to see if we could work something out, to which he immediately replied you have no options, you can either take the dogs with you or kennel them! I tried to explain to him that we were there to go tubing in the river and a Great Dane that weighs 160lbs would be rather cumbersome, but he again snapped either you kennel them, or you take them with you! Seeing that he was going to be unyielding and not listen to reason, I explained that we would pay for that night and go ahead and leave so that we would not to be a bother to the campgrounds any further. He said that was fine, but that there would not be any refunds of any of our money! I asked him why that would be the case and he said you brought this on yourself (it does say in their list of rules that you will not receive a refund if you are evicted, but we were never asked to leave). I told him that we would park the camper on the site we had paid for to save having to hall it back to Knoxville that day. I told him that I would just come pick it up later, on the day we had paid through and that is when he made what I felt was a threatening statement. Greg said you can leave it here but I will not be responsible for any vandalism and damage to your camper. Now at no point when we signed in did anybody at the desk make any comments about the safety of our camper, so why (unless he was making a threat) would he say something like that? So my wife packed up what she could, and took the dogs back to our home in Knoxville TN. My son and I moved the trailer from site 24 to site 1. It was a little strange that during the moving of the trailer, several of the campers around us came over to ask us if we were leaving. I explained that we were just moving to another site, but I also took the opportunity to apologize to them for any annoyance my dogs might have caused. Not one of them knew a thing about what I was talking about. They said they had only heard the dogs bark right when we left. The whole incident ruined most of the day, but we were able to get one run in on the river tubing. We have camped in the TN state and national parks and have left the dogs in our camper with food, water and even air conditioning, every time weve gone camping. We have never had a single complaint from anybody. Im not saying our dogs are perfect by any means (they are definitely dogs). I just feel like a family oriented park should have been willing to work with us. Our campsite (number 1) was right across the street from the playground. I expected noise from there and I was not disappointed. During the day that is to be expected and those kids deserve to play their hearts out. After all it is vacation for them too. We love kids and really enjoy watching them in the campgrounds weve visited. But kids making noise during the day is no different than dogs making noise. So why were they trying to require us to stay in the camper with the dogs at all times? They were unwilling to listen to any options but their own. I would have been willing to check on the dogs every 2 to 4 hours, and agree to be back at the camper by a certain time in the evening, but we never got to that part of the conversation. I would love to tell you to go to their web site and read their rules for yourself, but alas they do not have them posted on the site. There is a reason for that is several are overboard for a business that is supposed to be about having fun. I felt like, I would be doing many campers (especially with pets) a grave injustice, were I to just let this incident go without bringing it to light for others to see. Thank you We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

If you like sites with no shade you will love this place. The river sites have a public road running between the sites and the river. I believe the staff could be a little more friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We enjoyed our stay here very much. The campground is well designed, obviously by people who have actually camped in an RV! We stayed in one of the pull-thru super sites, which is extra long, with a concrete pad. Would highly recommend these sites! They even had gravel around the hookups, so your hoses, wires, etc... do not get muddy. The staff was very friendly, and the bathhouse was clean as a whistle. Would highly recommend this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park. Open sites that are not too close together. This is one of the best
campgrounds in the Townsend area. Close to GSMNP and Cades Cove. The owners are very very friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was very clean. The host were friendly and very helpful. All site were graveled, level and well maintained. Sites were not on top of each other however some were fairly close. Gatlinburg,Pigeon Forge and Cades Cove are all less than an hours drive away throurgh beautiful mountain roads. Would highly recommend. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful camping area, especially in the fall. There are no hookups, phones, TV service, or other amenities. Water is available as well as restrooms and a dump site. Hiking, animal watching and just relaxing is great here. We love it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is my favorite on earth. The cove is lovely and you can spend days hiking around the cove or just waking the 11 mile loop road. The Loop Road and the roads in the CG are in bad need of repair and are scheduled to be re-surfaced in May 2010. The loop road will be closed at that time. Sites are well shaded. Restrooms are clean but no showers. Very nice dump station in CG. Fresh water is available at dump station or at restrooms. Store is well stocked and bike rentals available. Horseback tours are available in the warmer months. No cell phone service and limited over the air TV reception. Caution on entering check-in station low overhanging branches. Staff at this facility are very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a WONDERFUL national park campground. The sites are huge. You should only camp here is you are prepared to dry camp - there are no hookups of any kind. If you are prepared for this, you will be in the midst of the beautiful Smokies right next to Cades Coves - truly a heaven on earth. I have camped and hiked in a dozen national parks, and while this does not have the grandeur of the Tetons or Glacier, it is well worth the visit. If you want the awful kitsch of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinberg, then this will NOT be for you. If you are there for the glory of the national park, then it is wonderful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Campsites are large, well maintained, and shady. Designated fire pits are located on each site. Trails, creeks, ranger classes, picnic areas, bike rental, and horseback riding available. Cold water bath houses have sinks and toilets, but no showers. This is a wonderful back to nature campground with many activity options. We camped here in a Tent.
