It is a very nice campground. It is hard to get into electric sites unless you come early in the week Tues/Wed. Reservations can be made but far, far in advance! The beach is beautiful and the road is nicely paved which is great for bike riding! This campground would benefit from a playground for the kids! This is one of our favorites! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Boulder Lake, one of many campgrounds in the Nicolet National Forest, is a true gem. The sites are very spacious and level. The bathroom and shower buildings are new and very clean. This is the only Nicolet National Forest campground with electric sites, but you are allowed to use a generator if you have site without electricty. There are no water hookups, but many places throughout the park to get water. There are several large group sites in a separate area if you have a big group to camp with. There is no playground, but there are hiking and mountain biking trails and a nice beach. There is a boat landing as well, and good fishing on the lake. If you are looking for game rooms and camp stores, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for beautiful natural scenery in a clean, well laid-out campground, this is the place for you. Heaven's Up North Family Campground is a great little campground. It's been open since 1995 and it is a typical up-north Wisconsin campground. It's located around many great fishing lakes and is in the heart of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The Wolf & Pestiago Rivers are close by which offers the opportunity for some great white water rafting and rubber inner-tube rafting. The campground itself is heavily wooded with rolling hills throughout. In my opinion big rigs, units over 32 feet long, would have trouble moving around this campground. The roads are that tight. The sites themselves are large enough for comfort and they all have fire rings and picnic tables at every site. Unfortunately the weekend we were there it rained buckets the whole time so we didn't get much opportunity to explore the campground. We did stop into the main lodge and met the campground hosts who were very friendly. Inside the lodge they have a few video type games for the kids but not much in reference to camping supplies. Their web page is unique as you can actually see the site you might want to reserve. This is a great feature in my opinion...My wife and I normally don't go back to the same campground twice because there are so many different ones to pick from but we already agreed to visit Heaven's Up North Campground again. It one of the most beautiful campground we've seen in some time. Once you get settled in and you're looking for a great place to eat jump on Hwy. 34 and head about five miles north of Lakewood to a wide spot in the road called Townsend. Upon your arrival look for a restaurant on your left called M.J. Beans Casual Dining. We went there and were blown away by the great food and service. For a casual dining place they really got their act together. I had a huge Rib Eye steak that was done to perfection. I ordered it with sauteed mushrooms and it came with a large bowl of delicious, prepared to perfection ones. The wife had a shrimp stir fry what was also done to perfection. They also offer a great salad bar and was full of very fresh greenery and homemade dishes. Anyway back to the campground. We highly recommend this campground but only if you have a unit under 32 feet or so. Happy camping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
