Good park for a few days, but not for longer stays. Sites are very close together and noise from Highway 31 can be loud at times. Place is clean and staff friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. We were in Tyler to see the rose gardens and attend the East Texas State Fair. The park was very close to both and very convenient to everything in Tyler. The park has long pull thru concrete pads which was great because it rained for 2 days and we didn't have to deal with mud and dirt getting into our rig. The office has a movie library that has about 350 movies that guest can check out at no charge. The facilities were very clean and the owners were great. We stayed for 4 days and will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The concrete roadway to our site was crumbling; the restroom was in need of attention with a stopped up toilet and no paper products. The Wi-Fi signal was slow and intermittent at best. The next day the water to the park was turned off without warning. When confronted we were told by the owner: "there's a break .. we'll have it fixed in a while." No apologies for the inconvenience or lack of notice. No shade and temperatures were near 100 degrees F. With the right management and upkeep this could be a nice place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for 4 months. Concrete pads, but no picnic tables. Site # 50 is a nice level site and wide enough for a 5th wheel or motorhome. We were not bothered by the owners but they were always there when they were needed. They were very helpful when asked and they keep the park in tiptop shape. Very neat and clean. Some sites are very narrow and would not allow awnings to be fully extended. Sites around the concrete pads are gravel. They have storage on site also that is security protected. Will stay here again and recommend this park to others. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a week visiting family in the area. We have stayed here before and liked the park but it has gone downhill since our last stay. The site was very narrow making it difficult to open our awning. There is a huge amount of junk around some of the long term sites and several junky FEMA trailers are there. We stayed in the park while visiting family. The owners are super friendly and the park is clean and well maintained.It is conveniently located in town so that you are not too far from anywhere, but not much road noise to deal with. The sites are easy to pull into. Seemed to be a lot of workers staying there but there were plenty of sites open for those of us who come and go. We will stay here again. The only good thing about this park was the cement slabs were level but surrounded by large (ankle turning) rocks and you were right next to your neighbor. There seemed to be a lot of monthlies that had lots of stuff around their rigs. Pets are accepted BUT the pet walk area was on a steep hillside and at the very back of the park. Rate reflects Passport America. Would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground is pleasant. The concrete pads are level and there is no mud. The bathrooms are heated/cooled and cleaned daily. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. They sell propane on site which is convenient. We have two children and the park owners welcomed our children even though there is no play equipment. We have enjoyed our stay. We've camped here many times and will always return. The facilities are always clean, the concrete pads are level with easy access. Park staff are helpful and friendly. Laundry, rest rooms and laundry are kept clean as is the fenced in dog area. The convenience of having propane available is a plus. Quiet and clean and we will return. It has very small sites in both width and length. We have a small 5th wheel and truck and we stuck out in the road on both ends - most larger RV nearly blocked the entire road - making to hard to pull in or out. Sites are so narrow - could not put out our awning and the people on the left of us nearly hit our slide out with their truck. Two restrooms that were nasty - I was told they only clean them once a week - they were a mess. There are better parks in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an excellent park with very friendly staff that lead you to your site. It is very clean and nicely laid out with level sites and concrete roads. It had all the amenities and the wifi and cable TV worked flawlessly. It is close to the loop of Tyler, TX which means lots of restaurants and shopping are close by. We stayed 2 days and were very pleased. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I really don't know what the daily rate is as we are paying a monthly rate. We are here for a couple of months and while the spaces are somewhat close together it is not a problem. Good neighbors. Close enough to town to do business things yet far enough out you don't have to hassle with traffic. Hwy 31 can be a little noisy at times but as quiet as east Texas is all quiets down after dark. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a Good Sam and Passport America park. They have raised the PA rate to $17.50 per night for a maximum of 6 nights. Require cash for PA. Park is all concrete and gravel. Level sites, easy to pull into and out off with toad attached. Propane available on site. Easy access to everywhere in Tyler. Some noise from Highway 31. VERY friendly owners and staff. Couldn't do enough for you. We will use this park again when we are in Tyler. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a good place for a night or two, but hard to find. It is about 2.5 miles off the main road and no signs pointing the way. As in about all RV parks the Wi-Fi was very weak, about 3 bars, but my Verizon air card worked great. The lady that checked us in was very friendly. The parking spaces are white rock and grass, fairly level though. I would stay here again if coming this way. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was the second time we have stayed in this park. If you want a "fancy-dancy" park with all the extras, then pass this one by, but if you are looking for a nice, safe, quiet, little park, this is a gem. We love the park, and it will be a regular stop for us on our migration south in the fall and north in the spring. There seems to be a few permanent residents in the park, but they are friendly, and their sites are nice. The Wifi worked well, and the laundry rooms are clean. There is a nice trail for walking dogs, and the park managers are very friendly & helpful. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is not very big so it would be wise to make a reservation. The park is very quiet and the people are friendly and helpful. There is a nice walking trail for dogs and the Wi-Fi worked well. This park is a good base for visiting the area. Nothing fancy but all the essentials are here. Wi-Fi is good but might have to log in frequently. We stayed a week while awaiting work on our motorhome and used the camp as a base for the many geocaches in and around Tyler. Manager is friendly and helpful. They have a trail around the back part of the park. It is not woodsy all the way but it is good for exercise and dog walking. We paid a weekly rate which is the same as the parks PA discount rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Free WI-FI was great. Only the center spots are paved, the side ones are lacking ... pads were level gravel, but then we had a rain and to get out of our camper we had to step through/in large puddles. VERY close to town! You'll love how close it is but still relatively quiet. A few full timers that work super early - 4:30am we got a wake up call from our neighbors truck. Asked him to move so not to wake our kids and was kind about it. It certainly is nothing fancy, but it seems that they are working on improvements and enlarging. Wish they would improve what's there before they enlarged. Affordable laundry. PA rate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

