Well cared for campground. Most sites are concrete. A number of long term renters. Bathrooms are nice enough, and the laundry is very nice. The pool is solar heated, which means it was cold. Hot tub was not working the first 2 days we were here. Relatively quiet, a little road noise. Very convenient for entry to Mustang Island or North Padre Island. Shopping convenient. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We picked this park for the proximity to Mustang Island for the birding. We were very pleased with the park and all its facilities. We had one of the deluxe sites, we parked on concrete, had a patio, picnic table and BBQ grill. We didn't go in the pool, but it looked nice. The laundry was quite big with carts to transfer your clothes. The ladies in the office were very friendly and helpful, each and every time I approached with another question. There is an HEB grocery store just down the street and WalMart is less than a mile away. We will definitely be returning here again when we return next fall. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is terrible. The gravel sites are very uneven and we could smell sewage near our site. There was also a cat urine odor, as well as cigarette butts and dog feces everywhere. The pool was not clean. We camped here for one night and did not feel safe, so we stayed in our camper and left early the next morning. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be a pleasant campground. The sites are no closer together than most parks. The office staff was extremely helpful. When we arrived I asked if our reserved site had shade and was told it didn't. One of the ladies drove me around in a golf cart to show me which sites were available, and I was able to choose one that was shady. Most of the sites did offer shade. The campground was about 20 minutes from Padre Island, which wasn't much of a beach. We would stay at this campground again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the most crowded RV park we have been in. Forget about putting out your awnings. Very unfriendly park, mostly permanent residents, unsightly rigs and campers. Not close to much and very noisy due to traffic. Definitely not as advertised, if you read their website it must have been written by the owner. Have been RVing since 2007 and would never come back here. Much nicer parks around. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our rate was Good Sam plus the new $5.00 1 time discount through Good Sam. The park was clean nice friendly people, our sight was a small pull through on gravel. There were a lot of dogs, but well behaved, also there were a lot of cats that belong to the the long term residents. My wife and I have been there before and will go back again. This time we notice several campers had children, they were mostly in one area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We pulled in and the staff were quite friendly. The park is clean and we decided to stay for a week. By the 2nd day we regretted paying for a week. Wi-Fi was slow on a consistent basis. Dog area is very small, and every time we were there (4 to 5 times a day) there was waste from other people's dogs. We stopped using it. Bathrooms were iffy: clean 'enough' for me but not my partner. Showers were adequate if you went shortly after it was cleaned. Water pressure was very low; toilets had trouble flushing at times and twice I could barely wash my hands of soap. We did not have a tow vehicle, and there was really nothing to see in walking distance or biking (schools and fast food areas); however, only 3 blocks from major food store HEB. Lastly this isn't a complaint but more of a concern. One resident has many cats (at one point I saw at least 4 full grown and 5 kittens) and cat bowls of food/water on the site. Cats started to come onto our site and of course excited our dogs at times. Went to the office, and they said we are the first to complain. We informed them it's a concern as well as a health issue to have so many stray cats attracted to that site. They didn't appear to want to address the issue. Kittens are cute, though. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were going to spend the winter at Colonia, but found the "Winter Texans" to be so snobbish and cliquish we looked for another park. Getting a seat at the pot luck dinners is hard because "the group" save seats for their buddies and even save seats for friends who don't even live in the park! The cable TV is below par and the Wi-Fi is on, off, weak, and not dependable. The management raised the rates this year and probably will again next year. It's an adequate park, but the snobbish winter Texans ruined it for us and I'm sure many others, too. The rate shown was for a month. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Thank you for the opportunity to stay at this park. No place is perfect; too many people complain about too many things. This park is well managed with owners on site daily and an extremely well informed office staff. The owners and their employees are most friendly. Many activities are planned and well attended. some sites are not as large as others. The staff will work with you as much as possible to find a satisfactory site. There are some permanent residents. Mostly winter Texans who make a grand exit in April; most returning again in Oct. Clean restrooms, showers adequate, (only because of low water pressure). There is a swimming pool and hot tub. A laundry is on site. There is nearby shopping and, of course,the entrance to Padre Island is only ten minutes away. The wi-fi is slow but is being continually worked on to improve the service. There are many dogs, and yes, some people are neglectful about picking up after their pets. Very friendly winter Texans. We will be returning again this year for the experience of greeting old friends and meeting new. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park apparently was voted a "Best in America" park and advertises highest rated park in Corpus Christi. I would disagree with this honor. While the park is more than adequate in amenities advertised we've stayed in much nicer/cleaner parks at lesser (regular) cost, and some of the amenities are flawed. The restroom/shower room A/C was not working entire time of our stay: 4 nights. And water pressure was quite low. Electricity was poor. Electrical lines are not thick enough for a park of this size and cannot handle all the campers' needs, i.e: A/C, fridge electric, microwave and coffee pot. A pigtail plugged into 50 amp helped a bit for our 30 amp needs but still, with just A/C our voltage regulator was borderline with unsafe (in the red). So we kept our fridge on LP, made coffee with A/C off, etc. Pool is very small and bottom has some rough spots: husband's toe got cut. Staff was fairly friendly/helpful but not overly so, especially when I asked if Passport America rate was still $14-$18.50/night per the directory. Rates are not what are quoted in the Passport America 2011 book. Regular rate to date is $32 for gravel, $40 for cement. Our $20 rate reflects their P.A. discount Without the 50% discount we would not have stayed here. Dogs barking were annoying but as an animal lover figured it's the owners' fault. Overall, the park was OK, average. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Although they advertise "80'", concrete slabs part of the 80 feet is down hill and unless you have levelers that extend 4 feet you don't want to believe it for some sites. We had a "pull through" but had to disconnect because the turn to get into the site was too tight and we couldn't pull far enough forward without the front end going down hill. The long time residents of the park felt they didn't need to abide by the "7.5 mph" speed limit that was posted throughout the park nor did they slow down much for the speed bumps. I'm sure the local shock absorber companies do a land slide business in this area. They were easily doing 30 mph down our "street"! There were many people out walking their dogs and the cars flew by them like they had no business being out in the park. Unbelievable. This park is good for a few days stay but we wouldn't stay here for an extended period. It would probably be safer to camp out in the median on the interstate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 months, Jan/Feb/Mar 2011. I put nightly rate in as $50 but don't really know as we paid by the month. We really enjoyed staying at this campground. People were friendly and very helpful. Campground was clean and well taken care of. Many organized activities and everyone was open for new ideas. The only thing we didn't like was the endless Texas wind, which the campground had no control over. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The facilities are nice and there are a lot of activities in the campground. We picked a drive-through site that was cement, long and level. Utilities were well spaced and sewer was downhill (why do so many other campgrounds have uphill sewers connections and long reaches for water and electric?). The cable TV was clear with a lot of channels. The WI-FI signal was very weak at our site, so we opted not to pay the extra $4/day for what we felt might be poor service. The fellow campers were friendly. Expect to see a LOT of dog walking. We felt very safe with the Fire Department and Police Department within a couple of blocks. The campground is also positioned well for area sights and services. Our only disappointment was the office staff. We paid $28.80 per night, which was the Good Sam rate. We have stayed here before, but will probably try a different campground near Aransas Pass on our next visit to the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a clean, cramped RV park. It is OK for a short term stay. The sites are small and you have little room to spread out. If you have a pet, you will deal with the nasty prickers that are in the grass almost everywhere. One bad thing about the park is the constant sound of what seems to be a diesel generator, 24/7 from the lot next door. You may have to close your window just to tone it down. It is a little like water torture. We had planned to stay for the winter, but the humming from the noise and the semi-city location was not what we wanted. The road in front of the RV is fairly busy and a little rough to get in and out of the park. The worst thing about this park is that it is located next to a cell tower. For a short term stay this would be OK, but for long term, the EMF radiation is probably not healthy. Doing a search on antennasearch.com, you will see that this entire area is a hot bed for towers. There are 50 of them close to the park, with the cell tower less than 50' from the park. This is not a healthy area and certainly not a vacation destination. This park is close to good shopping and is a light city area. I don't agree that this should be listed in bestparksinamerica.com, but that is a good selling feature for the owners. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The Colonia Del Rey RV Park is just "okay"...it is clean, sites are fairly level. (They insist you park your coach to the back and park your 'toad' in front.) However, it is only a mile from the Naval Air Station, so many of the campers here are permanent and there is much traffic early morning and evening hours. The Hot tub was out of order, due to vandalism; thus giving us a uneasy sense about our neighbors. The Park guide you receive when checking is is very misleading as 3 of the 4 pictures are of the actual park, the forth is of the ocean and beach. Which you can not get to without getting in your car and driving to it. The whole 'feel' to the park is cold, as though you are an outsider and we even are retired military with the bumper sticker that says so. I rate this one a C+ and probably will not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A decent park. We were here for four nights and toured the area each day by Jeep. Lots to see and do around the CP area. WiFi is available here but only for a fee, so we used our Verizon card. This is a nice park. A little tight on space, but well-maintained. The nicest thing about the park is it's manager. She is one of the most pleasant managers we've ever dealt with. Friendly, helpful, great sense of humor. Her volunteer staff is also made up of really neat women. We stayed for the month of April: cost was $385.00 plus electricity. Would stay here again. Nice park. paved streets and small patios. The swimming pool is the smallest I've ever seen in an RV park. There is also a hot tub. The Wi-Fi was good. Our spot was very long and wide, not all are. There seemed to be a lot of people that stay there either full time or seasonally. There were huge trees over us so we didn't get satellite reception but our Verizon worked well. The park is very convenient to Mustang Island and shopping. There is a HEB within walking distance. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Roads in park are cement and in good shape. Our site was pull thru, long, wide, level, cement pad, had a table, BBQ cooking equipment, cable TV with lots of channels, 50 amps, water and sewer. We also had lots of trees, plants and flowers around the site. Staff was helpful at check in and will take you to your site. Other sites are a mixed bag of dirt, gravel and grass. Staff will try to place you in the correct site to fit your unit. Small playground equipment for kids. Small dog walk inside a fence near front of park. Short drive to beaches from here. Fi-Wi was $4.00 per day and we did not use it. You will have road noise if you are near the front of park. Everything you may need like H.E.B., Wal-Mart and places to eat are close by. Lots to see and do in this city. Verizon cell and air card worked well here. A nice park to visit. Rates were a mix of Good Sam and Passport. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park to spend time in if visiting the Corpus Christi area. It has easy access to many of the sites in the area. The park is a little crowded and takes some tricky maneuvering to get a large rig into the site and get out. There are a lot of long term trailers in the park. Very friendly staff. We were traveling through Texas on the way to Arizona and decided to stay at Colonia Del Rey. We ended up staying an extra day here. It was very nice and the people were very friendly and informative. Great restrooms, laundry, and pool area. Would definitely stay here again for a longer period if in the area. This is an older and VERY TIRED campground. Very cramped sites. a few concrete pads but many sites are gravel. Too cold to use the pool, but 8 people overcrowd it - no more than 10' x 18'. We spent a week here, but I would hesitate to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We took one of their premium spots which equates to a nice concrete pad with 50 amp hookups. Good spacing between rigs in this area but the less expensive spots were very crowded. As mentioned in another review the park roads are narrow for navigation. Warning - There are power lines running over the park and one of the lines is only 15 ft high. I climbed the roof ladder and had I not taken a look up at the top would have stood up directly into the line. The interference from the power lines has limited Verizon coverage too. Pros - Suburb location across bridge from Padre Island; 3 blocks from supermarket and gas; Excellent laundry facility with clean industrial machines. Cons - Loud neighbors and day time air traffic from NAS; low power lines; tight navigation of rig. Overall - we originally planned on staying 2 weeks but changed our mind and will only stay the 1. An okay park for short stays. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The park was okay, easy check in, a lady escorted me to my site. Some interesting residents. I'm really upset that the Coast to Coast rate is 25.00, the regular rate is 28.00! This was our first time staying at an RV park in Corpus Christi, Texas. The people are very friendly. All the shopping you would want is close by. Good fishing areas and beaches are also close. We would definitely recommend this RV park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a Coast to Coast rate. Like other reviewers: the amount of permanent residents seemed concerning at first, but their sites were kept up and very clean. Staff here was very friendly and took the time to give us advice on local eateries, etc. I also have to agree that this place was very tight for pulling a camper. We camped here in a 38' 5th wheel and if that end spot on the curve heading out to the exit had been occupied when we left, I think I would still be trapped there!! The bathhouse facilities were extremely clean (cleaned every morning in fact). They have individual bathrooms containing the toilet/showers/sinks that I thought was great and they had A/C. Being August, this was a plus! This park is also a little off the Corpus Christi "beaten path" which we liked. I gave this place an 8 due to the tight spots and paying for Wi-Fi. In 2009: I don't think anyone should be paying for Wi-Fi, and that includes hotels too. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

After staying one night at this park, my opinion about it changed a little bit. At first, I was turned off by the amount of permanenet residents living there (as their sites were NOT maintained very well and had quite a bit of stuff laying around), however, the staff was very friendly, the public grounds were adequately maintained, and the atmosphere was charming. I spoke to many of the park guests... no one had a negative thing to say about the park. The spaces are very narrow. One of the staff seemed put out by my truck being in the road DURING HOOKUP to leave, so this is why I rated the park as an 8. Otherwise, our stay was great! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the Passport America rate. I thought the interior roads were narrow. There are a lot of long term/seasonal/workers living in the park, not a negative, but lot's of them. I stayed in a pull through, trees and narrow roadway made it difficult to pull my 40' motor home out. It took some work. The Park is clean, and staff is friendly. All that being said, I would come here again, but be more selective as to what space I am assigned. