Campground appears to cater to families, yet they do very little to stop people from partying late at night. Sites are very small and difficult to get in and out of...even the pull through sites. You do not want to be here if it rains, as the whole campground turns into a muddy mess. Sites are just dirt and pine needles. No TV reception at all. Very overpriced for what you get and they charge for any extra activities. We will go out of our way to not stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate includes 3 kids: $4 extra per day per kid. We stayed at 5 KOA's this trip and this was the most expensive. We arrived on a Sunday and this place was crazy busy. Cars everywhere and no where for us to park so we could register. I don't think I would have enjoyed the weekend here as so many people. Not just campers but the waterslide is open to the public so makes for chaos. Laundry facilities are old but clean. Restrooms were not clean on Sunday but better on Monday. Pool is nice and included in price, all other activities have an extra cost. Very little grass so very dusty and dirty but nice pine trees everywhere. Request a site away from the road due to noise. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This Park is situated in the middle of a pine forest. The trees, all about 40 feet high, line all the interior roads and sites. Accessing satellite service is impossible. Also, there is no cable TV service and antenna service is limited. Being able to maneuver a big rig in this Park is very precarious and will take some extra positioning to get around the trees. All the sites, with exception of a few premium sites, are on dirt. The Park has some activities for kids and we understand they are packed on weekends. I would consider this Park to be very over-priced. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I appreciate the pride taken and hard work put into this campground. There can be lots of customers in the office buying snacks, coffee, bike rides, canoe trips, checking in, but the ladies in the office are extremely friendly and efficient. Our site needed some leveling. We were here when it rained and it was a mess! Dirt and tree parts were everywhere as there's not much grass here. (The ground here is mainly dirt and pine needles as there are tall pines everywhere.) Our site number 7 had good WiFi reception and one TV channel came in through our antenna. The bathrooms were clean (other than after the rain). There are lots of family-oriented activities with a little extra on the weekends. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Arrived on Friday to a PACKED campground. People everywhere, pool packed, park packed, sites INSANELY close together. Price was the most we've paid in the 5 years we've been travel trailer and RV'ing. EVERYTHING but the park and pool were extra charges (mini golf, jumping pillow, tubing, water slide and special bikes people rode around). Dusty, sandy (little grass) and even the front staff didn't greet us warmly or explain our location, just handed us a map and price list and sent us on our way (makes sense as the line was long because so many people were waiting to pay for all of the 'extra' services. Tubing was a nice ride, but $9! Check out seems VERY early in our 5 years of camping at 12:30. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were here on the busy memorial weekend. We liked this campground but for the fact it is a campground which encourages ATVs and their use. I believe there were more ATVs than campers here. One campsite had 10 ATVs crammed in their site. ATVs were driven all over and at all times of the day and night. Midnight even. The staff was as nice as could be for the work they had with a crowded park. Beautiful tall pine trees are everywhere. In fact, when we were feeling overwhelmed by the crowding of campers and people, we looked up at the peacefulness of the tall trees swaying overhead. That was the only thing that made us feel we were not camping in a parking lot. Noise - not quiet. Maybe this was due to busy and crowded weekend, but partying campers didn't quiet down at 11. Don't count on checking your email if you are not close to the office. We couldn't get Internet at site 86. We took a canoe trip (Scheduled through this KOA) to get away from the crowd. If you don't mind dodging fallen trees for the half of the trip, dragging on the rocks a few times due to low water, you might enjoy it. Good thing about this park is that there are a lot of things for the kids to do. (Bring extra cash for ice cream social, bikes, mini golf, water slide) We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We had a full hookup site right next to the office/pool/mini golf. This is a busy place with lots to do! The sites are nice and level and easy to get in and out of. The campground has beautiful trees towering over everyone. Well lit at night. We didn't have a problem with bugs. We participated in the tractor ride and bought the ice cream at their ice cream social and swam in the pool. The kids loved the 8 foot deep pool. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Access to canoeing and tubing is available at this campground. We canoed and were transported to our drop off area by a very friendly staff person who told us of the area and gave us some neat insite on hayward. Great area for touring. We plan to stay at this campground again! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This place had something for everyone. Pool, tubing, waterslide, hayrides and several other activities. This place was packed when we were there and the restrooms were still very clean and well maintained. Great little town with all kinds of things to do, but you never really have to leave the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a fantastic experience. We camped right on the lake and could park our rented pontoon boat about 100 ft away. We had a wonderful site overlooking the lake. Although there was rain our site was never muddy. They had this wonderful service where they would come and empty your sewer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for $5. The ice cream was great and we could walk to this great little restaurant across the road. The foliage is wonderful with lots of birds and great sunsets. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend. Very kid and pet friendly. Very relaxed and customer oriented. Love it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Fisherman's paradise. As quoted from the back of their map, "Camping is an outdoor experience. Therefore, we do not give refunds due to the discomforts of nature or if you leave early." From our site 451 we had a view of the lake and we were nestled in the trees. Water/electric were accessible, our site was level. Signage in the campground was lacking as it was confusing to find the beach, docks, bait shop, bathrooms and our campsite. The roads felt very narrow (and dangerous) because of trees close to road, boat trailers (they were parked everywhere), pedestrians, golf carts, kids on bikes flying out of loops and campground sites. Bathrooms were clean with pay showers. Beach was small, but fun; playground was modern. Very spread out campground so golf carts are available to rent ($10 an hour). Can also rent hydro bikes, kayaks, canoes, fishing boats, pontoons. Wireless internet was $7.95 for a day, $13.95 2 days, $21.95 a week! If you like to fish or boat on the lake, this is the campground for you. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We arrived at this campground after light snow had come down. We were in site BC near the lake and got satellite TV and had 50 amp service but the water had been shut off with the cold temperatures. This campground is about 18 miles from the city of Hayward. We put our kayaks in the lake which was only 100 feet from the motorhome. Paddling here was excellent with lots of options. We could not get Verizon wireless from here. During warmer climate full hookups are available in some sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed in a park model. The campground was clean. The office was helpful and had normal necessary supplies. The lake was chilly but my children loved the floater offered. We say loons, dozens of chipmunks, and ducks. The playground was nice. Rentals (bikes, carts, etc) were reasonably priced. Many sites are very very woodsy. We didn't have any trouble with bugs as it was too cold. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
If you want to "get away from it all" then this is the place for you. We would have preferred having some connection to the outside world... via a cell phone or internet connection, or even a TV station...but it wasn't to be. The lodge was great, they had much to offer in terms of their camp store and cafe, but anything substantial in terms of shopping you must drive 15-20 minutes to Hayward. Our camping neighbor paid for the cg's Wi-Fi but it didn't work on their site. We rented a boat from the resort and it was great. It was neat being able to dock right up on our site...we enjoyed the campground, just wish it was a little closer to home and had a few "outside world" amenities. But it's definitely a break from reality. The staff was excellent - esp. Bob and Owen who were lifesavers because we were unable to back our 37' trailer into our site, narrow roads and overhanging branches and whatnot-they were a big help. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice CG. Quite large, but not crowded. Our pull through site was well kept and plenty large for our TT and PU. Only negative would be the pullout required a very tight turn. We barely made it. Backing out would have been easier and there was plenty of room. Grounds were very neat and clean. The beach and dock area was very well designed and well kept. We'll go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is wonderful. The grounds are well maintained. The lodge has great games for the kids along with an ice cream stand. The playground was large and seemed to be nearly new. There was also volleyball, basketball, hourseshoes, and mini golf. There were large bikes that could ride 3-9 people. The beach also had small boats for rent for the kids. All at reasonable costs. They had curbside pick up for garbage twice a day and also deliveried wood daily to your site. There were plenty of boat slips with easy access to the lake. On a sunset drive around the lake one night we saw a bald eagle. One morning while making breakfast we saw a small bear. They also have a great option for friends or relatives who don't own an RV. They have fifth wheel campers and travel trailers to rent. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
