Location of park is excellent. The upkeep and maintenance of the park could be improved significantly. Lots of trash in lots. Site had electrical problems, park staff did correct the problem promptly. I would probably stay here again Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park, but the place should actually HAVE WiFi like they claim. No signal could be detected. We've stayed here twice. Nice view of the bay. The restaurant next door (and owned by them) screwed up our food order multiple times on two visits. Fireworks visible on Friday nights from Moody Gardens. Wish I could score it higher than seven. :( We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The view is great but there is too much trash in the campground, cig butts, dog poop and just plain old trash. The sewer and water hookups are on the opposite side of the electrical and most of the sewer pipes lacked covers. Not a very appealing sight or smell. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Location, location, location and that's about all Bayou Shores offers! Not because it couldn't offer more, but because the management doesn't appear willing to do more. Located on the Southern shore of Offatts Bayou, Bayou Shores is the closest CG to historic downtown Galveston and the Gulf beaches. Unfortunately the men's bathroom had only one shower working and wasn't cleaned at all during our week long visit. The women's bathroom had the same "out of service until 5:00PM" sign on the door all week. My site included beer bottle caps, a few old D batteries and dog poop. What a shame. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 4 nights here and the park has been cleaned considerably. There is still hurricane debris in pockets all through Galveston. Some is left over from the current rebuilding of the area but it being cleared as expeditiously as possible. Water and electricity were good here and the management was accommodating. The view of the water was great and weather made for a nice trip despite 4 inches of rain the day we arrived. The campground is no resort but it is close to everything in Galveston and and a quiet oasis in the middle of town. It is a good place to use for touring Galveston. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was the only RV park open in Galveston when we wanted to go back. The State Park was still be rebuilt and the only other park on the island was in Jamaica Beach, so we stayed here. Overall, not a bad stay. About half of the park was long term, most of which were construction workers. They were gone early and back late, so we really didn't even notice. The one problem is the "restaurant" next door. It is actually a bar with a large patio and live bands. If you can, make sure your reservation is for section A or B. We were in A and with the doors/ windows shut and A/C running, the music was not an issue. If you are in section D, that might not hold true, as you would be backed up to the common property line. The bathrooms were clean, but one of the 3 showers in the men's was "Out of Order". We used the park as a place to sleep, heading out to Schlitterbahn, Moody Gardens and The Strand for most of each day. I would stay again, but would rather go back to GISP when it reopens. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This place was horrible. 2 out of 3 toilets were cloggedr. Cockroaches were crawling around in the restroom at 11pm the night we arrived. There is no nice green grass as displayed in the picture..NOthing but fly away dirt that clings to everything including your shoes and feet. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

One of the worst campgrounds we have ever stayed at. The shoreline was covered with trash and building materials that had been dumped there, not storm debris as the management said it was. The management couldn't answer any questions as to the condition of the boat ramp or docks listed on their website as part of the park when I made reservations, which were actually on the adjoining property, not part of Bayou Shores RV Park as listed. The campsites were not paved or gravel. We had no water at our campsite; we had to go purchase another hose to hook up our camper. The electrical outlet on the power pole didn't work. The campsites are very small. I understand a lot of workers are staying there right now while doing hurricane Ike related repairs, but the management should maybe enforce some rules as to the condition the campsites should be kept in. It is a campground, not a junkyard, car repair facility, or a dog breeding ground. We will never stay there again. I do not recommend this campground to anyone! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Poor quality of spots. We have stayed here three times.....twice in pull through sites that are more like a driveway and hold water, once in a really small site that was more like stuck in the bushes. We only use this park as a last resort when we want to go to Galveston. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped here for 3 nights. It was a convenient location to friends we were visiting but that's where the good part ends. The sewer/water/electric hookups were on the wrong side of the coach so everything had to be fished underneath. The breakers couldn't handle the load of us and the coach next to us and kept blowing. The sewer connections were one small step above a hole in the ground and smelled bad. The bar next door (our site backed onto their parking lot) was noisy 'til very late. Very overpriced for what you got, might be OK for overnight only. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Upon looking at the web site I thought that this would be a very nice place to stay for a week. Upon arriving I found the sites to be cramped. My sewer connection was in front of my neighbors doors and my water connection was falling off of its post. There was a picnic table at my site however when I touched it, the table fell apart crashing to the ground. There is a bar next door and one of the patrons was passed out at the waters edge of the campground. Was unable to open my awning because it would be in the middle of campsite next to me. The website advertised that a manager was on duty 24 hours a day. I was unable to find anyone on site. I took my loss and packed up twenty minutes after arriving and found a new place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here earlier this year, and I'm the guy that posted the review as 7. Sadly, we
now have negative experience to share. We wanted to return for 3 nights early in August, and called to make a reservation two days in advance. They couldn't tell us if we could get a waterfront or waterview lot, and to make a reservation they required both a credit card number and our checking account number. When I protested giving both (especially the checking account number), she got beligerent on the phone and said that's their policy, if I don't want to follow it, I should stay somewhere else. So we did. I won't say that we'll never be back, but if we do, the devil will be wearing multiple sweaters and a down jacket! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park in May '04. Things we liked about the park: Waterfront sites, nice view.
