This is a nice clean park with level sites. Access to I-64 is easy and access to Williamsburg and surrounding areas is very easy. The staff is helpful and friendly. There are grocery stores and restaurants very nearby. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground with plenty of room to maneuver rigs around. Camp sites were a bit narrow. Great place to stay and visit the area. Restrooms were excellent. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice park that is close to a lot of historic sites. The site we were given was level and in a good location. The pool is closed for the season. The staff was great and very helpful. There is train noise but it is not prohibitive. The only complaint that I have is the very slow Wi-Fi. I am sure it was because they were busy this weekend. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Price is at weekly rate for an easy to find park. The access road (.2 mi) is narrow, interior roads are gravel and dirt. They graded after rains. Most sites had level cement pads with a gravel parking area for tow vehicles. Check in was friendly and helpful, and they placed us where we could get Wi-Fi, though it wasn't reliable. The sites are tight but plenty long enough for our 37' RV. Our neighbor had a 40' motorhome. Just enter and exit carefully. Most sites are treed, so satellite would be difficult to get. Cable was OK but had no NBC. It was mostly movie channels. The pool was very clean, as were the restrooms. Horseshoes, volleyball, and a playground are available. Verizon and electric worked fine. There are picnic tables at the site, propane available, and trash is picked up at 11:00. Be careful if doing laundry as there is rust in the water. It's 7 miles to Williamsburg, and there is shopping everywhere. Food Lion is a mile away. There is a train, but it seldom runs after midnight, and we didn't notice it in a couple days. We bought discount tickets at the park to events. It is expensive to stay here, but it's going rate for the area. We will be happy to return if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice park, especially if you travel with children. The pool is lovely and they have the most outlandish water slide we have ever seen. The staff was friendly and the cable and Wi-Fi worked very nicely. We enjoyed the nature trail very much. There is a lot of open, green space around the park. That said, the roads are sandy and to add to the dust they are excavating additional spaces. The sites are a little close, and there is some train noise. They are close to a lot of attractions and shopping. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I had great expectations about the American Heritage RV Park after reading all of the glowing reviews. I have found this review site to be fairly accurate (some of the time) but this is not one of those times. This park is not a 9 or 10 (which many rated it) compared to many other parks we have stayed at. Upon registering we asked if we could see our site first and choose another if we did not like the site, but they said we could not, that they were full and we had to take the site they put us in. We were put in site 55 which was tiny and like being in the middle of a city block surrounded by children, barking dogs and absolutely no grass for our dog to even sniff. (You had your cement pad with table and that is it!) I understand that it was a summer weekend but they did have other sites that were much nicer, larger and in a quieter area of the park, that were available when I walked around. (So be sure to ask and see your site!) We felt like sardines in a big parking lot! Oh and did I mention the train? It passes nearby every few hours with its whistle blowing. The Wi-Fi was extremely slow (just plan to use your cell phone hot spot) but the Cable was very good. The only positive we found was the nice nature trail in the woods to walk the dog. (After walking down a long row of motor homes to get to it, with hardly any space between them and a road in front and a road behind.) You are told to be sure your dog doesn't go onto anyone's site which is almost impossible since the sites are so small and right next to the roads. All and all I have to say this Park was extremely overpriced and over rated. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park was very convenient to Williamsburg, Richmond, and Virginia Beach. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The bathrooms were clean, air conditioned, and well supplied. Although many say this park is not a destination park, we found it ideal as a base camp to explore the tidewater area of Virginia. Sites were concrete, level, and most had trees for shade. Good connections for water cable and sewer. Wi-Fi was available and we had no problems connecting. Easy access to all the tidewater areas and close to restaurants, food stores, and shopping. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Just returned from a week visiting the area. Enjoyed our stay so much we extended it 2 nights. Very clean, comfortable bathhouse. Our site was very shaded with concrete slab for RV and concrete patio w/picnic table. Very easy hookups w/free wifi that worked well and good selection of channels on free cable tv. Sites were all level and many were pull thru. Location was about 6 miles n/e of Williamsburg but the quiet location was welcome. Very close to grocery and other stores. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Have stayed in other CGs in area and find this one to definitely be the most accommodating, roomiest and most pleasant. Will definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We upgraded to Premium site and it was great. It had a very nice, paver patio with a table and chairs (including umbrella), a paver wall and also a gas grill (provide your own gas). Our site was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful in recommending someone to do a little repair work on our motorhome and also recommending someone to wash and wax our motorhome during our stay. The remainder of the campground was just OK. It was extremely hot during our stay and the pool area was completely unshaded. No trees or other shade. The pool was a pretty basic pool. It did it's job for the kids as far as helping to cool them down: but was very average as far as pools go. There really is no playground to speak of. It also, was in the middle of a field with no shade or shelter from the sweltering heat. This was an OK place to stay, convenient for driving to Williamsburg and visiting the area. While I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to staying here in the future, we would probably look for something a little closer to the activities and with better amenities. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The staff were nice. It had a very nice pool. The showers and toilets were very clean. We very much liked the nature trails. There is something they called mini-golf, it was a silly little thing just to say they have one. Similary, the dog run was just to say they have one. It is far from everything and no one uses it. They only pick up the garbage daily and it seems that animals frequently get into bags left outside. In general, it was quiet and comfortable and not terribly far from attractions (about 6 to 10 miles). We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park is lovely, with wonderful amenties. It's great having concrete pads and patios. Plenty of shade, people were helpful and friendly. Patios with grills and seating for 4-6 or more would be great for families. Bathrooms are spacious and very clean. The one thing I would add would be grab bars and a shelf in the showers. This is a terrific park. It would be our every weekend "go to" park if only it were closer to home! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Close to Williamsburg,York & James Towns. Narrow dirt , uneven interior roads. Tall trees, so NO satellite on most sites. Sites very narrow. They have Concrete parking pads. Grass unkempt on our premium site. BBQ dirty. Patio set needs a wash. For $62 a night & thats with a 10% discount, I would have expected more. The electricity & water are fine. Office staff friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an OK RV park but we did not find the setting or sites to be particularly well situated. They was was little space between you and your neighbor. Cable TV was fine, but the Wi-Fi at our site was inconsistent/weak. It is convenient to historic Williamsburg. We well return if we have a need to visit Williamsburg again. Have stayed at this park before and would really be nicer if they would pave the rows. They are currently gravel and really dusty. Also, it would be nice if they upgraded their cable service because a lot of the channels are either out or so noisy with static that you can't hear them. Otherwise the park is nice, paved pads, with concrete patios positioned primarily for 5th wheels, not for motorhomes with the door at the front. Office staff is very nice and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this campground twice in 2011 (once in the summer and in December) and for a number of days each visit. Both stays were excellent. The people at the desk are very nice. The campground is large and each site is paved with shade trees all around. It is a very quick trip to Colonial Williamsburg via Interstate 64. All hook ups worked well. Restrooms and showers are in the center of the campground - and there should be more of them, but with our own facilities this was not an issue. Wi-Fi is strong all over the campground. Cable includes a number of movie channels. There is a nice swimming pool and various sports fields. We looked at several of the campgrounds in Williamsburg, and to us, this looks the best - and we enjoyed our stays. We will definitely be going back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Excellent park. It is a very clean, friendly campground. The location is perfect for visiting Busch Gardens and Williamsburg. It is one of the few parks in the area that is located away from the train tracks. You can still hear the trains in the distance but not like the other parks. The bathhouses are the best I have ever seen and spotless. Trash is picked up daily from your site and they are always doing improvements to the campground. Some of the sites are close together but we always try to request some sites that we have stayed at before and like. We stay here at least 5 times a year and think it is the best. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our 2nd visit to American Heritage. We arrived on Thanksgiving and stayed for 1 week. Sites are well spaced, most have a concrete pad to park on and comes with a picnic table. There are some "upgraded" sites that have patio tables and chairs, bbq grills and fire pits vs the standard wood picnic bench table and washer fire ring. American Heritage has a nice dog run, but it's situated so far off in a field that we'd run the dogs in the middle of field instead of hiking all the way over. There's a great nature trail that winds through the woods around the campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I rate this campground as a strong 8. It is convenient to Williamsburg and surrounding attractions. The campground is nicely wooded, has level concrete pads, and nice, clean bathhouses. There are plenty of things to do in the park such as a long nature trail, horseshoes, basketball, mini-golf and what looks like a nice pool for the summer. They also have a very large fenced dog run for the pups. I have towed a 39' fiver into this campground a half dozen times and never had any issues with trees, obstacles or narrow roads. Take your time and you will be fine. Three minor things keep this park from a 9 or 10. First, the cable TV has always been very fuzzy here, as others have pointed out. Also, the Wi-Fi is very weak, and we were not very far from the office. I gave up using my computer after the first day. Last, if you are in the sites closest to the cabins, be prepared for healthy whiffs of sewage every now and then. There is a tall vent pipe of off the septic area that is quite pungent if the winds are right. Overall, you won't go wrong at this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in late October in a Class C. No kids or pets. Good: Staff was friendly, bathrooms had been recently remodeled and nicer than most I have seen. Concrete pads but didn't seem level. Good cable reception. Good water pressure and easy to use connections for water, sewer, electric. Nice looking park with good scenery. Bad: You need to know this is about a half mile from railroad tracks. We heard 2 or 3 during the day but didn't hear any at night. Don't let this stop you from staying here. Wish the park was a bit closer to Colonial Williamsburg (perhaps 15 minutes). Other than that is was a nice park. Will be back. To be honest nothing much to brag about and really nothing to complain about. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were told about this campground by at friend at my work. It's an older campground, nicely laid out. What impressed us was, the sites have concrete pads that are level. The hook ups are easy to get to. The bathhouse is large, clean, with plenty of hot water. The weekend weather was perfect for sitting outside under the awning. Except, for the regular freight train noises, we will be back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were at this park for 3 days, and the wi-fi never worked. There were low hanging branches on trees which we had to go through to get to our site. There are concrete pads, but the roads getting to them were filled with ruts and are fairly narrow. The road getting to the park is also quite narrow and the park sign is practically hidden behind a hedge. Getting around that hedge on the way out was a challenge, as well. Bottom line is that while I'd probably stay there again because it was convenient to Williamsburg and can handle a 45 ft RV. I just don't see the higher ratings this park is receiving. Overall a very nice park. Clean and well kept sites with concrete pads and nice picnic tables. Lots of trees for shade but no DTV because of them. The pool was very nice and rather large for the park's size. Laundry was adequate and clean. The store did have a lot of stuff but not many necessities. I like book exchanges at campgrounds at they really don't have one. Close to Wburg attractions but very quiet as well. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I had a difficult time choosing a rating for this park. They had experienced a great deal of rain prior to our visit. Roads were washed out in places and rutted which made tight turns more difficult. Concrete pads are fairly close together but leveling was easy. Restrooms were nicely done but floors were tracked and sandy. The last day we were here they finally put a mat at the restroom door to help with the problem. Some cable channels reminded me of watching TV in the 60's--lots of snow. Trees prevented satellite connection. Wi-Fi signal was good. We were here over a weekend and there was a lot of traffic; the speed limit is not enforced. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground and very convenient to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens (less than 15 minutes away via Rt. 64). All sites are cement pads and our site was perfectly level. There is grass between the sites. The rate we paid reflects the weekly rate - stay six nights get the seventh free. Water pressure was good. Electric hookup was good. Many cable channels including a number of movie channels. Cable reception was clear. Wi-Fi was strong at the site. There is a large swimming pool that looked nice and also sports/games facilities - lots for the kids and family to do at the park when not touring the area. There is only one bathhouse located in the middle of the park. Very tall pine trees are interspersed through the sides of the sites. The RV park is large and private from the residential road that it is located off of. It was not difficult to find and my GPS went directly to the entrance. We heard no road noise from Rt. 64 inside the park. Staff were very friendly. We will definitely stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Cannot give this park a "10" like so many others. Check in was a little less than pleasant and the highly touted hippo slide was to be $59.00 for a week's pass for a family of five and it closes daily from 2 to 4 pm. The poorly maintained game room has 11 machines of which 5 were broken and the mini golf was another poorly executed amenity. The camp store is stock full of souveniers, but practically nothing to eat. Our site was #34 which was directly in front of the bathhouse, whole families cut through our site at all hours of the day, even while we sat and ate or entertained. On the positive, the pool is clean and it's very close to all the Williamsburg attractions and it's cheaper than the KOA at the next exit. Next time we will be at the KOA. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here a couple nights as we visited Colonial Williamsburg. It's a very nice camp ground for a family. Sites feature nice sized, level concrete pads, full hook-ups and a nice picnic table. The facility has a great pool, miniature golf, and the inflatable water slide which the kids loved. Absolutely everything a family could want when in the Williamsburg area. This was one of the nicest campgrounds at which we have stayed. Clean shaded sites with concrete pads and a very clean and attractive bathhouse with real doors on the private stalls for both the shower and toilet. Site spacing is a bit compact but typical for an RV-park and this makes the park more suitable for a hard wall RV than a canvas popup. Conveniently located we definitely would stay here again. Petersburg is also accessible from here. Staff were friendly and helpful in providing information about what to see in the area. The park was clean and well-maintained. We camped here in a Motorhome.

American Heritage is a very clean and quiet park. The kids really enjoyed the hippo slide. The Wi-Fi had a great signal and speed. Excellent campground. Friendly and informative office staff greeted us upon arrival. Concrete pads mean NO leveling. Staff was very accommodating as we were traveling with friends and they were able to get us side by side. Owner was onsite during several visits to the office/store. We arrived on the HOTTEST day of the year and had to do no leveling and very little set up. Voltage was low but with excessive heat and fact that everyone was using AC low voltage was to be expected. Water pressure and free Wi-Fi were good. Hippo slide was a nice addition since the last time we stayed at this CG in 2007. Children really enjoyed the Hippo Slide and pool. Store also seems to be expanded since last visit. Very convenient to local attractions including Busch Gardens, Water Country, and Colonial Williamsburg. Very quite park even though, because of outside temperature, we did not get to enjoy outdoors as much as we would have liked. We would definitely return to this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park was fantastic. It is very close to all the attractions, but still in a rustic setting. They have a very large amount of land, so there was lots of green space. The Hippo slide was an added bonus for my kids. We were in Site #1, which was a premium site, and were very near the slide and pool. I would return to this campground the next time I am in Williamsburg. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground. Easy on and off Rt 64. Close to Williamsburg and attractions. We had a good, level pull-through and liked the angled, staggered arrangement. Relatively busy but quiet. Friendly staff. More than adequate laundry area -- clean and neat. Waterslide and pool looked inviting although we did not take advantage of them. Would return without question. Camped here 8 nights. Excellent park! Cement pads, easy to level; not too close together; easy to pull in/out. We arrived after the office closed but they had our info ready and we easily found our sites. Had to set up in the pouring rain, but since the sites were paved & level it was relatively easy. Everyone in our group commented on the great bathhouse - excellent, best ever seen at an RV park. No tents allowed on pull through sites (we did not realize this and were told to take ours down). Great location for all the attractions in the Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown area. The additional amenities at the park we made use of were the laundry and the pool (both great). We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

