We didn't get the chance to actually camp here. We made our reservation 3 weeks in advance. Once we arrived, we checked in and drove to our site. When someone else (and their camper) was on our site, we got out to discuss it with that individual. He informed us that the resort had double booked several sites - including ours. In looking at the small site (which was in a very unpleasant part of the campground - picture overflowing trash bins aplenty), and seeing that out 34' 5th wheel would never fit along with the other camper - we called the office. The young girl said she would send someone over to discussit - she said yes it is a double site for this weekend. No one from the office ever came over. None of the maps showed this as a double site. We started asking some of the other campers in the vicinity of our site - they were all angry - and said "welcome to h***". Well that was all we needed we hopped in our truck and headed back to the office. We asked for our money back, the office manager hesitated - we persisted and pointed out that there was no way both RV's would fit on the site. He relented and gave us a refund. I also asked for our gas money back (a cool $100 for our diesel truck one way) - no surprise "no can do." So he wished us on our way back home with steam coming out of his ears. Although we were mad at this scenario - we were VERY thankful we did not stay. From the time we pulled up - it looked like a real run down, unorganized, swampy, buggy, over-loaded trash bin kind of place. I had heard they had sewage issues - and by the looks of it - indeed they had a LOT of problems. I would not recommend to my worst enemy to stay in this h*** hole. We selected this campground because of the atractive ad in the WI camping magazine - this place is NOTHING like the ad - STAY AWAY! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park was clean and the lake was very pretty. The park needs a lot of work the last owners ran it in to the ground. The new owners are trying to bring it back to what it was. We stayed at the hanger site #3 it was OK when we got there on Thursday but by Friday they backed so many big 5th wheels and big pull along that my 31 foot motorhome looked small and the only view I saw was the peoples slide out next to me. This was a waste of a 4 hour drive and gas. I booked this park due to a buy one night get one free. Next time I will never book a park without checking this review site. We will not be going back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We just got home from camping here for the 4th of July weekend. Was one of our favorite campgrounds before but had not been here for two years. We will never go back! This place is a mess and in a complete state of disrepair. I know they have gone through severe flooding from the lake and had to do bank raising on the lake to keep the water out but that is all they have been doing. Bathrooms were a mess, missing locks on doors. Dump Station was plugged up when we left so they had to use the truck to pump us out. We had serious issues with the rest of the neighbors in the pool site area since they were obviously a big group. Would not share the large group fire pit with our group which occupied 3 sites. Never have I ever encountered such disrespectful campers. Their many dogs were running loose all the time chasing people down the road while ours stayed tied up and well behaved. We asked to change two of our three sites with a couple of their open ones and they wouldn't agree. Talked to managers right away about our issues and they didn't seem to give two hoots about us. They got obviously agitated at the fact that we wanted to switch two of our sites with two of theirs so we weren't walking back and forth through the other large groups. We ended up staying all on our original sites because lake of management cooperation. Lake was very chilly and pool was an ice box. Not enough staff for the busy holiday weekend. Tons of illegal fireworks done by the seasonals over the lake. They let the seasonals get away with murder here. Talked to some other people that we knew that were there in a rental trailer and they too said that this was their 5th year and will never return either. Lake has been no wake for a long time now and didn't call till the day before we left to tell us that if we were bringing a boat so no tubing or skiing. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Our worst camping experience by a mile in 10 years. Never have encountered such rude and insensitive campers in over 10 years of camping. This place doesn't even deserve a rating of a one. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It was OK, the lake was great / nice sandy beach, and nice kiddy pool and adult pool. But the camp sites I think were much to be desired , you basically park in a field. The bathroom was a port a potty! Not a family friendly park there was a bar on the grounds and people drank and partied all night long. I do not think we would go back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here Memorial Day weekend, 2009. This campground was a huge disappointment. We were in what they call a "hangar site" - literally next to an airplane hanger. For the duration of our stay, we were surrounded by noise and dust from construction equipment hauling gravel. When they were not pushing gravel, the 2 bobcat frontloaders were left running idle in what was supposed to be our parking spot. The pool was not operational. At one point the truck hauling sewage lost it's load in the parking lot by our site and no cleanup was performed. No rules were enforced and the noise from what were obviously drunken parties ended after 3am. This campground appears to cater primarily to seasonal campers. By Monday, we could not stand it any longer and left. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