With use of our Camp Club USA 50% discount, $14 is a good rate. VERY good Wi-Fi, near big stores and Tyler. Pull throughs are big but unfortunately many long stay workers who kept there engines running early morning (5:30 am). The setting is lay-back but still the road near the campground is busy at night. Park has continued to improve since our last visit in December. Almost all sites are now concrete pads or level crushed stone and the recently installed new wi-fi system is fast and reliable. The previous reviewer mentioned the area approaching the park but do not let that put you off. We have always found the park conducive to a pleasant stay, and this time was no exception. The owner is very accommodating and helpful and the park is great value for money. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Don't let the name fool you. This park is a couple of miles down a country road lined with older, often dilapidated homes and businesses. When we pulled in we saw a sign saying, "I'm working somewhere in the park. Call xxx-xxx-xxxx". We drove through the small park to take a look around. What we saw was not even close to the photos or description on their website. The few concrete pads were occupied by long-term campers. One had a permanent metal carport-type awning erected over the camper. The remaining few sites were gravel and dirt with no shade, open to the blazing sun. There was a large area of East Texas red dirt churned up across from the vacant sites, which was generating a lot of dust from someone driving around in a golf cart. It was apparent that some type of work was going on, but the park and the area overall didn't look conducive to a pleasant stay, so we left. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice, hospitable owner. Level, limestone pads at most sites. Serene scenery on webpage depicts area adjoining RV park - depicted area not really visible from the RV park. Many full time residents. Park was clean and quiet during our 3 day stay. Certainly not a resort, but good enough for a short stay. For the money, tough to beat this little park if you have business in the Tyler area. No problem at all with access roads. Price reflects Good Sam discount. A great little park - have stayed here several times - which is easily the best value for money park in Tyler. (Our rate of $14 is Passport America). We did not have any problems with our 40' motorhome on the access roads. Free cable and Wi-Fi were excellent and restrooms and showers were clean. The owner is making many improvements including more sites, concrete pads, shade shelters over some sites and a rec. room. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The staff were helpful on the phone but the park is not the greatest. There is only one toilet which was far from clean and there was no toilet paper anywhere to be found. This small park was adequate for our needs, which was to stay a couple of nights. We stayed here three nights. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful. Helped us get into our site. The exterior roads are good and the interior roads are paved. Our site was grass but they are upgrading and are putting in concrete sites. The majority of the sites house full timers, who work during the day. We were lucky to get the last space. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a small park that is right across the street from a Rodeo complex. The roads approaching this park are not in the best condition but they were passable. The park is basically all grass and the RV sites are wide and long. We were parked near the front of the park and traffic noise was not a problem. Don't know what it would be like if there was a rodeo going on. We would stay there again when in the area. The Wi-Fi and cable worked fine. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice little park. The owner/manager is friendly and helpful. We decided to stay 2 nights instead of the one we had planned. There's a lovely walk through woods and beside a pond. This is a nice park. It is quiet except for local car traffic. The park is 2.5 miles south of I-20. Local road and scenery to the park make you wonder about the RV park, but it is very clean and manager is very friendly and easy going. The park takes all discounts. We stayed 4 nights. Excellent place to park while doing things in Tyler, nothing fancy, decent size level sites with good hook-ups. We were there a week, no road noise that we notice, no firing range noise, the wi-fi was out for four days as they were redoing the entire system nut it was up and running our last day. Before we arrived, we called to make sure they had wireless internet and they (the manager) said they had "good internet service." We arrived on a Friday and we didn't have service on Saturday, Sunday or the Monday when we left. We kept asking about the service and then we were told that it is a "complimentary service" and they do not have to provide it. We would have never moved there if they were just up front with us and told us from the beginning that the internet works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. We always stay at a park that provides the internet and have never had this much trouble. Also there is a firing range nearby and it is very loud. The neighbors in the mobile home park are noisy and also the road in front of the rv park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a neat park. Located out in the country in a beautiful, quiet farm area. Owners are very friendly and helpful. It is definitely big rig friendly. We are 70 ft long and had plenty of room. Lucky we found this park as they are not yet listed in the campground books. You won't be disappointed in this park if your looking for an easy quick location for a good price. Nice, clean park. Rates are reasonable, and it's a great place if you like to fish. There is a park host that lives on site, and the owners are very nice. The lake is about 10 acres, and it's well worth the little extra cost to get a lakefront site. It really is 'hidden.' It can be a little hard to find, but there is no traffic noise, even though the park is just off the loop. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The park is the best run park we stayed in this winter. We stayed a month and the time was extremely enjoyable. We paid $325.00 a month plus electricity. The park has a 5 acre fishing lake that you don't need a Texas fishing license to fish in as the lake is privately owned. The owners are extremely nice as well as helpful people. We learned they are putting in four new pads that will be 40' by 24' and covered. This has prompted us to consider coming back to spend the entire winter next year. I wish more parks were as neat, clean, and well run as this park. Congratulations to the owners, as I generally don't have this many good things to say about a park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