A beautiful National Park, no hook-ups, but we can dry camp comfortably for 4-5 days. Generator use was allowed during certain times only and one section of the park was designated a no-generator area. Great access to the Cades Cove loop, good hiking and biking trails. Reservations would be a good idea - it was much busier than we though it would be - we were only able to stay three nights because of upcoming reservations. (877) 444-6777 We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The only thing this campground has going is location. The grounds are poorly maintained. The roads are narrow and full of ruts. Large stones and other useless obstructions are throughout the park making it hazardous to maneuver a 37 foot fifth wheel trailer. Ditches, stones and saplings make backing into campsites difficult. Overhead trees will damage your roof accessories. They have no restrictions about how loud a generator can be. The people next to us had a large construction generator and when I complained to rangers they said I could move. I will not return until they decide to make some improvements. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Cades Cove Campground is in the heart of the Smokey Mountains and far away from the neon world of Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg. It is a great place to get the feel for the mountains by going on a hike or swimming in a clear mountain stream. The camping experience in this campground is being closer to nature than in a more sophisticated campground. Don’t miss the ‘loop’ road around Cades Cove where you can loose count of the number of deer you’ve see on an early morning or late evening drive. Note that the “loop’ Road is only open to bicycles on Saturday Morning (which you can rent at the store). And be sure to stop at the grist mill at the halfway point. The camp store is well stocked. This is one of the best places to enjoy family and the true camping experience in this part of the country. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is good if you really want to do some rustic camping. No hook-ups at all, but Section B does allow some generator use. It's a large campground with virtually no security. The sites are quite roomy but there is very little privacy between the sites in the form of shrubbery, etc. The rangers are very strict regarding proper storage of food because of the bears, but other than that it appears that about anything goes in this campground. Lots of barking dogs, and pet owners do not pick up after their dogs. I do appreciate the new reservation system they have implemented through which you can reserve a specific site. You just can't beat the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. We took the Cades Cove hayride, and it was very pleasant. Highly recommend it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Ggreat campground no hook-ups or showers. Very clean level sites w/firepits picnic table. There is very clean rest room flush toilet with clean potable water and an area to dump grey water from your tote. Great store. Lots of wildlife. Stream close by. Great for short walks with kids. Loved this place 3 nights here in June. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We visit this campground once or twice every year. I would rate this campground a ten if it had hookups. It is still one of my favorite places to camp. Great scenery, wildlife, and hiking. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has no hookups and the bath houses have only toilets and cold running water, but they were VERY clean. Cades Cove campground is located in one of the most beautiful locations in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Wildlife is everywhere. It's very wooded and quiet at night. At least it was quiet when we were there. If it get noisy, the ranger lives within a quick walk of any of the loops. As for my choice of loops, C Loop seems to be more spacious. B Loop seems to be a bit more wooded and gets more wildlife coming through. Deer browse close to the B Loop. The campground has a store that's stocked pretty well. They also rent bikes here for people that want to ride the 11 mile scenic loop adjacent to the campground. For kids with bikes, this is paradise. For me, taking sponge baths in the popup camper was a small trade off for the kind of camping experience offered here. I would highly recommend it. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This is hard to rate park for an rv. It is very nice for what it is- a well landscaped campground in a national park with few ammenities. No power, electric, not even a bath house. If you're comfortable with that, it is a very nice park, nice campsites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is located adjacent to the Cades Cove Loop Road in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Reservations are required from early spring to late fall. There are no showers in this campground. The sites are very rough, uneven and short. It was very crowded and noisy when we visited. The scenery in this area is breathtaking. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
I have stayed with Lazy Daze many times. They have done a very good job maintaining the campground and seem to always be making minor improvements. My dogs enjoy the pet area, and my friend's children love the fact that the pool is so close, and the River Rat Tubing services are just next door. There is always a nice mix of people when I come, and we always enjoy the pavilion and river access from the campground side. When I am on vacation I enjoy the LAZY in my Days! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were camping as part of a Fiberglass Camper rally. The owners were most accommodating to our group as we pretty much took over the campground. The facilities were nice and clean. The sites are well maintained. The only complaint is that the Wi-Fi never worked. The owners did allow us to use the wired internet connection in the office. They definitely aim to please. We would recommend this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It was an OK park. Not a lot of room between the campers. The sites are stacked up on top of each other, but you do get to know just what the others are doing on the next site over. It just really cramped together. The pool is the size of a postage stamp, but it was clean. Cost us $42.00 for the site and $12.00 for the kids. $54.00 total. Some of the staff was friendly & some were not. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We spent the weekend at Lazy Daze campground and the sites were clean, the park was clean, and never did we see the dirty bathrooms, crowded camping areas etc as described below. Everything was clean, and yes, we used the bathrooms and showers on a daily basis. We have reservations to return next year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is under new ownership. We had a beautiful view of Little River from the covered wood deck on our site. The bath house was clean & well-maintained. The staff were friendly & helpful. The only negative was that the sites are pretty small. The campground is very close to Great Smoky Mountains National Park & Cades Cove. We plan to stay at Lazy Daze again next spring. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Bathrooms were cleaned several times a day and we never saw them dirty. The owners we very friendly and we helpful with anything we ask for. The sites are a little tight for larger (35' plus) campers but we found them great for us. Nice river sites and very close to the GSM park. The rates were the best in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here During Thanksgiving weekend in 2007 and during the Spring Festival in April 2008. The new management has this campground on top of everything. We have camped at two others in Townsend and find Lazy Dazes the best. We found everything to be good about this campground. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Out of 20 campers in our club in April 11 made reservations for next year before leaving. I guess that says a lot about this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here the week of July 4th and have nothing positive to say. The bathrooms were gross with toilets stopped up and overflowing, no toilet paper. Our site was across from the bathhouse and pool and not once did we see anybody clean the bathrooms. The pool was cloudy for the whole week. After coming back from spending the day in Gatlinburg, we noticed that the pool water was brown and very nasty looking. Other campers told us that the sewer had backed up in the pool. That will be our last stay at Lazy Daze. Rates are $36 plus $4 a night for children. They also charge you $22 for checking in early, they did this to the people next to us without telling them. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We only camped here for two nights before checking into Little River (overpriced and overrated). The campground has great access to the Little River for tubing which was fun but the campground itself is basically just a parking lot with campers lined up on top of each other. We were so close to the camper next to us that we couldn't even put our awning out. The pool was very small, not that clean and packed. The location to Cades Cove is ideal. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The sites are extremely close and require you to locate your neighbors and have them move their tow vehicles to allow you to back into your site. Even though this was Labor Day weekend, the pool was closed, I guess it was because the water was green, the overall campground appearance was trashy. Camp workers not very polite, when I made purchases at the camp store the worker would tell you how much was owed and never tender a thank-you or a smile. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The campground is in a nice area of Townsend and convenient to several tourist attractions, resturants, and a great bicycle and jogging trail. However, the management does not enforce the rules. The restrooms are not clean and the pool water is discolored. The campsites are not being kept up. So overall it is an OK campground, could just use some management skills. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We went to Townsend because of all the negative press the campgrounds in Gatlinburg have on -ine. We were very disappointed to find this campground horribly crowded and trashy. We wanted to host friends for a cookout, but we were embarrassed to have them there. The sites were so small we literally had to squeeze between our RV and the neighbors eating at their picnic table to set up! They have a pool, but the water is green. They are on a river, but we couldn't get close enough to see it because of the campers and tents crammed in next to it. We will absolutely NOT go back here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