My family had a great time in the pool area! The campground it way to congested though. The overnight sites are right on top of each other. I did not agree with smoking being allowed inside the pool area. There is live entertainment on the weekends too, which is nice, but it was "adults only". I did not agree with this either. Camping is a family experience and no one should be excluded. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Unbelievably small spaces. It was difficult to back our tent trailer into the space. I can't even describe how close we were to other campers. We could hear everything they were doing or saying in their tents and tent trailers. Quiet time isn't until 12:00 am - it stayed very active until then. Between golf carts zooming around and horns beeping, getting to sleep was extremely difficult. We weren't allowed to keep our vehicle near our site, we had to park it in a lot. Our space was gravel and mud - no grass. We weren't able to use our fire pit, as it was filled with water from the previous rain. I agree with a past review that they cater to the seasonals. We would have left after seeing the tight spaces, but we had to prepay for our reservation - and they don't give refunds. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Camped here with friends over a weekend. The campground seems to cater mostly to seasonal campers. Transient campers are placed far away from the beach and main areas. There were no shaded sites. It was very crowded on the weekend we stayed. The nice thing is the shower room was like bathroom in your home. Good campsite if your with a group or if you have children. My wife and I wouldn't camp here to relax or enjoy quiet time. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We stayed for 9 days camping. We would not have stayed that long but we had to prepay for the site. You cannot pay when you check in. You pay in full when making the reservations. The problem was during the day on weekdays, they run a daycamp. My children were not allowed to use the water toys or pool from 7am until 5pm. Then when the weekend came and the 100's of kids were gone, they removed most of the toys for the weekend crowds. We were very disappointed because the only reason why we came here was because of all the water activities advertised. However, we did enjoy the winery down the road! Very, Very, Very crowded. Our neighbor behind us...well their bunk of their pop up was up against ours and our neigbors awning was touching the back of our pop up and we heard their private conversations along with us having to keep curtains closed for our privacy. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We had a great time camping here. The sandy swimming beach is well maintained. In the swimming area are numerous large inflateable toys to climb on and dive off. Children's movies are shown on Friday and Saturday nights. In addition to the typical bikes and boats to rent, the campground offers a variety of unusual bikes and paddleboats. The grounds are well maintained and the bathrooms are pleasant and clean. The "valley sites" are small, gravel and unpleasant. The remaining sites in the campground are very nice. The rate for 2003 is high in comparison to similar campgrounds at
$34.95 per night for W/E. Even though we had a wonderful time, it's possibly too pricey for us to return. We camped here in a Tent.
Nice family campground. Many of the sites appeared to be seasonal with big, wooden decks. Lots of children and things for them to do. Bathrooms were individual with shower, toilet and sink in one private room. Showers are coin fed. The Wi-Fi was working well. We were not able to get any over-the-air TV channels and the VZW signal was barely there and 1X. There is a pavilion with a TV that gets DirecTV. Prices were $50 for back in and $60 for pull through. There are no sewers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy to find campground right off the interstate. Lots of things for the kids to do. Very pricey on the for bikes, mini golf and jumping pillow. Nice swimming pond with sand beach and inflatable slidesthat are free and guaranteed to provide hours of fun. Planned activities and crafts that cost a couple of bucks. Our kids loved the glow stick parade, the wagon ride, giant shopping cart ride. Lots of seasonal sites as well. Black top roads. No sewer hook ups, but easy to use dump station. We stayed in a VIP site with a cement pad, picnic table with umbrella and grill. Very nice and level but it would have been nicer if they had sewer for the price they charge. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We gave this a "1" rating only because "0" is not an option. Without a doubt, one of the most disappointing campground experiences we've had in years. This is in no way "big rig friendly". We had to disconnect our car in order to get our 40' motorhome around the tight corners. Our site was not even close to level and required a veritable lumber yard to safely level our rig. The park is a destination with many weekending families. Unsupervised kids are everywhere, even driving golf carts and all sorts of other conveyances with little regard to pedestrian safety. During the weekdays they run a day camp so there is little respite from the noise. Positives? The owner personally replaced our faulty 30-amp circuit breaker. The laundry is fine. This is a "we'll never stay here again" park for us. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here right before the season opened up. The park is definitely family friendly. When we drove up, it looked like we were in an amusement park! The kids were very excited. The park was very large, and there are areas to camp away from the amusement park area. Some of the tent sites had a good "forest" feel to them. Because it was off-season, the campground employees were getting all the equipment ready and cleaned. The manager and owner were both onsite and were friendly. They let the kids ride the bikes/trikes free of charge. The campground has something similar to a swimming pool (it looks like a beach) that is heated. It was pretty neat looking. On the downside, you had to pay to use the showers (something like 25 cents for 5 minutes). My husband was the only one to use the shower because he said it was ice-cold. I'm not sure if they didn't have the water heater turned on for the season or what, but the rest of us decided not to use the showers. There is a single shower in the bathroom, and towards the back of the park, there are individual unisex bathhouses. Our rate was $33 off season for W/E. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Not only is this park open all year for the die hard traveler, it is a very busy family park in the summer. If you have kids or love kids this is the place to stay. The owner had every kind of entertainment possible for kids of all ages. There is skyball, mini golf, bicycles, a huge bounce pillow, a HUGE shopping cart with a V8 that you can ride in as well as a Cinderella Pumpkin. He is adding a hydraulic "pimp" mobile to pull the pumpkin for this year. There are yurts, cabins, covered wagons, RV sites, tent sites, seasonal sites and a kids cottage that can be rented for the kids to stay in that is equipped with a TV, video game and place to sleep. The pond has an inflatable water playground and there is even what looks like an old fashioned carnival ride that has been converted into an outdoor movie theater complete with a 50" TV. This is truly a "campground amusement park." We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms and showers cleanest I have ever seen. Great place for the kids with so much for them to do. Beautiful park, great place to take the family. We camped here in a Tent.