Good Sam discount available Mon-Thur. Ease of getting to the park from I-45. Friendly office staff. Things we didn't like: Cramped sites, neighbor's sewer connection three feet from side door of our parked RV. Pop-up camper in next site virtually up against our RV. Messy waterfront. Broken concrete, etc. used as fill to prevent erosion. Cable TV available, but didn't work at our site. Modem in office, office closed after 5:00 pm. We will stay at this park again during the week due to our style of RV'ing which is to sight see rather than set up camp at a park. We used this park as a place to park with hook-ups and it worked okay for us.

We're just back from a few days at this park, and had I looked at the prior 2 reviews, I never would have stayed there. It's really much better than the other 2 reviews indicated, in our opinion. What's good is that the view of the water is very pretty, and the staff seems quite helpful. The sites are grassy, and a bit soft. The park owner has built a reasonable restaurant next door, and there's lots within walking distance. What's bad is that there is one set of hookups shared by two sites, and if your hookup is on the patio side, you'll likely need hose and power cord extensions. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Went there for July 4th weekend. This place is dirty and old. They definitely need to
update in the worst way. Broken down swing equipment. Tent campers were right outside our RV windows. Water edge had broken concrete and trash surrounding
it. Getting cancellation $ back can take forever (and only by mail). They will not except credit card reservations over the phone. Only checks to hold a reservation. We have a 36' fifth wheel. It was very difficult to back in their crowded, tight slots. We will not be going back there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The area was nice at first pull in. There is a nice bar & grill next door, but the trashed out water front doesn't do it any justice. There were rocks and broken up concrete mixed so there were no beaches. The only sand that we saw was a 10x20 ft. area that also doubled as the broken down boat ramp. We reserved a site a month out and it was occupied when we got there. We also setup a 5 day stay, but on the 5th day when we tried to check out the management told us that we scheduled to stay 6 days and the paperwork that stated that was missing. The owner was called in and he
understood the problem, but said that they could not refund our money because we wrote a check. He said that they will send our money in the mail. A year later we are still waiting. The camp sites were small and close together we had space problems putting out our awnings. So for our future camping we will stay at the better RV park along the beach. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is located very close to the beach. They have some paved sites and some gravel/sandy sites. We had reservations for a paved deluxe site, but unfortunately it was too small for our coach. We then were given a gravel site with full hookups which was fine. Unfortunately the 50 amp service worked for a while, then lost one leg, so were down to 30 amp service. I hooked up to another nearby power source and had 50 amps for a while then lost the other leg. (I had never had just leg 2 before.) Wasn't long and my batteries began to deplete, so I plugged back in to the first power source and got by just fine for the night. The scary thing is that the wiring is bad and it could easily have been the neutral that was bad and pushed 240 volts thru my coach and ruined all the electrical. If you stay at this park, please make sure and have a surge guard or equivalent. It was nice being close to the beach. Since the park was not full it was just fine. If it were full, it would have been awfully tight given the small sites. I consider this a pricey park, given the lack of amenities, but it's proximately to the Gulf and lack of other RV Parks allow them to demand the fees they do. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great campsite right on the beach. If you want to just walk a few meters and be on the beach, this is the place for you. My kiddos loved it and it is close to all attractions. Only thing missing is a gate to control who comes and goes and repair the playground. Try the Seaside Beastro right across the street, food was awesome! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I just don't get the negative comments from some earlier reviewers. This is a lovely spot. Maybe it gets loud and crowded in the summer. We stayed here for two weeks, and liked it a lot. It's only about 200 yards past the end of the Galveston seawall, for a terrific bike ride into town along the seawall. Staff were friendly and helpful, each site has a concrete patio and picnic table, and we've been in many places with much less space. This is a municipal campground, and we thought it was excellent. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park has a great location - on the Gulf of Mexico. Staff was friendly and helpful. While the WIFI was not great while we were there, they were in the process of upgrading. They have some newer pull thru sites that are wide and paved. We didn't really miss having cable, even though we do not have satellite, as we picked up aome Houston stations for the weather report we needed.We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again when we are in Galveston again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The rate given is for the full hook up premium sites, which is an important element in our stay. These sites are quite nice and avoid some of the crowded in problems other reviews have mentioned. There is even a little landscaping between them. You are right on the beach and very close to Galveston proper, if going into town is your thing. Galveston has some interesting sites. My wife enjoys the shopping on the Strand and I enjoy the Mexican food and seafood. We thought the restrooms were very clean, in spite of use by both RV campers and people using the facility for the day. We did not see any of the rowdy behaviour mentioned in earlier reviews. The choice of campsites makes all the difference in the world. The sites at the back beyond the premium sites are tighter. To get premium sites you apparently need to reserve early or get lucky on availability. The bottom line is: close to the beach and close to town, this is your park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Can walk to the beach and the bathrooms and showers were clean. They have a small store on site, but we did not shop there. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The location of this RV park is awesome. We were backed up to the sand dunes on a beach front site. However, this is where the compliments end. The sites were really close. The grounds were poorly maintained. Most of the sites are gravel and mowed down weeds. Our site was full of weeds that had tiny prickly things all over them. I arrived on a Wednesday, and on Friday I learned that an elderly lady (who also arrived on Wednesday) had fallen down the stairs and the staff refused to help her back to her RV (her wrist was injured and she was bruised and scraped all over her arms and upper body). Nor would the staff hook up her RV. We checked on her, took her ice and food until her son arrived to take her home. In short, if you need help, don't count on the staff. I watched them frequently gathering in groups, driving around, but rarely working. I loved the setting, but I was disappointed in the park. While I was there I visited Galveston State Park just a few miles West, and it was alot nicer. The next time we'll be staying at Galveston State Park! We camped here in a Motorhome.

All cramped park with narrow sand and dirt sites. If it rains this quickly turns to mud. Park is sited so that you are only a few steps from the beach and is close to Galveston proper. It offers easy exit and entrance from San Luis Pass Rd. While it does support big rigs it is a tight park with close quarters. When our slide was out our neighbors could not use the seat on the back of their picnic table. The connections were at the back so we had to be careful with positioning so that we could extend the slide and not hit the power pole or the picnic table. This caused us to need the full 20' of sewer hose. The park does offer both back-in and pull through even though their website says back-in only. It also offers wireless internet but the system was down when we were there and I was told it did not cover the entire park. There is road noise, both from the amount of traffic in the park and the closeness of San Luis
Pass Road. The park has a small store and giftshop. While I would go back I would want to see what else was available
first. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park on the Texas Gulf Coast. Full hookup (back-in / sand) sites are $22 per night and pull-thru (newer and paved) sites are $25 per night. 50amp service is appx $3 more per night. We camped here in a camper.

