Cozy Acres campground is in Powhatan Virginia, just off of Route 60 on the south western side of Richmond. With the new I-895 bypass to the east of Richmond, it is extremely convenient to I-95 via I-295 east and directly off of I-64 east of the Capital City. The RV sites are level left to right and provide enough length to assure easy leveling front to back - even though the site entrance and exit may be inclined. All of the sites are long enough to allow on-site parking for both a 40 foot trailer and the disconnected tow vehicle. Most of the sites have flagstone patios, full hookups, shade trees and a beautiful view of the rolling farm land and ponds. Some of the sites include special amenities, such as one with a covered deck and swing. But, the additional cost of these features can add as much as $20 to your nightly camping bill. Cozy Acres is smack dab in the middle of a working farm, so you can expect farm animals to grace your view of the scenic pastures. There are three ponds around the campground, two of which are fairly large. The smaller pond is a catch and release fishing spot with an island complete with an access bridge and gazebo. We noted numerous children delighting in catching Sunfish and Bluegill around the banks of the pond. The two larger ponds require a permit for fishing, which can be bought at the camp store. One of the ponds features an old steel bridge across the creek at the mouth. I was told these ponds are regularly stocked with bass and catfish. The weekend we camped there was their annual Oktoberfest celebration. The campground provided a huge pot of delicious home cooked chili and beverages. The campers each brought a side dish. There was enough food to feed an army. There was a bluegrass gospel group, Glory Road, which entertained us during our dinner. It was a really fun event The “club house” is a huge pole barn complete with kitchen and gobs of antique farm equipment on display. All over the campground the owners have displayed an array of antique equipment typical of the farm community during the past century. Cider mills, presses, copper tub gas powered washing machines, old saws, bottles and even a nearly perfectly preserved Ford Pinto. The camp store is well stocked with RV accessories and often needed food products. They even have a late 50’s era fire truck that they give both oldsters and youngsters alike a ride around the campground. Sometimes we don’t go camping to do something – we go so we can do nothing. It was an extremely enjoyable and relaxing weekend. We will go there again. We were sitting out under our awning around a campfire with some newly found friends as darkness arrived. The sunset over the little pond in front of us was awe inspiring. If you are coming through Richmond, Virginia, and want a camping spot for a night or two you might want to check this one out. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This has got to be one of our favorite campgrounds by far. We only stayed two nights while visiting the Richmond area and wished we could have stayed a little longer! After camping in the hustle and bustle of the DC area this was a welcome break! The grounds are very well maintained by the owners and it's obvious they take pride in the facilities. It is very quiet as they are not close to a highway. We were there during the week so it was not crowded at all. The sites are very spacious with brick patios and fire rings. My kids loved the fishing ponds which were beautiful. The owners son brought us along to feed the catfish and the kids still talk about it. We also learned how to talk to the cows in the pasture! I had a nice conversation with the owners on our second night and really enjoyed their company. The camp store is very nice with loads of antiques and collections. The only thing that would make this a ten for me would be Wi-Fi and cable right at my rig. Other than that this has been our favorite stop from Arizona to Maryland and we will find a reason to return. Highly recommended for relaxation or visiting Richmond/Appomattox area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have been going to this campground a long time with friends of ours.We really enjoy camping here until this past weekend. I was very disturbed by the behavior of 1 member of management. He was very loud and rude to several of the campers and did not act in a professional manner.I have discussed this with our friends and they feel the same way.We have decided not to go back due to his actions for the time being. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
