Billy Goat's Gruff is horrible!!!! It is some stupid old grumpy woman’s back yard. It is not even a real camp ground. She stuck some window units in her sheds and calls them cabins. What a joke! Not one of the camp sites is right on the river like she will promise. We were going to camp there the weekend of August 1st, 2009. We got there and she was already mad because we arrived at 11 am. She says “Check in is not until 2:30, but I guess I could let you in.” This is here stupid backyard we are talking about; really, when does her yard close or open? We arrived and she was freaking out because the other person in our party had a pop-up camper; I had call her the Friday before and told her we were changing the tent site to a pop-up. I also had mentioned that we might have some other people showing up the next day and they would pay when they got there. She started to freak out and tell me, my wife and my friend that we were liars and to leave. She said she was going to call the police on us and my 3 small children (1, 3, and 4 year old.) I told her we would leave if she gave us our money back; she freaked out again and went in the house. We were promised 2 camp sites right on the river with water and electricity, not camping in some crazy lady’s backyard. She also told us, when asked about not being right on the river, “if you are too lazy to walk down to the river, you don’t need to be here. Camp at your own risk. There are many other places to camp; do not try here. Ask psycho woman for a picture of the “grounds” from the back of here house, you will see what I am talking about. I doubt she has any repeat campers. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was our second time to stay in this park. This time we reserved site #3 due to last year's constant pedestrian traffic crossing to the river though our site (which is very bad manners). I have improved my rating to a 10 since we had no traffic through our site but I did notice anything past site #4 did have the constant pedestrian traffic even though the park has several public access areas to the river. The sites are very large able to accommodate any size rig with ample parking and patio space. A wooden picnic table is provided and the riverfront sites are great. Our site overlooked the falls and sites #'s 1-8 do not allow for day use or tent camping between your site and the river giving you some privacy and room to spread out your pop up awning for shade by the river. Our electric power was great with no disruption in power levels for 5 days of 100+ heat. Our site did require about 1 1/2 inches of leveling on one side of the rig but this is the only negative feedback I can offer. The $60 per night is a little steep but it is the best park on the river and worth the money if you consider the alternatives. We will return again next year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is our favorite campground and we stay here at least twice a year. We love the easy river access. It's shallow enough to set chairs up in the river and watch the kids play. The staff is friendly. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Quiet little park during the winter but hear it is rowdy during the tubing season on the river. Could use a nice laundry and faster Wi-Fi. Price reflects monthly rate. We will probably stay here again early next year while visiting family. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The price reflects the weekly rate in November. Riverfront sites advertised at $45 a night for next summer. The spots on the river can either be back in or drive in. In a motorhome it is nice to be able to drive in and have a view of the river but it does put you very close to your neighbor that backs in especially if you both have slides. We saw two units that were about 3" apart. It didn't bother us but may others. The concrete patio was the whole length of our 40' motorhome; nice for keeping the unit clean. We loved this park and would love to be able to come back in the summer when there is rafting on the river. The RV park also has a rafting business and in the summer there is food available and they are supposed to be opening a restaurant next spring. There is a store that carries basic food, drink and clothing. There are also many tenting and picnic sites. This park is the nicest on the river and the closest to New Braunfels and Gruene. Despite what another review said, I saw quite a few dogs that were over 15 pounds; the rules say 20 pounds. If ever in this part of the world again we will stay here for sure. Wi-Fi was good on all days except when it rained and Verizon worked well. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The river front site we stayed in was level, with concrete and gravel and quite a bit of room; but this campground is rather expensive for what they don't offer. To be fair: it is the nicest campground on River Road, so I guess that is what you are paying for. The staff is very friendly and keeps the campground clean, cruising around daily picking up after those campers who don't pick up after themselves. We enjoyed the river, but several people thought they could use our site to cut through to the river, even though they had paid less for their sites because they were second row. This was a bit of an issue and the staff did not enforce using the public access area for those campers. Also, quite time rules were not enforced: the campsite next to us was loud and drunk late into the night for the 3 nights they were here. It would be nice if the policies of the campground were enforced: I would have given a better rating. We may consider this campground again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice park. Each site has a picnic table and a grill but the grills are nothing to write home about. The grating is to high above the charcoal. Pets only allowed if they weigh less than 15 pounds. The park was very clean and has a great spot on the river! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very clean, very attractive park. It was very tight for my trailer and very narrow for my group that was camping. The spaces that we were in on the river were to narrow for real camping. If you stay in the trailer the whole time it would be great, but we like to sit outside and visit. The water was cold, but that is the Guadalupe River for you. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Like my parks with great scenery, if you get the right site, the a stay can be close to perfect. A river front site is great, especially for motorhome as you can pull straight in. If you are looking for river front camping this is hard to beat. We camped here in a Motorhome.