There are shared utilities on 6 paved pull-through sites; others are grass back-ins, mostly occupied by long-term folks. There is excellent free W-FI, free CATV, 1 common use covered grill & table, playground, laundry, showers. Utility hookups are surrounded by pipe barrier that complicates sewer connection. Decent park but suffering from some neglect (handles broken off water hydrants, etc.) We would return again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Located south of I-20 at mile marker 562. Nice level,paved or asphalt pads on most sites. Has a playground and basketball hoop for the kids. Laundry room available. They have a sheltered picnic table and grill. A few small trees. Park is very quiet and secure. Staff is very pleasant and friendly! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The site we had was a dump, junk cars, boats and motorcycles on the next site, trash around the permanent trailers nearby. Permanent mobile home next to our site had a tied out dog the left his droppings all over our site. Uncapped sewer connection on our site. Price was for holiday weekend, we left the next morning even though we had paid in advance for two nights. Would never stay here again, the cable and Wi-Fi did work. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The site was very uneven and you had to go over a large possible speed bump to get into it. Too many full time permanent residents in the lake front views. Did not feel very safe in the area. This park had just experienced rain and it was very muddy. Even though the sites had been asphalted at some time, mud covered them. Spaces were tight with very little, to no room to park. With the slides out, there was no more than about 3' between rv's. The owner/manager was very friendly & helpful. The park tended to get loud at night with parties. The lake view was nice, but limited. There was no Wifi even though it was advertised that there was. We would not stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped for 5 nights during the Memorial Day holiday. The park is an older park but under new ownership. Several improvements since the last time we have camped here. Management was very attentive to making sure that everything ran smoothly. Not a bad price for all of the amenities. We will camping here again for the 4th of July. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a park really intended for long-term residents and is still in the process of becoming as it is less than 2 years old. Some of the spots are gravel; some are concrete. Most have some shade at least part of the day as it's located in a former wooded area. There are only 4 transient spots and anyone looking to stay a week or longer should look into one of the other lots. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Pass this one by. It is advertised as an adult, extended stay park for buses, motorhome and high-end 5th wheels. But the Owners have disregarded that to get any renters. Generating cash flow is more important to them. The rate I paid is a discounted, monthly rate. The park is under construction with limited amenities: no bathroom or shower; unfinished laundry; limited Wi-Fi access; crushed concrete roads and pads; and no private yards as advertised. The Owners have no RV experience and the parks layout shows it. My hookups were located near the front of our pad making for a long hookup. And the 3 page rental agreement your required to sign: not worth the paper it's written on. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I've been a fulltimer for nearly 20 years and very seldom do I find an RV park worthy of a review. This is an exception and here's why: Quiet, double and triple-sized lots, excellent WiFi, solid electric service and best of all ... the friendliest camp hosts you'll ever run in to. Although I used only the washers and dryers, I peeked in on the restroom and everything looks brand new. If you want to pay way too much for a pool and other resort-type goodies, pass this one up. If you want what I wrote in the second sentence above, you owe it to yourself to spend some time here. You won't be sorry. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great addition to Tyler. Rate is based on a month's stay while we were doing doctors visits and having eye surgery. Couldn't have been better. Starbucks is 5 miles away, it is quite at night, beautiful stars out. They are just beginning to get this into shape. Nice large sites, some with gravel pads, others grass. Ample parking for cars/trucks in front of rig. Most sites have a patio. Super friendly staff. Not fancy, but clean and safe with plenty of room for our cat to walk in the evening. We will be back again next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The wife and i stayed at this newly opened park in late Feb-12. We enjoyed our stay, these guys run a nice park. It was a great place for our dog. They have lots of room, remember always clean up after your pet. Safe travels to all. Also the managers were great people. They where helpful with anything we needed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is aesthetically appealing but functionally a disappointment. The restrooms look nice on the inside but the building is not heated or cooled (we froze when taking a shower). There is no electrical plug in the bathroom and the lights are on a timer. Every day we took a shower the lights would go out while showering. We had to wait for the lights to reset and then jump around to get the lights to come back on. The bathroom was sanitized once in two weeks. When it rained the RV site was muddy. The entrance is not maintained so the road is rough. The homemade speed bumps can really wreck havoc if you don't come to pretty much a stop and then slow roll over. The owner is nice but hardly ever around. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Site was very unlevel, and electric hookups didn't work at our site. We had to run a cord to next site. Dog waste all over and no one to clean pool or mow grass. It say's you can fish in their lake and play on their nine hole putting green, but we never saw either one. Very dark at night as the only lights were the ones on extension cords hung up in the trees. We paid for a week or we would have left the next day. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

My husband had heart surgery in Tyler and we stayed here at Spring Creek. It is very quiet and he had a wonderful recovery. Owner is very nice. Great area for walking and beautiful parking, mostly paved. Loved it here!!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The owners were nice but they were rarely there. There is a grassy field that has a play ground on it, and they rarely mowed that. They advertise that they have WI-FI, but it's more like dial-up internet. It is so slow, and that's if you get connected. We stayed for a couple of months, and the spot that they put us in was nice and shaded, but they had dead limbs hanging over, and on 2 occasions big limbs fell within feet of our vehicles and trailer. And there is plenty of room unless they park an overnighter in front of our trailer, so where we usually park is now the road for others to get through. So it can get pretty tight. The spots were pretty uneven as well since the entire property is on a downward slope. The only thing in, my opinion, that they have going for them is they are in a good location. We felt safe. But we probably won't stay here again if we can help it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