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were disappointed in this campground. The sites were helter-skelter like a tornado had set them all down. Many of the sites were extremely close. Extra charge for wifi. We had a premium site for $37 and there was nothing premium about it. We were there two days and none of the other campers acknowledged us even though we always waved. We stayed at this campground for 13 nights. Although the campground is not situated in a very nice part of Corpus Christi, it was close to all areas around the city. The site itself was level but like the rest of the campground it was not eye appealing. Everyone was extremely friendly in the campground but there were many permanent residents. The showers and bathrooms were very clean, the cable worked fine but WiFi was not included in the price although it was available. There is a large Heb and smaller WalMart within walking distance. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park and dog friendly - great management and facilities. Many activities to do in the park including a dance, morning walks, and bbq's. Ended up staying in a Premium Daily Spot due to the cheaper ones not being large enough for 3 slide-outs and size of our rig - nice level concrete slab but slots are extremely close to one another and there is quite a bit of road noise 24/7 including police cars and fire engines. May want to try a spot in the middle or back if you stay. Camped here in a fifth wheel - may or may not stay here again. Definitely the nicest campground we have visited in the Corpus area. We stayed at Colonia Del Ray for 5 months. The park is located within a short drive to the beach. It is a clean and friendly park. Sites vary depending on rig and price you want to pay,some concrete slab some gravel. The showers were very nice. Basically they are 5 or 6 small individual bathrooms with a toilet and shower and sink,all well maintained. Good laundry room with plenty of washers and driers. There is a clubhouse which hosts many parties etc. Office staff were friendly and helpful. Pool is nice and open most of the time. Free cable service with a decent selection of channels. Wifi is through Wireless Web and is patchy. Sites are fairly spacious and well maintained with electric, water and sewer. Some of the sites are located close to the main road and can be quite noisy. There is a small dog area but nowhere to walk the dogs except around the park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

An urban RV park, not scenic, but in an area of low development. Quiet, well-managed. Only a few miles south of the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station (where our son is at present) and practically on top of the bridge over the Intercoastal Waterway to Mustang and Padre Island. We felt the security was good, the bathrooms were outstanding and the staff helpful. Obviously the place is geared to snowbirds judging by the activities listed for those months (and we are told it is hard to get into). We stayed approximately 3-weeks in May into June and were pleased by the location. CC is a small city and very easy to get around. This park is only a few minutes from the best shopping in the city and it was very easy to take day trips to the outlying areas. The pool was closed during our stay. We were parked near the front gate (handy) in the overnighters spots. The breeze is great, the shade isn't but South Texas is hot wherever one is. Several CC residents (and RV techs) stated they thought it the better of the CC RV parks (less amenities offered by some others). We didn't want to camp next to the beach, but were never constrained in access. Keep expectations reasonable, this is an excellent park overall. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We originally reserved for 3 nights enroute to north Houston area to visit a nephew. Being Passport America members we did receive the discount although the price was higher than the latest Passport America book indicated. After the first night, we found out that our nephew, being a commercial pilot would have to fly the day we intended to arrive. This parks no refund policy is very strict. We would advise all rv'ers to reserve nightly unless absolutely sure of the length of their stay. The sites are very narrow, but the plus side is they are paved and clean. Will not return because they don't understand they are in the rv park business and we rv'ers are always on the move. Management would be better suited for a mobile home park. We stayed here the month of March in a fifth wheel on site #2. The staff is very helpful and nice, they never treat you like you are a bother to them. The place is very clean. The hot tub is hot and clean. Pool could use a pool heater due to cool nights. Sites are roomy for this part of TEXAS. Near all major stores. Great fishing from shore or boat. As a previous poster mentioned, "there are numerous folks living in this park". However, that same poster also indicated that there were "piles of junk around their trailers and RV's". This is no longer (and maybe never was) totally accurate. While about 8 sites in the back of this park are a bit on the "rough" side, there are most certainly not "piles of junk" anywhere in this park. This is a nice park with mostly level concrete patios and sites and the staff is very friendly. The downside here is that the sites are VERY narrow (mine was less than 18 feet wide), the park could have been designed a bit better (some sites are tricky to get into), the pool is a bit small (get 8 people in it, and it's crowded), and the rate is a bit high. Our daily rate of $27 was only because we paid for a week. Otherwise, it would have been much higher. All in all this is a nice park and we'd stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park was a disappointment, based on prior reviews. We stayed a month before moving down to the RGV. Managers and employees were very distant, we observed little or no warmth in their attitudes. The park is in need of a lot of "TLC". It has too many old rundown RV's in the park that had a lot of "junk" sitting around the trailers. In the month we were there, no grass was cut nor was there any visible maintenance completed other than the pool and hot-tub. A "junk" parking lot at the rear of the park is very visible. Many of the back street sites are gravel as well as their vehicle parking. This causes a lot of mud tracking. This could be a very pretty park with good management and a heavy effort on cleanup. We have mixed feelings about this facility. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, which alleviated some of the negative aspects of the place. It's less than a block away from a fire department station, so the siren noise as the trucks left the station got really annoying after 3 weeks. We were located right at the front of the park, in what they called the daily sites. These were very close together, but we did have a patch of grass outside the door. Other sites further back had only concrete and rocks. There are numerous folks living in this park, as evidenced by the piles of junk around their trailers and RV's. You wouldn't see the junky places unless you walked around to the back section of the park. We probably won't go back. We felt it was quite expensive for the small, tight sites, especially after we found a place a mile or so away with huge sites and big trees for much less. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This one is very nice. It's not hard to find and the place was very clean and well maintained. The office staff was very helpful and friendly and we checked in on a day when the weather wasn't nice, but they still were cheery and led us to our site. At first it looks to be a bit crowded, but there isn't any problem getting a big rig around in the park and even though you might be close to your neighbor, there isn't much noise. Plenty of Winter Texans use this one. There are some permanants and some park models, but every site is well landscaped and kept tidy. The only drawback is it's a bit pricey for the area, but I guess you get what you pay for and it does have the amenities. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed in this park over the weekend prior to the 4th of July. The only negative that I can think to say about it is that it is not particularly convenient to downtown Corpus Christi, although it is convenient to the beaches and local shopping is very convenient. The best part of this park is the staff. Even though we came in a couple of hours after the office closed, we were greeted by a couple of hosts who opened the office, checked us in, and led us to our site in a golf cart. They also provided lots of good advice on things to do and places to eat. The park has a nice feel - it's primarily a full time park or monthly park with a limited number of short stay sites, but the result is like being in a neighborhood. The permanent sites are very well maintained, you are much more likely to see big pots of flowers on the permanent sites rather than old cars on blocks. Lot's of landscaping, nice pool, even a large hot tub. We'll be back to this place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice park, but packed in a bit tight, usually between people that are staying seasonally. Modem hookup is in laundry building, and you usually have people waiting to use it (only one hookup). Lots of grown trees, shading the area. This is good, normally, but not during rain--as it tends to be muddy in the shady spots. 4 roomy private restrooms/showers (one toilet, sink, shower behind a closed locked door)--that were always clean. But, as seems usual in RV parks--no soap provided for washing your hands. Probably the closest park in Corpus Christi to the bridge to Padre Island.