It features a well laid out campground, and the interior roads are functional although not paved. It has nice access to interstate 64 yet we did not notice any highway noise. Check in easy. We had a pull through site. A sites have a cement pad, which was very helpful since it poured one morning, and there was some flooding, but it drained very quickly. Bathrooms were redone in a quality tile, which made me feel like I was staying in a Westin hotel, rather than a campground. This was a very peaceful campground, just about 10 minutes from Williamsburg, but only 2 minutes off of 64. Definitely will come back when I am in the region. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed 6 nights at this RV park. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Very good grounds, clean and well kept. We had a pull through site with concrete pad and enough room for outdoor activities. Water pressure good, with cable TV and internet service. We would stay at this park again. I would suggest that owners consider putting bigger signs giving directions to their park as we had a little trouble finding the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you have a big rig, motorhome/5th wheel/trailer, this is the park for you if you are visiting Williamsburg. Easy access, adequately sized, level concrete sites, grass & pads. Pool is a little far from most sites. Well maintained; friendly, competent staff; clean, shade trees, and laid out thoughtfully for the afternoon sun, so you are not staring into it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Older park but is well maintained by office area. Sites are very small. No place to park tow vehicle once the trailer is in the site. Roads are gravel and had ruts in them but it had rained hard. Concrete pads for the sites are large. Utilities were fine. There were a few low hanging branches, one neighbor had to have some limbs cut just to get into their site. Staff was very nice and were very visible. Would camp here again but would request sites closest to the top of the hill by the office. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice, quiet campground. Mostly pull through sites with level concrete pads. Picnic table is also on concrete. The train goes by several times per night and blows the whistle, but it is past the rear of campground, can only hear it and cannot see it. Very easy to get in and out of site. Nicely landscaped. We stayed for 2 nights and just wanted a quiet night's sleep and that is what we got. Park is very well maintained. We saw someone on a golf cart driving through several times per night just checking on things. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. The $45. reflects AAA discount. We camped here in a 31 foot rig with no leveling jacks and did not need them. Very level sites. Most easy campground we ever camped in, to get in and out of. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our area of this park had well maintained level pull-through concrete pads. Utilities were conveniently located. The office was helpful and open even later than advertised. They had wood delivered to our site after hours. Nice play ground and camp store. Showers and bathrooms were very clean and large. If we come here again, we will opt for the shady wooded sites that are being added now. Our area had little shade. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The sites are close together and there are no trees or bushes in between them, so there is little privacy. The restrooms and showers were very good and clean. They pick up your trash at your site. We did not use the laundry but it looked clean and well kept. This park is convenient to Colonial Williamsburg and the outlet mall. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice Park, close to all things at Williamsburg. When you turn off RT 607 it is a short very narrow road to the Campground. The bath house was very clean and will furnished. There is only one bath house which I am sure would fill up fast when the park is full. Most sites have a concrete pad with a patio and table. All sites have full hook ups but the internet can be very slow at times. There are a lot of pull through sites, however the drives are tight for big rigs, if your green at wheeling a big rig take a site close to the office, (larger drive in those rows). The sites are close if your having a campfire. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we will use this park when staying in the area in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We just returned from spending the weekend at American Heritage RV Park. We arrived after hours and found our reservation and map pinned to the board just as promised. Arrived to find our site with no problems. Most sites including ours had a concrete slab and picnic table. The park was about 3/4 full with the warm weather and two clubs here. The bath house was clean and heated. The Wi-Fi was slow at times. The only reason I did not rate a 10 was due to the roads through out the park. There was little stone and lack of pavement leading to dusty conditions on the main park roads. Not sure why they would not pave or stone to keep the dust down. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a decent park for visiting the Williamsburg area. A couple of negatives caused me to rate it as soso. For bigger rigs, the roads are very tight. Water collected around and under our rig for days after it rained. Had much mud around the hook up area. If ever in the area again, I would look at another park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A decent park with full hook ups, but a little pricey. The pads are concrete, and have a nice size concrete patio attached as well. The interior roads can be a little tight if you have a larger rig. Our 35' motorhome was tight in the corners. Anything past row #3 will be a challenge to get satellite reception. I managed but it took a while to find a hole in the tall trees. They have a fenced dog run but it is tucked back a corner so it's a bit of a walk to go there. Good location though to visit the "Historic Triangle" of Williamsburg, Jamestowne, and Yorktown. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We picked this campground based on decent reviews and its location nearby our vacation destination. We were told about a Bluegrass Festival happening toward the end of our stay, but were given a site toward the back of the campground to have some amount of quiet. This campground seems to be favored by the "big rigs." Our little 23 foot hybrid TT almost seemed out of place. With the much larger rigs, we found that many of them have the feature of an outside TV tucked into their sides. This resulted in way too much TV noise for our taste. The third evening we were here, one neighbor had the TV turned up loud. Since the sites are very close together, this became unbearable, so one of us approached the neighbors and mentioned that we came camping to get away from the TV. They responded kindly, and actually did generally keep their TV quiet the rest of our week visit. The other main complaint we had was the railroad nearby with its whistle. Very nearby, I should say. One of the tracks was maybe a half mile away. Since it ran some evenings into the wee hours of the morning, we had trouble sleeping many of the nights. Also, we may have just been here on a particular week, but it seemed over 80% of the campers had at least one dog. The dogs at the campground were mostly well-behaved, but it sounded like there was a kennel somewhere nearby because many times a large group of dog barking was heard. On the positive side, the bath house was very clean and well-maintained, and the grounds were also in very good shape. Our concrete pad was very level, we did not have to use any of our leveling blocks. Almost all sites have pads, only the "rustic" sites on the last couple rows don't. You do have to ask for them to deliver a fire barrel to your site, and they have firewood for sale on site. They also have propane. We did not make use of the pool or the hippo slide. We won't be going back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We spent a week and can say it was the best RV park we stayed at ever. Site roads clearly marked and easy to maneuver, clean, pet walking areas, laundry was clean and had TV, reading material available. Store was very nice. Very nice campground with convenient access to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Very close access from I-64, yet situated in an area insulated from highway noise. Campground was easy to navigate with pull through sites. Most sites had concrete pads and grounds had mature trees to provide plenty of shade. Restrooms were clean and they were really nice with individual tiled showers. Several things for kids to do such as a pool and huge inflatable water slide. For those of you who put the importance of WiFi at the top of your camping list, the WiFi was free and reliable. With so many other campground choices, I'm not sure that I would pick this campground as a destination to just go camping. There is no lake, mini-golf, bike trails, etc. that might meet the criteria of a more complete campground experience; but it is a very good choice for a place to stay while visiting Williamsburg. We will be using our season passes to Busch Gardens more often now that we have found this place as we will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground for exploring Williamsburg. The sites were landscaped nicely and offered a concrete parking pad and patio. The sites were a little tight though. The pool was a little too small. Park was kept up very nice and the landscapers are constantly working. Bathhouse was nice, but needed to be air-conditioned. The Wi-Fi was terrible, unusable most of the time. The 45 channel DirecTV offered by the park was decent and provided premium movie channels. We've stayed both here and the KOA and would say it's pretty much a toss-up. Incredibly convenient park with some of the nicest staff I've encountered in a facility. The maintenance manager took me around the resort in his own vehicle to find me the perfect site! Clean facility, sites are relatively level. If possible, get the back sites for an extended stay. They're much more peaceful. The only thing holding me back from a perfect review is the roads. They're very dusty! We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a clean and welcoming site. The lady in reception was extremely friendly and very helpful with regards to visiting Williamsburg. Our pitch was easy to find and level. The pool was sizeable and clean, the mini golf kept our boys happy as did the excellent "Hippo Slide." The comfort station was in very good order, clean and fresh. The drive to Colonial Williamsburg takes around 20 minutes. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 1 night. A beautiful setting with lots of shade trees throughout. The bath house was totally refurbished with very nice upscale tile. Very clean. The campstore does not carry any perishables so if you need snacks/food you will have to stop at a grocery store. The slide was a little pricey but enjoyable. Pool was very clean and nice size. New level concrete slabs for pull through and back in. Free delivery of purchased wood to your campsite. Very pleasant staff. I will definitely be coming back for a longer stay. This park was really nice. Sites were a little close together. We were originally assigned a site in the very back that did not look very level, also it looked like someone was in our site. When we went back to the office they took my husband out and found a different site. This time it was on concrete and level. Bathrooms and showers were amazing. Very clean! Slide was a little pricey so my kids did not use. Pool was nice. About the only problem was too few washers and dryers for as many people as was here. We stayed for 4 nights. This is a well-equipped campground with all the amenities you could want. It was busy, but not packed, and there were walking trails in the woods, and a fenced doggy park that was nice. There was free wi-fi, but it was very slow. My wife wanted to go down the water slide, but they charged a fee for that, so she didn't want to spend the money. For $45 a night, it would have been nice if it was free, but whatever. The staff was nice, and the park was very clean. We would stay here again for a night or two, but any more than that, and the cost would make me search elsewhere. Close to Williamsburg, and all the tourist stuff. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Well kept and clean park. We arrived in 106 degree heat and our first site had power output issues. We were accommodated with another site, but had to move in the heat, to their credit the staff was very helpful. Hippo slide was closed due to the heat the first day we were here. The next day we spent at Busch Gardens Water Country and had no use for the slide. Level concrete pads make set up and leveling easy. Roads are gravel and dusty when dry. Bath house was clean and well maintained. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a hidden gem found by us serendipitously. Basically we took a left while traveling to "see what this one looks like". From the moment we entered we knew where all of our stays in the Williamsburg area would be! This campground is perfectly maintained, absolutely clean, and has a terrific friendly staff. The camp store is stocked with all the basic needs, preventing us from making trips out of the campground. Who would want to leave? The pool was clear, perfectly maintained, cool, and refreshing. The bathrooms were strictly 4 star with 12x12 ceramic tile floors and walls and absolute cleanliness. It looked like they were adding some additional sites to the rear area that were going to be even more spacious and private than the main sites. I didn't inquire and am not completely sure how they are being set up. They had a giant blow up slide for the kids (and the kid still lurking inside of me). Definitely got what we paid for with plenty of value for my dollar. This campground gets an A. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground. The staff is extremely friendly and help full. They offer several reduced rates tickets to local attractions. The pool is nice and the kids loved the hippo slide. The number of sites with shade are limited, in the middle of summer in Virgina you can never have enough shade. It was above 100 degree's on several days, and there was no problems with power. Enjoyed our three-night stay here. Park was quiet and clean. Trash pickup at our site every morning. Wifi was strong and cable TV excellent. The laundromat was kept clean and functional, and we had fun playing mini golf. My dogs loved the enclosed dog run. The game room, however, has seen better days. The sites are paved and level. The streets are gravel, but very dusty. We were on the first row and people drove very fast on this particular street. This created a lot of blowing dust. The back of our RV was covered in dust. There are some shade trees, but they are trimmed. We were able to get a satellite signal. There is a fenced dog run. There is free mini-golf, a basketball court and playground for the children. The pool was not open and the advertised waterslide was not here yet. I initially paid for four days and then added three more days. I was told that the owner will not allow days to be converted to a weekly rate unless paid up front. The bath house is nice and clean, but not air-conditioned. There is no place in the shower at all to put soap or shampoo. If noise is a problem, there are very, very loud train whistles that blow many times in a row all night long. We have a 40 footer and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