It has sites that are not level sites and arranged in a strange manner with parking parallel to the hook-ups. This park has an unusual setup, a gravel drive around the perimeter with the RV sites alongside and parallel to the drive. The sites on the outside of the drive appeared to be mostly long term tenants leaving the inside sites for travelers. This worked OK, as long as all the sites aren't occupied. When we left, we had to pull through the unoccupied sites in front of us, as the actual roadway was partially blocked by tenant's vehicles. The gravel drive was kind of rough; lots of large sharp rocks. The $20 is the PA rate for a 50-amp RV. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty decent park for an overnight stay. Very convenient to I-20 and a number of restaurants, including Cracker Barrel at the next exit. As previously stated, not all sites are level, but they only require a block or two. The one we had was perfect. Never met anyone while we were there. Spoke with the owner on phone a couple of hours before arrival, and he told us what to do. Said he wasn't going to be available, so pick a spot, put the money in the box, and he would see us the next morning. As we departed early the next morning we missed seeing him, but received a phone call from him later that day. He was wanting to make sure everything worked out for us and if there were any problems. This is a beautiful park with lots of shady tall trees. We stayed in the Big Pine Loop which has the longer pull-through spaces. There's a nice path around the lake. Very quiet at night and most of the time during the day as well. The large central area inside the loop gives you a spacious feeling if on an inside site. There are only a few sites suitable for 40' rigs. Most are a little shorter. Even though pull through, the sites can be difficult to get into. The sites are not all level and all need repaving. Utilities are good and there's a park host on hand in the loop if you need information or assistance. There are a few over the air TV stations, enough clear sky to aim a satellite dish, but bring your own internet. This is a very pleasant place to stay and if they'd improve the sites a little, I'd give it a 10. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for four glorious days and enjoyed every second of it. Staff was wonderful and the park is very well maintained. Spent dusk each day watching a raccoon come down from a tree and make its' rounds, staying clear of people. We camped on the lake in a pull through site on a winter weekend without reservations. This park, close to interstate 20, is a quiet retreat either before or after facing Dallas traffic. The park is convenient to gas stations, Walmart and a local Texas winery. Roads are easily negotiable. They have canoes and paddle boats to rent and a small gift shop. There is a beach. There are hiking trails and the rangers and volunteers can recommend lots of things to do at the park and in Tyler. I would suspect the campground is very busy during Spring and Fall. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed here one night while passing through the area. First, husband and I were pleasantly surprised that this state park offered some sewer hookups, which was a great plus. Pretty little lake; since we were just staying one night--a Thursday night--we were able to get a "premium site" by the lake. Very nice site with a lot of deep space to the water. Paved semi-circle pull-through, table, fire ring, etc. with beautiful view and access to the water because the lake was a little low. Cons: Sites in need of some mowing/trimming. Some sites in desperate need of repaving--mostly the sites in area 3, which we noticed while taking a walk. Also, several large trees had to be cut down (due to the drought?), which the park staff was in the process of doing. But still a lot of tress remaining. Did make for lots of firewood available to buy. The host that was monitoring the area was not friendly. Such a shame the state of Texas doesn't allocate more money to the upkeep of its beautiful parks. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We fully expected to like this SP from all the reviews we read. And indeed, it's a very beautiful spot to camp. Lake view (which was full when we made our reservations) is definitely the loop to camp at. The views are outstanding. We stayed in the Cedar Point loop, which had some pull throughs and a few back ins. The spots were small and the road was pretty narrow, I don't see them accommodating larger rigs. The bathrooms were well kept up and clean. Nature trail (trail head near the from office) was easy (5 y/o with us) and scenic. Our only complaint is one of site style. So this might not apply to other's (and is the only reason I rated a 7 instead of higher). The sites are very open in relation to each other and we prefer more wooded sites with natural barriers from neighboring sites. Also, at night when it's quiet the road noise (I-20 is only a few miles away) intruded just a little bit. If this SP is busy (it wasn't when we were here) I think I'd feel claustrophobic and cramped with the way the sites are laid out. Again, the lake view loop is very nice: and we will definitely give this SP another try when we can get a reservation for one of these spots. The staff was very friendly. We stayed at this park twice. It has been a great experience both times. We stayed in the Big Pine RV area. There are several great lake view and access sites in this area. Also, there is a hiking trail just off the campground that goes across the dam and around the small lake. There are great amenities. Those include canoe/kayak rental, a very new playground, swimming area with sandy beach entry, and a great snake program by the Park Ranger. It's a must see! Restrooms are very clean. Showers are nice but small (no room to get dressed due to the wet floor). We encountered many pesky raccoons on our first visit, but on the second visit a few months later, we only saw a couple of them. We will return to this park in the future. This was a convenient state park close to I20 and we stayed two nights during a rain storm. It has paved roads and campsites which was very nice given the heavy downpours. Lots of area to walk the dog, typical state park restrooms but they were clean, and nice hosts and rangers. There are large rocks around the campsites to keep vehicles off the grass areas. We didn't find these to be a problem but carry a flashlight if walking around at night, and be careful pulling around especially if you have a larger rig or not a lot of experience. We saw a "newbie" put his trailer over the water spigot as he didn't anticipate the turning radius when towing. He broke off the faucet which meant the rangers had to come turn off the water to our section of the campground and get the faucet fixed. They were very nice at keeping us informed and it wasn't an issue for us. Rate is with the Texas park pass so we did not have to pay the daily per person entrance fee. We would stay here again when coming through Texas. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