While it is a nice place to visit with easy access to the West entrance to Great Smokey Mountain National Park, we felt like we in a coral with the rest of the stock. This wasn't camping, it was parking with everyone else. Back in sites that were very short and parking your tow vehicle was a problem for others who have to back in. Most of the time you had to move your vehicle to give room to the new guy who had to back in nearby. We won't go there again. We want to camp and not be really on top of the next person in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We just purchased our motorhome and drove to this park after seeing the reviews on this site. We had a wonderful time, the owners were extremely helpful to us. We forgot pillows and they loaned us some brand new ones they had for their cabins. We didn't have a cable and they loaned us one of those too. The outdoor pool, restrooms, and showers were clean and the fellow campers were very friendly. As first time campers we had a wonderful time. We will stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Small campground with very close full hookup sites. Stayed five nights. Family owned/operated and very friendly. Very family oriented park with pool, park layout is great for children. The only problem we had was lack of water pressure in the morning when they were filling the pool, just poor timing. On quiet side of TN Smokies, only short drive to Cades Cove and nice country drive to Pigeon Forge area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice campground. The owners are very helpful and pleasant. The sites are very close together, but we had a river site with a private deck overlooking the river that made up for the site closeness. Being right on the river is definitely the highlight of the campground. We spent a lot time sitting on the deck and walking along the river. We could watch people tubing down the river from out site. It was fun. The restrooms are very nice. A bench, towel bar and three hooks in the shower changing area - it's the little things that count, ya know. Restrooms are air conditioned and heated too! The location can't be beat for getting into the National Park and Cade Coves (a must see - go early in the morning to see more wildlife). There was only one small IGA grocery close to the campground. The town of Townsend does not have much to offer, but we were there for the National Park and not for tacky tourist stuff. We would return to this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
First time camping here. Very pleasant experience. Small family campground. Spaces are tight and there is barely any room between campsites. Owners live on the grounds and are nice people. This would be a 10 if the owners enforced the rules, especially about pets and speed. Some campers allow their dogs to run loose and don't clean up after them, and people speed through the campground. Campground and restrooms are clean. Many repeat campers and all very friendly. Will definitely return in the future. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Another great visit to this campground. We have camped here for over 10 years and still enjoy this campground. We have always found a clean campground, clean restrooms, friendly owners and friendly campers. This is a very shady campground. Rate is for river sites. Sites are small but during the times we camp there aren't many campers there so it doesn't present a problem. Don't travel with a laptop but understand that Wi-Fi works good. Will definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Management and staff are extremely friendly people and go out of their way to be helpful. Sites are close together and during holidays and week-ends campground becomes very crowded. Bathhouse and laundry room are kept very clean. Speed limit is not enforced and at times can be dangerous what with the children riding bikes and not watching out for cars. Would definitely recommend this campground but would not camp here during holidays due to how crowded the campground becomes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an excellent campground. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Restrooms are always kept in excellent condition as is the laundry room and swimming pool. The only drawback to this campground is how close the sites are but in all the years of camping here have never had a problem with other campers. Everyone we have met at this campground have always been very friendly and that is what keeps us coming back several times of year. Townsend is a very peaceful town. Riverstone Restaurant is an excellent place to eat. Food is always served fresh and hot and you get plenty for your money. French fries are excellent. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground was very cramped. The sites were almost on top of each other. We had difficulty backing in and the people next door were in a make shift tent. Their firepit was closer than two feet from our RV. We were very unhappy and left after 10 minutes. We found a nice spot at Ye Olde Mill Campground. I called the manager at Mountaineer about getting my desposit back. He was making excuses about the other campers using the firepit for cooking or not using it at all. The large pile of firewood told us they planned to use it. He said he would only charge a cancellation fee of $20.00, but charged $29.00 for one night. I would not stay there another 10 minutes. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have camped at this campground several times over the past six years and have always found it to be extremely clean. Owners live on-site and are great people and go out of their way to help you. Townsend is a great place to camp all year long. We will definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
For being a small Campground, this is a"jim dandy" spot to leave your RV and head into the Smoky Mountains or Cades Cove! Extremely clean bath rooms, showers, and swimming pool. Townsend is on the "sleepy" side of the Smoky's but there are still nice
restaurants and things to do. We camped here in a camper.
We had a great time at the lodge by the river. What an exceptional setting. Beautiful weather and geat camgpround hosts. Will definitely stay again. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
Absolutely beautiful park! We walked our dog around the park and along the Little River. Very tranquil setting. It was very nice to have a convenience store right there along with gas and propane for sale. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with information about the area. I would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If your family likes trees, this CG will be a good fit. In fact there are so many trees; they create obstacles entering some of the sites. The internal roads are mostly gravel and very narrow. Larger units will have a tough time maneuvering on the roads and entering sites without the help of others or movement of fire rings/other RV’s. Most of the concrete picnic table pads were old and generally will not align with most of the RV/TT doors, therefore mud is tracked into the units. We found the camp store to be overpriced. The staff did an outstanding job this weekend in dealing with constant torrential type rain storms. The creek in rear of CG started to rise due to the rain. The staff carefully watched this situation. They were proactive in moving units to assure no one was in harm’s way. We commend their diligence staying on top of this critical situation. We will again visit this CG. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was our first trip to the Smoky's. The price was too much for what we got at $65 per night. There is only 10-12' between sites, less if you have a slide out, extremely close together. The fire ring is within 3' of our rig and the pull through sites are not long enough for a TT/5er and truck, 35' max. We had to turn our truck sideways at the end which really put our truck in the road and caused a problem with other campers that had to do the same thing. We also had a problem with people arriving at 3 AM setting up camp that took them a hour to do. Needless to say not much sleep that night. The campground is clean, but that was the only positive thing I saw. They charge you for every minor thing like walk-in visitors I noticed. The store is overpriced so we went down the road to the IGA instead. We will not be going back there again, we found a few other campgrounds we like better with more reasonable pricing. I could have rented a room for what they charge here and saved on gas pulling my rig. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was a nice place to camp; lots for kids of all ages. We had motor trouble and were late getting there. They kept asking our friends if we were OK and even checked to see if another site would be better since we had to be towed in as we were only 5 miles from campground. Only negative thing was the firewood needed to be split into smaller sections and dried out for about another 4 months. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is not the Little River Campground we remember. The hosts are not friendly and store attendants are worse. They were rude, offered no hospitality, and definitely not from Tennessee. The WiFi is horrible. The sites are too close together. The campfire beside us was within 3 feet of our 90 gallon fuel tank. The site sewer was stopped up and left a nice smell under our motorhome. They charged a friend four dollars to walk to our site, being he was not camping, after we paid over 65 dollars a night for the premium site. After many years of using this facility, we will not camp here again. It is over priced. They are obviously in it for the money, and rude. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Continues to be a great campground. The five year old and dog love it. The staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of activities to keep the kids from getting bored. The pool and bathrooms were very clean. Wi-Fi works most of the time. Intermittent cell phone service. Can be noisy, but quiet time strictly enforced. We have stayed here at least five times. It does have a few quirks. It can be expensive, the interior roads need to be paved, and the smoke from the numerous campfires five feet from your front door can be suffocating. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a beautiful park with the Little River running through it, you can tube from inside the park. We stay here in July and December every year. You are 1/4 mile from the enterance to the Smokey Mtn. Ntl. Park. and 14 miles from Cades Cove for bear and deer watching. Also, you are only 12 miles from Piegon Forge, 14 miles from Gatlinburg but in the small, peaceful town of Townsend. KOA offers gas, grocery and supplies, broasted chicken, ice cream and fudge. Also, they have hey rides, yes hey because the kids all yell hey to the other campers, water fights, outdoor movies and kids crafts. Just a wonderful place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Spaces a wee bit tight getting into, but once there had plenty of room for the slide outs. Our in-laws had a spot with great shade, we had very little. Lot of highway noise and per the typical KOA way over priced. Staff was very friendly and they had a lot of activities going on for kids to enjoy. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I feel this KOA is quite expensive but we didn't plan ahead and wanted to be close to Cades Cove. I think we could have gone next door to Tremont and saved some money but we didn't try. We actually spent four nights in this park in 3 sites. Our riverfront site was quite expensive as it was around 70 on a Sat night. We were in site numbers 35, 8, and 13. On all 3 I could get online, however if I wanted it to be fast, I went closer to the office. They must reserve specific sites here, for the one we had to move from, was never occupied so I guess those folks paid and didn't show up. I think the next time I'll plan ahead and save some money for we are in the park all day so I don't see a need to spend that much. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I booked our reservation at this KOA campground because of the previous reviews, but I can assure you that this campground is not all that good, and we will not stay here again. Our site was not level and actually very difficult to level, plus very small and backed right up to the camper behind us. There are some beautiful shade trees but the campground is dusty and just too close to the site beside you, behind you and in front of you. As I said - we will not be staying here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This campground is very peaceful. It is very close to the Smoky Mountain Park and one of the closest to Cades Cove. We will be returning to this campground very soon. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park, very convenient to the Cades Cove section of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Sites are a little close together, but acceptable. The park has a nice country feel to it, with plenty of trees. People, both staff and other campers are very friendly. We don't have small children, but the place seems kid friendly. Lots of kids playing in the playground having fun. Cable works well, free WiFi is OK. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our second time staying here.... and it was just as great!!! Pull through site the first time was very easy to negotiate. Back-in riverside site the second time a little more tricky due to the sites across the road, but still negotiable. Great "beach" area along the river for playing with the kids and the dog. Pool and bathrooms very clean. Staff friendly and open to any questions. Sites clean, well maintained, and fairly big. Summer activities for kids{outdoor movies, hay rides}. Great playground with new and updated equipment. Gravel drives around campground, but the community has a long bike path that makes up for it. Gameroom also great addition. Camp store was nice for forgotten supplies. Overall great place!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The location is great for visiting the Smoky Mountains because it is very close to the Townsend visitor center and some of the most visited sections of the Park. The best features are probably the shade trees and WiFi. We also enjoyed an outdoor movie with popcorn that was shown on a big inflatable screen. The sites along the river have the best views. All sites in this park are very small. My awning and slide were less than 10 feet from my neighbors campers. Parking is tight and you might have to get someone to move their vehicle to get your camper in our out of your site. The store is excellent. Another good feature of this area is a paved bike/walking path that runs from this RV park all the way into town so you can bike to restaurants, the visitor center, heritage museum, grocery store, and dollar store. We stayed 5 nights. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very wonderful campground, BUT it has completely overpriced itself. We had a site booked for this coming June on a riverside site and after their price increase this year, our site would be $93 a night (two adults, two children and one small dog). The campground is not that nice! We did feel that the workers were very overwhelming. We joked about how the minute that somebody pulled out of their site, the "worker bees" would flock to sweep the site and clean out the fire pits -- almost ridiculously. They came up to us twice to make sure that our 20 pound dog was tied to a lead. They were everywhere!! We planned on going back this year, but just will not pay the overpriced rate. Too bad that this is happening because it's a family oriented campground that soon will be eliminating the family population because of the price!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful, clean campground. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Just purchased by KOA, however, honored our rates at the time of our reservation. Only negatives are that the campsites are close together and entering and exiting the park is very tight. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fantastic campground in a beautiful location. Staff very helpful and easy to deal with. Limited number of 'open all year' sites. Becoming a KOA campground. Will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground staff was friendly and helpful and the grounds were extremely well kept. The facilities were both modern and clean. We stayed in site #3 and although it was not a river front site, we had an excellent view of the river from our rear RV window and from the fire ring area that is located at the rear of each campsite. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first time to Little River Village but will not be the last. Our site (26) was tucked away in a corner and a little difficult to get into but was adequately size, relatively level and concrete patio was great for kids. Campground had special activities planned for kids to celebrate Halloween which our kids, me too, enjoyed. Bath house was immaculately clean and saw them being cleaned numerous times each day. Lot of care was taken to keep falling leaves removed from the road and sites. We are thinking about 2007 reservations for the same time next year as this trip was just about as perfect as one could expect. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful park with lots of trees and a gorgeous river. This park has it all. There's a "big RV" side with many pull-thru sites, as well as a more natural, rustic side nicer for pop-ups, truck campers, and tents (many with water & electric). Wi-fi worked at site, but sometimes got overloaded in the evening. Facilities are spotless and staff is exceptionally friendly and service-oriented. I'll be back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Fantastic place! We had site 11 on the water which includes a deck looking over the river. Very quiet location but close to the action in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smoky Mountain National Park. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The location is great, next to the river. The registration process was quick and easy. Generally, management was friendly. However, they had a really bad skunk problem. It bothered us two nights in a row. Management would not work with us to resolve the problem reasonably. So we were forced to end our vacation early. They also charge an additional $4 per guest per day per site. If you are camping with 4 people, that is an extra $8 per day to add on to the site fee. It was nice having a store on the property to buy stuff, but it was greatly overpriced. Just drive or bike to the IGA just down the street. We camped here in a Tent.

We drove over 5 hours to camp here and made our reservations months in advance. As soon as we arrived, I took the children to the pool. This is where I made a crucial mistake, I allowed my children to enter the deep end (8 ft) of the pool by bending over hands-first instead of feet-first. This was considered a dive (there was a no diving sign) and one of the employees came rushing in to severely reprimand me. She accused my children of doing handstands and flips which they most certainly were not doing. I apologized and didn't let them do it again. I was wrong to let them do that, but other campgrounds we've stayed at allow this if the deep end is 8 ft. But I was wrong and I am usually a rule-follower, not a rule breaker. But since I made this mistake, I was continually watched by the campground employees. One even parked at our site on her golf cart and watched us one morning. I was on the computer and my husband was cleaning the grill. She sat there for at least 5 minutes, staring but not speaking, until my husband asked if he could help her, then she told him that she hoped he wasn't making a mess because their employees had to clean the sites. It was a gas grill and he was only washing it off. Bearing this in mind here is my assessment: Positives: (1) Good access to the creek (2) Clean restrooms (3) Clean campground (4) Bike trail across the road (5) Great preacher at the church service Negatives: (1) Nazi-like employees that watch you like you're a criminal (2) The campground store has 100% markup (3) Tube rental is a rip-off. Go up the street and rent for 1/2 the price of the campground (4) There is a rule not to leave dogs unattended. We didn't take our dog but I wouldn't risk it if you plan to leave them for any time at all. (5) Sites are very close together. Overall this is a pretty nice campground if you know all the rules and can obey them without exception. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is one of the best campgrounds in Towmsend, that is not unless you want a site that has no hookups at all. The staff is friendly, pool is cleaned daily, and the staff really keep up with everything on the grounds. I noticed that some one was driving around to look at the campground and the staff used radios to make sure that the car was not "invading" any campers. That made me feel a little bit more relaxed about leaving home. The office staff was very friendly and helped answer questions about some of our mountain adventures we took while there, we were able to rent our tubes at the office. My 12 year old daughter is very active and she never once said that she was bored. They are many other campgrounds here but alot of them look like that they are hard to get in, no trees, or no pool. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here over the Memorial Day weekend. We completely enjoyed our stay. The owners and employees were terrific. They even spent a lot of time helping me track down a problem with my refrigerator. The only negative that we found was the motorcycles at the store. It was apparently a gathering place for the weekend. The noise was terrible and continued all day for the whole weekend. Other than that, this is one of the best campgrounds that we have used. Will definitely be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great campground that is located very near the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This is a family style campground that can accomodate large motorhomes to small tents. The managment does an excellent job of keeping this campground clean. Bathhouses are cleaned daily, the pool is clean, and sites are cleaned. There are many shade trees, the wi-fi does not reach all sites due to the trees though. There is an area for tents without hookups, porta potties are located in strategic areas to accomodate tenters during their midnight emergencies. Some sites are located right on the Little River which flows at the back of the campground (some have sewer hook-ups but most of the streamside sites do not have sewer hook-ups). The sites are level, but they are not large, I would consider them to be more accommodating than most in regards to size for this area. There are many activities for families (playground, basketball, game rooms, swimming pool, tubing the Little River, bike rentals, I have seen hayrides during the fall). I always stay at this campground when I am in this area of the Smokies, it is friendly, clean, accommodating to my needs, and it is well patrolled by management. There is a restaurant, gas station with small store that has several camping amenities on site. You can buy your firewood in the store and they will deliver right to your site for you. Do NOT miss the fudge shop that is located in the restaurant. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very friendly staff work hard to ensure that the campground is kept spotless. Bathrooms were always spotless. Showers were always clean and there was always plenty of very hot water. Laundry facilities were always spotless as well. Pool was clean. With all the rain, we were unable to tube. Great playground and game room. We were very pleased with the campground and the staff. Only downside would be the closeness of the sites to each other. This was our first visit to this campground, but it most definitely will not be the last. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice, neat, and clean family atmosphere. Love the location with easy access to National Park, Cades Cove, and Gattlinburg. River front sites need further development for motorhome access. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our yearly fall destination when the leaves are turning. Sites on the creek are very pleasant. Best part is the bike trails into Townsend and the proximity to the park. We'll be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The campground was clean and well kept but sites were very close. Several of the concrete patios and fire rings had been ran over as campers pulled out of the pull-thru sites. They have several amenities for recreation including playground and basketball courts. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A very well maintained campground on "the quiet side of the Smokies". They have a nice playground and pool for the kids and a "lazy river" that runs along the back of the campground. Our only complaint was the size of the sites. We told them we had slide-outs when making our reservation, but our driver's side slide was withing inches of hitting the neighbor's awning. Those neighbors left the day after we got there, so it worked out ok, but in peak season we would have been very cramped. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice family park. Close to Smokey Mountain National Park entrance. We've camped here several times and always find it to be clean and well run. If you are going to the Smokey's to relax and visit the National Park instead of the tourist traps in Gatlinburg and Sevierville, this is the place to be. Although we list 5th wheel as our last visit, we've visited here in a Motorhome and Tent Trailer. We have friends who camped in a tent. The campground is well suited for all of these. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Although this park is well maintained and landscaped, we found the campsites very close together. It is a typical private campground, crowded, congested, and jammed up. The road looping through the campsites had trucks and toads parked out on it because the sites did not have sufficient space for parking. Our site was very narrow. The fudge was delicious. We camped here in a camper.

Beautiful park! We go there once a year. Park is located out of the hussle and bussle of Gatlinburg and is located next to park entrance. Campstore and restaurant on premises-trY THE FUDGE-BEST AROUND. We camped here in a camper.
This campground is making improvements: covered patio decks for each of the river sites in both A & B sections. Very nice. Next year they're planning on paving roads to limit dust, and to make other aesthetic improvements to buildings. Although expensive in-season, it's a fair price for off-season camping. Wi-Fi is pretty week, but does work. River sites in B section are a little deeper and a tad wider than A section, but due to 50amp service, they are more expensive. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice campground with a great location for visiting Cade's Cove. Site are pretty large and level. Free Wi-Fi and cable work well. Interior roads can be tight for a big rig, and branches scraped my motorhome on the way out. The bigger problem with this campground is the access over a single lane bridge with a 3 ton limit. My RV weighs 11 tons and big diesels can weigh more. I would not stay here again because of the bridge. It is a nice place for tents, pop-ups, and cabins. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Tremont Outdoor Resort: a nice clean campground, plenty of room between rigs. Quiet at night and secure. Reasonable rates compared to others, there is a lodging tax added to total currently 14.25%. If you like to hike there are plenty of day hikes. You can walk to the entrance of the National park and take the first hiking trail on the right called Chestnut Ridge. Also you can bike ride from campground through Townsend on a bike path and back to complete a 10 mile trip. It's close to the park and there's lots of activities to do. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very pretty park right on the Little River. We had a lakeside site and they had just built a new covered deck for all the lakeside sites. It was very nice. It is the closest park to the entrance to the Smokies. We will come here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice Campground with older established facilities. However a bit pricey at $65 per night and $4.00 each for each additional person. Other campgrounds in this area average about $40-$45 per night. The shower water pressure needs to be regulated. If someone flush's toilet the water pressure drastically drops on the cold side. For the price I would have expected level sites with concrete pads. The state has placed a load limit of 3 tons on the single lane bridge but I drove 10 tons across it with no problem (Faith or stupidity?) We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Our family has decided that site 26 on the river is the nicest campsite we have ever used. Plenty of space between sites. Campground is very well maintained and folks were very nice. Premium price, but well worth it! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here in April, and we had a wonderful time. The park is right outside the entrance to the Smokey Mountains and very close to Cades Cove. The campground is well maintained and quiet. ownsend is a quaint little town that does not have the crowds or congestion of Gatlinburg - which is why we picked it. If you want a lot of touristy activities like upscale restaurants, mini golf, and tons of shopping - then Gatlinburg should be your destination. If you want a fun and relaxing get-a-way that focuses on outdoor activities and the park - Townsend and Tremont are perfect! In reference to some earlier reviewers that complained about too many rules at the park - we observed that there are rules, but only to keep the place clean, quiet, and safe for campers. None of the rules were unreasonable or over the top. Great place to stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Spent a week on the river at Tremont. Excellent campground, friendly and helpful staff. Camp sites were larger than most campgrounds in the area. Looking forward to going back this fall! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We moved to this campground from the Elkmont Campground inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park because we couldn't get a wireless signal at Elkmont. We asked to check out our site to make sure we could get decent wireless reception before paying for our stay, and they didn't have any objections to that (and warned us that cell reception in the campground can be spotty). Our experience with the office and other staff was pleasant, and we would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Where do I begin? I have been mislead from the start. I haven't camped here, but have had a very bad experience. I made my reservations in Nov '06 for June '07. I was not made aware the rates were going up the next year and was charged the higher price. When I called to question it, the manager told me they didn't have to give that info. I should have asked. They charge you 20 bucks each time you have to change your reservation, no matter how far out. I was going to have to pay 56 bucks extra for 2 kids, on top of 58 bucks a night. I drove through the cg last trip to Townsend, and it is not a resort. They have gravel interior roads and gravel sites. Not what I would consider a resort. I camped this past week in an Alabama state park with asphalt sites and roads. That is what you would expect in a resort cg.The lady manager is not overly welcoming, and told me point blank I WOULD NOT receive a refund, even after I explained about being mislead the entire experience. Buyer beware. Read the other reviews. There are nicer cg's in the area for less, and much friendlier management. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We spent our first night in our new (gently used) Trailmanor. The sound of the river was wonderful. The employees were very nice and helpful. The river-front campsite was much less expensive than at the KOA. The out-of-season rate was very good for Townsend. (800) 448-6373 We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
My primary complaint about this park is the poor attitude, poor service, and silly, ridiculous rules by the management/owner staff. The actual park is clean nicely maintained, and if you are someone without local friends who may visit and do not care which part of the park you stay in, you will find this park acceptable. But, God forbid if you have someone visit with their car parked alongside yours on the gravel driveway. They must move their car! Large pickup trucks in other sites that extend outside the gravel are acceptable, but the rule is one vehicle per site, and it is monitored with a vengence. If you have children you might consider having them carry ID with them that show their age-because they very likely will be approached by the management staff. Also, you should consider getting confirmation faxed to you about spots that are available, because what they tell you up front, and what actually happens when you register can be very different. The six day rule also does not apply to everyone; I would venture to guess it has something to do with who you know. We will not go back to this campground. It is a shame that this nice campground right next to the park does not have owner/managers interested in providing good customer relations. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground was clean, but the owners were very strict with children using the playground. Our daughter is 10 and her friend was 10, both playing on a very uncrowded playground. The owner/manager stopped them and told them the campground was for 10 year-old children and below. Feeling like they had been told to leave, they came back to the campsite. We had to have discussion with the owner/manager. Also, only one vehicle per site/beyond tow vehicle. My sister visited in a small car, no wheels touched the grass; the manager came to our site and had us move her car to a side gravel area, where children were throwing baseballs. We had to have the children stop throwing the ball, due to possible broken car windows. We will not use this campground again. They are not family friendly and do not believe in providing good customer service. We camped here in a Motorhome.