American Heritage is a very nice campground. The bathhouse and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The concrete pads made leveling my travel trailer an easy task. The sites are a bit close together, and if you want a fire pit you have to ask for one. There is a very nice walking trail at this park where you walk by a small creek most of the time. My wife and I stayed 3 nights. It was very quiet. The pool had not yet been opened, nor had the slide that you see in the pictures. I believe that opens Memorial Day weekend. We drove through the Anvil Campground and knew that it was not for us, the KOA however did look very nice. We might try to stay there the next time we go to Williamsburg just to see which one we liked the best. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed our stay at this park. The staff was very friendly at check in. The sites were clean, easy to get into, and perfectly level concrete pads. I was a bit concerned towing a 39' fifth wheel after reading some previous reviews about tight corners. I had no problem, but did see one or two rows where one would have to be careful due to the trees. The facilities were nice and the bath houses were the cleanest and nicest I've ever seen. We really enjoyed the long nature trail and having the large dog run for our dogs. The proximity to Williamsburg was convenient and the park is just far enough from I-64 that there is no road noise to speak of. It is a very peaceful campground. We only had one minor complaint, and it is as much an issue with inconsiderate campers as it is with the park. We stayed in sites 51 and 52 which are right across from the bath house. Because of that, we had a constant stream of rude people walking right through our sites. Perhaps posting a sign or creating a walkway between the sites would solve the problem. Let me start off by stating that I expect to get basic service and amenities at every campground we visit. It's the details that set every campground apart. This campground was great on the phone, great checking in (we came in late, so checked in next morning), and the price was right. I was able to select my campsite (which I really like) and chose one in the very back of the campground for peace and quiet. The site wasn't exactly level but we were told that when we chose the site, so we can't complain about that. They have a very established nature trail that we used a lot. As I alluded to earlier, it's the details the make or break a campground for us. Here are the reasons this campground didn't get a 10: Wi-Fi was a strong signal but really slow: we sometimes waited 5 minutes for a page to load. The cable TV signal was bad: they knew about it but couldn't fix it and didn't tell us ahead of time. The playground could be nicer, no nets on the basketball hoops (again details), and there's some pretty tight turns. I would certainly stay here again as well as recommend this place to anyone. It just has a few things to fix in my opinion. Also, if you decide to come here, watch out for the giant pothole at the entrance. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a large RV Park convenient to all of the Williamsburg and Jamestown Colony attractions. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is located a bit off the beaten path on a two-lane road that affords a quite refuge from the hustle and bustle of Wliiamsburg. We were on a full hook-up drive-thru site. Sites are fairly close together, but well-maintained and surprisingly quite considering that the campground was almost full. They have a dog-run and large nature trail that affords some quite time for man and beast off the beaten path. Overall a convenient place to stay, close to shopping and outlet malls as well as tourist attractions. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The only reason I didn't give American Heritage a 10 is that the cable is limited (my husband disappointed that they didn't have ESPN), the sites are close together, and there wasn't much shade for most of the spots, and laundry was expensive. We really loved the proximity to I-64 which made it really easy to get to the attractions that we wanted to see. The staff at the park was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They also responded very quickly to problems (latch on the dog run was broken and was repaired within a couple of hours). The kids enjoyed the pool (although there's no kiddie pool) and the mini-golf. I didn't have any major complaints, however I did find it difficult getting into my assigned site (#61). First off, I was told to enter the row the wrong way to back into the site (this row has sites angled both ways). This campground has concrete pads which make leveling very easy, however some sites have a steeper approach than others. The site I was assigned had a steep enough approach that I needed to use 4WD to back the trailer up onto the pad. We were told that 1 vehicle could park at the site, however with our 32' trailer we could only park parallel to the road. Overall we had a great time here, however next time we will request a different site. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very professional and friendly staff. This has got to be one of the most well run campground I've ever been to. Clean well thought out bathrooms. All the sites that I noticed had cement pads. Best campground we ever been too. The sites were the best we have seen. Huge concrete pads with concrete patio connected. Office, pool, bathrooms were really up to date and clean. This place is landscaped and very well taken care of. Friendly staff, helped with touring the area. They also set up a huge slide for the kids which was fun. Best campground in the area. We had a wonderful experience. We camped as a part of a group: couple travel trailers and a motorhome. The staff placed us in adjacent sites even on short notice. The staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. The sites were wide with easy access and paved, there was also paved patios. We found the railroad noise minimal. We will definitely return. We were a little skeptical about going to this campground in the dead of summer. Although the campground was very busy (full for the weekend) it was very quiet at night. At first sight, it looks like the sites are very close together but actually the way the sites are laid out, you have quite a nice roomy site with concrete pads and patios. All sites are full hook-ups with cable, Wi-Fi (we didn't use) and 50 amp electric. This campground is close to all Williamsburg attractions. Check-in went very smooth and we were given fresh baked Spunkmeyer chocolate chip cookies which were wonderful and offered such a sense of hospitality. This is a very attractive campground and I would highly recommend staying here. Job well done American Heritage!!! P.S. Let me say 2 of the 4 reservations we made together were moved around to our dissatisfaction. When I brought this to their attention when we were the first to arrive a day earlier then the rest of our party, they quickly made it right so our entire group could be together. Top Notch Guys! A very nice park. Close to Colonial Williamsburg (about 5 miles) and Busch Gardens (about 15 miles). Park staff is friendly and helpful. Washers and dryers work well. A few dryers money slots stuck and needed some jiggling to get them loose. While the sites look like they are close together, the design layout makes it seem that there is lots of room between sites. We didn't have to look directly into anyone's windows or sit next to their sewer hook-up. Mostly long pull-throughs. Wi-Fi worked well. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This large campground has all the amenities, including a friendly and helpful staff. The paved and level sites which can easily accommodate the largest rigs are close together and lined up like a parking lot, but there are trees. Most camping rigs seem to be placed permanently. Nice wide sites, but interior roads can be somewhat narrow, especially if vehicles in the next row are close to the road. Concrete pads are basically level, roads are gravel and quite dusty. Management doesn't do a very good job of enforcing speed limits which makes the dust even worse. Some "campers" tended to be fairly loud during the day, but after dark, the park was quiet. Wi-Fi was good, cable is somewhat limited due to only basic channels. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a wonderful park but it was hot this weekend and their power got low on the voltage. I will say that the owners called the electric company but they got very little satisfaction. The fact of the matter though is that the power was sitting at 108-111 volts on both legs of the 50 amp plug. This was worse the further in the park you go. They have an issue that I am sure they will get fixed as it was not this weekend. They are a great campground and have plenty of space and nice sites that can get TV reception for the Sat system. I know I stated that the power was low but it is and was a pleasant camping weekend. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to make it convenient to Williamsburg attractions. The park is well cared for on the whole, which is reflected in a clean bath house and pool facility. It is family friendly and offers just the right ambiance for a great camping trip. The sites are plenty adequate in size, concrete, level, with perfectly functioning utilities. The bath house is wonderfully appointed, great showers. As a dog person, I want to point out the wonderful grassy meadows that surround the camping area; my good friend, the perfect Golden Retreiver, had a wonderful time here. I think you will too. It has been quite a few years since we have stayed here. I can tell the current owners have made some wonderful changes. The sites have been leveled out, concrete pads on most of them. They also have a small pad for your tow vehicle or toad. The roads could use paving. When I spoke to the owner that will be the next upgrade. Now the bathrooms, WOW. Ceramic floors and walls, with individual stalls for showers and toilets, with doors. Very private and clean. Just as nice as some hotels I stayed in. You can tell the owner really cares. Two items that need to be improved on is the store, there really isn't one. You have to go Walmart about 4 miles away for small propane or other necessities. Although the pool is not open, it could use some updating as well. Overall, they are doing great, and we already have made reservations for August. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We came here after checking in at Anvil Campground (which was about $1 less), then checking out when we discovered the bathrooms weren't heated (there was snow on the ground). Glad we did. The bathhouses here are beautiful and very clean, showers have good water pressure. Sites are spaced out, and most of the trees aren't in the way of the big rigs. This is the nicest park in the area, however it does have some drawbacks. The $28 rate was based on a month's stay, which is double what we've paid anywhere else for a month. We had an electrical problem when we arrived which was traced to a bad circuit breaker on the pole, which they promptly replaced. The cable was robust, and although we were tucked in the back, we were able to get satellite. The wifi was strong, but had technical problems that made using it very annoying. I thought it was unreasonable of them to not allow any vehicle washing even from a bucket. If you're going to stay in that dusty environment for a month, especially at those rates, you should have washing privileges, even if you have to pay a few dollars. They do have mostly concrete slabs, which is nice. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff in a clean campground and clean newly-remodeled bathrooms. Train noise described in previous reviews did not bother us, even at night. Excellent wi-fi signal strength and speed. There is trash pickup at your site. There is plenty of space between sites and plenty of room for tow vehicles or toads. Narrow lanes require wide turns but even though lanes are narrow, access into and out of campsites are easy. About 15 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, and 30 minutes from Jamestown or Yorktown historic sites. We definitely would stay here again. The only shortcomings we noticed were dusty gravel lanes which do not accommodate leaving RV windows open and, in a rear section of the park, there is a junkie storage area with maintenance materials, vehicles, junk, etc. A fence to conceal that eyesore would be welcome. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice big trees on pull through sites. Didn't like all the dust from the road, but it's tolerable. Trash pick up is nice. Centrally located to all the areas main attractions. Most things are at most 20 min. drive. Pool is small and out dated. Was easily crowed. Cable TV didn't work very well we only got a few channels. Office said it was our problem and wasn't very interested in solving the trouble. It wasn't a problem with our equipment. It worked fine before that stay and after... A nice park with concrete sites and patio areas. Getting onto site is a bit tricky on some sites as there is steep incline up to pad. We saw some big motor homes have a tough time exiting out of park, due to tight corners at end of rows. Bathhouses are newly remodeled and very nice. The Wi-fi was spotty. Cable got knocked out for 2 weeks after storm and there was no sense of urgency to get it fixed quickly. A nice pool, laundry and camp store. We have reviewed this park before. They have made many upgrades since we last visited. Many sites now have level concrete pads - and that can be a problem for larger units. Some sites have steep entrance ramps to the pad and some pads are not well graded. The steep entrance ramps to a pad can/will cause some camping units to drag bottom when entering or exiting a pad site. This condition will only be a problem for some sites and/or some camping units. I am just posting this as a warning to be aware of this possibility. The staff will work with you if you think you are going to have a problem. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I have reviewed this park before, but they have made major improvements to it since the last time I reviewed it a number of years ago. Now they have poured concrete pads for the rigs at every site just about except their primitive sites. They have pull thru and back in sites, but they all have concrete pads and full hookups or so it seems walking the campground. They have a wifi here too though I could not log in, but it is free. I am just using the aircard and that works pretty fast here. I would say that the interior roads are still gravel and put up a bit of dust but the entrance road has been paved as well so that is much nicer as well. They have made nice improvements to the sites and have mature trees and nice sites though they are a bit closer together than I would like and they have alot of extra room around the sites for future expansion. The people at the desk were very nice as well. We will come back here again, but mabe not let as much time pass. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed over July 4th holiday and found campgrounds to be very nice. It is convenient to Historic Williamsburg. The playground is small but nice as is the pool. There is easy access from I-64. The staff was very friendly, the camp store well stocked and the entire place was very clean. The sites have nice level concrete pads, with tables. My only complaint was that my site had two trees, one on either side. One prevented the awning from being extended...not a real concern on this trip. But the other made it difficult to make a left turn out of the site without going into the site across the road. Luckily, they left early on the morning of our departure so, again, it was not a problem for us. We would gladly stay here again although we would ask for a different site. The office staff, especially the woman who stays until closing, is extremely helpful and friendly in this park. WIFI was extremely dependable and FREE! We were gone all three days we stayed here - sightseeing in Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, but the people seemed to be very friendly and nice. The park has a dog run, but it is unlit and back near the woods, so it's a little buggy and you would have to visit it before sunset. All in all, we would definitely stay here again, even though it was a drive to all of the locations we wanted to see (but then again, that's the way it was with everything). I would probably rate the campground a little higher if the roads were paved. The dirt/gravel interior roads are very dusty except when it rains and then they become muddy. Although we did have to ask for a fire ring, we were told that the camp has plans to install permanent fire pits at each site. We camp in the fall, so this park has been very empty and spacious each of the two times that we have visited. We have found the staff to be very helpful, the grounds and buildings very clean. Sites we had were spacious pull-throughs, easy access. We give this campground an "8" because of two things. You have to pay for WiFi, $1.00 a day. Other campgrounds that we frequent include it in the price. For this daily fee, WiFi should be included. Also, there is an additional charge for a fire ring. In all of our years of camping, we have come to expect a fire ring to be included in the basic price of a campsite. But these are just minor issues. Overall, a very nice spot to use as a base to explore the Williamsburg area. Easy on-off to I-64. Only about 15 minutes to the visitor's center. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Horrible site access. We were in a 35' TT pulled by a dually. Could not make turns to get on assigned site & had to cross another site. When leaving, again could not make turn due to trees and ditches on road in front of site. Campground help directed me across a vacant site and camper scraped tree causing $700 damage to TT. Staff denied reponsibility. Unless you get a pull thru site in the front rows (and have a long rig) you need to bypass this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We used this park as a base for a week in Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. The staff was very friendly and helpful, check in was quick and our site was quickly assigned. We had made reservations with the usual one night deposit. The site was a pull through on the first row of sites. Road was a little dusty. All utilities worked perfectly including "cable" which is their version of DirecTV. We were in the trees so could not use the satellite. It was a 20 minute drive into the historic district to the Civil War Visitors Center down Route 60. This route is one of the main hwys into the historic district with lots of shopping and restaurants. All of the outlet malls and shops are along this road too. There is a good grocery store near by, and Wal-Mart not too far away. We were very pleased with our stay there and would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a very nice park, with most sites shaded, and some very wooded. Most sites did have concrete pads which were fairly level. The bath house was conveniently located in the middle of the park, and is undergoing renovation. Don't expect a modern sparkling bathroom, but the work they are doing looks very nice. The showers are mostly done, and everything was clean, even though under construction. They have a large swimming pool and a small game room nearby. I didn't notice any organized activities, and the office/store had limited hours. Store was stocked with bare essentials, but they had a decent assortment of normally needed RV supplies. Park was conveniently located between route 60 and I-64. It was 20 minutes from most activities in the area (Busch Gardens Europe, Water Country USA, and Colonial Williamsburg), but we enjoyed the feeling of being away from it all. A very nice campground to use as a base while visiting the area, and we will likely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground with level, shaded sites. Although the sites seemed somewhat close together, we did not feel that they were any closer than some other, nationally known campgrounds. The park was clean, quiet, and did not appear to attract party campers. This campground has a fenced dog run to exercise your dog, and plenty of open field space surrounding the campground for volleyball, football, etc. It took about 10 minutes to get to Williamsburg from the campground. Although the bathrooms were being remodeled, they were spotless, and should be beautiful when they are finished. Overall, we thought this was an excellent campground. Our biggest complaint was that there was almost nothing in the camp store if you forgot something. Also, there are no camp led activities if you are looking for things to do with kids at the campground. This is mostly a campground for relaxing after a long day of activities in the Williamsburg area. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is an RV Park, not a campground. I wouldn't stay here to just enjoy the surroundings, but if you are looking for a "home base" to check out all there is to do and see in Williamsburg, it works. PROS: Level sites with full hook-ups, nice pool, friendly staff, close to attractions. CONS: Only one bathhouse that really needs some work, sites are very close together, wi-fi connection was very difficult to get. We stayed here for two nights as a stop over on our way to the beach, and spent one day at Water Country. For our purposes, this park worked well and we would stay there again. This campground is utilitarian--the sites are crammed together, there is only one bathhouse so there was always a wait for the shower and sometimes for the toilets (at least one was always not working). This is a nice park with shade trees, a nice pool, and a very pleasant staff. The staff is very helpful, and in fact when a large storm blew in they ran around putting down awnings on campers. Most of the sites are level, and you can ask for a concrete pad site, but some of the sites are not very level at all. Make sure you insist on a level site if you need one. We asked twice, and although we were assured it was a level site, it was very unlevel side to side. A ways out of Williamsburg, but not too far to keep you from staying here. Trains can be heard from time to time in the distance, but not a major problem. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Chose this park due to this site. We had a concrete pad and patio next to the bath house. Site was large because of being next to the bath house.Some sites were small and unpaved. Looked like some sites in the back had just been dug out of the trees. Dust was bad on entrance road and through the campground. Needed rain badly! Pool was nice as well as the laundry room. Didn't use the game-room. Bathhouse was being remodeled but was clean. Gentleman cleaning about 10:30 one night. Not a lot in the store but we had a car to go get anything we needed. We chose this campground because of its close proximity to Colonial Williamsburg. The campground is also very close to shopping and restaurants. The bathrooms were being renovated, but were clean and had plenty of hot water. The laundry had 4 (if I remember correctly) washer/dryers, so I was able to do all my laundry in one shot. There were also video games, snack machines, books/magazines table and chairs in the laundry room. My children loved the pool, which was clean and had bathrooms as well. We had to change sites 2 times because we had decided to stay extra days to see Williamsburg. So if you are planning to stay longer than first planned try to advise the office asap. Apparently this park is very popular due to its location and gets booked. The sites were close together and not wooded. Also if you are allergic to dust I don't recommend this park. The roads are not paved and everytime a vehicle drives by a plume of smoke covers the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Good place to stay if you want to check out the Williamsburg area. This was a nice little campground with short driving distance to the pottery factory, Busch Gardens, Water Country, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Not much to do in the campground itself. There was a pool, maybe 3 or 4 arcade games, and a very small playground. (I shouldn't call it a playground, It was a swing set with a small slide) Bathrooms were ok and under construction. Pretty clean. If you are just looking for a place to sleep after exploring the area it is perfect. If you are looking for a campground with a lot of amenties and activities, try somewhere else. As someone else mentioned the dust was bad. Everytime someone would drive by, your site would get dusted...even when going very slow. They charge you for a fire ring which I have never run into before. Only $2.00 for length of stay which is not much but, like I said, I was never charged extra anywhere for that before. The people at the front desk were nice but the campground store was very limited and had short hours. Luckily, there is a Super Walmart a short drive away. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The one thing that comes to mind when thinking about this place is: dust. All roads are dusty, and it would be solved with fresh gravel or a weekly lime dusting. Other than that, I agree with the previous postings, although we had a particularly huge site, with plenty of side room. Our satellite antenna would not work(trees), but the cable was decent, as was the laundry room. The office hours were standard (9-5), and the park was well located for a Williamsburg visit. Rates are high for what you get, but they are not altogether bad. The sites are "adequate" meaning that everything works. However, they are very tight and not particularly level. We have a 37' fifth wheel which we travel in full-time, and we could not make the turns without running through the ditches (which had a number of tire tracks through them). Fortunately, the ditches are shallow, so that is not a major problem. Parking around your RV is also limited, as the spaces are about big enough for your unit itself, and nothing more. The playground consists of one residential style playground unit. The laundry was adequate, but expensive. Everything was kept up in good order, which was certainly a positive. The location is also convenient to the interstate and Wal-Mart is only a few minutes away, as our other major attractions including Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and Water Country. The cable TV works, but the quality was not good on several channels, and TVGuide does not have a specific listing for the channels they offer, which means you have to guess what will be on! We have already booked 2 more stays here, but do wish that there was either something lower cost in the area, or the same cost but higher quality. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped at this park so we could visit Colonial Williamsburg. The park is nothing special but it seemed quiet and clean. To our surprise and shock, a group moved into the row behind our rig and proceeded to set up a tent. They then began to perform bluegrass music. This went on and on until around 9:0 p.m., I asked them to please stop so we could get some rest. They did stop about 15 minutes later. I went to the office the next morning to complain and was told that this was a prearranged bluegrass festival every year. Many more groups of bluegrass players were arriving and began setting up all throughout the campsite area. I suggested that the management allow the folks to set up in a large grassy area away from the main campsites. However, I was told that the participants would not agree to that. Apparently someone neglected to tell me about this festival when I made my reservation. We were surrounded by people playing bluegrass music and all different tunes. It was intolerable. Management did, finally, allow us to move to a campsite as far removed from the music as possible. We will never go back to this campground. We also recommend that anyone making a reservation here ask up front if any "activities" will be going on during their stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here to explore the Williamsburg/Jamestown area. Our site and most others had a concrete pad so it was completely level, as well as a concrete patio. We were not in the shaded area, but even so there were lovely decorative trees throughout the campground. There was a nice playground. The pool was not open during our visit. We were able to purchase our Williamsburg tickets from the camp store, but the cashier neglected to tell us they were just vouchers and that we still needed to get in line at Williamsburg. One other problem that occurred, we came out of our trailer after dinner to find our site completely wet. Once we confirmed it was not our trailer leaking, we realized our sewer was overflowing. Management sent workers over to our site and they wanted to borrow our flashlights, hoses, extension cords to look at the problem. Finally they got there own gear and ended up using a back-hoe to dig up a few sites away to fix the problem. Took well into the night and was loud, but at least it got fixed. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We chose this campground on the basis of other reviews, and were not disappointed. It's one of the nicest places we've stayed. It is very peaceful and quiet, except for an occasional train. We had rain during the three nights we stayed here, so were thankful for the concrete patio area. Staff and park manager were very nice. We were leaving the day the park was to be booked full for a bluegrass concert, and we were allowed to park our camper near the office so we could visit Jamestown after checkout time. The only problem was difficulty of finding anyone after the office closed at 5 p.m. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the Williamsburg area. I must say the folks at American Heritage are a class act! We were towing a car dolly and while hooking up my car I forgot the lock pin on the ground and drove away from the camp ground, about 6 miles down the road we stopped and got gas and when getting back onto the interstate we where delayed on the ramp by an accident, needless to say I had no place to turn around the motorhome and the car so I needed to unhook everything to get turned around, when i noticed my lock pin was missing from my dolly I called American Heritage and was advised that a boy turned the pin in, the owners asked where we were and made the trip out to deliver the pin to us!!! I offered money for their time but they would not accept. What more can I say? You just do not get that type of service anyplace!! I want to thank them again for such a great camping expirence and their kindness for taking the time out to helping us. I will be back!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We arrived at the campground around 6:00 p.m. and were greeted by the host and park manager. Checkin was a breeze and we got the site we had requested when we made reservations back in May. What a lovely campground! Restrooms and bath house were the cleanest I've ever seen at a campground and free showers to boot! Park itself was cleaned daily, no trash to be seen anywhere. Quiet time hours were observed and followed, but even before the hours were enforced, it was very quiet and there were many children about. Concrete pads at every site made for easy leveling for my husband. You could rent a fire pit for $4.00 for your entire stay and that included a huge bucket of wood! There was so much wood we actually left about 8 pieces when we left for the next people and we had a fire every night. Neighbors were very friendly. We even got together with our neighbors and their children to play a few "family oriented" card and board games games. Kids had a great time, lots to do here with the swimming pool and club house along with the playground. Nature trail was massive and you really felt far away from civilization while walking it; its over a mile long and winds through the woods. Pets are allowed (although we didn't bring ours), and have a wonderfully large open run away from the campers, which is really nice for the animals. Manager came over to our site asking us if everything was to our liking and also asked if we would change anything, what would it be to make the park better. There was nothing we'd change, as it was all excellent. Manager stated the owner of the campground takes customers reviews very seriously and tries to improve per their requests. I would definitely stay here again when we are in the Williamsburg area. At $33.65 per night with the Good Sam discount, you can't beat it! My highest recommendations! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park to use as base of operation if you are going to Williamsburg/Busch Gardens. A very few of the sites have concrete pads, most are grass and roads are crushed rock making it slightly dusty. Sites will fit biggest of motorhomes, saw everything in here from small TT's to Prevosts and Newells. Not much in the way of amenities. Pool closed until Memorial weekend, no playground, no cable TV. Bathrooms very clean, grassy areas neatly trimmed and mowed. Quite park, heard a train one night off in the distance. WIFI available for $1.00 per day - very sporadic, especially difficult to use in the evenings and we were only two sites away from the antenna. Plug in modem available in clubhouse. Cheaper than the local KOAs but still overpriced especially considering that the pool wasn't even open - think they should have lower rates when "off" season. Friendly office staff escorted you to site. No privacy between sites, but they are large enough to have awnings open and not touch your neighbor. Trash pick up every morning at your site. New electrical service, shade and full sun sites available. We would return again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This RV Park was very clean and well maintained. We arrived a couple of hours earlier than check-in, however, they were quite happy to let us book in early and there were no problems with our reservations. They were very friendly and extremely helpful when we checked in providing a lot of information regarding what was available near the campground, they also provided us with a list and locations for banks, stores, churches, etc. Our site was a fairly large corner site (#28) and had a concrete pad, however, a lot of the sites did not. We camped here primarily because it was close to Williamsburg. We would return again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We picked this campground after reading the posts about the train noise and the fact that we have a pop-up when we made the reservations. We ended up staying here in a new Hybrid. The campground is nice, it has plenty of shade, a nice pool and a book exchange. Most sites are pull through but have very little vegitation for privacy. We were very pleased and will return if in the area again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