MY first time RVing in a rental and this was my first campground in years. Very pleasantly suprised with the beauty of the location, right on the river, and the park is tidy and well kept. The store is like a mini mart, a bit of everything in there, and a toob rental within walking distance. The RV sites are surrounded by tent camper, and the place was full on weekends so if you want to be in the more quiet area pick a center RV spot--we were in spot 1 on the end and had no problems, but other spots in the center will be quieter. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The reason we gave this and 8 out of 10 instead of a 10 out of 10 was no wi-fi and no cable available. If you're interested in a quiet setting on a river, clean, crushed gravel fairly level sites, then this is the place for you. We used our air card for our wi-fi connection and the signal was fair, enough to pull in mail, etc. It it located just outside of New Braunfels which is a nice community with lots of amenities nearby and of course close to San Antonio. We paid $40.00 a night which we felt was high but would probably stay here again. We understand the weekly and monthly rates are quite a bit more reasonable, but you would have to check that yourself. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is one of the best RV parks we have stayed at and would have given it a 10 but they don't have a laundromat. This park was rebuilt after the 2002 flood and is modern with large sites that can be accessed on either side of your concrete pad. Lots of room between sites and views on to the Guadalupe River. Their Web site doesn't do justice to this spectacular park. We stayed for a month at $295 which included power !!!! The New Braunfels area is about 25 miles north east of San Antonio and has lots of history. The Laundromat is on the old section and not usable but lots of choice in New Braunfel. Most of the RVs in this park are local people who come out for the weekend. This means it is very quiet through the week. The staff are friendly. Internet is spotty but my Verizon Air Card worked well. This park is a must stay at. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The review below says it all. I didn't rate it a 10 because wifi is important to us, and it is very weak and I was located within 100' of the store. They even had routers on the poles for those further down the road Nice turn around area too. Not many folks there, it was about 1/4 full at most. Lots of snow birds and trout fisherman. Our neighbor complained he caught his 5 limit before breakfast and ran out of things to do! The sites were gravel with concrete picnic pad. The river view was great. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were pleasantly surprised by this park; low monthly rate ($295) included electric, the sites were very large, and the area is quiet during the winter months. Hookups are unique; each site is three lanes wide with hookups at each side. This allowed us to pull in nose-first with a great view overlooking the cypress-lined Guadalupe River. Sites have a large cement patio, picnic table, and barbecue on a stand. The area is generally quiet except for motorcycles on the adjacent River Road, and was only a bit crowded once the state began stocking trout every Friday in December. The staff was very friendly, there is a small store, and WiFi (weak & spotty) is free. The Verizon Air Card worked very well. Just a short (3 miles) from New Braunfels which has all amenities. No pets, glass, or Styrofoam allowed along the river, but during the winter small pets are allowed in the RV area. This is a huge "toobing" area during the summer and is crowded and noisy. We enjoyed our stay and will return next winter. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed here for the last few years. It is a very busy park, but very kid friendly. They will not allow dogs over 20 pounds. Beautiful views of the Guadalupe River. It it worth the few dollars extra for the river view spots. Half of the campground is for tent camping and is a wild place. The RV side is pretty quiet. They have on site sheriff's deputies to maintain the quiet hours after midnight. Weekday nights are pretty low key, but Saturday night is hopping. Very strict on their rules. We keep staying here, primarily because of the location on the river. There are two river outfitters within a block. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park directly on river for rafting and fishing, however the river levels were very high and dangerous for rafting up steam but down steam there was plenty of white water for all. The camp is broken up into two sections, RV and tents. The RV side was excellent, however the “White Trash Bash” (tent) was a sight to see mostly for the entertainment value for the adults. It was little difficult getting out of the RV park in a big rig with a dead end turn around instead of an easy exit loop, still a great place for the family and we will return again. PS… NO DOGS ALLOWED. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here during the winter and enjoyed the river view from our site. Very clean and well maintained. Sites are somewhat narrow and close together but each has a concrete pad with a picnic table. Great place to stay in summer to access the Guadalupe River for tubing, canoing, and swimming. Well stocked camp store. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Pretty, but pricey for size and quality of site. No cable, very few pull-thrus, poor navigation, no one available after 5 pm, and despite their Woodalls listing, NO PETS - they make this very clear after you get in the park, repeatedly with signage everyway. In fact, signage is their best feature... lots of rules. Sorry, I won't be back- I expect more from a site than this. No public restrooms, or showers on RV side either. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Was okay place but right next to the road and you could hear the traffic all night long. More for the people who like to tube. I probably wouldn't go back but doesn't mean that it's not a nice place. More for your party type people. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is probably the nicest RV park on the River Road between Canyon Lake and New Braunfels. You can't beat the location by Huaco Springs and Slumber Falls. The staff is friendly and the sites are level. On crowded weekends in the peak season, I suspect they are tight. We were there in off season and could enjoy the beauty of the Guadalupe River in uncrowded conditions. The restroom facilities, though new, are not well kept. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park is located on River Road, probably as close as you can to the river without putting pontoons on your camper. Roads were asphalt, sites were gravel with concrete pad for picnic table. The sites are large enough to park your trailer and then your tow vehicle beside it. Small grill on site. The grounds were clean, but tent campers destroyed the bathrooms by the weekend. River access is easy from the concrete ramps. There are shallow pools in the river perfect for small kids. We have a another trip scheduled in August... I can't wait. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Too many dirty and trashy "Permanent" residents. Offer too many "Cabins" that are rented to what appear to be large families that add clutter and noise. We stayed one month. The advertised Wi-Fi never did work properly. Three times the staff was advised and they said that they couldn't do anything about it. They suggested that I call their Internet provider to complain!! Hot tub doesn't work properly, nor does the staff. If you like clutter, and staying next to sites that have permanent units that are in bad need of cleaning and repair, you'll love the place. The most enjoyment that I had there was watching people hook and unhook from sewage connectors that were uphill from their sites. If you have tanks, take a pump or siphoning hose. We left early and forfeited the balance of the rent we had paid. Not really a bad place, just has issues that are not being addressed. Does have some nice sites and shade, you may just insist on staying high on the hill, and near the entrance. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Allow me to preface this review by stating we are newbies in the world of RV parks. All of our previous experience has been in state and federal parks with only water and electric sites. This was our first experience with a “full hookup” style park. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and appearance of the park. We were partially prepared for the full hookup with good hose and connections. The sewer drains do have threaded collars. The sewer connection for our particular site looked to have been repaired and sat higher out of the ground making it hard to get the right slope on our drain hose. A quick trip to Wal-Mart to buy a hose support and we were in business. The park's location is great for accessing the many different hill country attractions. We were only 30 minutes from Sea World and 45 minutes from Austin. The 24 hour Laundromat was nice for those of us who spent all day site seeing. Our kids enjoyed the pool and game room. They were looking forward to jumping on the air trampoline until someone vandalized it and cut large holes in it. There is a lot of traffic from the trailer park that splits the property. This should disappear in the future as the trailers are replaced with cabins. Our voltmeter hovered close to the 112 volt range the entire week we were here. It came close to falling below 110 at least once, but I never saw it over 112. Overall this was a nice park with friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much we are trying to plan a large family reunion here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The rate quoted is Passport America, so the price is good. This is one of the better ones in the New Braunfels area. It's close enough to town to have many amenities within a mile or less. It's very easy to find. The office workers are among the nicest you will find in travelling. Some of the sites do, however, require some levelling, but it is on a hill side. Would definitely recommend this one. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
While this is a park that accommodates many permanent residents, this can be an adequate stopping spot for travelers. The office staff was a little cranky, maybe it was just a bad day. The operation covers 3 separate areas along a gently sloping terrain, and some sites may not be so level in the back motorhome area. There are pools and other amenities, but we didn't use them. There are a large number of "Winter Texans" as well, but these people seemed pretty friendly. The RV park is easy to access off I-35, and shopping is very close. Would we stay again? Probably, as it seems the best choice in the Schertz/New Braunfels area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice resort with clean showers, bathrooms, and park area. We only stayed the night so didn't get to enjoy any of the amenities. Only negative is that there are alot of permanent/semi-permanent residents, but they seem clean and well behaved. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The rate reflects a 15% Escapee discount. We stayed at this park one night as we were passing through. When I made reservations the day before, the woman was very insistent that check in time was 1:00. We got here about 11:30 and she made a big deal again about check in even though the site we occupied was empty. We have a short motorhome, but even with that, maneuvering to get into the site was difficult. It was a very narrow site and very unlevel. We had to use blocks under the front wheel to level, something we do not often experience at commercial campgrounds. There was a wooden deck that had a sharp metal object attached, not good. The park is very close to the interstate and road noise is quite loud, at least at our site. Perhaps it would not be an issue at some of the other sites. We were close to the entrance and the dumpster, so we had lots of company. We would stay here again only if we needed a place to crash for one night, certainly would not make this a destination spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A decent overnight stop. Front sites are fairly level. Note the cancellation policy. I canceled a reservation 45 days in advance and was charged a $25 fee, even though daily rate was $18. It is on their website. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here a week while visiting area. Lots to see and do not far from San Antonio, LBJ Ranch, Fredricksburg and others. Friendly staff lots of activities at the park. Wood work shop and two pools. Lots of snowbirds in this big park. Nice and would stay here again. 9 is about the best I give for ratings. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a huge park with two large sections separated by a park model area. The area that we were parked in was rather run down, with gravel parking areas but with a concrete patio. Our patio had a large broken piece making it difficult to use. The residents and staff are very friendly and we will likely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We spent the month of November at this nice park this year. This is our second visit. The park is well maintained, the restrooms and showers are spotless and the laundry is excellent. There is some freeway noise depending on location of your site. There are lots of planned activities, nice pools, spa, and exercise room. This is the nicest park in New Braunfels in our opinion. We will definitely be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were here during torrential thunder storms but did not have a flood problem as we were in the upper area and did not experience the problems that downpour rain (some said up to 5 inches in 24 hours) can inflict. The site was quiet, plenty of space, and staff was nice. Two things to watch for: first is if you want a "gazebo" site look first because your slides may not work well with the way the park built the gazebos. Second, be careful if you have mail forwarded - our priority mail ended up on the floor in the wrong building and we had to track it down, which we considered sloppy work by the mail handler. Other than that, we really liked this park and would have stayed longer if not for the rain and storms. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very tight maneuvering. Slabs were extremely close to hookups, if you are in a big rig. Entering and exiting sites was extremely difficult. The roads were in poor condition. Too many seasonal guests that made "additions" to their site. Owners need to decide if they want to be a campground or a trailer park. Laundry facility was nice, with fairly new machines, however the walkway to it was poorly lit at night. Pool and hot tub looked nice, as well. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The staff was friendly at check-in. Most sites seem to be permanent. The rate reflects the Good Sam discount. Site patio and table were filthy with tree trash and bird droppings. WI-FI worked only about 10 percent of the time. Laundry and bathrooms were clean. Permanent neighbor said park had new owner about a year ago and wasn't customer oriented. Noticed an empty site with a water leak and pool of water at check-in. About a week later the water was shut off during a shower. Office tried to justify the lack of notice for the shutoff by saying a notice was placed on the bulletin board. No attempt of an apology. I will not again stay at this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A bit tight to maneuver, but good park. No cement slabs. Very small cabins, for sale or rent, on site. Quiet and lots of trees. Large pool/spa and separate large club house. Activities every day with a monthly schedule in office. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It is not a 50+ park. There are many permanent residents. Trees at sites are poorly located to get in and out of spots. Main swimming pool and area are in terrible condition. We did not find many friendly people. It would have been nice is permanent residents and those of us not permanent were clustered. Our neighbors were permanent so we did not get to know them. There were not many activities and no activity director. We stayed for two months at the monthly rate of $375 plus electric. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Friendly staff and right on the highway. Great for overnighters and are adding cabins regularly. Great location, as we were visiting New Braunfels and San Antonio. Will definitely stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The campground was in need of repairs - roads are rough, dump stations was not working and there are lots of long-time "residents". We were fortunate to camp next to a long-term couple who had bird feeds directly outside our windows. It was delightful to watch the various birds feed at our neighbor's location. The trees need to be trimmed because one ripped the top of our camper as we were leaving the site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
They honor Good Sam and other discounts if you ask. Staff was very nice and helpful. Have lots of long term residents that are very friendly. Pool and hot tub inside of buildings. The campground needs quite a bit of repairs. Just stayed 1 night overall it was OK, guess I would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Close to I-35. Friendly staff! Very, very narrow sites for larger rigs to pull into. Best amenity is easy off and on I-35. Would stay again, but not for other than overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were in site #282 and it was level and away from I-35. Good campground, lots of friendly people, excellent staff. No noise, etc. We will come back to the campground. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
The park has a lot of friendly people who are escaping the cold of the north. The pull through in the second section are large enough for a large RV with a tow. It is a little run down but there are new owners and they promise improvements. The only down side is that you can hear road noise from I-35. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a large, clean park with many seasonal or permanent residents. We were in the upper section, so I cannot speak for the other area. It is big rig friendly, but some sites are not good due to the branches. The sites are level with grass between. All roads are paved. The grass could have been mowed, picnic tables stained/painted, etc. The cable has a very large number of channels. We spent two nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not really big rig friendly. Pull thru site barely long enough for 36' with toad. Downhill lie so bad I couldn't come close to level. Difficult to maneuver interior roads with motorhome and toad. Lots of permanent residents. Don't know the criteria for resort but I am sure this campground is not. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a no frills park, but accommodating. Lady in office very nice, but does not know sites. We called in a reservation asking for a space without trees. When we arrived, we could no way get into the pull through site, not even backing in. It is best to get into your toad and check out site first. The sites are not level (in dirt) and can be rutted after a rain. Very narrow when pulling into pull through sites because of the trees and high concrete patio. Friendly place, nothing special, but good for short stays. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a huge park that is primarily oriented towards seasonal and permanent residents. Part of the park is dedicated to mobile and manufactured homes. There seems to be one section of the park for short term stays, and it's not particularly pretty. Then again, nothing about this place is pretty. It's easy to tell that at some point this was a cool place. Those days seem long gone, though. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have been going to the river for 25 years. I have camped at almost everysite except this was our first time and last to camp at KL Ranch camp. I made our reservatons months in advance. We camped in site 94 which was right on the river. The view was beautiful but the camping experience was terrible. There is one road in and the same road out and it is not paved. There is a constant cloud of dust and dirt in the air. The campsites are not mowed or groomed and the tender trees are dried up and starving for a drink of water. The bathrooms are the most disgusting filthy bathrooms I have ever seen. We used our utility shower and other means of toileting and stayed clear of the restrooms. This is not for famillys as we had hoped it is all about getting drunk and bad language. When returning from dinner one night, they had locked the gate and we could not get back into our campsite. We drove around and around untill someone finally came and opned the locked gate so we could get into our site. They proceded to remind us that the gates lock at 10;30. We had returned at 11;00. I have never been locked in a camping area and don't intend to ever be again. Campers beware. The river is beautiful it's a shame greedy people have access to it, who are not putting any money or care into the camping end of it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Wow, what a weekend we had camping at KL Ranch Camp. This is a hidden gem in the Texas Hill Country. Some of the sites are very tough to get into, but you can make it was easy maneuvering. We camped right on the banks of the Guadalupe River less than 15' from the bank of the river. We had a wonderful time shopping in historic Gruene. KL Ranch Camp does have a short camping season, March to September. We'll definitely make a return trip next Spring. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Horrible, horrible, horrible is the only word to describe this campground (if anyone would even call this a campground!)!! First of all it is in a horrible location in New Braunfels, TX. You have to drive all over the city to get down into the area where they are located (WARNING: there is a bridge that only has an 11FT clearance on the way to the park)! It took us over 2 hours to FIND the place then another 3 hours trying to find someone to help us set up a reservation! Finally once someone did come to "help" (a Workamper that had NO CLUE what she was talking about) she couldn't answer most of our questions! She flip flopped her stories about how much the rate was per night then couldn't answer us on how much a monthly rate was. They don't offer a weekly rate. After she stared at her computer screen, which seemed for hours, she finally told us we owe $60 for TWO nights during OFF season! I then explained that we only wanted TWO nights (like I originally stated) but for some reason she just couldn't figure out on her calendar of how to change the dates! Then her rate she quoted us first was $15/night then jumped up to $20/night! A Wal-Mart parking lot is MUCH more pleasant than this place. There are SEVERAL LOUD TRAINS that go blaring past the park - VERY VERY LOUD and constant...all day...all night! I could post more but I think you get the drift of what this place is. Keep in mind this place does flood! On a positive note it is located on Comal River. Crystal clear water and excellent for tubing and fishing. There are many beautiful campgrounds in this area of Texas - this just so happens to NOT be one of them. The people there (that live there and work there) are very rude and not helpful! Move on down the road and give your money to a campground that wants to welcome you with open arms! I normally would never post anything negative or rude but I believe that people need to be aware of the truth! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We were here in the off season and the place was not crowded. The host did warn us about the trains that come through the night and they were loud!. That is really the only complaint. I would recommend this park if you do not have anything over 35 foot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
When we first arrived at this campground we were really excited...until we actually saw our site. It was on a hill overlooking the Comal River but it was a long way down the hill. The bathrooms were within walking distance. They were not clean and always smelled. My family and I would wear our shoes while showering. It also wasn't very private. The stall doors were only about three feet in length and did not lock. The showers had nothing but a thin green curtain separating you from everyone else coming and going. The Train. It came by at least six or seven times a day. It was extremely irritating to wake up at two o'clock in the morning to the sound of the train rumbling by. For the sake of the Comal River I thought it was excellent. The water was cool and clear. I only spotted one snake!!! I gave it a five out of ten rating. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a family park right on the Comal River in downtown New Braunfels, Texas. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. When I made reservations, I thought that we would be staying in the Landa Municipal Park which is an excellent city owned park. But, I discovered upon our arrival that they do not have camping facilities. This Landa RV Resort Park is a private park. It appears to be an old park, all gravel, cramped, and very dusty. They cannot handle rigs over 35' although they did get us in with a 36' motorhome. There are several sites right on the Comal River, excellent for tubing, which is the big tourist attraction here in New Braunfels. Now that is the good part. The bad is that our site is within 150' of a very busy RR track. Hmmm, I don't remember seeing that on their web site! The trains come roaring through all the time, at least every 30 minutes during the day and it seems that often at night. You can feel it coming long before you ever hear the blast of the horns. We are pretty lucky in that some sites back up to within 20' of the train track. My wife and I have had a great time here simply because we can't stop laughing at how lucky we were to find this place. It reminds me of the episode of I Love Lucy, when Lucy and Ethel stayed in a small cabin near the tracks and every time the train roared through, there bed would rumble from one side of the room to the other. Yikes, I think I feel another one coming right now! &^%*&^%$#@! Can you feel it? We have 2 more nights to get through, because you can't cancel a reservation within 14 days of your stay. That should have told me something! OK, enough said. This is a great park if you love the rumble of freight trains and being awakened by the blast of an air horn 150' from your bedroom window in the middle of the night. Would I stay here again? I'd rather sleep in a cardboard box under a bridge! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here visiting friends who are building a home in the area and living in their motorhome in this park. In the summer it's a great place if you're interested in partying on the Guadelupe River with a family. They do not allow pets during the summer. It's not a place to stay if you're on a longer RV vacation. Due to being in a valley, regular TV is virtually non-existent, but you can get good satelite reception. WiFi is decent. If we were coming to the area again, we wouldn't select any of the parks along the river. During the winter they cater to long termers, aka Winter-Texans. Of the parks in the area, it is probably the best of the lot. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The Lazy L&L is located on the scenic Gualaloupe River in New Braunfels, Texas. My wife and I stayed here primary to gain access to the river for fly fishing (excellent spot!!). Campground is very clean and well run. No CATV, however - and we were unable to pick up and stations with the antenna. Wi-Fi is excellent!! They do have a new Community Center where folks meet to play cards, watch TV, etc.. Downside to this campground is the bathhouse. It was in the 30's in the mornings and bathrooms here are not heated. Shower was nice and hot, but they are pay showers (token-operated). Please note the manager provided us tokens at no charge, so I presume this arrangement is more for the 'tubers' that frequent the area during the summer. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Lazy L&L and we will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park with large spaces, tables and covered BBQ's at the sites. On this trip there were a lot of winter Texans, but the place was not full. The weather was unseasonably cold and wet so it was quiet and pretty empty during our stay. The facilities were immaculate. There is a small camp store at the entrance and the workers were very helpful with directions, etc. It's close to the town of Sattler for groceries. (2.5 miles) This park looks like it would be a good place to spend some time in the spring and fall. During the summer it gets pretty crazy with all the "toobers" going down the river. We would use this RV park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I chose this park for the proximity for fly fishing the Guadalupe River: you will not find a better spot. Very nice owners and staff who are genuine in making sure you enjoy the stay. The snowbirds in residence were friendly and helpful. Be Aware: the Garmin directions are incorrect. Ended up on a no-outlet road at 9:00pm, raining and no turn arounds. Rate was blended for extended stay and PA. The meeting and workout rooms were a plus. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground was very spacious and the sites were very big and easy to get into. The park was clean and the staff was very friendly. They landscaping was nice and neat. This park is on the banks of a river that scores of people frequent in the summer to tube on, but not too many there in the fall. We would definitely stay here again. It was a great place for not much money. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Excellent family owned and operated campground! Very reasonable winter rates! Clean and well maintained grounds. Located right on the beautiful, crystal clear Guadalupe river. Big rig friendly and free Wi-Fi! Laundry facilities right on site. Only about a 3 mile drive to access stores. We HIGHLY recommend this location to any RVer - short or long term! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great park for the off season time frame. We probably would not want to be here when it is crowded with tent campers who want to party on the river. The park is very clean and the staff is wonderful. Bathrooms are kept clean but are basic concrete block buildings with shower curtains on the bathroom stalls. Cell service is terrible, which is not the park's fault. Love the river and view of the hills. Good monthly rate starting in Oct. Would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is the second year in a row I have spent at this campground. The quality was consistent to last year. They patrol very well, keep the trash clean at the individual sites, and are pretty friendly. The downside is the dust, and the bathrooms. They try to keep them clean but its practically impossible considering the number of tent sites compared to number of toilets. It's an extra letdown since you have to pay to use the showers. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground exceeded my expectations!! I was a little apprehensive about driving my 30ft trailer up River Road, but I came down from the horseshoe/canyon lake side and was an easy pull. The campground itself had a nice 'feel' to it, but more important it seemed very well run. The Guadalupe can sometimes be quite a party place, but the L&L requires wrist bands to even be in the campground. I saw patrols at night, guards a the gate and felt VERY secure there. after 10:00 at night there were not parties, loud music etc. I'll definitely return if possible. Only thing is, I don't think they allow pets, so you might want to check that out if staying there. (ed. note: Lazy L&L website states that no pets are allowed during the summer months). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice park. We stayed there a month. It is family owned and everyone was very helpful, including bringing mail to our motorhome. All facilities were nice and clean. Showers were a little forceful and they cost a dollar token for seven minutes. Easy access to the river by way of a walkway with rail. Tubing available with rapids. Fishing for trout was good. We will stay there several winter months. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The nicest private park on the Guadalupe river. Theres actually a camping area here as opposed to a field of RV's. Some of the spaces at the river are shaded and quite nice. This campground is not really that special except for the river access and they will even let you use your own "tubs" unlike other camps on the river. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Would have enjoyed it better if they had a pool. Also the road to get to their campground is narrow and very winding. Hard to see in the dark at night not any lights on it. Otherwise park was okay don't know if I'd go back again. They also don't allow pets for you pet people. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice, well kept campground. The bathrooms were a let down. Although it was obvious they were cleaned early in the day, use had left them in poor condition. Showers required tokens, but we were not informed of this at checkout. Desk was closed before we discovered this issue. Sights were spaced close together. Lots of dust and dirt with very little grass. Some of the pull through sites looked to be very nice with grass, but were off the river. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Back again in 2005...great place to winter on Guadalupe River. Wireless internet has been added. Understand pets are allowed in winter. Rainbow trout just released in river. It is very quiet here and steet lights do not shine into your coach! You can actually watch the heavens. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great family oriented campground on the beautiful Guadalupe River in New
Braunfels, TX. If winter texans are looking for a quiet, serene campground for the winter, this is it! We have been here since mid-Oct and love being close to the river. There is great trout fishing here as well. I cannot say enough about how beautiful and well kept this campground is and the winter rates are VERY reasonable! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a totally neat park in an unexpected location. Hidden under a freeway overpass on the bank of the Guadalupe River, the park makes great use of otherwise unusable land. Despite being under the interstate, the noise didn't bother us. All the sites are level concrete with room to park additional vehicles. Maneuvering with a big rig requires some experience or patience, but staff members escorted campers to their sites and assisted as ground-guides until campers were parked. All staff members were very friendly and accommodating. Bath houses were the cleanest I've ever seen. The park is pet-friendly and has a nice grassy area for dogs. Call ahead for park information and reservations as there are a ton of requirements that must be met before campers are authorized to use the park, i.e. age of rig, size and breed of pets, etc. Great park. We intend to plan a special trip in the future for more than just a night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very well maintained campsite with friendly and helpful staff. Laundry & restrooms have coded locks and are immaculately clean. We would not stay in the middle