First, you must understand, my standard for a 10 is Fort Wilderness at Disney. Tremont is a great campground. Its location can't be beat as it is at the entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park. We camped in a 32' camper and had no problem navigating the campground. The lots are larger than traditional private campgrounds and the river lots have private decks. The lots are gravel which is probably bad in the summer but was fine in the fall. The staff was very helpful and polite. Previous complaints about the staff had to be by people who broke the rules. I like the rules. They are focused on making the stay of others pleasant. The bath houses are clean. You have to have a pass code to enter them. The lots are NOT level (it cost them a point). The store did not have tons of stock but the groceries and supplies were reasonably priced. My only other complaint is one that is consistent for most campgrounds. I have three children and the campground charges $3 per night for each child. With the premium rate already being charged, I hated paying the additional 18 bucks (another point). Overall, I love this campground, in the fall. I can't wait to return for a tubing adventure, on the river, in the summer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is a nice retreat from the congestion of the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area. Tremont is a quiet town located about 20 miles from Pigeon Forge. This campground is on the river with many waterfront sites available. Sites are well spaced gravel pads. Restrooms were clean and the entire campground was well maintained. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Our only quibble was with the remoteness of Tremont from the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. Twenty miles on the curvy roads means a 30+ minute drive to get from the campground to Pigeon Forge. Access to Cades Cove however is quick as the campground is situated at the entrance to the National Forest. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed in section B and had a river front site. The entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just across the river and it carries a large volume of noisy traffic. The campground basically offers RV parking in graveled spaces that equate to parking lot camping in a mountain atmosphere. Nothing special, the constant roadway traffic combined with the inner campground traffic seemed excessive. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great park, nice spot on river with new deck to sit on and watch the tubers. Only thing to not give this a 10 was the entrance on the main road was tight for 40' rigs. Then getting out of loop when leaving was tight due to bushes. Will return for sure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Used to be a nice place for the family to get away. Good location, right next to Smoky Mtn. Nat'l Park, closest CG to the park, right on the Little River. Improvements were obvious in the campsites (cable TV, new outlets, etc). Bathroom facilities were reasonably clean. Wifi only worked sporadically. The problem I have with the CG is the Gestapo staff. We had kids with us and the staff obviously wants to have unusually strict rules. Rules are good but these guys take it to the next level. I can go with kids not skidding bike tires, riding skateboards, etc. My son had to walk to the restroom a few minutes after 10pm. He was harassed by the golf cart patrol at the entrance to the bathhouse about not having an adult with him (he is 13 years old). Some kids at the KOA campground across the river set off some fireworks (it was the 4th). Golf cart Nazis came flying down to our site to accuse our kids of doing it. We had a 'bucket' light tied up in a tree. They never said a word but came to the campsite daily when we were gone to take it down. (two different neighbors had the same light setup - they weren't bothered the whole week). Has an on site laundry but all 4 washers had out of order signs. A friend who was camping a few yards away backed his truck up to my site to unload some firewood. Within 3 minutes, a golf cart pulled up and he was told, "chief, get that truck out of here". We were told in no uncertain terms to get the truck out of our site because their rules state only one vehicle per site even though he saw us unloading the firewood. A previous posted mentioned that it was as if the golf cart patrol was just out looking to make problems. We definitely found that to be the case. A big disappointment and we won't be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was our 2nd visit to Tremont. The campground is very clean, the sites are large, most have good shade and the staff very nice. Wifi is free and works well - cable is included. Fire rings are provided and wood is available (for a price). Cell phone service is hit and miss (not within their control) I do wish we had been able to reserve a different site as we were backed up to the main road (lots of traffic)and too close to the dumpsters (noisy, busy place!). I'll know to call sooner if we're going to be there again around a holiday (I thought 3 months ahead was enough). Try to get a river site if you can. The water level in the river was very low which made the tubing slow going - we saw lots of people with blown out tubes from hitting the rocks (again, not within their control). The only thing I would change would be to move the dumpsters to a different location and provide garbage pick-up so everyone wouldn't be driving to dump their trash. Other than that, we had a very enjoyable experience and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We visited this campground due to the recommendations from this site. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. It wasn't the campground that was disappointing but the rude behavior of the management and staff. This campground will not reserve you an actual campsite unless you stay 6 days are more. I can live with that but we called the day before and spoke to a person whose name I'll not mention, who said we could get two sites together and one across as we had 3 families camping together. When we get there, the manager, starts booking our first person in and already has assigned them a spot so I ask where she is putting us so I could see if that was going to work for us. No answer. I ask again, and again I'm ignored as she continues to check us in. I had to ask four times to get the manager to answer me. When she finally told me where we were going to be I asked her about what the staff mentioned yesterday and she said "I ought to be lucky to get 3 together". I understand they have their guidelines so there is no need to be rude. Below are other instances of rudeness from the staff. - We had a visitor who paid to visit and park who came to our site to unpack some supplies. Before we can get the car move they show up on a golf cart and ask what are we doing with this car and it needs to move now. - When a camper had the entrance to the loop we were in blocked I went in the exit side to access the loop and before I could get out of the vehicle a golf cart rolled up and I received a lecture in my window about not entering the exit to access the loop. I should wait for the camper to move no matter how long it takes. - They require access to the bathhouse with a code. I went to the bathhouse and a 8 or 9 year old kid was trying to get in with the right code. I tried it and it didn't work. I go to the office and they tell me it will lock out after a few incorrect attempts and to wait a few minutes before trying again. Before I can try it again, once again a golf cart rolls up and I get a lecture on not typing the right code will lock it up. - We had another couple coming to stay in one of their cabins and when they called to get the total price it was much higher than the original quote. When asked why it was higher it was because they charge $10 for EACH child. When the couple mentioned they weren't told this originally they quickly and shortly said "we'll credit your card" and hung up on them. There were more instances but I fingers are getting tired. The campsites were nice, nothing extravagant. They were gravel and the road was gravel. Fire pits were in the ground and we were under a tree that dripped sap on everything. Hookups were strange as well as they were towards the front of the campsite. We stayed in (24,27,29) which strangely enough are all on one side across from the creek. Picnic table was broken and had to switch it out with an adjacent site. Also, they website map and prices are not correct. The numbers of the sites are different. They even charge you to use their dump station if you want to. Never seen that before. We will never stay here again. The Little River KOA is right next door and will receive our business from now own due to the fine customer service we have received from them before. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Home type atmosphere, peaceful and quiet. The staff is very helpful when needed. Have made many improvements and are continuing to do so. We've camped here for about 20 years and always return because of the location and atmosphere. Easy access to the Smokies and Cades Cove. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Over the past five years we have been dedicated to this campground but unfortunately all good things must come to a end. We usually stay at Tremont Hills twice a year for a total of about 8-10 days. I have sent them business recommending them over and over but I can’t and won't do that now. The campground has new owners and they are not very people friendly. This past time we were there I felt like the management treated me like a kid. They wouldn’t let me complete my question before interrupting and saying”NO!” It was very rude and uncalled for. Originally I asked for a riverfront site and was told over the phone that they didn’t have any available. I sounded so disappointed that they stated that well maybe something will work out for us before we got there. But after they got us there they didn’t want to hear a word about moving over to a river front site. After the first night there we saw several riverfront sites open so I walked up to the office and I was going to ask if there were any riverfront cancellations that we would like to move over there and before I could finish my sentence I was rudely interrupted and told NO! There isn’t any. I took a step back and then was going to tell them that I was willing to move around a couple nights just to have one and again I was cut off and treated like a child. I must say that I have never been treated like that at any establishment much less a campground. We are now in the process of my finding another home campground for the Smoky’s. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first time staying at this campground, but it won't be the last. We enjoyed our stay. We have visited all the other campgrounds in the area and this is our favorite. Cell phones do not work here, but they do work just down the road. WiFi is very spotty. The management was very helpful and friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is beautiful in the fall. Located near a river and Cades Cove, you can enjoy nature at it's best. The sites are will shaded and the ones with patios are great. The staff is friendly and helpful. We plan to spend a week their this fall. We do recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is the last property before the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is nice knowing the river is pristine and has not flowed past anyone's sewers before flowing past our campsite! Shady and quiet, and in 2006 they added more river sites. We reserved the best spot (at least our favorite) and loved every minute. Looking at a campground map, the 2 sites on the river closest to the park have a large sandy shaded area perfect for our 1 year old and his tractors and trucks! Steps away is a short trail to the river's edge, and a shallow area perfect for wading or tossing pebbles in the water. We enjoyed watching the tubers' expressions of joy or trepidation as they passed by. Nights were quiet with only the river sounds and the occasional Harleys passing by. The pool is smallish, but the staff are friendly. The grounds have been exceptionally clean and parklike our last 3 visits. The only downfall is the entrance, a bridge over the river, one lane. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I wrote the May 2005 review and this was our second stay at Tremont. Everything was as good as we remembered. While I could complain about the $10 per night increase in cost, the money is being put to good use. A section that used to be primitive camping is in the process of having full hookups installed, and it looked like the work should be completed by winter. Other landscaping improvements were also noticed. The new full hookup section also features some river front sites, although they don't have overhanging decks as in the older section, and the sewer hookups are a more conventional style. Same decent spacing between sites as in the older section. When checked for this review, the restrooms and showers were clean but had not been remodeled. Note that the $48 per night is for a river front site with full hookups. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Tremont Hills is one of the best campgrounds I have stayed at in Townsend. At first I thought the rangers were a little strict, but after seeing a kid wipe out on a bike and hurting his arm before being taken to the hospital I understand why they are a little strict. The grounds are kept very clean. Bathhouses are cleaned two to three times per day. I was really impressed at the time they spend keeping the place clean. Tubing on the river seemed like it would be nice. Did not do this because it was not very warm when we were there. Thought it might be a little chilly to do this. We will return Tremont Hills. I didn't give a rating of 10 because all sites aren't full hookup. We had water and electric, but cable and sewer would have been nice. Maybe they will finish upgrading all sections soon. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We were very pleased with this campground. We were in the "A" section, nice big, grassy (gravel pad) sites with fire rings. Campground is very clean, but were surprised they didn't pick up garbage. Roads are a mix of pavement and gravel. We were originally given one site, but had to change to another site as it had steep grade to it and we couldn't get our 31' up it without tearing off the back bumper. Then had to move again the last day as we decided to extend our stay and our site was already reserved. (they let you reserve a specific site if you stay 6 nights) Campground staff was very nice and very helpful. Store wasn't over-stocked, but all we ever needed was ice. The river was fun but the tube rental fee ($8 a day) was a little steep in my opinion. Guess you pay for convenience. We toured the other campgrounds in the immediate area for future reference - we would definitely stay at Tremont again before any of the others. Wi-fi was adequate, laundromat ate my money and nightly fee of $46 includes tax. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - be sure to take a drive through Cades Cove and keep your eyes pealed for bears! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Our site was in area C which has recently been upgraded to full utilities and right on the Little River. We were able to tube right up to our camper and had lots of space for the kids. Other than maybe 3 or 4 sites at Little River campground, this in our opinion is the best campground in the Townsend area. There's more grass and roomy sites than any other campground in the area. Amenities with full hookups including cable tv & wi-fi internet. The pool was nice and over all the experience was great. Playground wasn't as nice as Little River and neither was the entrance(s) to the river. However, neither of these were any real issue and the roomy sites with lots of grass made up for that. We'll be back to camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We were right on the river, and it was wonderfully noisy as it rushed and tumbled. The campground is very nice and very quiet; new owners really friendly and helpful. Everything was super clean, and they are making many improvements. Our campsite was sodded while we were there. The pool and laundry room were about the cleanest I have seen. This park is very close to the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains NP and Cades Cove is a great day trip. Good IGA grocery store about 2 miles away in Townsend. We were in a motor home in May 06. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nightly rate is for a river site. All extra people cost $3 extra. Son and granddaughter spent one night, pushing the cost to $48 plus tax per night. Lots of improvements being made at this park. It is the closest commercial campground to Cades Cove. Cell phones do not work here. Might stay here again, but will probably look at some of the other area campgrounds a little more closely before deciding. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the better commercial campgrounds in Townsend, but you have to choose your site carefully. I recommend the "A" section until the owners finish renovating the other sections of the campground. Some of the sites are a little close together, but overall this is a pleasant place. Although the riverfront sites are more expensive than the interior sites, we found them the least desirable since they were VERY close to one another and slightly eroded due to high volume use. The new managers seem to be devoted to renovating this campground, and it should continue to get better every month. Two little incidents bothered us though: We reserved a riverfront site two months in advance, and a couple of days before we were due to arrive, I got a phone call from the manager telling us that there had been a "mix up" in the reservation and we would not be able to have a riverfront site afterall. Since we were only staying three nights during spring break, I'm sort of suspicious that we actually got "bumped" in favor of someone who was willing to rent the higher priced site for the full week. I dunno...maybe it's my imagination. The second incident will bite you: although the sites have a firepit, there is no grate to use to grill your meat. Coincidentally, the office just happens to have grates for sale for $12. So bring your own grill or be prepared to purchase one at the office. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