WONDERFUL campground, nicest bath house we've seen anywhere, mostly grass/gravel pull thru sites with most being very easy to level on. Nice pool, nice laundry facilities, no cable but the satellite reception was easy and good. Easy access to/from I64. Game room wasn't much, but adult lounge was nice, very open, and quiet. This will definitely be our base of ops whenever we go to the Williamsburg area. While in the Williamsburg area we went to the Prime Outlet...this place is NOT rv friendly!!! Very little rv parking BEHIND the place with the dumpsters. Whatever you do, don't pull in here with your TOAD attached. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campground is a few miles outside Williamsburg so it's a 15 minute drive to any activities. Setting is rural but easy access to interstate. Individual sites are reasonable size but all are close together. Shaded sites in the trees are primitive only. Nice dog run but it's a long walk from sites. Very few children activities. Good base of operations when touring the area. It's not a destination campground. Very friendly staff. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campground, convenient to Williamsburg. We were with a group of people and they
scattered us up too much, would have rather been parked closer together. Everyone was very nice and they had trash pickup even this late in the year, clean restrooms and quiet campground except for the train that runs next to the campground which ran about 3-4 times on Thursday night. I would return if in the area, but not my favorite campground for sure. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here on our way to the Outer Banks. Campground was very clean. The folks at the registration desk were very friendly and helpful. Very little shade (most sites 90% were in the sun) not a problem for us. Very quiet, no traffic noise. Close to the Pottery and all attractions, close to I-64. We will stay here again. We stayed here in a 37ft 5th wheel / Dodge Ram 3500 in September 2004.

This is a very nice park located a few miles west of Williamsburg. The park was very clean and grassy. Some sites have concrete pads but all are good sized and can accommodate large rigs. We will return to this park on our next vist. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first time out and we loved this place. The bathrooms/showers were spotless.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Since it was our first time, they sent someone with us to show us where and how to set up. We were there May, 2004 in a Damon Daybreak 3270. P.S. Thanks to the Texas fella who gave my hubbie tips on keeping the motorhome between the white lines! His advice was invaluable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground. The restooms and showers were very clean, and the park itself was
spotless. We ended up with a concrete padded site. The park had several wooded trails for hiking and biking. Roads were mostly gravel, but packed enough for
my three year old to ride with training wheels. Other than the pool and large fields there is little in the way of recreation, but we kept busy with Busch Gardens and Williamsburg. Campground was quiet at night. They do not allow clothes lines, found this out when my neighbor received a note on his door after hanging wet clothes out to dry. Overall I would give this one a goodmark, and would go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very well-run park. Systems all work well, roads were in good condition, bathrooms were extremely clean and in excellent condition. We camped early in the season, so the park was not full and the pool not yet open. There is a train track nearby, but far enough away so it didn't trouble us. The park could use a playground. The location makes a good home base for touring Williamsburg & Hampton Roads, etc. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a must see campground. Every thing is so clean and neat. Open meadow with plenty room for the kids to run and play. They even have a dog run, never seen that before. Out of all the other campgrounds in Williamsburg, this is the best of all. The nicest people working there. We will stay here again, so easy to get to. We enjoyed this campground because of the friendly service, the cleanliness, and the location. As full-timers, we stay here in the spring and the fall for a month each to visit our family and the historic sights. There are trains, but we do not find them intrusive--we enjoy hearing and seeing them. The laundry room and restrooms are kept clean and in good working order. If a camper needs any help with hooking up or leveling or information, the staff is readily available and willing to help. The sites are a little tight, but adequate. There is a little road noise, but no more than in many place. Good place to stay... We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a lovely, little, well kept campground. Everything was so neat and clean. Our site was adequate, close to our neighbors, as all the sites are. The hookups were great. Wifi worked good. Bathroom and showers were very clean. Laundry was good, 4 washers, 4 dryers. The area was landscaped nicely. Yup, there are trains. Yup, they are loud but really for one or two minutes only a few times a night. The road noise was much more disturbing. The road is a continuous busy one with fast noisy cars, trucks and motorcycles. Since we toured all day, we were not subjected to road noise all the time and it did quiet down a bit around 10pm. The staff was very friendly and helpful but not sure we would return here, only because of the noise. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Three nights to visit and explore Williamsburg. Sites butt right up to the railroad tracks, literally not more than 30 feet away which was interesting. They do run around the clock, but didn't disturb our sleep as we had "white noise" on at night. Sites are small. Fire pit was situated where our RV door opens so I moved it. Could enjoy a campfire OR have awning down, but not both, as sites are too close together. Watch out for poison ivy around sites. Presumably people visit here to explore the town as did we, not for camping, and for this purpose it is just fine. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very tidy park, but not sure how anyone can say that the train noise isn't intrusive - especially at 3 AM as the whole ground shakes!! On some of the sites you'd be less than 5 yards from the track!! Sites very 'tight' - had to reposition in order that the slide-outs didn't touch the fence on one side or a tree on the other. Cable TV only has a decent picture on about three channels - you watch the others through a 'blizzard'!! Very conveniently situated for access to Historic Williamsburg - only a 15 minute bike ride away (or 5 minutes by shuttle-bus) and the rest of the 'historic triangle' - the best reason for stopping here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We chose this CG because of the shuttle, but after reading the directions to Colonial Williamsburg, decided to hook & unhook our small MH, Only 3.5 miles one way and easy to get there. Train noise was minor though on Wed night there was more. We chose to stay in the center section of the CG. The trains weren't bothersome, but we had windows closed. Traffic noise very minor, some morning to work. Check-in person very helpful. I would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed in one of their standard back in sites that back up to the tracks. We were there for 5 days and the trains never bothered us at all. There is not a lot of extras but the pool was immaculate and all 3 play areas kept our 6 yr old entertained. The only negative in this regard is the fact that approx 1/3 of the electronic games were not working in the game room. Being on the Williamsburg public bus line is convenient but not overly so. The service is not frequent enough and service to Busch Gardens was not great. You can't beat the price though. The most outstanding element of this family run and family friendly park is the staff. They were all truly excellent. We would gladly stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The sites were small and close, but adequate, fairly level, and nicely shaded. Getting in and out was easy. Every thing was clean and well maintained. The pool was small, but so is the campgrounds, so it was never too crowded. The location was GREAT since it's close to all the local attractions. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Busch Gardens and Williamsburg. I would have given it a higher rating if the sites were larger, there were planned activities, and the playgrounds included a little more than standard backyard equipment. But really, in this area, there's so much to do that we didn't really miss those things and wouldn't have used them if they were there. Kids can't wait to go back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Unfortunately, train tracks are located right next to the campgrounds and from midnight last night to 0800 this morning there were at the very least 8 different trains going by. The ground shakes and the noise is very loud. For us older folks who don't sleep well to start with this was a most unpleasant night. The previous night was just as bad. This very small, very tight park is well kept, with much to occupy small children, incl. a nice clean pool. There's pleasant shade; it's terrifically located among things to see and do. I struggled with a rating for this campground. It has so many good features but the few negatives are a big factor. The area is well maintained and in good condition. Personnel were some of the friendliest and most helpful of any campground I've visited. Sites were level gravel. Space was tight but that can be expected with a campground close in to a major tourist area. Very convenient to Colonial Williamsburg and other area attractions. The campground is sandwiched between a local road and some busy railroad tracks. The train noise didn't bother me but could be a problem for some people. Cable TV was out for the entire Memorial Day weekend. WiFi worked well. Pool is small but clean. 3/4 of the sites are well shaded. Not a lot of room for walking a dog. The worst problem was the water: it had a strong sulfur odor that my filter couldn't remove. We had to buy water and ice for drinking and cooking. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We arrived an hour before check in time and this was not well received. We were told to park in an open field across from registration but there was no way to turn around to get there. Our final site was very nice with table, chairs and flowers but sites were tight. Entrance to the park is on a narrow road and it's easy to miss it. Nice park otherwise. The campground is well established (it's advertised to have been here since 1954), close to area attractions and is very well maintained but, as they say, location is everything. The property is on the small side (a positive in my mind) and therefore very tight to navigate around with small sites that are very close together (not a positive as we were in a 43 foot motorhome) and is situated between a busy road and a set of frequently used train tracks. Not the best for creating a relaxing environment. There was constant noise from both the trains and the traffic. Most sites back up to the road with a handful of pull throughs in front of them. The others back up to the tracks. Hard to get comfortable here. On the positive side, this park has one of the nicest, most friendly and accommodating staff's we've run across in quite a while. They are genuinely concerned with your happiness and want to make your stay a pleasant one. Would I stay here again? I'd like to say yes but would likely opt for a quieter location. Beautiful park, nice trail that loops around the park. Awesome quiet even during the summer! Last year the daily rate was around $35 (after the discounts), the new 2011 rate is $60 (before discounts) yet no changes have taken place. The roads are either crush and run or simply dusty dirt. The bulk of the sites are concrete and nicely leveled, a limited few are still semi-graded dirt or crush & run. All in all a wonderful place, I simply can't justify that kind of money per night, guess I'll have to start looking at other local campgrounds again. Campground is very small, maybe 1.5 acres, we had a Premium site, back-ins only, site was so tight, my awning hit the motor home next door. Picnic table has to be in the back of the site cause no room next to the camper. If we sat on the picnic table, we could wave to the cars going down the road, lots of road noise. Across the campground road to the front of our coach is another row of back-in sites then a railroad track, which is used every few hours. We will probably not be back. Is there a train? Yes, however it never blows it whistle. We did not find this to be a problem and we did not hear it at night in our camper. The office staff is very nice and helpful. It is super clean. It is a bit tight however, we did not feel this was a problem. You are in a resort area and there were still lots of trees and shade. This is an interesting little park sandwiched between the road and the railroad track. We did not find the train traffic bothersome but some might. Small campground with a good location. It's close to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Has good water, electrical, and WiFi. That is not enough to bring me back. The campground is located between a busy highway and railroad, only yards from each. I was in a site near the highway and away from the railroad, and my motorhome still vibrated as the trains went by. No sites seem to be level, but the ones by the highway are very bad. Bathhouses are old, but clean. There are better choices in the area. Even though April begins their peak season, this campground was mostly empty. With all things considered, it's way over-priced. Small campground nestled between a busy road and an active train track. Other than road noise and the occasional train, camp was very quite. Nice playgrounds for kids. Store and office have limited hours during the winter with a sign on the door with phone numbers to call if you need help. This campground is very convenient to Colonial Williamsburg, and a reasonable drive to Jamestown, Yorktown, and Busch Gardens. Hourly shuttles are available to all the attractions. This is a small, older campground and shows a little wear, but the staff is professional and courteous. Our only complaint was the noise. Our site backed up against a fairly busy road, and this campground is adjacent to the railroad. This was my first time coming to Williamsburg, Virignia. There were many things that made this campground nice. For starters I would like to tell you about the experience I had with one of the office clerks. Her name is Leann. She was working by herself in the office and very busy at the moment. That did not stop her from providing everyone with excellent customer service. She had 3 people there to check in and she took quality time with everyone to make sure that they were happy and explained everything to them. She was really helpful and very friendly. Second many people complain about the train. My husband and I didn't have any problems with it. This campground is very clean and the maintance men are always working if anyone needs help. The last thing that I would like to mention is that this campground offers discounted tickets to Bush Gardens, Water Country, Williamsburg, Jamestown, and one other place. This is a small park wedged in between a busy highway and a loud freight train line. It is convenient and close to everything, but the small size and the freight rail tracks that are close to the back side of the place, are missing on their campground map! Only if you like loud trains at varying hours of the day or night will you enjoy this CG. I cannot recommend it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Yes, it is older, but to me the condition is more important and the condition of this park is being constantly updated. Maintenance was always checking things, bringing things up to snuff (during my stay peeling paint was redone in a bathroom stall). The sites were pretty level, hookups worked fine and sites are wide enough for slides and awnings. And yes, CSX trains come through regularly right next door, but so what. It's quiet otherwise. And best of all, they have a bus to all the area sightseeing. For a buck and a half all day pass, you can go all over the area. I camped here three days in a motorhome We camped here in a Motorhome.

