There are few shaded sites available and those have only minimal shade provided by small, younger trees. Their website describes the sites as "spacious" but this couldn't be any further from the truth. They are tiny and they pack people in like sardines, leaving lots of empty spaces between rigs. There is one very nice staff member but the manager is down-right rude and in need of customer service training. Overall, the park is clean; however, the pool is not so we loved that we had access to the river. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was our first RV park to stay at after purchasing our fifth-wheel, and we did not know how lucky we were at the time... We have since stayed at many different RV parks, and none have been as accomodating, friendly, or well-managed - since. The folks at Pioneer care about their customers. They take pride in each and every site, and they make sure your stay is as pleasant as it can be. The river is in full view from most of the sites. The swimming pool is always a joy. The Hot Tub is well-maintained. You can walk to town in five minutes and enjoy a hot meal. Well... I could go on and on... it is just the best RV park we stayed at to date. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
In spite of the other 2006 rating, I took a chance on this park because it had wireless. Had no problems, easy to get in and out. Paid $132 for the week + $16 electricity. Very clean restrooms. Has a pool, but didn't check it out. Very close to downtown Bandera, but off the highway (no noise). Has several spaces with view of the Medina River. Office is sparse for supplies and food, but town is easy walk. I believe this used to be a Jellystone park some years back. I would go back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Pioneer in Bandera, associated with Pioneer in Aransas Pass, is totally the opposite and is inhabited by permanents in some old rigs. People left for work at 5am. The only “Resort” is in their name. Parking is crowded and on grass/dirt. “Shaded RV spaces” are few. We didn’t even unhitch. But free WiFi and cable were outstanding. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great park to stop and smell the roses (cactus). The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and you never feel watched and are available 24 hours a day. The owners deliver mail directly to your site. We came to stay for a week to rest up from traveling, and decided to have our week converted to a monthly stay. while here we were able to make online purchases for delivery and our mail sent. While here, we made side trips to Hondo, San Antonio, Kerrville, Medina and Boerne. The sites are large enough not to have to unhook the tow dolly and still plenty of room to park the car. There are enough things to see and do in the area that you can stay as busy as you want or not at all. This park is also a horse motel and while here there were horses boarded and they enjoyed a daily carrot and we enjoyed them. A real diamond in the rough, located in historic Texas. We will definitely stay here again when in the area in the future. A side trip to Mamacita's restaurant in Kerrville is a must. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice, quiet spacious campground. Cosy clubhouse with fireplace. Laundry and hot showers available. Super nice and helpful owners who really make you feel welcome. They went out of their way to help us with our cell phone problem, even letting us use their cell phone. While we were there they had a BBQ which was free to the campers. Afterwards there were about a dozen local musicians who entertained us. We had planned on staying two days, but we were enjoying ourselves so much we ended up staying four days. When in the area we will certainly return. They are Passport America so there is more of an incentive to return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
There is nothing wrong with this park, but there's nothing spectacular about it either. The sites are a decent size, the staff is friendly, and the grounds are well-maintained. It is quiet. There is nothing about it that would prevent us from visiting again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice park and things not deserving of a higher rating are the gravel, somewhat un-level sites and no wifi although many in our rally group (140 trailers) were "hijacking" wifi from a nearby residence or business. Lots of shade trees in the older section and very close to downtown Bandera. Eleven miles from Medina and the famous Cider mill and the Medina Apple Pies! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We have stayed at this campground several times. The staff is absolutely wonderful & family operated. They are meticulous down to the last detail! They take you via golf cart to the various available sites to let you select which one you prefer. The campground does cater to the senior set, but we're baby boomers & still enjoyed it. They provide games, snacks & meals in the rec room, on certain days. You can also walk down to the river or use their wonderful building that houses their exercise equipment & a large assortment of books to choose from. The laundry room is also located there, along with small private rooms which are available for those who wish to paint or do some kind of crafting. Wonderful campground! We'll be back! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Really liked the park, the town of Bandera and the hill country area. Accepts Passport America and TACO. Very clean, well-maintained bathroom/showers and laundry room. Extremely friendly, helpful owners/staff; we were only there a few days and they knew us by name. During our stay they hosted a terrific BBQ dinner for their winter Texans (and the rest of us). Easy day trips to San Antonio. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Really nice park! Nice nature walk down to the river. They cater to older people. Very
quiet and pretty. We'll definitely come back. The free cable is great too. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