This campground gets 4 W's in Woodall's and I can't understand why.I was pretty shocked when I saw it. The host was very friendly and nice and told us that many first- time visitors are put off by the "trailer court" look of the park. (I know I certainly was.)
It was a very small park and we were given a narrow spot to park and were soon hemmed in by 2 other rigs. It was a tight fit. Another really annoying feature were the speed bumps. I also thought it was a pretty steep price for the night. I think we will look for another park when visiting Corpus Christi. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an older park located close to everything in Corpus Christi and area. It has had some upgrades and the pull-through sites for short term guests look very nice. The park has some longer term guests and a large group of Winter Texans. These occupy the back-ins around the edge. They also have a few sites parallel to the entrance road. Quite unique. Services are convenient. Wi-Fi starts fast but deteriorates to very slow. They do have several hot spots with adequate signal but all are slow. We would stay again if in the area but would reserve ahead to get a new pull through. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Clean, older park located in town. It is a good location to get to the Corpus Christi attractions. Felt safe in the park but didn't walk the neighborhood outside the park. Rate reflects AAA discount. Stayed there for three nights. Place is average, Wi-Fi is working OK (negative: it's an unsecured Wi-Fi). Restrooms/Showers are a bit old but they get cleaned daily. They've got a recreation room with some fitness equipment and a few games like an air hockey table but both seem a little old, too. Didn't use either. Sites are grassy with a concrete porch. There are a lot of permanents which leads to some traffic noise early in the morning when everybody leaves for work (and in the evening when they return). Located in one of the oldest areas of Corpus Christi is an older but nice large park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our site was a concrete pull through, long enough for our 38’ 5th wheel, large pickup, and small car. Although the sites were somewhat close, they were staggered so there wasn't a feel of crowding. There was a concrete patio pad for the steps and a picnic table at each site. There is a store with some RV supplies and snacks, a pool, laundry, and a club house with workout room. There wasn't much planned activity. The park had good cable TV (with local service) and Wi-Fi. Our AT&T cell phones and air card worked well. Rate for the month was $400 + electricity. We felt safe in the park and wouldn’t rule out staying here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are long and the level concrete pads are a little tight, but not unbearable. Campers are very friendly. Afternoon social and cards at night is about the extent of the activities. Water pressure and utilities are good. Cable TV is all snow and no local channels. You can get a few local channels on antenna, but not all. Wi-Fi is strong, but they ask that you don't Skype or stream video. Pool area is not well maintained and not heated. Only a few broken chairs around pool. For an old park (built in 1933) its not bad. We had a long level, concrete pull through long enough for our 40' trailer, 22' truck (unhitched) and car with room to spare. We lived here for 18 months and enjoyed the park very much. It was amazingly quiet for being in the middle of downtown Corpus. The park management was very friendly and our neighbors were considerate and neighborly. There is a grocery store less than a mile away. The only thing that might give some people pause is that the park borders a cemetery. However, this accounts for the quiet neighborhood! We spent 3 nights at Hatch RV Park. The entrance is a little steep, we didn't have a problem with our 32' FW but from the looks of the road many have. Office staff was polite upon check in and provided a package of fliers of things to do in the area. The site was very clean and accessible, however the grass has horrible stickers in it. No fenced dog run, but a large area is provided to walk your dogs around in under trees. This park is mostly resident occupied, but the residents are quiet and it was not a bother to us. Laundry room was clean and kept cool with excellent WiFi availability. Interior roads are paved but have several rough speed bumps, sites are paved with small patios and picnic tables. Couldn't hear any road noise, campground runs along a graveyard, one resident did tell us to keep our bikes tightly secured due to the local high school kids. Overall a good place to stay to see local sites and visit family, wouldn't choose as a place to just camp out. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The Wi-Fi Internet was excellent. The pull-through sites were very spacious and level. As far as Big Rig access we found maneuverability difficult. The entrance and exit were steep as evidenced by the multiple scrap marks on the street. Our hitch scraped as we entered the park. When leaving the park we had to exit via the entrance as the road leading to the exit was difficult to maneuver due to vehicles partially parked in the roadway. It seems that this park has a high number of permanent residents as evidenced by the clutter and unkempt camp sites. The park is located near downtown attractions, however, it is in an industrial area. The security of the park was an issue that ultimately prompted us to leave the park earlier than anticipated. On our second night there was an altercation between a park resident and unknown speeding vehicle. There was a verbal exchange between the two individuals that involved profanity and resulted in the resident striking the vehicle with a pipe. Upon our departure we informed the office staff of the last night's events and they seemed indifferent to the situation. That lead us to believe that this either happens frequently or the staff just didn't care. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I would NOT recommend this park because of it's poor electricity. We stayed eight days in this park in 2006. We were in a 42' M/H and the voltage was constantly fluctuating 103 to 132 volts. Rate reflects the monthly rate plus electrical. We stayed 4 months over the winter and were satisfied with our stay. Did not use the bathrooms but did use the well kept laundry facilities. The hosts are wonderful and will address issues (I had one complaint during our stay and it was immediately addressed and resolved). One previous review mentioned the odor from the bay; it is present at times but is not overwhelming. It's something that cannot be controlled, it's part of the geographical area. One thing I really did appreciate is that they allow the washing of RVs. I think this is a plus and don't understand why other park do not allow washing of rigs. We will be back next winter. We have stayed at this park for several months now and are sad to be heading out, but it's time to move on and see some other parts of Texas. That being said, we will definitely be back next summer. If you are new in town and just passing through, you will have a friend instantly with the owner and her husband; she makes you feel so welcome as though you have known her for years. This park is in a great location; you are minutes from everything. There is a marina with bait shop, and lodging (for those friends that don't have an RV and you don't want to stay with you..lol), an awesome restaurant with everything from burgers and steaks to great seafood (Laguna Reef), the beach, grocery and other shopping and much, much more. The facility itself has the best rates and cleanest restrooms/showers and laundry center you can find. There is a community room with coffee every morning, ice when you need it, and movies and books to borrow. The spaces are not right on top of each other, and you actually have room to BBQ and set up outside, and there is not all the hustle and bustle you have at some of the other parks in this area. It is great for getting away and relaxing. Just this last weekend they had a fish fry, and they try to have other group activities through out the year. Once you come, you will want to make this your regular Corpus stop. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Laguna Shores Village is about 20 miles from downtown Corpus Christi, where the USS Lexington, Art Museum, and Aquarium are located. The hosts are very friendly, and the RV park provides a very Nice view of Laguna Madre. It also has free cable and Wi-Fi, and each site has full hookup. The website offers "landscaped grounds, palm & other shade trees and views of charming hummingbirds as they zip around the beautiful flowers of the thriving hibiscus garden." I saw none of these among the RV sites. The sites are narrow, but paved, most with a small picnic table on a narrow strip of grass. The sites are a bit cramped, but do-able. We were able to pull our 36' motorhome onto a pad because the site behind us was empty and we drove thru it to get to our site, and were still able to drive forward through our site when we departed. There is no pool, nor is there a playground. I think the rate was a bit pricey for what we got. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park is one of the best managed parks we have seen in more than 10 months of full timing in our motor home. Park owners are warm, friendly folks who are willing to provide just about any assistance one needs. Facilities are well cared for and clean. Great view of the Laguna Madre and Padre Island from here, with way less of the salt spray on the Gulf Coast beaches and parks. Holiday parties, fish frys with host provided red fish, trout and black drum, and poker and game nights are a blast. Rate is monthly rate and does not include electricity. I am not sure where other reviewers actually stayed. We stayed here 2011 because of a fantastic experience in 2010. Staff are the friendliest we have encountered in 4+ years of full timing. When we pulled in and were concerned that nearby tree branches might harm a new slide cover, the branches were trimmed back in 15 minutes. We got restroom keys when we arrived: restrooms were spotless. Host held a fish fry potluck, featuring the red fish and trout he caught in Laguna Madre. Delicious! They alerted us with a note on our RV door. Rates are comparable to other CG's, but this one lacks the smell of sewage treatment plants and horse manure found at other parks. Yes, the sites are close together, but other campers are so friendly. Muddy sites? We saw none. Not pet friendly? They doted on our dog. We will be back next year and probably many years to come. Ran by a man and wife: the man is very friendly and helpful; the woman was extremely friendly on the phone when making the reservation. But it pretty much ended there, she even storied to us a couple of times. The Thanksgiving Potluck had very few people, they did not post it or go around and invite anyone that I know of. We never got a key to the restrooms/showers so we have no idea what they were like. Not my idea of an RV Park: over night would be ok but a month was overkill. Rate is based on monthly rate and includes electricity. Depending what is important to a camper, this could be rated a 5 or a 10. On the negative side: there's no pool, no playground, no beach, so-so Wi-Fi that you pay for, and the sites are close together. CG is located next to a not-too-busy road. Some internal roads are gravel, others are paved; the sites are grass. On the positive side: it has the friendliest CG owners we have found in 3+ years of full-timing. They make you feel right at home. They live on-site and are there to help you, with a smile, whenever you need a hand. They helped us find a doctor when a cold struck, and directed us to stores and businesses that helped us. Super clean restrooms/showers and laundry room, great free cable TV. Located 10-15 minutes from Gulf beaches. A good schedule of activities: exercise, socials, pot-lucks with main dish provided by the owners. Down home kind of stuff, without the hired entertainers that so often are a disappointment. People return year after year, which says a lot. The campers are very friendly, respectful of each other. The nearby traffic? That’s why I wear earplugs at night. Oh, did I mention how friendly and helpful the owners and campers were? We WILL be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Not sure how this park got a rating of 10. Older park; grassed sites, some pretty muddy and very close together; lots of seasonals and permanent guests; on semi-busy road. Host/owners were very nice and super helpful. Located across the road from Laguna Madre, but no ocean view to speak of. Good power and cable TV; you have to pay for Wi-Fi ($5/day) but given the price no complaints. Okay for a few nights, but not a place I'd stay much longer. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We spent 3 days here with our RV looking out over the ocean. Priceless. This campground is very different from commercial ones and even state parks. The island is a nature preserve so you are several miles away from the bustle of town. Even though there are no hookups, there is fresh water and a dump station very close, less than half mile. The campsites were 2/3 full but it was very quiet and no children. We found most of the campers were older couples like us just enjoying walking the beach and relaxing with a good book. Generators are allowed from 6 am until 10 pm for appliances and recharging batteries. We loved the park and the solitude for a different kind of camping experience. When you head back inland to Corpus Christi be sure to stop by the USS Lexington at port for a tour. One caution for those with dogs..be sure to check their paws and undercoat for the little burs that are almost invisible and everywhere in the grass and sharp as needles. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is a great way to experience San Padre Island. The park has no services except for restrooms and cold showers. The beach side sites have a gravel pad and parking area as well as a concrete picnic table. The land side are paved sites with only a picnic table. You are allowed to camp right on the beach further down the road for free if you wish. The park is occupied by Winter Texans from November to April and does not take reservations. It is worth a phone call to make sure a space is available prior to driving out and paying the $10 entrance fee (good for 7 days) to get in to the park. This is a great place for walks, bike rides, and surf fishing. We would certainly plan a longer stay if in the area again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park on Padre Island. We camped here for four days and had a great view of the Gulf. But beware if the wind comes up and your windows are open you will get allot of sand inside your RV. Once you are at the Park, you are about 18 miles from any stores or fuel supplies so plan accordingly. Your vehicles receive allot of sand and salt from the ocean so plan to wash off once you leave the Park area. There are several car washes on the way back to Corpus Christi. We would camp here again. Price is eight dollars a night for camping with a ten dollar entrance fee to the National Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great national park on the Gulf of Mexico. Dump station and fresh water available. There is a nice clean bathhouse with cold water only. Boardwalk to the beach. Plenty of room for our big rig. This is a national park service site at Padre Island National Seashore. Sites are gravel back-ins, half facing the beach and half facing the dunes. All but 8 accommodate RVs. Most cell phones will not work unless you go through some contortions (standing on dunes, walking 1/2 mile to access road, etc.) The campground is located right on a section of beach reserved for use of campers only. Surf fisherman and snowbirds take many of the sites (there's a 14-day limit, which is enforced, but they often leave for 48 hours and then come back). No reservations. Showers are cold water only. It is usually breezy in the campground due to being only a few hundred feet from the ocean, so you should plan to wash the salt off your rig upon departing (car washes are plentiful just outside the National Seashore). No services within about 15 miles. This may all seem unwelcoming but it is a beautiful spot and a bargain at just $8 per night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The park is open. I stayed there and wrote a review in Feb 2007. I visited friends staying here in Feb and March 2012. Big grassy lots, concrete patios, nice rec room, many evening activities, stayed one month plus as a Winter Texan (cost $275.00 + electric at 0.14 cents per KWH). Walking distance (about 1/2 mile) to Walmart, HEB (grocery store), Post Office and several other stores. Surrounding neighborhood is a bit challenged, but found it to be very safe. Located at the entrance to the Corpus Christi Air Naval Station and you get the "sounds of freedom" (aircraft) at times (music to my ears). Several miles to the outer beach, fishing piers, and Padre Island National Sea Shore. I enjoyed the campground, mostly friendly retired folks spending the winter. I will probably return for a repeat performance. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I did not camp here. When checking for a longer term stay today, I had trouble getting straight information. The brochure stated a starting monthly rate of $220. Then below that was W/electricity $365, the below that she added summer $390. Then under her breath mumbled about having to sign up with the electricity company for something. As I listened to her take a call, I found out that they expect you to maintain the grass and or shrubs at your sit. She was thinking they were doing me a favor to furnish the mower and gasoline. I use Roundup to control grass. She also made it known that children are not really welcome beyond a day visit. This situation made me wonder what other things she was not being upfront about. I will not stay here with that sucker me attitude. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We found this delightful little place accidentally, as we drove around checking out the other RV resorts listed in the Trailer Life Directory. This place isn't listed there, but their flier indicates that they are listed in Woodalls and in Wheeler's TACO and ARVC. It's an older 55+ community with large grassy sites and lots if big trees and shade. The people were terrific and the whole park was lovely. They make no bones about the fact that they're an older resort, but we saw nothing run-down or in need of attention. Several permanent residents in park models, and lots of snowbirds staying there for months at a time, but no accumulations of junk or debris. The only thing that kept me from giving this a 10 was that it's just outside the entrance to the Naval Air Station, and the planes were noisy a couple times, but nothing near the frequency of the sirens from the fire station across the road from Colonia del Rey, just a mile or so away. When we go back to visit Navy family in Corpus Christi, we intend to stay here the entire time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I stayed overnight on my way to the valley, and it was fine. Concrete slab, no grass. There are dunes between the campground and the water, so you couldn't see it at all. Basic county park. I would stay again if I had children who enjoyed the beach. The staff was professional, but the office closes for a short period in the afternoon to change staff, and they didn't mention that on their website. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Not too terribly spectacular like an RV "resort" the sites are pretty much just a big giant parking lot with hookups, but the proximity to the beach and fishing pier is perfect. Just a walk over the dune and your on the beach. We will definitely return to this little park with our RV. Easy in and out with 31' TT. If your going to enjoy the beach then you'll have fun. First of all there is a $3.95 surcharge for checks or credit cards. They want cash. Lot of stairs to climb to the office and it isn't very well marked. We spent ten days at Padre Balli Park and although the showers were not always up to par, we could overlook it since the setting was so wonderful. Being right on the Gulf of Mexico was what we wanted and you sure do get that! They are redoing the administration building and fishing pier at present, so we're hoping the next time we stop we will have even more to like. You are close to everything and the traffic is not bad. The National Sea Shore is a short drive away, as well as Port Aransas and Mustang Island. Lots of great casual restaurants with good food. Snoopy's was one of our favorites. If you like being near or right on the beach, this spot is great. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Since we stayed here last, the County has raised the nightly rate about 30% with no improvements whatever. I thought 18 bucks was steep for this shabby park. The place is an asphalt parking lot with numerous pot holes. We had problems with the electrical service; not enough amperage to run either the A/C or the microwave. Park personnel suggested we change sites, but couldn't tell me which were good and which were not. Next morning a motor home pulled into a site next to ours and had the same problem with his site. He had to move, a hassle which could have been avoided had park staff known which sites were defective. Next time I go to Padre Island I'll stay at the Mustang Island State Park down the road with reliable 50-amp service for $16.00 per night. We stayed there in a fifth wheel. Nueces County operates two RV parks; one at Port Aransas (I.B. McGee Park) and one at Corpus Christi (Balli Park). This review is for Balli. Personnel were courteous and the facilities were neat and clean, but spartan. The park is an asphalt lot with picnic tables and water/electric hookups. There is a bathhouse with washer and dryer, accessible to campers only. A buoy has been installed nearby in the Gulf of Mexico which emits a "HOOT" every 20 seconds, day and night. If you're a light sleeper, this can be annoying. Camping area is protected by a row of high sand dunes, with the beach and Gulf of Mexico on the other side. Very easy walking distance. If you want to camp near the beach with hookups, this is a pretty good place to go. If you want swimming pools, clubhouses, etc. there's a place down the road for about $40 per day. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at the Bird Island Basin (BIB) campground, where all sites are first come, first served and are right up to the bay shoreline. There was only a $5 camping fee with our Golden Age Passport, ($10 without)! The pass is good for one week. No hookups but water is available nearby. The dump station is at the beach-side Malaquite campground which is an 8.4-mile round trip from BIB. If you are a windsurfer or kayaker, this is the campground for you! Cell phone reception was position-dependent but texting worked reliably. We purchased a cell phone amplifier, which allowed us to access web sites. Park staff was very friendly & helpful with lots of on-going activities. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a first come first serve campground with no hookup 50 yards away from the ocean. There is a bathhouse with showers. It is in walking distance to the Visitor Center where one will find exhibits, films, and meet for ranger tours. We took a driving birding tour for over two hours and it was excellent. The campground has an amphitheater with fire pit where Rangers give talks on a scheduled basis. There is a daily sheet with all the tours, walks and talks given by the Rangers. At this campground there are 43 RV sites, 7 for compact vehicles and 26 sites for tent camping many right on the beach. There is another campground right on the bay but it is smaller but the bay is better for wind surfing and kayaking. If you have an America the Beautiful pass you don’t pay a fee to get into the park and you get 50% off camping fees so we paid $4.00. If you want to camp on the beach south of the Visitor Center it is free but don’t get stuck it will cost $1000 to get pulled out. Padre Island is a great birding site for those migrating in the spring and fall. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Loved this place for its location, quietness, fresh sea breeze and the sound of the waves. Showers and Restrooms are quite new and get cleaned daily. Sites are level and come with a grill. Yes, there are no hookups but the dump station just outside the campground is very easy to access. For 8 USD per night I think this is great value, I can definitely recommend this place. Campground host is helpful but don't rely on his information about how to treat stings by jelly fish - better get informed beforehand. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

I would give the park a higher score but we visited during a red tide episode. That meant dead fish on the beach and an aerosol that irritated the throat. Yes, we were warned but unless you experience it you don't realize how bad it is. By the 2nd night we were coughing all night. That said, it's a great park right on the beach. They should do something about the lights at the visitor center and bathrooms to cut down on light pollution, but that's the only problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed with our family of 9 and enjoyed this CG more than some with full hookups. The location was good, absence of crowds was excellent and proximity to the visitors center was reasonable (about a 15 min walk on the beach, or 5 minute drive). Newly remodeled showers and bathrooms- the showers are cold water- which didn't keep us away. Dump facility is just outside of the CG, but an easy move every couple of days. CG host met us as we drove in and was helpful with site, local info. The 'regulars' invited us to a fish fry the day after we arrived, there's definitely a group that returns here often. One of our favorite places to boon-dock. Primitive and natural. No hookups means no crowds. Plenty of solitude and sand dollars on the beach. The sounds of the ocean will lull you to sleep. Stargazing is good though we did notice some light pollution from Corpus Christi. Sand isn't too bad and what does come inside can easily be swept or vacuumed out. Yes, there's salt spray, but that's to be expected. Ghost crabs like to crawl into things, so don't leave your shoes outside. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a gem of a place to stay. GORGEOUS views of the ocean and beach. Quiet. Nice volunteer hosts keep an eye on things. And CHEAP! No hookups, but dump station and fill water on the way in and out. It's a long way to town and civilization, but worth it to stay here, even in stormy weather. Daily guided beach hikes and ranger talks make it interesting and educational. One of the nicest locations we've stayed at. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The national park has 5 miles of open beach camping – no hookups, but they do have a public bath house (with cold water only). The rate is $10.00 for ten days. Quote from NPS Web Page: "Semi-primitive, providing only toilets, rinse showers, picnic tables and 50 designated sites (8 sites are for tent camping only, 26 are for tent or RV camping, and 16 are for RV's only). This campground is in a very bad part of town. We were worried about staying here when we first arrived but we did manage to stay for 3 nights even though we paid for 5 and there are no refunds. The sites were so close together that it was not possible to sit outside comfortably. The neighborhood had dogs which roamed around freely and that barked for long periods of time during the night. The campground was right by the Bay of Corpus Christi which had an overwhelming smell similar to sewage most of the time we were there. There was no beach access and there were signs posted by the police that trespassers will be arrested. The washrooms were clean but extremely run down and the pool was not inviting. On the plus side, management was extremely friendly and inviting. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV park was friendly and well maintained. Check in was fast and easy and we were escorted to our site. Sites are long and have full hookups, pool, laundry and rec hall with large screen TV and exercise equipment. Friday evenings there is a "bring your own BBQ" to put on the grill and eat with other residents. This is a small park with a lot of long term residents. It is close to the water but there is no access and the beach is a marsh so you can't walk on it anyway. It was O K. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Here is another park we have been staying at since 2007. Small park but very friendly, very helpful and caring staff and we have made lots of Canadian and US friends there over the last years. Facilities are well maintained and clean the view is of the Bay and there is a pier for walking to the shoreline. Lots of Major stores near ( between 5 to 15mins ) but still has the country feel. Clubhouse features potlucks and Saturday Breakfasts also truck races, crafts, cards, puzzles, and some workout equipment. The lots are in cement and they have grass and gravel sites too. We paid $285.00 for grass and gravel plus electric, a great place to get away from those large hustle and bustle RV parks. We will be back for next winter season. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is located next to a water/sewage treatment facility. When the wind blows from the southeast, the foul smell is very strong. We picked this park thinking that because it is located near the water and a lighted fishing pier, the fishing would be good. Unfortunately, the stench from the treatment facility was so disgusting that we left very early the next morning. I would not recommend staying at this RV park unless you like the smell of stench. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We did not stay at this park. When we pulled in around noon, there was a note on the door of the office, saying they would return in about an hour. There was also no instructions what to do if no one was there to check you in. We pulled around and parked in an empty spot to wait until the office opened up again. The office person came by our unit after about an hour, at which time we had decided that we were not going to stay. The main reason was this park is right next to a waste water treatment plant, and with the wind blowing in any direction: whew!!! We would not recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was run by very friendly staff. The sites are all pull through, but very narrow. They were hard to access as the roadways were also very narrow. We were crammed in like sardines. The campground is in a very poor part of Corpus Christi and backed onto the raw sewage plant for the city. It was bad enough that we could not open our windows or door and it was quite warm there. The ratings in the Trailer Life Directory were deceiving. I would not recommend this RV Park to anybody. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Management is friendly. In the same neighborhood (next door)as Marina Village RV Park. The neighborhood is challenged. I have stayed at both as a Winter Texan. Recreation room is on stilts so you can see the bay. Premium sites are pull thru, full concrete. Basic sites are grass. Operationally, I had no problems with any of their services. No train or road noise. Naval aircraft randomly fly over, this is not noise to me. Walking distance to a public fishing pier. I probably would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is a mixed bag. On the positive side, the staff is friendly. Where we were located, there are some concrete pads, both pull-throughs and back-ins, with patios and picnic tables. Our site was pretty level. The negatives start the surrounding area which is very run down. Campground buildings are also a little run down. The majority of the regular sites are grass and gravel and many of those are very close together. Many of the sites, even in the preferred area where we were, are too short for very long fifth wheels and tow vehicles to park head to toe. We, as well as our neighbors, had to park our tow vehicles perpendicular to our RV's and we could barely get them off the roads that traverse between the rows of campers. This was our fifth choice on a list of already filled campgrounds in the area and if we could get into any of the others in the future, we would probably not return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I agree with one of the other reviews- go somewhere else. It is very loud here with trash/junk scattered around other sites. The woman at the desk seems to put people in the sites closest to the freeway with obstructed views even though there were better sites available. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Go somewhere else. The only positive about this park is the bay view. The roads in the park were more mud than gravel. After being directed to a site, we discovered fire ants around the drain. We requested another site and were directed to another. After about three hours, we were asked to move back to the original site, because of a "clerical error". We told management there we other site available and were told they were booked. Three days later, the empty sites were still empty. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is not what the web site implies. It's dirty, cramped, "low" class, junky, just an old unkempt "fishing" camp. Junky trailers, just uuk! We decided not to stay as we had made reservations for a week. It cost us a day's charge but well worth the loss. Just as we arrived I think a motorhome had made the same decision; older couple seemed to be shocked. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Most of the campers were living there full time and were in bad repair. The were no fishing piers as advertised on the maps. Park was dirty, roads were potholed and there were so many cars parked outside the campers it was hard to get a motorhome down the lanes. The sad thing is that this seemed typical of Corpus RV parks. Not only would I not recommend this park, I would not recommend Corpus Christi as a RV destination. We will not ever come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is right on the beach, with lots of dirt and sand. There are also some palm trees. This park is old, without any of the "stack'em and pack'em" amenities, ie., pool or spa, so if you are looking to be entertained, this is not the park for you. If you are looking to be right on the water, with lots of wind and very friendly people, then you will be happy here. We stayed for a week, and it is nicely located near to everything that Corpus Christi has to offer. No cable tv hook up, so you will need to put out your satellite dish, however, the City of Corpus Christi offers free WIFI throughout the city, which was wonderful! The laundry room had old machines, but they did a good job. Very nice staff, and they offer discounted tickets to some of the museums, USS Lexington, etc. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We pulled in and wondered what we were getting into, this campground is a dump. The sites are narrow and short. The electrical service boxes are rotting from the salt air, the service water smells like swamp water. Lots of large chunks of concrete along the oceans edge from hurricane Ike. Damaged dock and refuse along the shore and no effort to clean it up. Also a lot of sites taken by old trailers occupied by locals and surounded with trash. People in the office were friendly, but smokers were allowed to smoke in the office. We had a site with an ocean view that was beautiful but we would not come back here unless they cleaned up. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This place is a dump. Old, trashy and no effort made to clean up. Their website shows fishing piers and a cleaning station, but they do not exist. The waterfront is covered with old broken chunks of concrete covered with oyster shells and trash. The office was so full of cigarette smoke that it was difficult to breathe. So if you're allergic to nicotine, avoid this place. The site was so short that I stuck out into the street both front and rear. We were too close to the rig next door to walk between the rigs. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you know what you are getting with this park, it is a nice value. It is surrounded on two sides by the bay, and the views are great. Also close to the Corpus Christi beaches, the Lex, the Aquarium, and the minor league ballpark, so sight-seeing is very easy. We enjoyed our time there, and would return for short weekend visits. The shower facilities are limited (only 1), but if you have a self-contained unit, then that is not a concern. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Not much has changed since last reviews. $17.50 Passport America but it should be cheaper. This place needs work real bad, roads potholed, trash all over with no attempts being made to clean up. Being on the bay and the USS Lexington and the aquarium were the bright spots. Road noise can be a problem if wind is blowing the right direction. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park wasn't for us. I guess it all depends on what you want. If you like fishing, you'll love it, they have small fishing piers right in front of the sites. No beach. You are right on the water, but they don't have much to offer in facilities. Is very near the Lex and the Aquarium and convenient for a couple of nights to visit nearby attractions. If you want a nice campground with good facilities for a longer stay, look elsewhere. Windy, windy, windy. We would not return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camped here in a travel trailer - overall not a well maintained site but close to tons of stuff to see and do. We were unfortunate enough to have someone in our reserved spot when we arrived, no mgr on site and no one answered emergency phone number left. Luckily another oceanfront spot was available and we enjoyed our time here. Many full-timers in the park but not too bad - may stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very old campground and needs a lot of maintenance. Nice views of the bay and causeway. Waterfront sites were $28 and others were $25. I was charged 3.00 more for 50 amp service and when I got to the site it was only 30amp. I stayed, and at midnight we threw a breaker, only it was not the breaker at the site, it must have been a main breaker located somewhere else. The manager was not on site. We had to pick up camp and move to another site at 1am. They were kind enough to give me a $3.00 refund (50 amp fee) for my troubles and let me have a late check out. (check out is at 11am). The campground seemed to be mostly long-termers. The campground is extremely close to the Lexington and the Aquarium (<5 minutes) and is an OK place to stay while visiting down town. However, I would never go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Site was paved as advertised, but was at least 20 years old and covered in sand/dirt. Site was littered with cigarette butts. Animal waste was not picked up throughout the park. Beach area was littered with trash and broken glass. This park has a good location, but has been neglected. Beach front sites have a nice view, but I wouldn't stay here again unless a lot of money and effort are made to clean this place up. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice bay side campground. Well maintained. Good place to stay if you plan a week or more to visit Corpus Christi. You will need to obtain a MWR Guest Pass, unless you are in the military or retired. This costs $20, and takes a minimum of five days to obtain. Call them and apply ahead of time if you plan to visit. Really not much of a hassle. Wi-Fi was not too good, but our Verizon card worked just fine. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Shields Campground and RV Park on NAS Corpus Christi offers nice big patios, full hookups, and lots of wind w/some salt spray. Their “gas” station does sell diesel fuel, and they have a BX and commissary. Their free wi-fi ranged from “so-so” to non-existent– but our Verizon air card worked when the campground wi-fi was “bogged down”. They offer free laundry, but both the showers and laundry were some distance from our side of the campground, so they were not convenient and not enough to serve a park of this size. Dog owners have lots of areas ( on leash ) to walk your dogs, but these areas have an abundance of cockleburs. The Texas black tailed jackrabbits are plentiful at our site and somewhat entertaining. Like so many other military campgrounds and because they now have to pay for a park host ( IRS interference ) so they can then tax the host’s earned park income, there is no host and no real in park scheduled activities. On the plus side their golf course walking rate range from 10.00 – 14.50 for 18 holes. It is a wide open course and greens reseeding was going on while we were there in Nov so the greens were slow. If using a GPS to enter the base we plugged in 100 NAS Drive and it took us to the main, 24 hr gate. We’re not sure if we’d go out of our way to return to this park. We were here for a week before heading southwest to our Rio Grande Valley winter camp. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We love this place! Everything is kept spic and span, sites are spacious, fun fishing off the pier and we like the Gulf breezes. Nice small commissary and Navy Exchange on base, good espresso available at the Flight Deck. Big H.E.B. and small Wal-Mart and several restaurants just outside the gate at Flour Bluff on Waldron. We stayed on the grass sites at Paradise Cove. Wish we could stay all winter! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground! The sites are good sized and close to the gulf. The laundry and showers were clean and there a beautiful beach and pier to walk on. We had no complaints: everything worked as it should. We stayed here for several weeks and would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Shields is a great bargain for its location. Civilian rates are about $2 more than military. Sites are very big especially in the Paradise Cove section. Their are two fishing piers on either end of the facility as well as a marina which is being modernized. Although Civilians are accepted, the military and retired are given, and should be given, priority. A new Manager was hired in September and apparently doing a nice job. She has added activities that were wanted by the guests and is still accepting suggestions for more activities. All base facilities are within walking or quick driving distance and the newly trained staff has learned a lot about customer service and hospitality. It is usually windy and therefore we were unable to open our awnings, but you learn to live with it. Lots of very good but inexpensive restaurants in the local area and a great little sandwich shop on base called the Flight Deck. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The Park accepts the General public, not military only as advertised. It is on the Navy Base and therefore it is safe and secure. They have added new management and it is obvious things are changing for the better with activities and programs being added. All sites are within 200 yards of the Gulf of Mexico and if you like salt water fishing, this is the place to be. The park offers rentals of all watercraft as well as good fishing gear and bait. Sites are very large and roomy and Guests and staff are very friendly, while the mosquitoes are not. Bring plenty of repellent. The health spa is very well equipped and the golf course and first class clubs on base are open to all guests. This park is the best kept secret in south Texas. Top notch accommodations at Military prices. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is not worth the monthly rate of 430 dollars. There is no actives at all. the mosquitoes (in swarms) will attack you if you walk across the grass and even on your concrete patio. Does have large concrete patios and all people are friendly. Like all campgrounds, the people are let their dogs do their business by their campers. Some are tied up outside so the owners won't have to walk them. We got here the 15th of Nov 09 and will be here till may of 2010 I guess if there is anything left of me from the mosquitoes. The commissary is great and the fitness is one of the best I have used. I hate the wind and all the rain but sure enjoy the view. Lots of dead fish from the red tide around the banks and piers now. The Wi-Fi cost extra but they inform you that its not worth it. I use Sprint and Verizon air cards on EDO. Works great. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Military Campground on NAS Corpus Christi. Lots of great fishing. Swimming was really only good in base pool located next door. Very windy location with many stickers. Host and other campers were friendly. The park was quiet and dark which I like. We might stay again. If you want the beach, I would suggest staying elsewhere. Although driving across the bay to a Padre Island beach was only a 15 min. drive. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