I agree with the other reviews. It's a nice, older park but it's well maintained. The noise didn't bother us but it might some people. We've been to worse. :) My only complaint is that it is heavily wooded. I couldn't find any satellites with my Direct TV antenna from any spot. I would not stay here again because of that problem. On the plus side, it is a Passport America park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The location is the closest to Colonial Williamsburg. They advertise they have a shuttle bus to the colonial area but in actuality it is a city sponsored shuttle (fee). We felt the advertising of the shuttle was misleading. There are several premium sites that are larger than the other sites (50 amp and wi-fi) but they were next to a busy road and not all that larger width-wise than the less expensive 30 amp sites. Our 30 amp site was very narrow but we appreciated the shade. The main problem was the many, many trains that were about 30 feet from our RV. I held my breath that there was no derailment. The next door neighbors had a smoky fire which was just 10 feet from our unit. The sites are too close for fires, we feel. There are only two women's and two men's showers for this camp. There were lots of tenters who used the facilities so there was a backup at times. Our main concern was the small site, the proximity of fire rings and the frightening train traffic; otherwise it was a good place from which to explore the historic areas of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. They offer a Good Sam discount so that kept the price as $36 rather than $40. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground is dated at best. The train tracks are literally 20 feet from the campsites on one side of the campground. There is no fence or barrier to keep your children from getting to the tracks. On the other side of the campground is a busy road that your children have access to as well. Be wary of any campground website that only has one picture of their campground on it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very small yet clean park with all of the amenities you'd need. Recently updated electrical power boxes, water, sewer, and cable. Pool small but clean. Sites adequate but not large. Several playgrounds, nice landscaping, clean. On the Williamsburg Area Transit line, which is why we camped here (no car, just a motorhome). This is a place to stay if you are seeing attractions. It is not a place to get away from it all. There is traffic noise and trains. We knew this going in and it didn't bother us. We would stay here again. Very close to attractions. The only thing we didn't like: the buses do NOT run on Sunday, which surprised me, as this is a Tourist Town. But that had nothing to do with Anvil. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As you can see by the reviews, the train is a real issue. Why don't they make it clear right up front in their literature? NOTE: There is an active train adjacent to the campground! We stayed at a park in Hershey, PA last year and they made that same thing known in all their advertisements. It reduced the criticism by eliminating the surprise factor. Secondly, the special reduced price attraction passes that were touted were all sold out. When I found out that the extra savings was only 50 cents per person, it was sort of laughable. Thirdly, the store ran out of bagged ice. How can you let that happen in August? Lastly, the staff was courteous. The location was ideal. My children were happy with the place for the two days. My expectations were higher. I'm glad for this website because nothing in this campground's advertisements or website would indicate that this place was anything but a world class facility. Woodall's or Good Sam rating are really no guarantee. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

I hope you love trains if you stay here! Beginning around 5PM they run about every 2 hours - doesn't seem too bad until around midnight and 3AM. The tent sites are literally only 20 feet from the tracks - on the other side of the campground is a well traveled road. We requested a full hookup site. We received a site with electric and water - no sewer because the person who handled our reservation decided we didn't need full-hookup. We have a tent trailer, but we do have a bathroom, which they didn't take into consideration. They provided us with a container for our gray water and an apology - this also meant no cable. The park is small, tight and crowded. The campground is a circle - the inner sites (which we were assigned) at one time were pull thrus for one trailer - now they are divided in half and basically you share a site with another trailer by backing up to each other. Sites were divided by thin wood railings and were gravel. Pool is the size of a large bathtub and with more than 6 people the pool is full and standing room only. There was a bus into Williamsburg but we didn't use it. Very small restrooms (2 showers, 2 toilets) but relatively clean, we opted to use our own. The only plus is it's convenient location to downtown Williamsburg and shops on Rt. 60. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Closest campground to historic area - Sites are very close together. Only 2 shower stalls for the whole campground. It was 90 degrees and swimming pool was closed for repairs. There are train tracks on one side of the campground where the tent sites are located and a lot of trains go by. We spent 5 nights here. They have paved interior roads and adequate sites. They have a very small laundry but a good grocery store and gift shop area. Also a nice game room for the kids. The staff is very nice and informative. They have great WiFi service. The big attraction here is a bus stop near the park entrance but we drove everywhere. The park itself and the facilities are quite good. The BIG negative is location. The park is sandwiched between a busy road and a busy railroad track. It backs up to a very busy rail line and some sites seem to be about 10 feet from the tracks. Trains came by day and night and while they didn't blow their horns, they made lots of noise just because they were so close. You could also feel the vibrations from the trains. The passenger trains screamed by at about 50 mph and the cargo trains roared and rumbled by at 30 mph. The noise didn't bother the husband but woke up the wife numerous times each night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a small campground located close to major tourist attractions. Although the staff is friendly and the grounds are clean, its location between a highway and railroad tracks make it difficult to recommend. Because there is no fencing blocking access to the train tracks, I would not feel uncomfortable allowing young children to play unattended. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I felt very safe staying at this campground. However, on our first day, one toilet in the ladies room & two in the mens room were clogged. We just used our own after that! The pool was being cleaned, so the power washer was being run A LOT! And they replaced some landscaping and fence right beside our site, so that was a mess, not to mention noisy also. Of course not as noisy as the trains. After a few days we did get used to it, until one night when SEVEN trains went through. I had requested a site as far from the trains as possible, but we were put in the middle row, in a small back-in site. Good thing we don't have a slide out, because we could not have used it. Overall, it wasn't a terrible campground. We stayed there because of the availability of the public transportation. I would stay there only if I had to rely on using the city buses or wanted to be close to all attractions. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Best thing is .. is this campground is within minutes of every attraction in Williamsburg. Stayed at the park as they advertised "transportation provided to Busch Gardens", asked about it upon arrival and was told that we had to catch a public bus from the street to a bus terminal than catch another bus to Busch Gardens (& we had to pay for it). Some trailers on site are permanent and are run down with some seedy people. Very noisy; there is a busy road on one side and a VERY NOISY railroad on the other that when trains pass (about 5 times a night) the ground shakes like an earthquake! Also the pool had not been opened yet but had black water in it with mold all around the walls. I would not recommend this campground to anyone! We camped here in a Motorhome.

The campsites are tiny, we hardly fit. Thankfully nobody was on either side for the 17 hours we lasted on this site. We went to bed at 10 pm and had 8 freight trains go by before 8:30 am, 2 of them lasting about 3 minutes in duration. This would not be so bad if the train wasn't 30' from our bed. Needless to say we did not get much sleep. We were sceduled for 5 days and we could not leave fast enough. The staff was very kind and understanding, I guess this happens often. They were not forthcomming though when I asked the night before how often the train came through. So with the tiny sites, the highway on the other side of the tracks, the main road on the other side of our camper, it was not much of a restful night. The final straw was the neighbors sewer connection was under our picnic table. I would not recomend even considering this campground unless you could sleep through an air raid. We ended up at American Heritage campground and it has been like night and day so far. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first trip in our new-to-us Class C. The staff was very friendly and seemed to really try to keep things neat and clean. However, the sites are very small and there are several permanent trailers in need of serious repair scattered around the CG. There is a train that runs beside the CG, but we were not too bothered by that. The pool was not opened but looked so nasty that they are going to have a heck of a job cleaning it out. I would be careful about letting my kids play in that one. The pictures on their website is deceiving. The CG is not as large as it appears or as pretty. When we arrived we did not have neighbors on either side. However, over the next day, a large Class A and another Class C pulled in on both side and it became quite tight. Our awning almost touched our neighbors slideout and his sewer hose came right up to our awning mat. Sorry to say, we will not stay here again. The service was good but this CG leaves alot to be desired. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the worst campground I've ever stayed in. The electrical system went down in the evening and no one was available to fix it. The trains run no more than ten feed from most of the campers parked in the "resort" and it is surrounded by two major highways. If the traffic doesn't make you insane, the trains will scare you to death. When the power went out, it affected the entire campground and there was no way to get power all night. The pool looked like pea soup. The bathrooms were filthy and the manager said, "we are going to clean them today". The dumpster was full and bags were piled around all sides. The manager said, "they are getting it today". I would avoid this park at all costs. Pay more and stay anywhere else in Williamsburg. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Anvil is a very small campground. There is no privacy with the extremely small sites. They list having 65 sites but, several have permanent trailers and others can only accommodate one trailer but are listed for two. There is a railroad track that runs directly behind the campground and trains run all through the night. They are loud and shake the trailers. They have a store, game room, TV room and office but they are never open for use. The 2 soda machines have been out the entire week we have been here. Nothing here has been kept up properly. This was probably a half way decent campground many years ago but now is run down and filthy. Their website is very misleading. We will never stay here again. For example: The hot water in the men's sink in the bath house has been out of operation since last summer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We chose this park because it was rated highly in the 2005 Trailer Life guide, and we are glad we did. The smoking is not a problem in the office as we had read in previous posts here. It is now a "non-smoking" office which appeared to be very neat and clean. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Pool and bath houses were clean. With the train on one side and a road on the other, this campground can be noisy at times. Sites are well maintained but are slightly narrow. Good tree shading. We enjoyed our visit and will probably camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

On the other side of us was another site that was used for landscaping equipment i.e. riding lawnmower, trailer, etc. etc. Directly behind us through a thin line of trees (approxiamtely 25-30 feet) was the very busy train tracks which were used all hours of the day and night. small bundles of wood were sold in the general store for $4.00 per bundle (they do not allow you to bring your own firewood). The sites were small but clean. On one side you could hear traffic all the time, on the other side was the train. (Woke me and my neighbor up at 2:30 A.M., thought the train was coming through our living room, actually shook the RV!!) Very small campground. No cable TV. Bathrooms were clean. Dumpster was out on the main road into the campground. (Not a long walk but I think the trash guys put it there to make their job easier). We will NOT come back. (You would be much better off staying at the campground in Williamsburg.) We have a big rig 37 ft 5er W/3500 Dodge Ram dually, and can report this campground is NOT big rig friendly. Public roads are on both sides, one which is a main road. There is also one big thing they failed to mention; the trains. There is a railroad track that runs less than 20 foot from the first row of campsites, which is even for tenters! We actually counted 7 trains in one night, from about 10pm to 7am that lasted anywhere from 30 sec to 2 min or more. Sites are very small! Our neighbors actually had to use our fire ring because their camper was a 27 footer, and they barely fit in their spot! They do offer the 4th and 7th nights free, but beware if your a bargain shopper. Maybe not your best bet! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

The reason for the 6 rating and not higher is speed bumps. They create a hazard when walking at night. I don't think there is a need for them. Area is not well lit on interior road. People in office was very helpful and answered all our questions. The campground was well kept and close to attractions. The train was not unbearable but could be if your site was near the tracks and you were backed up to it. I would stay there again if in the area because of the easy access to Colonial Williamsburg. I must say that the office staff was very helpful and answered our every question also the campground was well kept. On the negative side, there is constant smoking in the office (don't they care about our kids), I have a 36' MH and just about fit onto the site, could not use the fireplace as it was under the slideout. There was at least two long freight trains every night that were within 20' of our site, however there are sites that are further away from the tracks. Not sure who you have to be to get them as I made my reservations 2 months in advance and was very specific

I disagree with the statement of the other comment. The roads were mostly paved or well kept gravel. The people in the office were some of the most helpful people I have ever met. Bathroom facitlities were very clean. The train did run by the campground but it wasn't that bad. I was told the dumpster was located at the exit in order to keep the smell away from the sites. I just dropped my trash off on the way out and have seen the same thing at other parks. I would come back to this camp again. We camped here in a camper.

On the positive side the location is great for visiting Williamsburg and the colonial triangle. Be wary of the weekends. There can be rowdy fisherman and lots of kids and there can be a lot of commotion. During the week in the fall it was very nice and quiet. We had a nice water view. But the roads need improvement and the site hookups can be strange. There is no cable and it was difficult to get a satellite signal due to the trees. We had to pay the nonresident price so without cable and without Wi-Fi and the weird hookups the price seemed excessive. There is a great bike trail nearby. If you are bringing a boat, this would be a good place to come. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We are in a 39' 5th wheel and have a back-in site with a water view, site 315. Our satellite does not work in the site, but we get plenty over the air stations. Our Verizon Mifi gets a good signal here. When you enter the one way road into the full hook-up sites, the road is easy to navigate; however, the other end has some tight turns with trees. When we leave, we will go out the same way we came in even though it is one way to avoid the tight turns. The park is not busy and only has 5 other sites booked for the entire weekend. The park is well maintained and has a friendly staff. The park is also very quiet. We would come here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was great for us. We had a site on the water: actually a bluff above the water. Beautiful views and plenty of room. We were very impressed with the facilities: boat ramp, RV camping and tent camping with water access. There are a couple of small docks from which you can fish, and we caught a couple. It is close to the historic area, but away from the noise of town. The site was packed gravel and level. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a bike path/running trail that runs all the way into the residential area. Everything was nicely maintained. We'll be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It is not the best place for kids, not a whole lot to do. 2 pools but they are public use. Campers don't pay. I wish they had a kiddie pool or children's water spray area and more swings. If you have a boat + camper this is the place to be. This campground is owned by James City County. Not a bad place, just needs more activities. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We had a flat, level, gravel pull through site. There was a picnic table and fire pit. Lots of trees in the campground, but gravel, access roads were good, and the spaces were wide enough for the trees not to be a problem. The WI-FI worked well. AT&T cell phone coverage was weak. The KOA had a promotion of camp on Friday and Saturday night and get Thursday night for free; this was an unexpected good deal for us. This was a great campground; my only complaint is I have never been in a campground with so many barking dogs in trailers while their owners were away. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at the Williamsburg KOA Colonial and had a great experience. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, even though we arrived after 8 PM, leading us to our site and assisting with hook-up. The campground was very neat and clean, as was the laundry, and well-maintained. Although we were only minutes from the interstate the campground was exceptionally quiet. Getting to historical Williamsburg was a breeze. We are already making plans to return to this campground again next year when we can stay longer in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Little tight for big rigs, the first site was too unlevel. We were upgraded to a premium site, concrete with pavers. It was very tight getting turned around - we have a 40' 5th wheel, towed with a Hauler. The employees were very helpful. Lot of trees but we were able to get roof-top satellite. Back-in sites may be better for satellite and looked deeper. Sprint cell/MiFi, electric, water and sewer worked well. Did not try cable or Wi-Fi. Our intention was to visit family, so we did not pay attention to discounts to surrounding attractions. Dog friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