State Park just north of Tyler, roads and sites paved. Roads makes a loop around lake with some short steep grades and tight corners. This is our second time to stay at this park. The first was off season and we got a great site and we loved it. This time we were there on a busy weekend and it was a little different. First, the park has good and easy access to the interstate. That is good, but it does mean that you hear some traffic noise at night. Not a lot, but some. This time we only remembered at the last minute to get a reservation since it would be on a weekend. It is good that we did since we got almost the last spot. We got a spot in Cedar Point area, not the best of spots. It is unfortunate that because of the one-way posting and the way the sites are laid out that sites 12, 13, 14, 16 18, 19, and 20 have the hookups on the wrong side. Also, your door opens directly onto the road. Almost all of the other campers in this loop were tent campers, probably the best for this loop. All of the staff were great. We would definitely stay here again, but would either stay off season or make reservations early on so that we could get a nice site by the lake. We like dark campgrounds and think that taking a flashlight is a good idea. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Well, after going to this park many times and staying in the Big Pine loop we found that the park staff has basically ruined the loop. They have placed large, dark brown boulders around the campsites that make it extremely hard to get into the pull through campsites. We had a group of 8 RV's in this loop for the weekend and once it got dark the big boulders were virtually invisible. This caused 4 adults to walk right into them and cause severe abrasions and cuts. When this dangerous situation was brought to the park ranger's attention, his attitude was "carry a flashlight." Terrible. We'll never go back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in area 3, Big Pine, all sites are pull through, a little tight for our 37' and toad, but we made it work. Park has been hit very hard by the drought, many trees are stressed, some have died. Raccoon and squirrel are in abundance. Several trails, the lake was very pretty, paddle boats for rent, roads are a little narrow and the camping areas allow for 2 way traffic, but everyone seems to make it through ok. Saw very little staff and only saw the camp host out and about twice, neither were openly friendly (except lady at fee station). We would like to visit again. Would pick another site then our assigned one this time, all trees around it were dead so we had no shade at all except our awning. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped here 3 nights with our Good Sam Chapter. Although it was hot 100 plus degrees, we had a great time. We camped in the Big Pine area with pull throughs, water, sewer and 50 amp available. We had some shade. Satellite access in our site was easy. Each site had picnic table lamp post and fire ring. There was a burn ban, so we could not light a campfire. Restroom and showers are clean. We camped here in the hottest part of the summer. There was plenty of shade and a great swimming hole area of the lake. There were paddle boats, water bikes, pontoon boats, etc. available to rent by the hour. The entire park lost power for about 7 hours which made for some uncomfortable sleeping, but it certainly wasn't the park's fault. The bathhouse was incredibly hot, sticky and smelly, which is the only reason I didn't rate the park as a 10. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed overnight as we were passing through. The "pull through" sites in the Big Pine area were small and tight. The sites were a mudfest due to recent rain. We had to change sites three times in order be able to get in or out of trailer without wading through the mud and water. We had another enjoyable stay with our grand kids. We were in site #37. It was kind of close with trees if you have slideouts. Our slideouts are all on one side of the trailer. If they had been on both sides then we wouldn't have been able to get in #37. The site was shaded pretty well all day long. The grand kids had a nice place to swim and we launched our kayaks. The playground has been improved since our last visit. The WiFi worked most of the time and was about the same as our Verizon Broadband. The Park had landscaping brick delivered in 2008 to replace the decaying crossties that are in the sites. So far a few sites have been improved but the majority have not. The pile of bricks are dwindling due to campers using them as jack pads and an attempt to deter the raccoons from opening the ice chest. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were in a 3023 Trailmanor so we did not have maneuvering problems, but would expect large motorhomes, 5th wheels and travel trailers to have some problems maneuvering in and out of sites. Lovely, lovely campground! It's well-kept, quiet, scenic, what else could you want? We had a great, lakeside site (37) which took a bit of maneuvering to get into with our 37' rig, but we did it. Bathrooms were cleaned often and spotless. Campground personnel stopped by to visit and were very welcoming and friendly. We will make it a point to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great state park: very scenic, great lake, family oriented. Sunday church service lake side is available. Staff was very friendly. Some pull-in sites are larger than others. We were assigned a site, when we got here it would not accommodate us. We saw a site on the same loop that would. Made a phone call, and they said go ahead! Close to Tyler which has an interesting inner city road pattern. Visited the Air Memorial Museum and Fort Ford, an old civil war POW Camp. No recycling! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful, quiet, and clean park. Many pull-thrus, easy in and out. Small lake, beach, swimming area, and playgrounds are great assets. Great place for a family reunion. This stay we were returning to Dallas with golfing stops at Garden Valley, Pine Dunes (Frankston) and Fredricksburg, and have stayed overnight several times with the same level of satisfaction. A great time to stay is April during the Azalea Festival. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park for two days. Wanted to stay more! What a great park and only a couple of miles off the Interstate. The second night there we were visited by a couple of raccoons. Before we realized what was going on the little bandits made off with a package of graham crackers! We had one of the premium lake view sites. Our site was a back-in and VERY level. However, looking at some of the other sites it looked like leveling could be a challenge. Also the water and electric were at the front of the site. The sewer was mid site. I was talking with one of the rangers and she said that the park is booked full on most weekends even in the winter. There is a lot to do here, you can rent canoes, paddle boats or pontoon boats. They are trying to cover the park with wireless Internet. The first I’ve experienced with State Parks. It was pretty weak, worked sometimes and not others. My Verizon air card filled in the gaps. As a side note, I noticed that one of the tires on my trailer was bad. I called around and spoke to Clay at the Tire Barn in Tyler, TX. He told me to bring it in and he gave me a killer deal on a new tire. He had the old tire off the rim and the new one on and I was on my way in less than 5 minutes. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Being a native Texan, my wife and I have camped many of our Texas State Parks. In fact, we prefer a State of Texas State Park if we have an option. Camping in East Texas is beautiful with all of the tall pine trees. And Tyler State Park is one of the best in East Texas. It probably had the cleanest restrooms and showers of any Texas State Park we have stayed in during the last couple of years. Our site had a problem with fire ants due to the recent heavy rains, but one call to the Ranger's office took care of the problem. The camp host was at our site in less than five minutes with fire ant poison! It has a beautiful lake and a marvelous gift shop operated by a wonderfully helpful, courteous attendant. My wife bought a beautiful State park T-shirt with a great picture on it. All-in-all, we highly recommend this state park! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Note: $17 per night PLUS $3 per person day use fee. We snagged a spot on the busy holiday weekend just for an overnighter, so we didn't get one of the premium sites that others have mentioned. We were in Area 1--NOT recommended. Road and sites are crumbling, unlevel asphalt. Had to really work on getting somewhat level--we were more than 5 degrees off front/back AND side to side. Trails are unmarked (at least in our area) and in disrepair--there appears to have been a forest fire at some point. We are big state park fans, so this was a bit disappointing, but it's still in our opinion better than being sardines in a private campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped in Area 3 away from the water on site 42. The site was very hard to get my rig into and then had to back out. The sites are very unlevel and need to be resurfaced. The park was very crowded on Friday and Saturday. The fishing piers were taken over by hordes of unsupervised children running and screaming at each other. I don't think we will stay there again. Sites on the lake are premium and much nicer. We stayed at Area 1 Cedar Point site 11. Sites aren't level and ground is badly eroded. Our site was on the end of the row with a little more elbow room and shaded. I was very shocked to see how deteriorated the campsites were since we last visited 10yrs ago. Restrooms were very clean, showers nice but building was very warm (no turbine to draw out the heat). Swimming area is nice, sandy bottom. Kids loved diving and jumping off dive platform. You can rent canoes and paddle boats. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at this park for five nights in April. It is a large and beautiful park with lots of trees and a great lake for boating and fishing. The washrooms are spotless, the hiking/biking trails long and well-marked and the sites are excellent. Some sites are right on the lake! Wi-Fi is available depending on site location. The city of Tyler is 20 minutes away and offers a beautiful azalea trail along private homes at this time of year. The park is about 45 minutes from the famous Canton Trade Days. One of the world’s largest flea markets. One of the drawbacks of this park is that it can get very, very crowded on the weekend. There is a limit to the number of vehicles per site but this did not seem to be enforced. The crowded conditions were a factor in lack of respect for privacy at campsites. When we were here, it was not uncommon for people to walk or bike through or play fight with guns shooting plastic BBs in the campsites of others. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 2 nights in the Lakeside camping loop. Nice sites with good views of the lake. This loop is a little tight for maneuvering 40' motorhomes with a toad, but can be done. There is another camping loop with FHU which is easily accessible for large rigs. The State Park is only about 2 miles from IH20, so is a good place to spend the night if you are passing through. In addition to the nightly rate of $20 there is a $3 per person entrance fee unless you have a Texas State Park pass. The campsites can be a little muddy if it is raining. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We are new to RVing and were eager to go camping. Since we live in Tyler we decided to try out Tyler St. Park. We stayed in an area called Lakeside - obviously right on the lake. We camped in #32 - a large & level perfect spot right on the water. There are many activities - fishing, hiking, biking, paddle boating, playgrounds, bird watching and swimming in the summer. One negative - we couldn't get TV reception with our antenna - we don't have a dish. We did get wireless Internet. Reservations are accepted for a certain date and camping area - you can't reserve a particular spot. Winter time was less crowded and very quiet. Other times of the year the park can be very crowded - especially on weekends. Anyone RVing along I20 in East Texas should consider staying in Tyler St. Park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice, family park. Lots of shaded spaces that are fairly level. Many of the more popular areas are a little worn and tend to get muddy easy. We stayed in Lakeview section of the park directly in front of the lake- had to put Travel Trailer into pull through spot backwards to get the door to face the lake but it was easy to do. Note some spots have slide out obstructions (trees) but the park officials have notes on which ones. Lots of trails- but beware as they are very hilly and are not marked plus many people have added their own trails and believe it or not it is easy to get lost as many of the trails are rather remote. Park staff all very friendly and helpful. Took 2 small children and they had a blast. Will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed this park. The lake was a very small lake, but the kids enjoyed the paddle boats and swimming. Lots of trails and spaces. We truly do love Tyler State Park and we have written a previous review here in their favor...however, be warned...their new sewer hook ups are so far away from where you need to have your trailer parked that you will need 20-30 feet of sewer hose in order to connect. Many of the connections are on the wrong side. By this I mean that unless your outlet is at the front of your rig, you'll need lots of hose to make it work. . . Other than that, it really was nice not having to visit the dump station in the middle of our stay... We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We are so excited about the new "make over" at Tyler State Park! The two largest areas, Big Pine and Lakeview, now have sewer hookups! We have been camping at TSP for several years now and are looking forward to "hooking up to sewer" next week. The restroom/bath facilities have always been clean and the park staff friendy and helpful. Tyler seems to attract the greatest folks around, so if you are looking for a peaceful and beautiful spot in East Texas to camp, be sure to put Tyler at the top of your list. Can't beat this park. You have to reserve early as it fills up quickly and is booked far in advance, especially during the summer. Not far off I-20, but far enough away to avoid any noise or traffic. Very pretty setting (Pine Forest and hard woods) with a lake that is set up for fishing and swimming (roped off beach with bathhouse) Also has concession area to rent boats and canoes. Plenty of hiking and biking trails. Four different areas for trailers and motorhomes and several more for tents and some areas for shelters. One of the finest in the Texas system. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed a night off-season. Staff members were extremely friendly and helpful when we had some technical issues with our trailer. The on-site cafe had excellent food (some of the best gorditas we've had anywhere and an incredible dessert called chocoflan) and the people who ran it were also very kind and helpful. This park is in the process of converting to a Jellystone Park franchise and promises to be a family oriented destination when the conversion is complete. Despite the construction when we visited, we were delighted with the friendliness of everyone we encountered during our stay. I would definitely stay at Whispering Pines again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park nestled into the pines North of Tyler and East of Lindale. A bit out of the way but the surrounding area is lovely to drive through. This would have gotten an 8 except that the sites aren't level, at least where we were placed. Excellent staff, always friendly and helpful. Laundry room needs some serious updating, 2 pools, were nice but the furniture around them needs updating. This rate reflects Passport America Sun to Thur paying full on Fri & Sat. WE LOVE THIS RESORT!!! We had our whole family here: 2 adults and 4 children! Staff was very friendly. We felt like part of the family. This resort has everything. There is no need to go anywhere, as you have everything you need right here. There are activities during the weekend for adults and children. People who live here full time take time to get to know you. GREAT FEELING when traveling. The staff goes above and beyond for you. I got a snake bite while I was here and everyone at the parked helped out. We had several people bring over food for breakfast, lunch and dinner so I wouldn't have to cook. We were parked on the upper level where the long terms were parked and the traffic flow on the road was constant, day and night. It seems the same vehicles were back and forth all day. We stayed here for 5 months this year. Pros - This is a beautiful park, and the staff was very nice. There are lots of trees, and it feels more like a state park than a private business. There are a lot of amenities, and things for the kids to do. Cons - The same washing machine that was broken when we arrived, was still broken 5 months later. The laundry room is filthy most of the time. There are members of the staff that are probably trying to treat you like family, but come off as a bit nosy. The Wi-Fi is worthless - the small amount of time that it actually worked (15%), it was as slow, or slower, than dial-up. The last two months, it didn't work at all, and we had to go into town every day to do our online tasks. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed in this park for the first time with our camping club and really enjoyed it. The sites were level with large trees or there were more open sites without trees. We love the shade! The park is well kept, landscaping is beautiful, and all of the amenities were great. There's a bounce pillow for kids to enjoy, a pond for fishing only, and two pools...one is adult only. We would've needed at least 10 more feet of sewer hose to connect. The adult pool was closed for repairs, but the family pool was wonderful, if a bit chilly. It was our first stay, but it will definitely not be our last. We already have reservations for Halloween and New Years Eve. It is on a beautiful property - very wooded. You get the feel that you are in the woods. Our site had trees on three sides - from our Motorhome it was like being in a tree house. They do have sites that are more open, but we like the trees. For families they have planned activities every weekend. There also a ton to do - 2 pools. We liked the fact that they had a all-adult pool. We didn't have kids with us, so we really enjoyed the quiet. The people here are amazing. All nice, and super friendly. What struck us most is the number of campers we met - and they all seemed to be regulars and everyone had great things to say about the park. This will be one of our regular stopping points. The park is quiet, away from highway noise, with abundant pine trees. Some spaces are a little tight to back in, but with plenty of space between sites. Some roads will not allow two vehicles to pass comfortably, but pull over access is available. The rate we paid reflects a rate for groups of 10 or more rigs. We camped with our travel group and the group facilities were clean with cooking and refrigeration amenities for our group of 30+. Hookups were adequate, but our sewer drain was 25+ feet from our valve on the rig. Personnel at receptions were friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The office staff were nice. But the discounted rate of $27 was a bit high, in my opinion. My space was in the trees, had no cable, could not get satellite reception, and only one channel would come in with the antenna. From what I saw, the pull through sites were very close together. They also permit dogs to be left out unattended. This is a clean park, but for the services they offer the price should be in the $20 area. I've camped over the last 3 weeks in three different states, and the $27 seems to be the standard rate with more services to offer. I would have changed parks, but my vehicle was being serviced. I'm rating this a 6 only based on a very short overnight stay (arrived in the dark, left in the dark, given the time of year and the fact that we needed to cover miles on this trip). I'm sure the resort amenities are very nice; we didn't use 'em. The people were very nice at check-in, the sites were spaced nicely, lots of room to walk dog. But bathrooms/showers were old and in need of attention on the mold front. If in this area, we had been told to stay at the Tyler State Park just down the road, but we had a snafu and didn't arrive in time to get a spot. Very nice park in the woods. Feels much like a State Park. Two pools, one for kids and one for adults. Restrooms are older but clean and in good repair. Some minor leveling problems. A bit far out from Tyler but worth the drive. Very peaceful and resting stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here on a monthly rate so unsure on their nightly rate. Their monthly sites were booked so they placed us in their Rally area. We paid $375 and that included our electricity. We stayed for a month, but had planned on staying longer until we were disappointed with how they handled loud and disruptive guests. They allow tent campers to camp in the RV area of the park, instead of in the tent area. They were in the site next to us and heard voices all night since they have no rig to go inside. Their actual long-term monthly sites are nice and wide in the back of the park. But the Rally area sites are very narrow, and they pack them in like sardines. You have barely enough room to open your awning much less an enjoyable patio area. We could never get their Wi-Fi to work at our site, we had to use it at the pool area to get signal. The pros about the park are their pools are fun and clean and we loved all the activites they had each weekend. The fishing pond was neat too. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Older campground resort. I'd probably rate it lower but it had some nice amenities. Well staffed and very nice and helpful. Clean but dated. Our pull through site was very small. I'd stay here again, but would try the state park first We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice, family oriented park. Jumping pillow alone is reason to visit this part- everyone loves it, from the kids to adults. Overall park was clean, and while rather worn, it is taken good care of. WiFi worked great. Spots very level with easy access and good shade. Had gated entrance that stayed closed after dark. Lots of long term residents in back of park but all seem to be upscale and tucked out of site. I will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving week at this campground! Our whole family went and enjoyed it so much that we've already made plans for this year's Thanksgiving week. The park actually furnished Thanksgiving Dinner for EVERYONE in the park (turkey, ham, brisket, rolls, and iced tea). All we had to do was sign-up to bring a dish. The food was wonderful and it was well organized and everyone got to eat in the heated dining hall, which was even decorated for the event. The park is definitely family-friendly and has tons of activities for everyone. Hiking trails, pool, park, bouncing area (the kids called it "the blob" and had a wonderful time on it). Golf carts are for rent as well as little pedal go-carts for the kids. This park has something for everyone including cabins right on the lake. Our son and his family rented one for the weekend and it was clean, well decorated and had a beautiful view of the lake. Full size refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave with a small den and 2 bedrooms. Very nice for the price! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We went to this park with friend to camp for a long weekend. The park was clean with paved roads and level sites with full hookups. There is a swimming pool and numerous activities for the kids and adults alike.There is also a store on site with limited items. This park is near Tyler Texas which has numerous attractions including a large zoo. We will definitely stay at this park again and highly recommend it to others. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of the most beautiful and clean parks out there. Staff very nice, and it was fun to get to rent a golf cart for the 2 days we were there. We will be back and would love to full time here some day. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This Resort park is the nicest we have stayed in this side of Fort Wilderness Resort! The staff is friendly, and RVers themselves that are willing to help you. The resort is very clean and beautiful, they have a fishing lake, cabins and tons of activities. This resort have both an adult and childrens swimming pools both are wonderful. They also have a giant "jumping pillow" great fun for kids and "kids at heart" alike. Other activities include mini golf, tennis court, horseshoes, volleyball, ping pong, and golf cart rentals. This is a real RV Resort. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very kid friendly place! Lots of kids here. It looked like several family reunions were going on when we visited. It was our first camping experience in the new trailer. There are two pools (one just for adults), miniature golf course and lots of other activities. It was Elvis night, with a catered dinner and movie (for a small extra charge). There was a store. Lot's of full-timers live here, but our site was a bit bland and had no picnic table, but we ate out at a local restaurant and had a nice time. This place is located near Tyler State Park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice and clean. It was quiet. The pull thru sites were narrow and we had 4 slide outs and barely fit. It was a long way off the freeway to get to for just one night. No cable and the TV reception with an antenna was bad except for two stations. Nice place for a rally though. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I hadn't been to this park in over 5 years and it was hard to believe that this was the same park. The place has had a great face-lift and is a very pretty park. Very quiet and easy to get into. I used a satellite for TV and after finding a opening in the trees had good reception. There are a lot of things to see and do in the area. Also if you have children or grandchildren, there is quite a bit of activities in the campground. The office staff was very helpful and pleasant. It might be a bit pricey for some, but you do get what you pay for. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second visit to this pretty park. Access is still easy with gravel driveways throughout. Rustic style with lots of trees! TV reception is practically non-existent so bring something to watch. The location is about 8 miles from the north side of Tyler which features the zoo and about 20-25 minutes from the south side where most of the shopping and dining choices are. The Azalea Trail is in the middle of town so go online and get the road directions or stop downtown at the tourist bureau. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I give this park a "10" because of the terrific staff and the beautiful grounds. I made a mistake and reserved the wrong night. The staff was so accommodating and did everything to get us in a great site regardless of my error. The resort is beautiful and our site had trees and plenty of space. The grounds were well kept and clean. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Outstanding RV Park! We stayed over Christmas while visiting relatives. This is truly a "Resort" because they have so much to offer - planned activities and things to do. Super nice and very helpful in the office. You can tell this park is well cared for and maintained - its very clean also. It is very family oriented. Next time we will bring our grandkids - its perfect for them to swim and play. I would highly recommend this to anyone. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We are spending a month here and are delighted with the park. It is clean, cared for daily, has two pools, one for adults and a hot tub. Free Wifi is a new addition this year and it works well. The rural setting is quiet and peaceful. Roads are paved and sites are gravel, graded. Staff is helpful and friendly. Nicely equipped store too. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice quiet park, out in the hinter lands. Mid week very restful and not crowded this week. Weekends would seem to have a lot of scheduled activities. The reason for the 8 is there are only a few pull thru sites.We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park in the tall pines of east Texas. The feeling of a church camp in the woods. Plenty of fun for kids with swimming and fishing. Looks like the Tyler area fills it up on summer weekends. 40 ft. rig and a tow car fit just fine - superior to the state park up the road with regard to to big rigs. Nice folks at the front desk. You cannot have it all - 20 miles from the good restaurants in Tyler. Home and Garden TV home on Lake Tyler was a joke. Nice town but growing fast. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We spent Fathers' Day weekend at Whispering Pines. Great facility, clean, updated, roomy sites, woodsy, etc. Only problem we had was music/dance event held in the pavilion on Saturday night. Very loud and lasted until after midnight. If you're not into the "party scene" I'd suggest calling ahead when you reserve a site to inquire about whether music/dance is scheduled for the pavilion on the weekend you plan to stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park deep in the woods North of Tyler. Wide spaces with a picnic table and BBQ on each site. New ownership is upgrading many of the sites as fresh construction could be seen on many of the sites. Our picnic table had seen better days but a new one was quickly provided. Friendly management and nice store for the basics. One morning was gently awakened by the distant sounds of lion roars from a nearby big cat sanctuary which we absolutely loved! We will stay at campground in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I rated this park a 9 only because of very poor water pressure. Extremely clean and RV
friendly. There are 33 extended sites which are well separated from the overnight sites. Good TV reception even though in a rural setting. Gravel sites. We were here Thanksgiving week and enjoyed the quiet. We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I was surprised to see a negative review on this campground. We have been staying at Whispering Pines for over 2 years. The park is a nature lovers dream. There are many things to do and the people are very friendly. Its a few minutes off Interstate 20 - well worth the trip. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