You have to go to the Lodge to check in which is as far away from the campground as you can get. The campground is down the road from the casino. The sites are in a very tree filled area making it very difficult to back in a big rig. The sites are not very wide making it a very tight fit with slides. The nightly price is very reasonable and the weekly rate of $45 is even better. But, with no satellite and the limited access and size of the site we had to cancel our reservation and find another campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice campground in the forest. Lots of trees and shade. We had a very large site, just a 2 minute walk to the water. Lots of seasonals but the sites were well kept and the people were friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great location, open field with few other RV's, easy to maneuver, TV reception was poor, internet was non-existent, but folks running the place were nice. Overall, accurately advertised, clean, just wish TV and internet were better. Definitely not too crowded. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What others have written is on the mark, no amenities and no roads within the park. Yet, we all have different requirements for what makes us happy in a park. This one was level, albeit on grass, still more level than others we've been in; very large and spacious sites and the owners are extremely helpful, friendly and considerate. The lack of pool, restrooms, Wi-Fi and cable is not what entices us to stay in a park - we don't use any of them. The only ding and why the "9" is due to moderate road noise and facing the road - other than that; we love it here, would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to friends we know that have the same interests in what makes them happy in a park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The rating of 8 is only because of the lack of common amenities. No bathrooms, no showers, no swimming pool, no meeting room, but not taking those into consideration I would rate it a 10. As other reviewers have described is accurate. The owners are wonderful people who have taken a hay field and turned it into a wonderful place to stop and spend the night, a few days, or a week. Someone has stated that it has 24 sites, that would include tent and cabin sites. There are no cabins, but there are acres of land that can be used for tenting. There are port-a-potties for tenting people. Well water is abundant and the pressure is excellent. The RV spaces are spaced evenly and they are far apart, five to a row. I counted 15 RV spots. All are full hook-up and pull through, level grass sites. We would definitely consider staying here if traveling in this area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a small, clean V park. Convenient if traveling between the UP of Michigan and Minnesota. The owners could not have been more helpful. The lack of wireless, cable TV and common bathrooms/showers, did not detract from this campground. Open field area with grass site. Although close to Route 63, we barely heard any traffic. RVers will not be disappointed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground was just perfect for us. The rate reflects a weekly rate. The park is close to the City of Hayward and Spooner with lots to see and do. It is exactly as the other reviews say it is. We had a nice level lot, lots of space between rigs, and great satellite reception. I can't say enough about how wonderful the owners are. They came over to the rig to let us know about community activities and also to bring us some vegetables they had to pick as the weather was getting too cold to leave them on the vine. Also, not mentioned in the other reviews, is the fact that they offer free wood for campfires. We loved this campground and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As mentioned, this park is located in an open area and you park on the grass. We were worried about soft ground should there be rain, but that was not a problem as the soil is sandy and the park shows no evidence of ruts from prior users. Satellite reception is super as you are in an open area. There is a train track adjacent to the park, but in three days we never saw a train (it is a branch line.) The owners are on site and are very friendly and helpful. They have a small park model which serves as an office and they are usually there, although they live in the farm house a few yards away. If you want a lot of services, this is not the place, but it is a great park nontheless. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very quiet, peaceful RV park with friendly owners. There are no trees, therefore no shade, but there was a nice breeze blowing most of the time. We prefer to use our own facilities so the lack of restrooms/showers was not a problem for us. Most of the campgrounds in this area have a lot of trees with very tight maneuvering. This park is truly big rig friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is basically a big grassy field with hookups placed throughout. Sites and drives are all grass, no gravel or pavement. No restrooms or showers (actually, there are three portable toilets by the tenting area). No shade in park. There is a small lake you can fish in (we didn't) and some hiking/walking areas around behind the lake. There is no Wi-Fi. We stayed for one night. Overall, it is a nice place to stop for the night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