There are two KOAs right next to each other - Colonial and Williamsburg - It looks like they bought out a neighboring campground. You sign in at the Colonial KOA. This is convenient to the freeway and Williamsburg, but very quiet and has lots of trees. There are some Premium sites with paved pads but the rest of the pads are gravel and many are uneven. The campground was pretty empty when we arrived in mid fall but we were given a very small, treeless site. We asked to be moved and were given the choice of several much nicer sites. The Wi-Fi is very limited and there is almost no Verizon cell reception. The pool, shower house and laundry is very clean and nice. Lots of washers and dryers all functional. The office staff were very helpful and pleasant. I would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed there in a 42ft motor home. Tight for a large motor home. Drive ways are not laid out for such. Very difficult to maneuver. Gravel sites. First site was impossible to get the coach into. We stayed the week prior to Memorial Day. Campground was well maintained. Sites are close together, but we didn't have neighbors until the last night. There are seasonal spots but there was no junk piled around like you see at some parks. Staff was helpful and friendly. We didn't like the spot we were assigned so a staff member drove me around in a cart to scope out other sites until I found what we wanted. We don't like having roads on two sides because of our small kids. He then helped me back in. It got very busy the Friday of the holiday weekend and we left the following morning. We had the pancake breakfast before leaving; it was worth going to and saved from having to clean up after the meal. Another staff member (the owner I think) did open the bouncy pillow early for me one morning. Our daughter loved the bouncy pillow and we did use the pool. I would go back, but not during a holiday period. The pillow and pool get very crowded, and as with any campground a holiday brings a lot of noise and traffic. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here overnight on our way to another place . Pulled in after hours and the map with our campsite number was nicely label on the front door of the office. We made our way to the site, slowly but surely as the road names are hard to see at night. The site was nice and clean, I think we were E45. Looks like a great place to spend a few days when visiting Williamsburg as it is just a few miles down the road. Wifi was decent, site was dirt and level (not sure if they have paved sites). Nice sized sites, although my pull through had quite a slope to it, but was very level side to side. There was easy access to the Interstate, and not far to the area's attractions. It was an added bonus to buy Williamsburg tickets at the campground, and get out of standing in what can be a very long line at the visitor center. Staff was very helpful and pleasant, and overall it was a positive experience. As a prior reviewer said, it does take a bit of planning to pull in and out with a big trailer, (mine is 58' overall), but it is manageable. I would stay here again, happily. What I’m looking for in campgrounds is easy big rig access, full hookup at 50 amp, level sites, secure area, and clean restrooms. Drive-through, Wi-Fi and cable TV are bonus features which are much appreciated. I have no interest in a pool, a dog run, or kid’s activities. I’m here to see sights in the area and the campground is simply a place to park my 37‘ rig. The campground has sites that are level and some that slope. I had no problem leveling but some may. The pull through was no problem but leaving the campground site needed some planning as low hanging trees and maneuverability was something to consider. Personally, I had no problem. The campground was quiet and nestled in among tall trees and easy access to the interstate. I'd camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is a mixed bag when rating it. Overall the campground is well maintained and ascetically pleasing. The sites range from level and easy to maneuver in and out, others which are very unlevel. One trailer, near our site required six inch blocks under the tires to gain level. Our site was a level pull through which has a large tree preventing pulling a large trailer out of the site. Concrete pads sites would be an option if the cost wasn’t so high. As previously noted the roads are a bit tight. There are over 100 cable stations. Electric and water pressure are good. Location is ideal for touring the local attractions. Would consider staying here again after looking at other area campgrounds. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We like this campground. It's about an hour from our home and is our go to when we need a quick getaway. The staff is VERY friendly & helpful, the facilities are nice & they have great activities for the kids. The pool is beautiful! It's near Busch Gardens, we come back to the campground for naps & lunch and go back for the rest of the day. We have camped here in several different sites, one time we had a staff person tell us that because we had German Shepherds we were not allowed to stay in our favorite site (which we had stayed in several times with the dogs before), but they let us have it and most of the staff comes into our site to love our big furry family members anyway. Highly recommend - the kids love the pool and jumping pillow. Gave only 8 stars because the playground needs up dating - but really, with everything else, they don't miss it much. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is another one of those old, typical KOA's. When making our reservation, I asked for a premium, paved site. The site that was available when we arrived was all dirt and grass, and we had a difficult time leveling. The roads were narrow and very tight. It rained the night before we left, and we were walking around in 3 inches of mud all around the motorhome. I know there are very few options in the Williamsburg area, but I would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful setting and convenient location make this a terrific campsite for the Williamsburg area. New concrete patios to accompany the concrete pads keep the sites clean. The pool is clean and well kept. Showers and bathhouses are also well kept. The only drawback to this campground (and the only reason it did not get a 10) is the dreadfully slow internet Wi-Fi connection. Don't miss the Bounce Pillow: the kids loved it. This park is an average KOA with all the expected amenities. I found the layout of the park (Colonial Section) a little strange in that it's laid out sort of like a figure eight with the pool and playground at the center. So fewer sites are near the activity center. And that is what brings me to giving it a low rating. As it seems to happen more and more frequently, especially at KOA's, the reservation desk will promise you anything, until they get your credit card number, with no intention of fulfilling your needs or requests. We were promised a certain site ("one of three back-ins facing the pool") but were made to take a site that was two spaces from the entrance driveway. I had taken the clue from a previous rating and asked for a site where the kids would be close to the pool and playground. My mistake was telling the kids and they ended up disappointed with me. Park reservations staffs need to remember that campers are customers and will ultimately only buy from suppliers that meet their needs. A follow-up e-mail note of apology, including a discount coupon for "your next visit", did not impress the Grandkids or me. There probably won't be a "next visit". We camped here in a Motorhome.

I would have rated this park higher if we didn't come across problems and a not so great site. When booking, make sure you ask to be in the Colonial section and near the pool, jumping pillow area. Much nicer area. The front of the park is not so great: sites aren't very level and were very small (no room). If we decide to return: we would prefer a premium site with a concrete pad. However, for the price I would rather go to Bethpage & Grey's Point. We did enjoy our time. The pool was not heated when we tried to use it: burrrrrr. The people at the front desk are not very nice and I noticed they were constantly moving people around. Not very good hospitality. If you book a site, make sure you ask for a specific site. We camped here for a weekend getaway. This campground has a lot to offer. The kids loved the jump pillow and heated pool. Our dog loved the K9 Camp area. Tornadoes blew through the area and put a damper on the weekend, but KOA had nothing to do with that. The sites are a little tight and some are a bit out of level. We stayed in the colonial (new) section of this KOA. We had a very pleasant stay. Staff was very friendly and CG was clean and well kept. Trash was picked up daily. We were given a pull through site near the office. Site was narrow. We were between a pole and a tree.We barely had enough room to put out slides and the awning. We appreciated the two bright yellow KOA signs to keep us on track finding the campground on the winding road leading to it. We were escorted to our pull-through, FHU 50/30 site in the Colonial section. It required 5 blocks in front to level. Rock should have been more plentiful to keep dirt down. Bathroom and showers were clean and adequate but wish cleaning time wasn’t 9-11am. Nice store. Friendly staff helped give directions to area attractions with preprinted handout. Appreciated the help at nice pool and with sewer which didn’t have a cap at our arrival. Free jumping pillow and playground. Good free WiFi and cable TV. Few bugs. Pleasant, attractive campground. Nice dog exercise agility area but waste bag dispenser was never refilled during our 3 days, maybe why multiple other users didn’t pick up after their dogs. Stayed 4 days and the campground smelled of rotten fish the whole time. Complained several times after finding the dead fish in a creek bank behind our campsite. The "staff" was mainly young "sonshiners" which lead to several confusing situations, making our stay less than satisfactory. There are two seperate campgrounds in this KOA and they have different rules, especially about golf carts. Most of the gameroom machines were out of order. Pool was small [our campground] and cold. Gravel sites and roads. There are several other campgrounds nearby that are less money [one with better facilities and one with worse]. We will stay somewhere else next time. We planned a stop here for a short nights rest on our way back north. I've always had good luck at KOA except this one. I had my wife call and make the reservation while I fueled up. The reservation agent did not ask her if we wanted a back-in or pull-thru. My only request was for full hookups. I had check the website earlier and found a rate (with taxes) of $56.56. My wife said the total was $62.50 so I figured we were getting a premium spot. We arrived at 10 minutes until 10 pm - closing time is 10 p.m. The woman at the front desk told us we would have to get back on the main road and go to the next entrance - about another 1/4 mile. She called the office to have someone wait for us since it was just before closing. To get back to the road I had to back up in the dark - not fun. We arrived at the second entrance and had trouble getting oriented. Unlike the first entrance, this one was all gravel, signage and lighting were poor. I went up to the office to find the door locked. I called the phone number and the woman who answered said we would find a map on the door. It was on the door so I it was up to us to find our spot. I studied the map for awhile as it was dark, there were no "street signs" and we had to make our way around by looking for buildings and spot numbers. We passed many empty sites, including pull-thrus, on the way to our site. When we arrived at our site B-07 I could not believe that they would put us there in a 34' class A motorhome. Again, it was dark, there were no lights, and we were surrounded by trees and other obstacles including picnic tables, fire rings, etc. Our spot was sloped quite a bit and to get in I had to pull into the spot in front of us. Good thing that stop was empty otherwise there is not way that we could have got in. I pulled into the spot in front of ours and jumped out to study the terrain. When I got out the electric step dug into the ground as we were tilted sideways - the rear tires were in a rut. Then I carefully backed into our spot until touching the leaves of trees. Our nose barely cleared the road in front of us. This spot was clearly not suitable for our unit. After seeing our spot I called the staff via telephone and they offered to give us another spot. However it was not getting late and we just wanted to get some sleep as we hit the road the next morning at 6:30 a.m. So much for a "quick nights rest." It would have been easier (and probably not much more expensive) to stay at a hotel. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We liked this park. It's clean, quiet and family friendly. Very close to Sonic, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Pierces BQ, etc., but still felt like it was in the country. Also, very close to York River State Park (day use) which is worth a visit. Kids loved the pool and jumping pillow. Very accessible to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA off I-64. This is a wonderful place to stay with your family. We have stayed at this campground on and off for years now. We first tent camped as teens, then stayed in a cabin as newlyweds, and now with our RV as a family. We have grown up with this place so it holds a special place in our hearts. It is very well run, well maintained and very secure. The staff is wonderful and seem to love their jobs. It has a perfect family environment and we have never had a problem with disturbances during quiet hours. They served a free breakfast on Sunday morning that was a real treat. We just wish the price was not quite so high, because you could get a nice hotel room for the same rate (and save gas money)! But I guess it is most definitely true that you get what you pay for here. Stay here and you will not be disappointed! We camped here in a Motorhome.

First of all, as new campers we were a bit apprehensive about this campground due to some previous reviews. We made our reservation on-line and got 4 nights for price of 3. You need to know that Colonial KOA and Williamsburg KOA are 2 separate campgrounds, although they appear to be owned and managed by the same person. Colonial KOA is on a hill and the Williamsburg KOA is downhill. Both are a bit rustic but Colonial is MUCH nicer than Williamsburg. It has a nice pool and jumping "bag" that kids really seemed to enjoy. Colonial KOA is made up of three different areas. First, there are several sites very near the entrance, then there are a few sites just across from the pool, and then there are a large number of sites in the rear area of the campground. We paid for a "super site" and it is just across from the pool. In this area you can have a pull-thru, a back-in or tents. We are in D-64 and all we had to do was pull right in and our camper was level with no adjustments. In the same area, there are some back-ins with numbers in the D-50's and they appear to be fairly level. I didn't really see any that were too awfully hard to level but some of the sites in the rear could be a little more difficult to maneuver into. These sites are graveled with a little grass and a few trees making for beautiful scenery. I don't have a problem with not having a concrete pad as long as you have a good outside rug and the site is fairly level. Overall, we love it here and plan to return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here 3 times. This is a very good park. The pool is beautiful and very warm, kids enjoy the jumping pillow and the recumbent bikes. We all love the bald eagles nesting in the lower portion of the park - amazing! I would rate the park higher if it weren't for the rough sites we've had the last two visits. This time there was so much slope that we were unable to set up the kingpin stabilizer at all. In order to make the turn to exit the site, we had to take our rig out the side of the site rather than following the road (and our rig isn't terribly large). They need to do some work on the sites, I would say. Also, Wi-Fi is strangely slow. Other than these two criticisms, it's a marvelous park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

As far as we could tell, the Williamsburg section of the park is not in use. We were in the Colonial section. We requested a site with satellite access and were told that would require a 'super site'. Upon arrival, we re-confirmed at the desk that our 'super' site would have satellite access. Once we arrived, I thought access looked difficult but set up anyway. I gave up trying and selected the cable TV which was robust. Shortly, a camper knocked on our door wondering if we had satellite access. He could not get it either. There was an unexpected $5 'resort' charge even on cold and wet days. Site was a back-in and was supposed to be plenty long for our coach and car. Very close but we could park the car cross-ways on some grass and got in. Upon entry to the park there is a tree limb that will scratch the top of your coach. I told the staff about it twice, they acknowledged others had complained. When we exited (a day early) the limb was still dragging across the top: so beware. The campground handout says you must take your garbage to a dumpster that is far away. While walking there in the rain, we learned that in fact they do have site pick up. There is a nice cable TV system but no guide is available. The grounds are good for dog walking but watch for the ticks. Staff was friendly but unresponsive to the limb issue. With some management, customer care changes (such as printing a cable guide, re-printing the campground handout with some accurate information), staff understanding of site size and tree coverage and a lower price this could be a nice place to stay a day or two. If in the area again, we would not stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Easy registration with Reservations, and were allowed to change sites and picked out an open area space. Easy to maneuver into site, and hookups were convenient as well as the area being a quiet area although may get noisy this weekend. Lots of handouts including information sheet about the area around here including directions to Yorktown, Jamestown, and the other historic sites in the area as well as restaurants, medical help, etc. Never having been in this area before, this information was invaluable. We went here during the off-season, yet many of the times that I went with my 2 sons to shower or use the restroom, the facilities were full. There were only 3 showers and two toilets in each of the facilities. I would hate to see how difficult it would be to get a shower during peak season. The Wi-Fi was very slow even though I had a strong connection. The rate was $55 per night, which I consider to be high, and then on top of it they charged an additional $5 a night resort fee. This was not much of a resort: just a campground much like most other campgrounds that I have been to that did not charge resort fees. The firewood was also very, very expensive: costing about $8 for 5 tiny pieces of wood. However, the staff was very nice. My kids really loved the jumping pillow. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is perfect for basecamp, it's minutes from everything. There's even a Walmart Super-center two minutes away. We found the park to clean and all staff very friendly. One major problem is there reservation system doesn't match your length with there sites, we didn't have a problem but many folks coming in did, I understood that the main office staff was very accommodating in moving folks onto sites that fit there rigs. We stayed in the Colonial section which is great for kids,and has a KOA bouncing ballon, pedal karts (free) and very nice pool, both sections have pools! The Williamsburg section is more geared towards couples and quite campers, just my take. In my opinion it wouldn't take much improvement to make this campground a resort, just some fresh gravel, mulch, and good signage. We camped in the E section which I found to be a very nice sites, most sites were roomy. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The cost of this campground is absurd. The sites are narrow very rocky and unlevel. The roads are truly not distinguishable from the terrain. The gals in the office were pleasant but knew very little about the campground. They indicated a site for us and I asked which side the hookups were on and they had no idea. No one leads you to your site and that is necessarily in this campground. I was told if I did not like the site just find another one. I had requested a site that satellite would be available on by phone when I made my reservations. To this point we have not been able to get satellite reception. I had asked to see someone who (possibly manager) and I have yet to see anyone. I am amazed that KOA would even consider approving this campground. I doubt that I would ever stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It has close proximity to all of the local activities, a friendly staff and nicely stocked store. We arrived very late out found us to have been put into a site way too small for our rig on a holiday weekend, but they readily fixed that the next morning, so the staff gets a "thumbs up." Note that we were in the newer and larger "Colonial" section of this KAO, and even in that section many of the sites, especially the big rig sites are too narrow. A fair number of the sites were barely level and need a bulldozer run through them. Most of the roads were gravel, with a fair number of tight turns. In addition, we found that the toilet stalls were way too small. It's not a bad campground, but for $55 a night and being in a major "destination" area, they could do better. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Most sites are wooded. Thought the rate was a little high, but a lot of amenities were offered (cookies, pet playground, jumping pillow, etc.), so we understood the rate. College kids worked the campground, but were very friendly and helpful. Hookups worked well. Wi-Fi was descent. The campground offers Cox Cable with about 70 Channels. This service was a little fuzzy, but still worked fine. Overall, this campground seems to have improved since our last stay in 2006. I would recommend this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in 45 foot motor home in Site A03. Easy access from I-64 off Exit 234B approximately 1.5 miles. It is the second furthest K.O.A. from this exit. This park is very tight for 40 foot or greater rigs. Would only suggest Sites A02~A04, which can be accessed by backing into from the park's entry drive. Narrow interior roads & sites are gravel with some grass. Free WiFi worked well. Many trees will block satellite TV reception in most sites. Office staff was very helpful and informative. Park is a little over priced. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If location is the key factor rather than amenities then this campground certainly charges for where it is rather than what it provides. The previous reviewers must have stayed in the "upper sites". We were sent to the lower sites which were very far from the showers and laundry facilities and did not have cable TV as advertised. The "roads" in the lower sites were poorly marked and the sites were sandy and not level. We watched as a number of RVers tried to park in their assigned locations and drove off or had to circle several times to find a suitable site. We were very disappointed at what we found and would not recommend this campground to others unless they were able to get reservations in the "upper" sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a very expensive 4 nights. When we reserved this campsite on line it stated $33 per night but when we got here it was $45. There are 4 different prices per year and we got the most expensive. The office closes as 6PM so if you need anything after that you will need to go up the road to the KOA Colonial which is open much later. If you come in after 6PM you will need to deal with the other KOA: really inconvenient. The office has very limited stock. There are a lot of trees so be prepared to have your rig and tow covered with sap. The positive is that this KOA is close to many attractions ,but be prepared to spend big bucks. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This KOA was a great park for visiting Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown. We spent 4 nights there. The park was very clean and neat. It had a hiking trail. It had attentive, courteous staff who told us about package discounts for historical sites in the area. There was a nice gift store and grocery store. As in many of the KOA's we stayed in on our 2 1/2 month trip, the free on-site wi-fi worked well. KOA's are a step above other parks, although more expensive. Guess you really do get what you pay for. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were very pleased with this campground! We were initially given a site that was a good hike from the bath house, but the attendant was able to move us closer. We were there in connection with the "Jamboree at Jamestown" hosted by the local Girl Scout council, and the campground was full of scout families and troops. It made for longer lines in the women's bath house, but the facilities remained clean and in good working order. The heated pool was a nice amenity -- especially at this time of year. The spaces were gravel, but fairly flat and well-maintained. Most were in wooded areas and it was a very QUIET campground despite the number of kids running around. We would camp here again if we visit this area again and would recommend it to our camping friends. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