of the campground again because it was crowded. If we stay here again, it will be on a river site. Even though this park is close to the I-35 highway, we didn't mind the constant hum of traffic as much as the continual traffic coming and going into the camp site itself since sites are right on the driveway. Pets are allowed, but if more than one dog, the charge is $3.00 extra per day which seems excessive and I don't understand. There is a large riverside grassy area to walk dogs. Bottom line, this is a very nice clean RV park and is close to many stores, shopping malls, theater in beautiful New Braunfels. We would stay here again in a waterfront site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Have stayed here several times, the last one for seven months. Will return. Very friendly staff and a very clean campground. The only reason for not giving a perfect 10 is the road noise from the TWO Interstate highway bridges running down both sides of the campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here one night en route to south Texas. It is a handy RV park off I-35 but the interstate noise is prominent. The sites are very nice: newer utility posts, all slabs are concrete. Restrooms are nice but key-locked and we had to get a key from the manager after office hours. The directions were confusing and we missed any signs the first time. Nice river path nearby to walk pets. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a small park right on the river and directly under I-35 the site are level, the staffs friendly, can't get any closer to the freeway to get back on. The directions to get there are a bit convoluted regardless of what books i used to get there but we finely found it, grounds are immaculate . The only reason I gave this park a 5 is because of the noise both cars and trains. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The staff is very friendly and seemed to care about the comfort of each individual. However, we were supposed to be in a deluxe site which was in the middle of the campground. These are not the best sites and should be standard and not deluxe. They are small sites for a 38ft trailer, the sites on the river (13 and 14) were much bigger and should have cost the most but were the cheapest and in the shade. We would stay here again, but not in the center of the campground. You do not need your golf cart in this campground, it is on the small side. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very modern campground with all concrete roomy sites. Close to river. Biggest negative was you are parked directly under I-35 and access roads. Noise was loud and constant. We stayed 2 nights because we made reservation by phone prior to arrival. Would look for a quieter campground if we come to New Braunfels again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow! I haven't been to a park this clean before. The bath houses were spotless, they had a very nice clean laundry facility. The staff were very genuine, friendly, and knowledgable about the area. We had free cable tv with I know over 50 channels or so and free wi fi with great connection. The park is located right off the I 35 on the beautiful Guadalupe river. We highly reccomend anyone to check this one out. We made reservations to return during spring break next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Although we only spent one night here, we will come back and spend more time in this area. Our site was on the river, and very roomy and level. We made our reservation On-line, and found that there were other, less expensive, sites available when we got there. Next time we'll call for our reservation to see what is available at that time. Another very minor complaint would be the directions on both their Website and in the directories. Upon exiting the park, we decided that there is an easier way into the park for our next visit. However, as I said earlier, we will be back for a longer stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the perfect place to spend a night or two. We saw the sign on HWY I35 traveling to Austin, it was late and we were tired of driving, we pulled up and were greeted warmly by the on site manager. He escorted us to a site, helped with the hook ups, and said we can handle the paper work in the morning. This is a beautiful clean state of the art resort with all sites 20/30/50 amp full hookups, paved roads, cement pads, and each site has its own patio and picnic table. The bath houses were spotless, and we had free WiFi and over 70 cable TV channels. We definitely will be back in the summer to enjoy the beautiful river the resort sit on. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We chose RRV simply because they were the only park in New Braunfels that had any vacancy for our weekend and allowed pets, plus they still have reasonable prices. Nightly prices are from $30 for a “standard” site to $45 for a “deluxe river view”. The park also has weekly rates. All rates are for 2 persons, up to 2 pets, and 1 veh. All sites are concrete with 20/30/50 amp, water, sewer, cable and WIFI included. I hear the park was obliterated by the floods of 2004 so everything is very new. The staff also indicated that they just opened in Oct (2007). Be prepared that the Guadalupe CAN flood like any river. This park is right on the river. When you check in you will have to sign a waiver allowing them to move your rig if you’re not there and a flood is coming. River Ranch is located along the Guadalupe River underneath Interstate 35 and Hwy 81 bridges. All sites are concrete although we found ours was a little off level side to side. My wife didn’t have a problem with it but I’m a bit obsessive with level. Bring your blocks or levelers. There are only about 6 pull through sites. All have a picnic table and bit of grass. The park has a boat ramp, restrooms and laundry facilities and a boat ramp. What I liked: The staff are friendly and helpful. They guide you to, and assist with backing in to your site. I had some problems getting on the WIFI and even though the office was closed the gentleman who answered came by to help. The river access is awesome even if you are not in a river front sight. You could theoretically tube down the Comal or Guadalupe right to the park, but I doubt many do! I also liked that there are “work-campers” who live in the park are accessible and patrol the park to make sure everything is OK. What I didn’t like: The biggest drawback to this park is the highway noise from I-35. Our trailer has tent ends and it didn’t bother us too much but if you’re looking for that “camping” feel you won’t get it at RRV. RRV also borders a city park & public boat ramp. There is a short fence partially separating RRV from this park. I gather that RRV tried to put up a “flood friendly” fence, but I really didn’t feel very secure and would have appreciated a taller fence that went all the way up to the road. Overall: RRV is a nice friendly new park with great great river access. We spent a lot of time swimming and tubing in the river right next to our trailer. Their prices and location are great! However the park is under the highway and next to a city boat ramp. If you are looking for a “destination” RRV is not for you. If you are looking for a great place to put your RV while in New Braunfels this is a decent place to stop. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Although just below Interstate 35, it was very peaceful. Right on the river. The managers were very nice and friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Campground is closed, evidently to prior flooding. Website was up, but phone was disconnected and campground was closed. It must have happened in 11/2004 from what I could find out about news accounts. . .felt that they could have noted that on the website instead of letting it look like they were open and causing us to divert to them and then have to turn around and leave. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This nice park is on the Guadalupe River and has access for tubing, small watercraft, etc. Nice sites with good electric (during the summer heat, this was important.) We would stay there again! It's a nice location to explore New Braunfels, Gruene ("Green"), and the San Antonio area from. DO watch for the entrance, though...it's the light that's before (heading south) or after (heading north) the river from the Business 35 road. No problem for Big Rigs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have been camping on the Guadalupe River for 30 years and have camped here for the past 13. We wanted a more family oriented campground when our kids began bringing our grand kids camping. We love this campground. It is the best location on the river. Almost half the sites are directly on the river and the rest are right across the camp road from it. From one end to the other the camp has rapids, slower deep water, and a wonderful natural gravel beach area for family fun with small children. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful beyond what should be expected. The camp is kept clean and the bathrooms are cleaned at least twice daily. Loud, rowdy campers are warned, then sent packing if they can not maintain a decent manner and the quiet time of 10 p.m. is enforced. There is a small store right next door and also an outfitter so all the basics are in walking distance. We would not stay anywhere else, nor would our kids and all the many friends who have camped with us over the years. They have a good number of tent sites with electricity and the bulk of the sites have both water and electricity. Dogs under 15 pounds are allowed in campers but no dogs are allowed in tents. The only negative is that they have such a steady clientele it is hard to get a weekend reservation during the summer. Fourth generations of families are still camping here. They must be doing something right. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The people at River Road Camp were very nice and everything was very clean. They had many sites right on the river. We had a GREAT experience at this campground. I would highly recommend staying there. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I was excited by how well our late (after dark)arrival was handled and how nice the folks were. This soon faded the next day when it came time to pay up and the day crew took over. I was quoted a rate on the phone, but lots of extra fees / taxes plus charges for kids and then when our friends came by to pick us up for dinner, they wouldn't let them in without charging them as well. Lots of wrist bands to wear and parking passes to display and it was just not that great a place. Very dry weather had the river down a bunch and our stuff was coated with dust, inside and out. We checked out a few other parks in the area and unless you want one "close" to the water, there are others that look better. It looks like they built cabins where the good sites were at one time. Bonus - Stop at Ninfa's Taco stand up at the "Y" when headed toward Canyon Lake. Best breakfast tacos ever, but not much to look at. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very friendly staff. Quiet park, but probably busy during the summer months when rafting and tubing begins on the river. This is the Guadalupe River just below the dam on Canyon Lake. Easy to find and easy to navigate. Roads and sites were gravel but level. River is beautiful and we were there in late December when the water was high. I can only imagine what its like when the trees are full and the river goes down a bit. Will definitely make this place a stop when visiting the hill country. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great RV park. If it hadn't been pouring, it would have been even better, but you can't fault the park for that! We stayed for three nights and saw 4-5 deer every day. The site we were in was moderately level. Major problem we had was the poor cell phone reception. Three days without the ability to make phone calls in the RV was tiring, but if you simply want to relax, you can't do much better than this campground. We would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a fantastic place to come and relax. We were here for 9 days. It was very quiet with only 9 rigs. We enjoyed the company of at least 6-8 deer every night. This small valley is splendid. Satellite TV reception was great, and our own broadband for the computer worked just great. We loved the pool and hot tub. Ya'll come down and camp here soon. It's one of the best resorts we've ever been in. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I entered $10 here because we have a membership with Coast to Coast. This resort was great! We were here for 5 days. There was tons of things to do. Deer in our campsite every day and night. They have 4 pools here. The spots were gravel but pretty level and long enough to accommodate our 40' 5th wheel. The sites were roomy and the campground was easy to maneuver our rig in. Bathhouses (showers, toilets, etc.) were very clean. The staff was extremely friendly including informing us on places to eat, things to do in the area, etc. Had 24hr security also. You can now get Wi-Fi here, however you have to go to the pool area to get it. Also, this place being in the Hill Country it drops periodically. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a Coast to Coast rate. Friendly staff. Neat and clean. 50 sites are full hook up. Many sites not level. A lot of amenities. No wi-fi, no cable. Sites do need more gravel. Nice and quiet. In a steep valley, TV reception poor. Verizon works just "ok". Verizon air card worked well. Woodall rates this a 5 "w". The condos and cabins may be a 5 "w", but we are rating the RV park. Maybe if we had a level paved site with wi-fi and cable we would rate this higher. Close to Canyon Lake. Two pools and two hot tubs. A very nice area to visit. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a Coast to Coast resort. It is a great Texas Hill Country RV Park. Have stayed here 2 times and the owners were very helpful. Only down side Dirt/gravel pads need to be reworked and leveled. We camped here in a Motorhome.