If you like being treated like a second class citizen for using your Passport America card, this may be the perfect place for you. Our initial assigned site was so obviously out of level to the eye, we asked for another specific one. They said that one was taken and gave us a different one. That was equally out of level and 20 lego blocks could not rectify the problem. Also the Wi-Fi did not work at all at this location. Note that these electric and water sites go for $39 a night if you're not a PA member. We were begrudgingly given another site, and managed to get nearly level using all of our lego blocks. The Wi-Fi barely worked at this location. Unless they came late and left early, it appeared that no one showed up at the site we asked for that was supposedly taken. Additionally, if you like the sound of many kids screaming with glee at the various play activities (there is a day camp facility at the campground) then this could be the perfect place for you. We prefer a quieter environment, but that is not the campground's fault. Although the park has well over 200 sites, most of them are seasonal sites. There are about 60 identified as overnight sites, very few of which were occupied but were not offered to us. There is a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. We were very disappointed at the treatment we received and would not stay at this place again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I would have rated this park higher: but I give the park an average rating. The reason was the park has been rated with sewer hook-ups and we had a VIP pull-through site with no sewer hook-up. Come to find out: the park feels that the dump station is the sewer hook-up. Another issue is the chrildren that have the run of the park with total disregard of vehicles and campers. They (the kids) own the road: too many golf carts driving around, no one walks any more. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park workers stated they were not officially open but there were other overnighters and a few permanents using the grounds. We used Passport America. The ratings were low because the free wifi did not work unless you moved to an outside table; laundry was closed; bathroom smelled and was not clean; staff was not friendly; and tree branches were in desparate need of cutting as we scratched our motorhome exiting the park. The other thing which bugged me was having to pay for the showers, which we declined at $.25 for a small amount of minutes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here for Labor Day weekend, I was very impressed with this place. There is more to do here than time allows!! their web site tells a lot about that. Very family structured and well maintained park. I very rarely give a 10 but honestly, there was nothing negitive I could find regarding Smokey Hollow. Yes it was crowded (Holiday Weekend) but no waiting for anything! Staff was excellent, a real class act! Staff even left at each campsite, a DVD of the weekend festivities. pic's and video clips for the guests upon departure. SOMETHING OTHER CAMPGROUND NEVER DO. pleasing the guest is paramount in this park!!!! As for the seasonals, they are mostly in the back area of the park. easy walk from campsites to the facilities. Smokey Hollow highly recommended!! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Nice campground. I did question the ability to be able to level on some of the sites. A lot of seasonal sites. Most looked ok. New looking man made "pond" was great! All kinds of float toys for the kids and beach all the way around it! Hosts were nice, well stocked store, ice cream and a little snack bar - great fish or shrimp dinner on Friday night! Free "hay rides" no hay though... Playground equipment was a little dated. Free movie Saturday night. We went the weekend after Memorial day so it was a little quieter. We'll go back again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Pretty campground. The "new" owners are putting a lot of money and effort into this place. When we camped there last summer, they were just finishing up a large, man-made swimming hole and beach, and it was looking terrific. Well maintained park. It does seem that there is really close group of seasonal campers, but we were happy to see that their sites were for the most part, beautifully maintained, these seasonal campers take great pride in their sites. Nice play area, although they could use some more modern equipment. Some of the play things were broken. This is not a campground for those who want to stay up late and party around a campfire. It gets quiet early here, which we liked. We did build our fires and stay up chatting, and it was nice to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

After checking in large signs directed us to the pull through across easy campground roads. This campground caters to seasonals. Sewer hookups were not available on site but a campground dumpstation was available. Restrooms clean although my wife smelled sewage in ladies restroom. 30 amp power at sites. Friendly helpfull staff. I would go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