When we booked two sites, we were told that it would be no problem to have them together. I made sure of this with two phone calls prior to our check in because one RV was coming from Florida and one from Connecticut. Upon check in we were told that we were not together and it was not possible to guarantee sites. The staff attempted to accommodate us but was surly and abrupt. The roads in this campground are in need of major work to distinguish them from the campsites. We were told that we should walk the route to our campsite before driving there so we would know where we were going. Major tree removal and tree trimming needs to be done. Many of the trees are damaged due to RV's hitting them. The campsites need to be leveled and graveled. KOA's pet policy was ignored re: breeds allowed and barking dog policy. This campground was not as bad as I was expecting based on reading these reviews before I arrived. However, I did camp there off season so it wasn't too crowded. I can imagine that in the summer, the campers are pretty crammed in there. Although I got a great deal through the "hot deals" link on their website, I probably wouldn't go back here again without the $99 for 4 nights deal. I did book my reservation online (which the website says you have to do to get the deal), but when I checked in, they told me the charge would be $160, NOT $99 because I have 5 kids with me. They charge $3 per night, per child. The confirmation I printed out said the charge is $99, it also noted correctly that we were checking in with 2 adults and 5 kids. I had to speak to the 'supervisor' who said it must be a mistake that the website only charged me $99 but he would honor it. This is probably good news if you are just a couple -- it probably limits the number of FAMILIES and kids but I always thought of camping as a family activity. Why the big extra charge is a mystery to me especially since they had absolutely no activities for the kids and the kids didn't cause any extra expense for the owners. Okay, besides that I'll give the pros and cons. First the PROS: convenient location 10 minutes to Williamsburg, 3 minutes to Walmart, nicely stocked camp store, most sites are wooded, heated pool is open until Oct. 15, fairly clean baths (except for moldy showers -- a bottle of Tilex would do wonders) CONS: Most sites are quite un-level (but that's what levelers are for), lots of gravel and dusty dirt throughout, pool was warm enough but full of bugs (they don't skim it), only SIX toilets and SIX showers per gender in the entire campground (175 sites! I can imagine how crowded these get in the summer!), unreasonable extra fee for each child. The normal price here is $45 to $60 per night (for 2 adults). Next time I'll stay at the State Park in Newport News for $25/night and same distance to Williamsburg. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice park close to the highway but far enough away that you don't hear the traffic noise. Make sure to check the Hot Deals on the web site. I got a premium pull through 30/50 amp with cable TV and free WiFi for $99.00 for 4 nights. The park is a little hilly with many sites way off level but the pull-thru ones up front are level. Pool was nice and rest rooms were clean and modern. Doesn't look like much to do here for the kids but this parks main attraction is the Williamsburg and surrounding areas. I would stay here again if in this area especially if they have the Internet Hot Deals. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our site was extremely tight and almost impossible to get into. We do have a large fifth wheel, but the layout of the sites just made it very difficult to maneuver. To make it worse, once I got the trailer in, I realized the electric pedestal was at the front of our site which made no sense at all. The other sites around us had the pedestal in the back as you would expect. Our 25' power cord would not reach. I went to the management office and had someone come look at the site to see if maybe I was not using the correct pedestal. She looked all around the site and she was also was very puzzled as to why it was at the front of the site and not the back. I only had a small gauge 15 amp extension cord and it would not handle the load of the A/C and kept tripping the breaker. Since I could not plug in properly and I felt it was the campground's fault, I asked if I could borrow a 30 amp extension cord for the night. She said "no", but that I could buy one from the camp store. I declined. I was finally able to get the A/C stable by using a 15amp to 30amp adapter so I could plug into the 30 amp breaker on the pedestal. Overall, it was just a hassle camping here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was small and surrounded by trees, therefore we could not use our awning. We could barely get our slide out all the way out. The road is very narrow & we had to move our truck just about every time a camper came through. We were on a corner lot. The site seemed to be unlevel. The cable TV channels were all fuzzy. Not much to do at this campground. Most of the activities were at the Colonial KOA. We walked the trail to the Colonial KOA campground. It looked to be a little bit nicer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Williamsburg KOA is conveniently located about 20-30 minutes from most area attractions. The staff was courteous and attentive. We had to call on them twice for a minor electrical problem and a problem with bees near our site. Both times they responded within 15 minutes. The pool, restroom, and shower facilities were clean; however, the restrooms/showers could definitely use some climate control to make them cooler. Children's activities were present and acceptable. We stayed in a "deluxe pull-through" site with our 33' trailer. These sites were extremely narrow and difficult to navigate, being flanked by trees on both sides. Several severe storms flooded ours and other sites with slippery mud. The sites could benefit from some tree removal and the addition of gravel. Overall, this campground was acceptable, however, we would likely try another area campground next time due to the poor condition of the sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was in excellent shape, and in a great location nearby all major Williamsburg attractions, including Busch Gardens and Water Country. The kids had a blast, with a number of on-site supervised activities to keep them busy. The pool was large and clean. The sites were on the smaller side, but manageable. There were no extravagant additional fees. A super Wal-Mart is a mere ten minutes away, but you would never know it. The campground store was nice and well-stocked, and the staff was friendly and helpful. This was one of two KOAs right next to each other; Colonial, I believe. We would definitely stay here again - my daughter keeps raving about it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground was okay. There are no really nice campgrounds in the Williamsburg area. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Trees make this park not too big rig friendly. A motor home behind us ruined his brand new motor home because the sites were very hard to get into. The bathrooms looked okay but not great. I don't know if it was just our site or what cable reception was poor. The pool was very nice but too warm. All four days we were there were over 100 degrees.I would recommend this campground because of friendly staff and there is nothing better. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are 2 KOAs side by side in Williamsburg. From what I could tell, they are run by the same group. The campground was very close to Williamsburg and a variety of stores and restaurants. But the sites were in very bad shape! They were very uneven, full of ruts, and VERY tight. Many people were having difficulties getting in and out. A lot of people had to move cars (and one case a 5th wheel) to let people out! The campground was full and the electric withstood everyone's air conditioning demands - we had 3 straight days of 100+ degrees weather! The pool was very well maintained and a nice relief from the heat. The staff was nice, but did not extend themselves. Showers and bathrooms were old but clean. The playgrounds were horrible - a must for us since we have 2 small children. It was a fair campground and I would look for a different one if I was staying in the area again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice park. I was there off-season and was using it as a place to sleep for a local conference. If you have a pop-up camper, they have a nice loop at the top of the hill and the sites are fairly private up there. The big rig section was more like a nice parking lot. It rained the entire time, so I cannot really comment on the recreational facilities. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

The campground smells like sulfur. Bathrooms are really dirty. There are bugs everywhere. Sites are really small and muddy. There is nothing to do at the campground for kids. Playground is old and game room is really cheap. The pool is small and dirty. Plus they say that they don't reserve sites till you get there at check in, but then when you ask for a different site they say its reserved??? Don't know how thats possible. Average campground at best. Sites are pretty close together for the most part. The place was virtually empty when we were there yet they still stuck everyone that was there on top of each other. They do have 56 cable channels but for some reason reception gets worse as the channel number increases. The last 10 or so cannot be seen. Desk Clerk must have been having a bad day. She was surly at best. The interior roads are ok but be careful. Exiting the Premium sites from row A44 - A50 means making a 180 around a big tree. I went out the wrong way on a one way to avoid that. Pool looked to be of good size (was closed of course). Game Room had a few video games, one pool table and an air hockey table. It was clean and in good condition. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park was wonderful. They were helpful with tickets to nearby events, and had all of the amenities we needed. The water was good and the laundry was reasonably large and the machines in good shape. We really enjoyed the stay. Be sure to check out the Hot Deal on the KOA website. We've beem camping here on weekends for about 3 years. The place is always clean, staff friendly and helpful, and we've never had a problem of any kind. I work online and the major draw for me is being able to have instant phone access right at the trailer. The supersites (with cable and phone) run around $47 (higher in summer and on holidays) but it's worth it for me to be able to get online in comfort instead of having to walk to a central location in the campground. There are less expensive sites and a central phone modem in the clubhouse (although the litte computer room is not air conditioned in the summer and so it's rather uncomfortable if you need to do more than check emails real quick). We like the wooded, pull-thru sites. And if you want to be away from people, ask for the "honeymoon" RV site :-) We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I was a little worried about staying at this campground due to some of the reviews I read here...but now I can't figure out why! We pulled in the Wednesday before Memorial day weekend and stayed till Sunday. I requested a change of campsite since I had forgotten to request a cable ready site, and the switch was made when we registered, no problem. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We did arrive early, but they always had a staff member outside to lead newcomers to their campsite, and appeared to be eager and happy to be recieving guests. The cable had about 40 channels including local, so you could check weather and traffic. The sites are not the largest I have ever seen, but the campground is lovely, most sites are nicely shaded and there were charcoal grills on site. If a fire ring was requested it was promptly brought to your site. As the weekend went on, the place filled up, but there was always a fairly quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The restrooms were spotless. The store was small but well stocked with most of the basics, and well equipped with information on area attractions. Tickets for most attactions can be purchased at the store. We especially liked that "quiet time" was observed, after 10, everyone was very considerate and those early to bed folks could rest peacefully. We travel with two dogs and there was an endless variety of trails and ways to "go for a walk". Everyone cleaned up after their pets. The pool was very nice, and was clean. While I did not use the game room, when I peeked inside it did seem like a weak point, not too many games for the kids, if you have them. Overall, I would reccomend this campground to anyone staying in the Williamsburg area. We camped here for 4 days. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Campground very overrated and overpriced. Don't promote yourself as a family campground and then charge extra to bring the kids. Check-in staff had attitudes and did not want to be working there. Sites are too close together -- some campers did not have enough room to even pull out their awning. Bathhouse is not the worst I've seen but they need extra attention for cleanliness and toilet paper refills. Reservation request to have adjoining campsites with others we were camping with were not honored even though we made our reservation 4 months in advance and were told it would not be a problem. Kids had fun at pool (even though it wasn't heated as claimed) and riding the trike rentals. We will not stay at this campground the next time we visit Williamsburg. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice quiet campground with professional staff. Easy to get to off of I64 and close to all major events in Williamsburg. Very clean restrooms and showers although we did not use them. The campground is very clean with fresh gravel on the roads and parking areas of the sites. The site we were in was a pull thru and was 22 feet wide which was enough for use to open our awning. The back in sites have more width. Ground fires are not permitted but a few people had those inexpensive grills from Wall-Mart and made fires in the pans. Their big rig sites are toward the front and there were a number of large Class A units w/toads parked there. The turns on the roads further back can be a little tight. I had no problem with my 26ft trailer and I saw others getting in and out with 30ft 5th wheels and travel trailers. Again, nice QUIET campground. We will go there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We have camped here many times, only for the fact that there is a lack of good campgrounds in the Williamsburg area. There is not much for kids to do here, the pool is ok, playground is small and old and the arcade is pathetic, most of the games were broken. This would be a nice campground if the owner came out of his upstairs office and put some money and effort into the place. Good location to Williamsburg. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Access to the campground is good, not far from I-64 and 10 minutes or so from Busch Gardens. The campground is kept pretty clean, ignoring the one shower where there must have been thousands of mosquitos/no-see-ums in it one morning (due to the fact some idiot left the door ajar and the light on over night). The staff were very friendly -- even the guy in the laudromat who just about asphixiated me when he sprayed the area to kill the flying bugs. The laundry room is kept very clean. They have only one modem connection in the laundry room - on a counter -- in order to use it you have to stand up (wotta pain). They have no bug control that we could tell -- and they could use a few "mosquito magnets" -- in the evening you get eaten alive. Cable TV is very good with over 50 channels (but some channels don't come in very well - notably the local channels). Oh, and unless you bring a fire ring, you can't have a fire at your campsite. The roads and the "pads" where constructed of crushed stone, dust kick-up is minimal. Swimming pool was adequate. Camp store was adequate. Site size was adequate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We went camping in pop up in Aug. Road throughout campground was not paved and in poor condition. There were not enough bathrooms and they were not clean. Pool was small and dirty. Campsites were almost all muddy. False advertisement as far as fishing at lake/pond. They do not own it and campers can not fish there. The creek is a joke, and there are no fish in it nor can you really walk along it because of overgrowth. Would never camp there again or recommend anyone We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The showers and bathrooms were clean, but we were there in the early Spring - off season. The pool is small, and although it is advertised as heated it was cold. Could have been because it had only been open 2 days. I don't know how long it takes a pool to heat up. The stream is more like a ditch, although I was told this when I called to make my reservation. We stayed in a camping cabin on the "lower" level. The playground is on the upper "level" of the campground. Our cabin was great. The heater worked like a charm. It also has an a/c which wasn't needed in April. There is a shuttle to the attractions, but we drove so we could be on our own schedule. We would probably stay here again in the off season. We stayed in April 2003. Overrated!!! This campground sounds good on paper, but you do not get what you pay for. We paid $45 a night for 30AMP service E/W/S. I was quoted $38 dollars when I made my reservations and told I had cable TV on my site. Cable is only available on the 50AMP sites and then you only get about 10 channels. The sites are adequate size, but roads are in poor shape and sites are gravel and dust. There is definitely a shortage of bath house facilities. Three bath houses for 175 sites, each with only 3 showers each on mens and womens side. If someone flushes a toilet, hope you do not have the shower water set too warm or you will get scalded. I watched the bath house being cleaned, my 8-year-old could do just as good a job. The entire men's side was mopped with a damp mop and never rinsed. There was dirt all over the floor and now it is damp and spread over the rest of the bath house. KOA needs to take a better look at their affiliation with this campground! Williamsburg is in desperate need of reasonably priced family friendly campground!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed at Colonial KOA last week in July. Found campground to be in good condition. Majority of sites level and in good shape. Did have a runoff problem on a few sites. Only paved roads are main entry roads. Roads to site areas graveled but smooth. Staff had plenty of daily activities for kids and pool was clean. Good location, only 10 mins from BG and WC, and Factory Outlets and Pottery area in Lightfoot. Would go back there if visit area again. Entire family had a good stay. Took 2003 25' Antiqua. We stayed here off season and the saving grace was the quiet and lack of crowds. Given the generally close sites and limited facilities, I'd wager this place would be a nightmare in the busy summer season. Bathrooms were clean, but then again nobody was using them to make them dirty. Game room and laundry were a bit run down. Good and bad. Nice sites, LOTS of trees, clean. Showers and restrooms were clean, but lots of mayflies in the shower. Don't bother you but you have to share the shower with them. There season is short though. Cable TV is a joke, take a dish if you have one and it will work in the trees there. Maybe 9 channels and sound quality so poor on some channels they are useless. C band I think. The pool was cloudy and smelled bad, but perhaps they had just shocked it. Even so, kids were using it. The REC hall had no AC, so was not real usable in the summer heat. The game room is a garage with half the machine broken. Store prices: RV toilet paper is $3 per 4 rolls in our local RV store and the same package was $8 in the campground store. You figure it from there. Shuttle to Colonial Williamsburg, but only twice a day. 9am out and 4:30 back. That leaves out a LOT of what goes on at CW, so if you want to see it all better take a car. Laundry area was nice and usable. Line voltage was a problem in the heat. I watched it dip as low as 100v and the lights surged on and off with other folks AC units. You can buy tickets to CW in the park office, and the sign SAYS you won't have to wait in line at CW visitor center. Not so in our case. LONG Lines to convert those tickets into photo passes. This MAY be because it was the 4th of July. Colonial Williamsburg is a great place to visit, especially for history lovers. First rate and high quality all the way. Their folks/actors are top notch. We camped here in a camper.