My understanding was that the sites were right on the beach, but they were not. They were certainly within walking distance (over a bridge over some dunes), but they were not "on" the beach. Make sure that you bring LOTS of bug spray, as the mosquitos were horrible. The inner loop sites have the picnic tables on the back side of the rig, while the outer loop sites have them right out the door, so consider that when choosing a site. Restrooms were fairly clean, but there was a line for the showers in the evenings, since there are no sewer hookups and most everyone wants to conserve the space in their tanks. There was also a line at the dump station when we got ready to leave, so keep that in mind when deciding what time to load up. Overall a nice enough stay, but next time we will look for a place with full hookups. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice location right at the beach with spacious sites. You could not be closer to the beach. This is what we like about the park. There are also nice hiking paths on the other side towards the bay. Clean rest rooms and very friendly and helpful stuff. However they need to improve the fire sites. Not all sites have grills anymore and the fire pits cannot be used for grilling since they don't have grids. Also some of these pits are are 1' to 2' deep. Watch your little children. Another weird thing: The shelters are on the left side of the parking strips. But since we have small popup trailer I always turn the trailer 180 degrees with the tongue facing in. This is very easy since the sites are level. I just prefer my door and awning facing the campsite. And bring your own fire wood. The park ranger do not sell wood. The camp hosts sometimes do have wood. But not always. I also could not find any wood in the stores close by. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Real nice RV park, paved roads and parking. Picnic table with roof and cement floor, bbq grill. Clean restrooms, but need updating. Green lawn all around. 100 ft from beach with board walk to water. This RV park is situated mere feet away from a sewage treatment facility. The RV spots are very close together. Our neighbor's awning was almost touching our camper. The owners are nice people, but the campground has not been kept up. They advertise that they have a spa and exercise room that do not exist. The restroom and shower facilities are fair and seem to be cleaned regularly. If you don't like pigeons, ducks and chickens this is another reason not to stay here. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Previous reviewers are all pretty accurate. It's been a long process getting this state park back online within a very limited budget and they've done a good job. The restrooms and showers are, uh, adequate. We stayed here for a full week while our son attended classes at UTMB. You're on the beach (short walk), great view, 50Amp service and good water - FOR $25/day!! The alternative is a decent hotel in Galveston at $150+/night. Of course the beach is the attraction and it's fine. Clean, brown and very sparsely populated since the park's property is very large and the day visitors aren't allowed in the campsite area. Each site has it's own, covered shelter with a picnic table. The park rangers are all very helpful and friendly - from those patrolling and working outside to the office staff. Word of caution - if your pets are under 10 pounds, keep them inside or else the smaller mosquitoes will carry them off! (The large mosquitoes just swallow them whole). With an on-shore breeze, it's not too bad on the beach side but the Bay side is awful and you'll be eaten alive. With an off-shore breeze, the opposite is true. Summer = mosquitoes. The bathrooms were very dirty and one was out of order our entire stay. The showers were dirty and had standing water on the floor. Trash was everywhere and the dumpsters were full and smelled. It was only a short walk to the beach from the camp sites. It is way over priced for what you get. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Hurricane Ike really decimated this park. On the gulf side, instead of three oval loops of about 24 sites each, there are now only three blind alleys of 12 sites each. The inland (lake side) sites were relatively unaffected. Compared to what I believe was the only other RV park on the island (Dellanera), which is now a bare lot, the state park was fortunate. The restroom and shower facilities are replacements; not as large as before, but of average cleanliness for a public park. The gulf, thank heavens, is just as beautiful and fun as it was before. It's particularly nice to be able to let your pets play on the beach and in the water. As usual, this was one of the high points of our trip. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in the beach section of the SP campground. This is further divided into 3 sections along the frontage road. Each has about 14 sites in a T shape fronting the beach. Entrance to the section is in the middle and there is no turn around at the ends of the T, so everyone must either back down the road when entering or back out when leaving. This is not a big problem, the road is wide and not too long (300 yards). If you don't like backing, then camp in the bay side circle. However the only 50 amp+water service is beach side, the other has 30 amp+water. Each beach side site has a shelter and fire ring. We had no problem with drainage even though it rained heavily during our stay. Beach sites are about 100 yards from the beach. The water front is visible from the campsites so the view is great. The beach is hard packed sand, suitable for riding bikes and several miles long. At this time, reservations can ONLY be made via the state PHONE reservation system. We when online several times only to find the "campsite unavailable during the time requested", which to me means full. However, after visiting the park in person (and not being allow to make a reservation), we followed the suggestion to call the master number, and easily made a reservation. At this time in mid March, the park was not full. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We sympathize with this campground: their losses to Hurricane Ike were tremendous, however it appears that they are in no big rush to restore quality camping. The concept of water drainage seems to be to just let the rain water drain into the sites. We had to "wade" through two inches of water to hook-up utilities and do the same to unhook. Granted we had some rain, but the sites were assigned regardless of the standing water. Our advice is to stay away from the beach sites for now! The bayside sites looked good and we will go there next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a decent park right on the ocean. It is perfect for walks on the beach or surf fishing. Nice, large level sites. Mine had some drainage problems after a day of heavy rain but it wasn't horrible. Windy but that goes with being near the ocean. Beautiful, clean, well kept beach. I paid the extra $5 to be adjacent to it. No ground fires allowed on those sites. No trees so no privacy. As somebody else mentioned, multiple new bath houses were under construction. Staff was great as I've always found to be the case in Texas State Parks. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our first visit to a Texas State Park facility. They are installing new washroom and bath facilities in each camping area. Every site has a concrete shelter with table. For a $5.00 fee you can upgrade to a waterfront site located adjacent to the dunes - excellent view of the beach and gulf. We were pleasantly surprised when after 24 hours of rain our site was drained and the surrounding grass was only damp. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you love the beach and want a site right on the beach, this is it! We have site #24. It is the closest to the water we have ever been. This park would get a ten if they had sewer connections. We were a bit concerned when we first pulled up friday afternoon and saw all the campers, figuring we should have made reservations. The park staff was helpful and marked about 15 sites we could look at that were available. We quickly found a good spot and checked in. The park was clean and freshly mowed. We backed the 31' motor home easily into our spot and had no problems with room for the super slide. We could see, hear and smell the Gulf of Mexico from our site and it was only a short walk to the beach. The only small drawback is you have to walk across about 15 yards of seaweed that washes up on the beach to get to the water. The sea breeze makes for some nice naps outside under a canopy during the hotter part of the day. I can't wait to return and do some more beach combing for seashells and shark's teeth. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park, all spots have a covered picnic table. The premium spots are along the sand dunes which are covered with plants and divides the park from the beach. You can see the beach if your in a high profile RV. There are plenty of access bridges over the dunes to the beach. The restrooms were clean but could use some updating. While we were there the beach was covered with some kind of sea weed and jelly fish. I don't know if it is like this year around but I doubt it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great gulf front/view state park. Very happy they have WIFI. Nice spacious spots. Would have given a 10 if they had sewer hookups at site and bathrooms were better maintained (clean but needing repairs). Price quoted with state pass. We were told the rate was going up 1-12-07. Only one campground of 3 was open. We were told they were only allowed to open the other sections if "reservations" were at capacity. We camped at Galveston State Park labor day weekend and found it an excellent camp ground. The check in was fast and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were emaculate and the showers and bathrooms were kept clean even on a busy weekend. We had a 3 hour drive to get to this park and we usually like to stay with-in an hours drive. There are many things to do in the near vicinity. On one side of the park is a more primitive camp area with shelters and tent camping. The staff on that side was very nice. There is a great nature walk and look out area to view sunsets over the marshland. This may very well be one of our favorite camp grounds. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Always a pleasant stay here, and you can't beat Galveston seafood. Park charges an extra $10/night for the "waterfront" slots. This is somewhat capricious, because the intervening sand dune makes the Gulf equally invisible from all the slots, but for once it's nice to see the government not being stupid about exploiting the power of the free market and "voluntary" user fees to pay its bills. I think it's a relatively new policy, because I don't remember this price differential from 2003. There is "no swimming pool" only if you don't count the Gulf of Mexico. :-) The water is warm, the beach is sunny, and the bathing is fine. Every site comes with a little two-wall ramada and picnic table. The showers are clean and private, two-room high-wall affairs. (No A/C in showers/toilets.) Check-in at the office is often slow and unorganized, but that is the only low point about this park. The scenery and the environment is just gorgeous, including all the colorful kites being flown on the beach and in the park areas. We always spend at least two night here, even if we're just "passing through." We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The $31 a night included a $3 each per person per day for entrance to the park which they require and a $25 "premium" site rate. The site was $25 and then 2 people at $3 each per day for $31 per night. It was worth it. We liked the park and the people running it. We also paid $15 per night and $6 per day entrance fee for a "standard" site which was also nice. The premium sites are first come first serve. They also have some sites which are bayfront versus oceanfront. It was very very windy at the ocean sites and others said it was that way most all of the time. Could not