We stayed at Arch View for 3 nights. Chose the location as it was out of town with direct access to OHV trails. The staff was pleasant and the park was nice, but the sites are very close together which I guess is not bad when the wind is blowing. The sites are of decent size, but we had to unhook our 21' truck from our 34' trailer to fit in the site. A big reason we decided to stay at Arch View was to get internet access, but they system was down most of the time we were at the sites. Fortunately, we were able to get 3G access on our phone hot spot for some work critical connections. The WIFI looks to be supplied by Hughes Satellite, and the best I could tell the problem was Hughes problem not an Arch View. Arch View is located about 10 miles north of Moab but only a couple miles from entrances to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Staff very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a happening place which seems to be a central location for ATV/OHV and bicycle enthusiasts. That did not cause any problems though, ie noise. Our site was dirt but no problem leveling our rig. Sites are also fairly close but no more than any other campground in the area. It is located 10 miles north of town but close to entrances to both national parks. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend if visiting national parks. We stayed here 3 nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 5 nights. It is very close to OHV trails, and has several that connect to the property. As a result, there are many off road vehicles here. The park does a good job of enforcing noise and speed rules so the OHV are not annoying. They have some shrubbery between the sites, but this is a desert like area so it's a work in progress. Friendly, helpful staff with good attitudes. You can see some Arches National Park from you camper. It is a roomy well run campground. I would stay here again. Make a reservation as early as possible-it's a busy campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I would not advise you to attempt to get a big rig into this park; it was probably built when rigs were smaller. I would estimate that 36ft can be accommodated well, but our 40ft rig was not, and there was no good parking for our toad. It's packed dirt for roads and sites; maneuvering room is not enough. It's a little like day care with associated melee during the waking hours. Its central location isn't enough to make up for the defects. We won't stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A great, convenient campground right in the middle of town within walking distance of stores, restaurants, etc., yet surprisingly quiet. Even when full (which is most of the time) it is a great place to stay with clean bathrooms and laundry. Most sites are shaded. Definitely will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very tight sites and short. We're a 30' travel trailer and it just barely worked; it was a challenge to my parking skills. Narrow and tough for slides but it worked. This is a very well maintained campground very popular with the Jeep crowd. Utilities all fine except for Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi system totally inadequate for the number of users. In 3 days only got 5 minutes of very slow access . Sites are very close. It is an intimate relationship with your neighbors, but in general the people attracted to Moab are outgoing and interesting so that was no problem. Much coming and going all the time, but quiet at night. Showers, restrooms, laundry and dish washing facilities were exceptional. Park is 1 block from large excellent grocery store, and 2 blocks from Moab Brewery and Restaurant. Full range of micro brews with no driving if you have a large rig, you need to be comfortable manuevering in tight quarters. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Reservations are a must here as there are only 21 sites and not all of them are RV friendly. This is a beautiful campground with flush toilets and no showers. You need to bring in your own water. There are many trails to hike from the campground. Each site has a covered picnic table on a cement slab which is very nice. The sites are paved for the vehicle/trailer and the electric hook-ups are good. Cell phone service is non-existent except for limited calling from the visitor's center which is .3 miles from the campground. It is beautiful and quiet, but very dusty & sandy when the wind blows. The views from the visitor center and from a further drive into the park are amazing! We would camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Wednesday/Thursday – May 8,9 – Kayenta Campground, Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah This campground is off the road that heads to Canyonlands National Park, Island of the Sky district. It is in a beautiful area of Utah and there is a Visitor Center, hikes such as the East Rim and West Rim and then the Dead Horse Point Lookout that overlooks the Colorado River which is stunning. The history behind the point where cowboys used to drive Wild Mustangs to a hidden coral and then leave the ones they didn’t want to die without water within the fence is troubling. The campground has 21 sites all with electricity but no water, no showers and no fill ups for RV’s. There are no water spigots anywhere in the park. Our site 1 had a nice view and we were able to get level but most sites are not level. Reservations are a must for this time of year. The bathhouse was clean and did have flush toilets. Interesting and beautiful place to camp. The costs was $20 a night !and one can walk to the Visitor Center We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for quiet, scenery, hiking/biking trails this is the place for you. Do bring plenty of your own water as all water for the park has to be trucked in from Moab, 30 miles away. Fabulous views of the Canyonlands from the point overlook. Close to the entrance of Canyonlands National Park, and about 25 miles from the entrance to Arches National Park. Staff and campground hosts very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stopped here one night, late on a Friday. Although all the regular sites were taken, another camper let us know that the camp host told them, if the group sites are not taken, they could occupy any group sites available. Check calender on website to verify the group site has not been reserved. Although the website says it will accomodate small campers, I saw one large u-shaped pull through, and the group sites can accomodate very large rigs. Very nice, clean campground next to the river with picnic tables and fire rings. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a BLM campground along the Colorado river on highway 128 and about 1.5 miles off highway 191. There are several more along this same highway but this is one of two that will accommodate larger rigs. It's all gravel, pit toilets, no water or electric, and the camp host is on the grounds if you need help. The view is unbelievable! It's about 2 miles from Moab and 4 miles from Arches park. If you can dry camp you'll love this. Only Uncle Sam can offer real estate this nice and its only $12 a night. More info can be found searching Google for Moab camping. Its first come, first serve so get there early. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A great campground. Plenty of room and level sites. We were here during one of Moab's busiest weekends of the spring and the campground was completely full. But it was still quiet overnight and we never felt crowded as there's lot's of room between spaces. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a great campground in my opinion, one of the best that BLM offers in this area. Spacious sites for different lengths, lots of restrooms, and great views. It is a dry camping area with no water, dumping, or electric. With a rate of $6 for seniors with Golden Age Pass, it's hard to beat the price. It's a short distance to Dead Horse Point State Park where the rates are 3-5x higher. This makes a good day trip by bicycle or car from here (seven miles away). Bravo to the BLM for providing such campgrounds in an area where commercial campgrounds in Moab are expensive ($35 on average). We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great location, beautiful setting, quiet spot. No hookups and no water to be found. This is definitely the definition of a primitive site. Our water tank is small, so even without showering, we were out on our third day. Bear that in mind if traveling with a smaller trailer, especially as the closest town Moab, is about an half an hour's drive. There are vault toilets, though, and a dumpster for trash. Location wise, Horse thief has great access to Canyonlands and Dead Horse. We didn't see a ranger the entire time we were here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful BLM campground. There is are no hook-ups (electric, water, sewer) and there is no water or dump station. There are clean pit toilets. Nevertheless this is a pleasant place with level, gravel campsites for boon docking. The view of the valley and the red rock cliffs is outstanding. There are several hiking trails of a mile or so leading from the campground. This is a very nice BLM campground in a beautiful rural setting. There is a nearby lake that offers fishing. The $6 rate reflects the rate charged for holders of the Golden Age pass. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The bad: We don't like staying at KOA's because we feel they are overpriced but due to a car show the other RV parks were full. They need to trim the branches on the trees, I saw one RV get hung up on a branch. Sites are dirt; roads are dirt, very narrow, and difficult to navigate. The good: Since it does sit back off of the highway we did not hear any road noise at night. It is a good location for visiting the National Parks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 4 nights. We have never really liked KOA’s but there wasn’t much else available. A lot of the other parks in the area didn’t have clear view of the southern sky for satellite reception – mainly due to trees. Guess they are trying to beat the summer heat. But it doesn’t work well when the temperatures cool off. The park is right along the main highway several miles south of town. The park is built on a slope so a lot of the sites are not flat or level. They charged different rates depending on the day of the week. They provided an escort to the site. The interior roads are narrow, windy and gravel. There were just a few pull through sites that offer a view of the southern sky to get good satellite reception. They have full hook ups – water, electricity (50 AMP), & sewer. The sites had an outside table. The sites are sand – no gravel or concrete. Pretty much Zero privacy between the sites. Our site (#63) had a power pole with a junction box attached on the passenger side and overhead wires running over it. The pole was located so that we almost ran into it when we stepped out of our coach. The outside table was right next to the power pole. The park’s WiFi was good. There wasn’t a fenced pet area. There was a designated pet area but it was a field next to the park. Other pet owners didn’t clean up after their pets in this area. There were sufficient gravel roads to walk the dogs but a lot of the other guests didn’t follow the leash requirement. There were no bag dispensers around the park to pick up waste. We didn’t use the restrooms/showers, laundry room or game room. The pool was closed for the season. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I really have mixed emotions on this one. On the positive side: Good location, friendly staff, nice size space with picnic table and shade trees. The NEGATIVE: 1. We picked this park because it had cable TV - the lower channels (the network channels) did not work! They sold me an unneeded new coax cable that did not help - from other reviewers this is a known problem and should be fixed. 2. The wi-fi was poor and unavailable most of the stay. 3. The water system was also unreliable. They need to hire a good maintenance man and spend some money fixing these problems as they spoiled the whole stay. If these problems were resolved we would highly recommend this park. We stayed 3 nights to explore the national parks in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is right off the highway just south of Moab, and a good base camp for visiting the area. The hookups are good, cable TV is available, but the WIFI is very iffy. The restroom was cleaned regularly throughout the day. Efforts toward landscaping appear on-going and it was nice to have grass and a taller tree at our site. Sites have a picnic table on a concrete pad. The road and RV space are gravel/sand. No laundry room is available. The campground is at the base of Moab Rim and the La Sal mountains can be seen in the distance across the road. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our second time here and just as pleasant as the first. RV sites are wide and long. Great for big rigs. Awesome location to be at for vista views of Moab Rim and site seeing. The owners are very accommodating and friendly, making adjustments for requests of longer stays and knowledge of the area. Tent sites have grass and are roomy. Bathrooms are very clean. Plan on returning next year on our way to Yellowstone. You will not be disappointed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