Hated it! Roads going in and out of campground are poor at best. Sites are very small! Bathrooms are disgusting, as are the showers! On our loop there were 4 showers, and 3 bathrooms for women and 3 for men. There were about 75 campsites on this loop. You waited forever to take a shower. At one point the toliets were plugged and could not be used. Campground located centrally for attractions, and that's about the only
positive thing I can say. The pool was small, and old. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a camper.

This is an example of a very overrated park. We suppose it is due to a lack of other good parks in the area. We have been paying $42.50 per day for a premium site...the site was dirty, the gravel is old and the roads have major ruts. The cable is "jury rigged" to receive 4 stations, none of which an adult with a thinking mind would want to watch. The final straw today was to return after being gone a mere five hours...no electric and no water (for 42.50!!!) The best of this experience has been the site modem hookup. There have not been any persons over the age of twenty in the office since we began our stay five days ago. This is a pure case of charging what you think the traffic will bear. We camped here in a camper.

I completely agree with the previous reviews, although we never saw one staff person the entire weekend. We got here at night, there were no instructions about what to do, no campground rules given. It was like this park was abandoned! The pool was closed (since it was October) but it was VERY obvious it was really run down. The whole campground was overgrown. Tried to take my daughter to the "park" which consisted of one metal slide. The other "park" we found was two swings that looked like they were going to fall over, and one more metal slide. The whole place was in horrible disrepair. We noticed on the third day that there was/is a putt-putt golf course inside a fence, but it looked like it hadn't been used in about 40 years. There were scraps of what looked like putt-putt grass and concrete, but no way could anyone ever play here. It was a real shame. They have a great location, but it looked like everyone had given up ten years ago. The only evidence that it was still being run/owned by someone, was the electric on our site was turned on! If they would put some money in to this park, it could be nice. We saw two permanent trailers here. They looked as if the health department needed to be called. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The small staff here is wonderful. There is a man and woman who take care of everything here and they seem to do what they can with what they have been given. The owners are doing this place a huge disservice as it has great potential. We never stayed here before, but wanted to try it as other campgrounds were so much more expensive. But you get what you pay for!! The place is run down and overgrown, and the pool was not in good shape at all, as one ladder was broken and had yellow caution tape around it. Bathrooms were clean, I guess, but looked pretty old and gross because I think they can't be cleaned anymore than they were. The biggest concern for us were the other campers. There seemed to be many people who stay there on weekends frequently and were not very nice people to be around. Many teenagers roamed with free rein and were cursing and being rude while I was swimming with my two young children. My kids were upset, but I had to leave the pool after only 30 minutes because of the teens. So the amenities were not even useful to us. Then, there were people who set off fireworks right behind our RV for an hour after dark because we were next to an open field. Guess they figured that meant it was OK for them to do that next to us! If the owners were to put work into this place and beef up security, it could be a great alternative in a quiet, but central location. It is a real shame that this place has become so dilapidated. We will NOT stay again unless something major changes. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We first camped here in the late 80's and had a wonderful time in our little two person tent! The staff was wonderful, the bathrooms were nice and clean and the swimming pool was refreshing and clean. Let's jump forward to 2010. The place looks like it has not had a coat of paint since the late 80's, the children's pool looked like a biohazard, with it's slightly odoriferous milky white water. The upper shower offered cold to almost, but not quite, tepid water. The staff was still friendly, just never present to run the camp store. They weren't loafing; it just seemed everything to do was left to two hardworking men. We had no problem getting a site in the choicest campsites during Memorial Day weekend, and that alone should have clued me in to this disaster of a campground. My guess is the person who ran this campground twenty years ago is no longer taking care of it. Last trip to this one for us. Easily a grade of F, based on cost versus amenities. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park has great potential: unfortunately it's not a priority for the owner. The one employee that we saw works very hard at everything: mows the lawns, tends the office, a regular "Jack of all Trades." He was very pleasant and helpful. We pulled in just after dark and the office was closed. There are no directions posted to where we were to park or if we could park. We talked with a couple of campers and they said to take anything. They also suggested that we check the power at a site before we setup because several didn't work. Just what we wanted to hear after driving 9 hours! Just a note about the Williamsburg Pottery Factory: don't bother! 20 years ago it was a must visit, not any more. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was an okay place to camp. As I understand it, it used to be quite the place to camp. However, the original owner passed away, and the property has been passed down to his children who do very little to care for it. Apparently, it's been for sale for some time. There were very few people camping there. The one staff member that I met was pleasant. The pool is only open 3 days per week which was not mentioned on their website. Unfortunately, even though we stayed during those 3 days, the required life guard was MIA and therefore the pool remained closed. We also used the laundry facilities which were relatively clean but most of the machines were broken. We would probably not stay here again unless nothing else in the area was available. This campground is easy to fall in love with. We stayed for a week and a half (in August 2008 not Jan. 2009 as the website forced me to enter)and got the monthly rate. Made it a launching point for Williamsburg activities including Busch Gardens and Water Country USA(season passes). Very few campers when we were there. Huge pool that was never in use unless it was us. Remote pond for fishing. While I admit there are many uneven sites those are the ones I try to park next to so no one will park next to us. We love this campground and hope the owner does not go through with a proposed sale. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is in extreme need of repair and upgrade. The only things acceptable were water, sewer and electric. Does not appear any money has been spent for repairs or upgrade for fifteen years. Sites were extremely small for a 36 footer with slides on both sides. Sites with 50 amp electric appeared to be about 16x40, insufficient to open the patio awing completely and with slope too much to level the motorhome. Established RV parks in destination cities like Williamsburg, VA have a monopoly and can't be encouraged to do repair or upgrade. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Over Memorial day weekend we stayed with 4 other households one Travel Trailer, one 5th Wheel, and another tent camper and we had a great time. The campground was not full to capacity and we were able to get all of our sites together. The Staff was polite and helpful although the office closes real early and the store does not have much available they're is a Super Wal-Mart Very Close by. The restrooms are somewhat outdated and could really use a face lift but for the most part they were fairly clean although you had numerous insects joining you when you used the facilities. One big disappointment was the pool was suppose to open that weekend and with it being in the high 80's we could have really used the pool. The staff said the person in charge of preparing the pool put the wrong chemicals in the pool so it would have to be drained and would not be open for the whole weekend. We ended up buying a $20.00 blow up pool and put it on our campsite filled it up and let the kids keep cool that way. The staff was understandable about our frustration and said we could either check out early and go somewhere else with a refund of our fees or they would give us a free nights stay. We had a lot of friends with us and decided to stay and had good time and will return since this not only a good place to stay if you are going to Busch Gardens but also as a home base while shopping the outlet stores. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

For our needs, this was a very suitable campground. We need an unobstructed view of the southern sky for our satellite and they had a number of sites with full hook-ups that would accommodate us. This campground is showing its age but if you're self-sufficient and in the area for sightseeing, this campground works well...it's an easy to access the entire area from here. Been here numerous times. The campground is older and could really use a fresh coat of paint. The power was substandard on numerous sites but I must admit the staff was very helpful in ensuring we had clean power and worked on it until it was fixed. The playground equipment is old and outdated. The restrooms could use a fresh coat of paint also although the staff kept them clean. This is not a destination campground but if you are going to Busch Gardens or the Outlet Malls this is a good campground to spend the nights at. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We have (sorry to say) stayed here before and telephoned one week in advance for reservations for two adjoining sites (even selected the site by number). Provided a credit card # to reserve and received a confirmation number. Upon arrival the staff was unable to place us together and did not provide any more help than "just go find two sites and tell us where they are!" The staff including the manager apparently does not have any customer service training and really doesn't care about the campground. She knows that the rigs will continue to come in if even for one night. Dirty restrooms, showers, and unkept grounds. The CG books should re-score this one down to a "2", at least. This campground had a rather high rating in the books. It is actually beginning to be a dump. It needs some TLC and the staff needs an attitude adjustment. The facilities were showing considerable wear and tear and needed to be repaired, fixed up, painted, straightend up or replaced. It is in a nice location area wise but until they take some pride in their campground the owners we continue to see disappointed guests. This is in
an area where campers want to stay for 2, 3, more days in order to enjoy all that that Williamsburg has to offer. This campground is not worth staying at. The positive things we can say are: it was quiet as there were few people there, it had good water pressure and consistant electricity. The sites were reasonably level. We will not be back to this campground. We camped here in a camper.

I think the other reviews pretty accurately describe the campground - it's an older campground that's fairly tight for big rigs (we're just under 59' long bumper to bumper when hitched up). We're here over spring break (lots of MD and VA schools are off- heck, it's why we're here!). The arriving process was a little weird in that you dialed the registration desk and said that you were checking in. She said she would open the gate but didn't give us any directions (e.g., drive forward until you see a small sign for the registration desk). The woman at the front desk was a little scattered, saying that it was especially busy because of spring break. I asked for recommendations for us since we were a big rig and she said we wouldn't like the sites, that they were wooded and pull-throughs but were pretty close to the entrance and highway. She said since it's first come first served, that we could camp there for a night and explore the campground, or drop the camper off and drive around. We're still getting our RV legs about us and hitching/unhitching is still a fair "to do" for us, but I'm really glad that we decided to drop the camper and drive around in just the truck. Back in the back (away from the road noise) we definitely would have been in trouble making some of the maneuvers hitched up! We ended up in their "A" set of campsites on the 4th road in. We *do* hear the highway all of the time but inside the camper it's not enough to keep us awake or anything. The site is just only a little longer than our fifth wheel is, but fairly wide. We've been parking the truck along side of the camper. The hookups for us are pretty centrally located on the site and convenient for water, sewer, and electric. The water pressure is pretty low - seems to run about 30 PSI based on my gauge. I'm using AT&T for phone and Internet (I work from the camper) and it's been sufficient. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice folks and well-kept campground. Lots of trees, so satellite is iffy, but over-the-air channels are adequate. Not much grass because of the trees. A little noisy from I-64, but site selection can minimize or eliminate this issue. Good 4G coverage from Verizon Wireless. Not a nice place to be during heavy rain due to poorly managed runoff, but campground drains quickly when the rain stops. Very dark at night, and flashlights are definitely necessary when walking after dark. We'll repeat, but only when the forecast is for clear weather. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Rate for TTN. A campground not far from I-64 exit 231A but traffic noise not an issue. The campground is well located for access to the Historic Triangle, Jamestown, Yorktown & Williamsburg. Be sure to drive the Colonial Parkway which connects the three Historic towns. We rate this campground a little lower because we experienced flooding while here, during several severe storms. What was not obvious when we set up became obvious in heavy rain, and we had four days where it rained buckets, not constantly, but lots of rain quick. Our site B42, plus B41& B43, were in the main stream for run-off and more than once we had 2-3 inches of rainwater coursing through our sites covering everything on the ground. Once the rain stopped it didn't take long for the water to drain away. Staff here was very helpful and friendly, and they kept the amenities in good repair. We lost power our 2nd night, but the maintenance crew had it restored in less than an hour. The crew came around to make sure everyone had power back. The campground is very tight, and the roads narrow. From the entrance gate one must follow the little white arrows down the road to the office for check-in. There is little room to drive a big rig, or longer rig, through the maze of narrow roads. We were sent out, fifth wheel in tow, to find a site that suited our needs. No staff golf cart was offered to look for a spot to set up. This is a family oriented campground and is conveniently located. The 4th of July weekend was crazy here, but it was fun. The campground was packed and busy, but everything went smoothly. The outdoor and indoor pools and spa were spotless. The laundry room was clean and has four sets of machines. Some of the campground buildings are in need of maintenance/repair, and the roads need work. Mature trees line the roads and sites so you need to chose wisely. This was a fairly pleasant experience, in spite of wet feet, and we will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very wooded campground, maintenance trimmed an overhead tree so our rooftop dish worked most of the time. Roads are narrow and twisty but we had no trouble carefully maneuvering. The entrance is gated so you have to use an intercom to gain entrance the first time and follow arrows quite a distance to the interior office. You leave your RV parked in the road so you can walk (or drive a toad if you have a MH) through the place to find a site. Office advised us not to drive larger RVs around looking for a site. No golf cart to use to do this. If you want WiFi it's an additional charge. Sprint cell phone and internet access worked OK. Our site was level and large, whole CG has lots and lots of trees so very little grass grows. Only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Fair amount of road noise from I-64. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We chose this thanks to Passport America rate offered (19.50 +3 +tax), and were quite happy. Visited with our family of 9 on a 12 month US tour (ourBigtrip.us) and really liked the trees! I wouldn't recommend coming in after dark, the trees are right at the road edge, and maneuvering is tight. The inside pool was open, and very clean as was the spa, the showers and RR were spotless and hot water was appreciated. We'd visit again, and appreciated the kind staff. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were pleasantly surprised with this campground. On first sight, we thought it seemed a bit outdated and cramped. Once we settled in and spent time there, we found out what a beautiful park it was. This was the first and will be the last time we stay. As far as the activities at night (they had a DJ) that was nice. But with all 1000 Trail Campgrounds you pick your own site, after you drive around looking. That would be nice if you had a towed vehicle or golfcart (we don't). So my wife and daughter drove down a few hours before I left northern VA to get a site. My wife was given a hard time because our RV wasn't there at the time of her arrival. They finally did allow her to do this, after a indepth discussion and threats to go to the local KOA to camp. The site was very shaded and close to the office and pool. The hook ups were on the opposite end of our motorhome: front verses the back. If we were to turn the motorhome around, they would have been on the wrong side and our fire pit and picnic table would have been on the wrong side. The road getting to the site was pretty tight but not too bad (for me anyway). We did have a noisy neighbor (blasting their music from the open doors on their truck.) The staff drove past them several times but didn't say anything until someone said something to the office. The 1000 Trail campground system of finding your own site is ok, if you are retired and can show up to the campgrounds on either Wednesdays or Thursdays before the normal weekenders show up. So for us, the normal weekenders, it doesn't work. Would we stay there again? No. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We joined Thousand Trails this past summer, and Outdoor World is part of our contract. We drove over to see this campground shortly after joining TT, and at first we were not impressed. At first glance the sites seemed tight and uneven. The campground is obviously an older one, built before today's "big rigs". We decided to give it a try while visiting Colonial Williamsburg, and I have to admit, we were pleasantly surprised once we were set up. You get to pick your own site, and then tell the office staff where you are. There were several level sites that were long enough to choose from. The staff was super friendly right from the beginning. Cell service (AT&T) was excellent, and Wi-Fi was available for $5/day or $15/week. Since it was a Halloween Weekend, there were a lot of activities planned. All common areas were neat and clean. Our only complaints are: water pressure drops on occasion, and the location of some of the trees in/near campsites can make maneuvering tricky. We were very happy, and will definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We are Thousand Trails members so it was "free" for us to stay here. This is a very old park with very narrow streets and mostly uneven, small sites. There are more tall trees here than we have seen in one place in years. Don't come here expecting to use your satellite TV. You might find a site with a view of the southern sky, but don't count on it. They do have Wi-Fi at $15.00 per week. The staff was as friendly and helpful as any place we have ever stayed. This is a family campground and there are lots of things to keep kids entertained while they are here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a membership campground, however they will let you "try it" a time or two w/o becoming members. The campground was clean, hook-ups good, roads nicely paved, however narrow, I had a difficult time on some of the curves (36' 5er). Shaded, most of the sites are pretty level. This is an older campground, the sites appear to be not planned out real well. We were told to pick out a site and let them know where we were. We did find a nice end plot. A majority of the sites are permanent "cabins". There was a little highway noise, a few sirens but pretty quiet overall. We would come back if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground just off I-64 and Route 30 with good entry roads. Sites are fairly level side to side, but many on hilly terrain. Hookups are easily accessible - most sites are full hookup. I chose a handicapped site across from the office/store/pool and was very pleased. Indoor pool was fabulous, the spa very relaxing, showers/bathrooms spotless, laundry clean and well cared for ($1.25 wash/$1.25 40 min. dry), member lounge was clean, nice and good library. Game room with lots of pool tables and working games, mini golf well cared for. A little road noise from I-65 and Route 30, but, no train noise as with other area campgrounds. You could hear the train whistle in the distance if you were listening for it. A Wal-Mart supercenter a few miles away, and several Food Lion grocery stores. Most eateries/attractions along Route 60 and within an easy drive. Very nice stay, friendly and helpful personnel. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