great location....new managers seemed friendly. site are very nice. 90 plus cable channels. we had the best site there. #41 on the river. large MH might be tight getting thru. Best week of camping we have ever had. easy access to the SMNP areas. New management seemed to be doing alot of painting and cleaning. Sites were very clean. wooded setting. Larger than MOST all other campgrounds. make sure you have long sewer hose for some sites. No complaints from us. easy drive to town for groceries. 30 min to dollywood. Sites on river could get noisy during summer months with tubers and road traffic into Smokey Mtn Nat. park. Get something in the "A" section. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We usually stay at this campground at least once a year and have been for years but this last time the owners/office people was really rude. There was one lady that was really nice but I think she was a work camper the other lady was really hateful when I asked about staying an extra night. She was completely rude and didnt even let me finish getting my sentence out when she snapped at me we dont have any". Im not even sure she knew what I was asking about. We left and went next door to the Little River Campground. We had a wonderful time over there. I dont know if we will go back to Tremont Hills anymore. Nice campground but the staff needs to be more helpful and understanding. The people in the office/store act like you are bugging them when you go up to the office for anything. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A very nice place to stay. Reservations were handled with no problems and the staff was friendly. In the full hookup section the sites are mostly level gravel parking and patio areas, and sites are separated with a strip of grass. Compared to other campgrounds in the area, these sites seem to be a little bit wider. We had a river view site, which had a small wooden deck overlooking the river. Highway 73 is right across the river so there was some road noise, but after dark traffic is almost nonexistent. There are only a few pull thru sites and in my opinion they were not as nice as the others. As a previous review suggested, the location of the hookups on each site varies but if you bring long hoses and a 30 or 50 amp extension cord you should have no problems. Cable TV had roughly 90 channels with perfect reception. We did not use the rest rooms or showers, but when I checked for the purposes of this review they were clean and seemed to be in good order. In fact, it looks like some remodeling had been done in the past few years. This park is roughly 30 minutes from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, regardless of what route you take. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We selected this campground after visiting several in the Townsend area on a previous trip. We chose it because it was the most attractive and seemed to offer the most amenities, even though it did not have 50 amp service. Getting in and out of the front driveway was difficult for our 40 foot motorhome, though we managed. We found the staff to be very unfriendly. At the time of our visit, we had two elderly parents in hospitals in Florida, and our cell phone did not have a signal at the campground. I explained the situation to the staff person and asked that they notify me if an emergency call came through for us. She snapped at me, "We don't do that. You'll have to check the bulletin board outside the office." I understand that the office can't personally notify every camper about every message, and I am more than willing to check a bulletin board. But I feel that medical emergencies should be handled differently and more thoughtfully. When I was in the office, I noticed that the staff were also impatient and huffy with other campers and with other questions. When we returned to the area this September, we stayed at Big Meadows Campground, which is not as pretty, but the amenities are all there, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great campground! Plenty of space between sites. Most of the other campgrounds
we saw were very cramped, but not this one. Tremont is on the Little River, which is great for tubing. Campground has plenty of shade. It is about 30 minutes or so from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We will stay here again when visiting the Smoky Mountains. Owners were very nice and helpful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Sites were very uneven and the hookups were at the front of site leaving little room to back in. Rest rooms were fairly clean, but very old and in need of a new coat of paint. The plumbing in the bathrooms was very poor, if you were in the shower and someone flushed - stand by for some cold water. The pool and river were great and this was a fun place to explore the smokies. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Good - bathrooms and showers clean. Bad - Sites were mostly dirt. A little rain made our site a muddy mess. Located on main road out of National Park. At times, loud traffic. Female owner/manager was especially rude. When I went to the camp store to buy ice and firewood, she made me feel like I was an inconvenience to her and taking up her important time. I ended up driving to another store for these items the rest of our trip. If you can, stay elsewhere. We camped here in a Tent.

Large level sites. Very close to Smoky Mountains National Park. Very clean park. We camped here in a camper.
We camped here for 4 days. We first had a riverside campground but decided we wanted to stay 2 more days, so we moved to another site. Since we were the only ones in a pop-up and I assume the motorhome users have bathroom facilities, I practically had the bathroom and shower to myself! It was immaculate and I felt very comfortable and safe. Since this is small campground, it is very quiet and geared towards couples or older adults. The only problem was the campsite we moved to was under a walnut tree so we heard the occasional thunking on the roof of the nuts! We enjoyed our stay very much and I would stay here again. It's close to a grocery store and restaurants and the entrance to Cades Cove at the park. Very nice place and reasonable. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a pleasant little campground located right near the entrance to the Smokey mountains. The sites are small and very close together, but the place is clean and well kept. There are only two pull through sites and one of them is very short. Big rigs will fit, but you will be pressed for space. No laundry on site but there is a new laundromat less than 1/2 mile away. Also close to a new grocery store. Of course, the greatest factor in this parks favor is the location. You are less than 5 minutes from the entrance to the Smokey Mountain National Park and 10 minutes away from the Foothills Parkway. Cell phone service in the park is very spotty and you may have not be able to get reception inside your rig. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a small park along the Little River and at the dam spillway. It is small but very clean, well manicured and a with a wonderful manager. There is no pool or access to the river for tubing because of the dam, however within a block you can tube all day from one of the tubing companies for $8.00. This park offers no playground, if you are camping with small children you might look at one of the larger campgrounds in town. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Small, but very nice. This is a beautiful park that is well-maintained. Great for families, even though they do not have a pool, there is swimming and fishing allowed in the river. Jackie and family keep everything running smoothly, and keep the park clean and quiet. There isn't a store on site, but everything you need is very close and even within walking distance from the park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