People were pleasant at check in and suggested place for hikes. Our spot on the row closest to the highway was so noisy we found it unpleasant to sit out side. The distant view of the cliffs and mountains is ruined by all the commercial junk located across the highway and around the campground. The sites and interior road are a very dusty gravel. The camper next to us had 2 large dogs he let loose and did not pick up after them, we didn't see management people speak to them about this. We will not come back to this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting the National and State parks in Moab. The RV park was clean and staff was friendly. We would stay here again. Only thing we didn't like was our space was pretty tight to get into. We were pulling a 31 foot trailer and took us a while to pull into the pull-through site because we couldn't get the truck over far enough to get the trailer in straight. But once in, all was good. Also, you share the grassy area between sites with the space next to you, and there's not much room between. But, all in all it was a nice stay and we would stay again when in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in Cabin 5 It was fairly close to restrooms washrooms. I showered in the washroom every morning and it looked clean. Water settings in the shower where sometimes tricky to set. The washroom in the cabin had a toilet, shower. The sink being like a kitchen sink settings. We had a single bed and a double bed. Matteress wasn't very new on the double bad. Wife and I rolled to the center of the bed. They have a small oil filled electric heater for the cabin. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.

We have stayed here several times, the most recent was May, 2013. This time we had a spot along the back fence, not a pull through site. It was wonderful. Large, plenty of grass and parking. The utilities worked perfectly. The WiFi was slow but then the park was full that week. It is located adjacent to a livestock facility but this week that was not an issue. Sometimes it is aromatic. We'd definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The water & sewer hookups were good and the small restroom was dated, but clean. Some grass was planted at our site, which was shaded, and we had a picnic table, making a nice environment. Small laundry area was clean. This park is next door to a rodeo arena/stables area, so when the wind blows (& it does often) you get a lot of red sand into everything. We were told Good Sam & Passport America were not honored in May. First time we ever had Good Sam turned down. Wifi did not work for us at all. We appreciated that we were allowed to fill with water, as we were going next to a campground without water. Landscape work is being done to improve the park. We would try another park next time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

As the other reviews mentioned, there are two zones at Portal. The gravel area and the new, concrete area. We had made reservations for site 17 a year ago which is in the gravel area but when we arrived they told us that if we stayed in the gravel area we'd have to move after a few days but we could stay in the concrete area and not have to move. It's quite a bit more expensive. This was within their rights of course but the "mix-up" was their fault, they admitted it. So we paid more and took the concrete site. Portal has a nice reputation in the Motorhome world but their reservation system seems to need improvement. Others we spoke with had problems as well. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We choose this park on driving by as it was situated back from the road. The drive down was not very nice, however once in there the park was good and we enjoyed our stay here. You need to note the park is divided in two, resort and camping - the camping side is not allowed to use the resort facilities such as pool, spa etc. There is a watering hole you can swim in, but I would not class this as a swimming pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

While this place is beautiful and well-maintained, we could not give it a stellar rating because of the parking issue. As the name implies, this is both a campground as well as a resort where individual sites may be purchased. When you make a reservation, you have no control over where you will be parked. When I called and made a reservation, I specifically noted I was in a 45' motorhome pulling a 24' trailer and NEEDED a pull-through. I was told that was no problem. When I arrived I was assigned one of the very few sites on the outer row in the resort section THAT WASN'T A PULL-THROUGH. The young lady who checked us in pointed out that it was, in fact, 100' long so I shouldn't have any problems. Problem is, It has some extra landscaping that made it difficult to get in, and almost impossible to back out. What she failed to mention, when I expressed real concern over our ability to navigate in and out, is that there is a large area where I could have parked the trailer and disconnected, making this a much more enjoyable stay. On the plus side, it is well-maintained and policed. Two enclosed dog runs make it great if you travel with pets. It is VERY PRICEY for what you get. Wi-Fi was marginal, cell phone coverage good. Moab is a great place to visit and the Arches National Park is a true marvel. We wouldn't stay here again because they didn't honor their commitment for a pull-through and we fretted for two days about the difficulty we might encounter getting out. We camped here in a Motorhome.