use awning. The bayfront sites were much less windy if this matters to you. Also the bayfront did not have the salt spray problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice park with level sites and nice covered picnic tables. This park is right on a beautiful beach. The only problem we experienced was that someone else "stole" our site while we were out driving around during the day. The individuals had set up 2 tents in our site. The campground host was nowhere to be found, and the people refused to move. So, we wound up sharing our site for the night. The intruders left early the next morning, and the park ranger was nice enough to give us a refund for that night's stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped here in Feb '03-during Mardi Gras. However the camp was very quiet. Large sites. You can reserve a 50 amp site, but the premium sites are first come first serve and are $5.00 more per night. I have stayed here often and already have dates set for three more stays before the end of the year. It is the best RV park on Galveston Island. Full hook up's, cable TV, WiFi, hot tub, pool, and the friendliest staff you will find anywhere. They will go out of their way to help you and make your stay comfortable. The beach is a comfortable walk and I've taken my grandson across the road many times with no problem. The beach at that area is very quiet and there are no crowds like you find further towards the city. Its a lovely, perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park with friendly staff. Has a good waffle and sausage breakfast on Wednesday and Saturdays for $2.99. It's close to the beach just across the road, you can walk or drive and park right on the beach, I like that part. You can see the ocean from some of the front sites. It's 11 miles to Wal-Mart,13 miles to Moody Gardens. There is a very nice market just a block away that you can buy just about anything you need if you forget something, and it's reasonably priced if you don't want to drive into Wal-Mart or town. Went 2 hours out of our way for this RV park and beach. The past reviews sounded great. This place nickel and dimes you. Mini golf is ridiculous at $6 person, more than at an amusement park. Would have been $30 for family of 5, no discount even if you pay to stay. The beach is not across "street." Its up the highway 2 blocks and down another block to the public beach. Like playing chicken to get the kids across the highway. Had to call for them to open the activity room and the soda machine is just for show. Was definitely not worth $$, so recommend you stay at a state park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our family comes to this park at least twice a month and we absolutely love it. It is hands down the best RV park on the island. Recently a pirate themed putt putt course has been completed (which is the best putt putt on the island too) along with a mega size chess board, and water wars game area. The pool and hot tub are always great and the outdoor family movie night shouldn't be missed. The beach is just across the street and the grocery store is less than a 1/2 mile away. There is also a dog run area for your pooch. I highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Park is nicely equipped with a pool, hot tub, very clean bathrooms, and plentiful grass surround each camp spot. The entire RV park fresh and vibrant. It's directly across a fairly busy highway from Galveston Beach and 10-11 miles from Galveston itself. I downgraded the park a couple notches as the camp spots are somewhat tight and the construction of the putt putt golf course adjacent to the park, led to a very noisy couple afternoons. I asked to move to a spot on the other side of the park from the construction and the staff reluctantly did so. Overall, a very nice park and we would stay here again. We really enjoyed staying at this park for the 3 days we were in Galveston. The location to the beach is awesome. The facilities are well kept but you also need to take into account they are rebuilding and improving from Ike 2 years ago. (I think most of it is improvements) The park is pet friendly although not marked as such in the details. Once unhitched, the pad length was a little tight for our crew cab long bed and 39' 5th wheel, but everything else was great. We will definitely stay here again the next time we come. The owners at this RV park are very nice people and quite helpful. We had flooded water outside our door due to the rain. Without asking they quickly got a machine to get rid of the small pond we had outside our door. The front sites are ocean view and you can hear the waves crash on the beach. If you do not have a car: it is 26 miles to downtown, which cost us $40 each way by cab. There is no bus. There is a nice store right across the street to get your groceries. The sites are level, gravel and quite large. The weather was cold but on one sunny day we walked along the beach for two hours collecting sea shells. This is a very nice park, if you are in the front row, you have an unrestricted view of the water but be prepared for a little traffic noise. Will take the noise for the sunrises. The spots are concrete and level, a little close together, but not the worst we've seen. Everything worked as it should, the hosts were helpful without being invasive. They serve breakfast on Saturdays and Wednesdays. There are some full timers here, but only one or two older trailers in the back. Pool and splash pad was closed on our visit, but look nice. It's 400 feet to the beach entrance, exactly as it states. We will absolutely be back here. Enjoyed our stayed in Galveston. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 3 nights at a Good Sam rate of $37.80/night for 2 people. The resort seems fully recovered from Hurricane Ike which devastated the island in September, 2008. The beach was very nice, with the beach access road located 400 feet west of the RV park entrance. We were able to drive our car and bike on the hard packed sand. The pool and spa water were quite cool. A couple junky looking "permanent" sites detracted from the RV park's appearance. We enjoyed the free continental breakfast with homemade waffles on Saturday morning; breakfast is also offered on Wednesdays. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the only park on Galveston Island we come to on a regular basis. It is very well maintained by very sweet people who go out of their way to accommodate each guest. The only reason I do not rate this park as a 10 is because of the long term residents presently staying in the park. Otherwise, the amenities are great, the facilities are all very clean, and the location to the beach is wonderful. The sites are all level with plenty of patio spacing between rigs. I was very happy with the park. There were a few older 'live in ' trailers, but the spaces all had ample breathing room and also nice pull-thru's. Family friendly, and I would definitely return. It's not 'on the beach' but really close, and unless you plan on walking and carrying a bunch of stuff it's not that big a deal. It's about 10 miles down from the seawall. The bathrooms were clean and well appointed with stone tiled floors and decorated walls. The pool and jacuzzi and park area were a lot of fun for the kids. You can drive across the street to the beach and park your car on the beach. The owners are very nice. They serve a complimentary Continental breakfast that includes waffles on Wed and Sat. You are a short scenic 10 miles from all the restaurants and conveniences of Galveston. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed in a motor home five months after hurricane Ike. Clean up still in progress throughout Galveston. This park had lots of clean up crew workers camped there and off on another piece of unpaved land. All sorts of questionable people were in this park. In the main building on the front porch, three tents were allowed for migrant worker families of about eight people. The place was crowded and full to capacity. Our site was directly across from the office making it the most busiest area. We had dog poop all around our area, cigarette butts, beer bottle caps and other non hurricane debris on our front door step. The park is paved but driving through it with a 35 footer and a tow can be a challenge. Due to the hurricane there weren't many RV parks open, and so, this place is the busiest game in town. I doubt we'd stay there again unless we were not able to find another park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park was decent, we visited shortly after the hurricane, so it was full of hurricane clean up crews. I'm used to State Parks and National Forest campgrounds, so I didn't like it, no trees, very barren and too darn close to each other. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great park for families. The beach is directly across the street with easy drive on access. There is a pool, hot tub and splash pad when you've had enough sand and salt water. They have outdoor movies on Friday and Saturday nights and delicious homemade breakfast waffles on the weekends. The hosts are wonderful; and their son is real sweet too. The sites are roomy and maintained. The bathrooms are always immaculate and the game room is an added bonus. We love returning to this park time and again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Let's start with the positive, the owners are nice, sites are new and the city of Galveston is a wonderful place to visit (try horseback riding on the beach which about 10 minutes away from the park). When we were here there were many children who were not being supervised and were loud, rude and made our pool experience very difficult. We were traveling with our 2 girls but we always make sure they are being respectful. We really feel the owners need to make parents more responsible. I agree with an earlier poster that they need to hire more help because on 3 occasions we could not find them to ask questions. Also they advertise waffles as continental breakfast but do not offer it anymore during the week (they need to change their web site!). Overall an average stay, but I guess for being on the road for 7 weeks now (8000 miles) and crossing Canada and the USA this is our first real disappointment. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Clean, smallish RV park about 11 miles west of Galveston. Good pool and playground area. Good sized lots with FHU. Numerous beach access roads nearby. Plenty to do in Galveston. Friendly staff. Check with park before booking because of Hurricane Ike damage. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed 4 nights, very tight for big rigs. Close to the public beach. Be prepared to climb stairs, office is on second floor and rec/family room is on third floor. Ground maintenance is poor, lots of travel trailers. Wireless signal not very strong. Close to grocery/gas stores. 11.5 miles to Galveston. We would stay there again if in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This new, and well-maintained park, could have been much nicer had it been designed to accommodate fewer RVs. As it is, it has a "sardines packed in a can" feel to it. The sites are too narrow and too short for the biggest rigs, and the streets are way too narrow, and turns too tight. If you're lucky, you might get a tiny glimpse of the ocean across the highway, but chances are all you will see are other RVs. The grounds and facilities, including a pool, rec room, workout room, etc. are nicely maintained, and the owners are helpful, when you can find them. However, because they are the only employees on site, and are usually elsewhere cleaning or something, there is rarely anyone in the office. We had to call a phone number posted on the door to find someone to check us in. They could really use some workcampers in this park. Near the end of our stay, the large group of motorscooter people mentioned by the previous reviewer, most of whom were camping in tents, arrived and things went downhill fast. The noise was horrible and went on into the early morning hours one night. We loved Galveston, however. We checked out the nearby Galveston State Park and it was wonderful, with huge sites, all right next to the ocean. There are no sewer hookups, but we'll do without one for a week to stay in this beautiful place next winter. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Owners were very friendly, and helped us with things to see and local restaurants. Concrete pads. Concrete interior roads. RV pads are very narrow. Interior roads are also very narrow, with very tight turns. Pads are spaced very close together. We were assigned space #18. Pad length barely accommodated our 40 ft. motorhome and Tahoe. Larger big rigs would not fit if you include a toad, and I can't imagine trying to turn a 45 ft. motorhome on these interior roads. Water pressure was 45 psi. 50 amp electrical hookup was satisfactory, 115 V on each leg. Free breakfast on Saturday. No shade trees. Wireless internet provided by RV Park was not usable at our pad due to low signal strength. Oleanders provide some screening. Brisk wind from the Gulf of Mexico. Some road noise. Large group camping in tents on the field next to the RV Park, all of whom were on motorcycles and motorscooters. Overall impression: crowded. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The owners were super-friendly and did all they could do acquaint us with the area. They are great ambassadors for Jamaica Beach. When we arrived they told us about a Valentines dinner they were having. It was a good way to meet some of the other campers and a reasonable price per meal ($10 for t-bone steak dinner). The weather was bad when we were there, so I appreciated the work-out room, where I could get some exercise. Only drawback is that sites were not all that private. If you don't mind wide-open area, it's a great park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice resort and the owners are very very friendly. They turned on the hot tub for us each day even though it was cold and the "off" season. I was a bit disappointed because I thought they where closer to the beach. It was about 1/2 mile walk to the access but since it was cold I really didn't want to go there anyway. This is an excellent park. Owners on site and will bend over backwards to see that you are comfortable and have everything you need. Showers and restrooms and laundry 24 hours a day and very clean. Fresh waffles for breakfast on the weekends in the club house. I am looking forward to returning, The beach is a short walk away and you can see the ocean from your camp site. I had a wonderful time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a brand new park, opened this year. It is still being developed, but you don't see a lot of construction equipment sitting around. It has concrete roads, but a few have have narrow turns. Sites are level concrete with a table, grass and are fairly wide. Laundry nice and clean, but small (two W/Ds), with space for 2 more of each. Nice owners (on site). Can't really see the gulf, but it is within walking distance. Good hook-ups. We would come back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed on a monthly basis. The park owners were on site and very interested in making sure you had everything you need. Ask about using the grill 3 spaces over in the VIP spot, and here they come wheeling one over to you to use--free. Paper? Delivered to your doorstep. It is a new park, might be short on shade but the trees are growing as fast as they can. Oh, we borrowed their kayak and had a blast! Never any nickel and diming... We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This Park has recently opened and is a great RV park. It does have a few unfinished projects but we could easily over look that. The Owners were very nice and helpful. They have a free continental breakfast which was awesome. The sites are well kept with concrete pull-thru's. There is a pool and hot tub and a splash pad for the kids. Even though this park is brand new it is just awesome! We stayed her for 3 nights and could not have asked for more. We went to the beach and just went up to the front desk and was dropped off and picked up by the owners. Breakfast is included in your price and is just great, homemade waffles each morning. With these owners you could just not ask for more. The pool is just beautiful, and the bathrooms are only described as HUGE and absolutely clean. The owners were so nice and helpful about anything and everything. This is the best campground found on Galveston Island. We rode around looking at the other parks in the area after we checked into our park and were so glad that had check this site and changed our reservations from another park on the island. There is nothing more that you could ask for with this park. There is allot of new construction going on but does not affect anything with your stay. When we stayed here they had only opened with in the month. We recommend to any one and everyone, and will go back next summer and only stay here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed the past few weekends since the park was open, and I must say this is a "Class-Act" from your first entrance into the office, all the way to the free breakfast with homemade Belgian waffles. My kids absolutely loved the Pool and the Splash Pond, and the breakfast. A large community center with a pool table, dart board, and the walk across the street to the beach, was so awesome. Be sure to check out the full service hookups of 20/30/50 amps,free cable TV, and the owners are most helpful and courteous. Talk about a family oriented place to stay, they have both class and charm here! Will definitely stay again,and again, and again...... Oh yeah and family events not a problem, they have room for a reunion or wedding, what a place.... We camped here in a Motorhome.

We found the people here very nice and very helpful! The bathrooms and showers were awesome! The sites were very spacious with lots of room between sites! We were very happy with the park, the only flaw was that it is still under construction and there are a lot of unfinished projects. This place will be great in a bout 6 months or so! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
