Of the 3 parks here in Whitehorse, we liked this one the best. The water pressure is a little high, and you have to use a dump station but the sites are mostly shaded, our party (3 rigs) was able to get all our rigs in, including a 40 footer. The camp has a Swiss flavor (the manager and staff all seem to be swiss) and many of the guests are European. The facilities are mostly spotless, the wifi is good from the center, and the laundry is $2. They allow clothes lines so we air dried our as the dryers are $3 for 50 minutes. There is a Swiss restaurant on site that serves authentic schnitzel and yagersschnitzel. Compared to many of the places we have stayed recently, this is one of the better ones. They seem to adjust their rates according to demand, or perhaps because demand is down here, they have reduced them. We paid considerably less than the posted price. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a nice park for the area, and the owners are extremely friendly, but they are new to the business. The trees have overgrown and need to be cut back (you big rigs will touch some leaves -- now whether it does damage or not depends on your driving skill), also we saw a motorhome sink into the ground. They opened early for the season and obviously were not prepared. Maybe if you go in july or august they will cut back the trees and work out the "bugs". The location is far from town, but if you want a place to camp, it has a good atmosphere. The owners are truly excellent, though, and I think you should ignore this review come the 2010 season We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice campground with nicely separated spots within the trees. There are tee-pees for rent and they have an excellent restaurant. Very friendly owners. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice campground and very friendly staff. Sites are gravel and level. Easy access throughout the park. Cable TV is limited to 4 channels. Full private bathrooms with shower, sink, and commode are clean and modern. Will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice back in sites. Pull thru are are not wooded. Showers are free and very clean. Owners are friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We had stayed here in 1998 and after staying at Pioneer in 2001 felt this park was the best choice so made a reservation requesting an easy in and out site for our 33 foot 5th wheel. We were given site 88 which was not only about 70 feet long there was a lot of room between us and the next RV and very easy to get in and out of. The Wi-Fi worked well from our site and we had no trouble with its speed. There is cable and it provides lots of stations. The park has lots of trees and the interior gravel roads are well maintained. The only problem we had was with the water hookup which leaked because the hose bib was to close to the handle. The laundry was clean but pricey at $3 per wash load and $1.25 for 25 minutes on the dryer. The park was filled each night and for those wanting to stay here a reservation is a good idea. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here on the way up to Alaska and liked it so much that we stayed here on the way back. The laundry was clean and all of the machines worked. The showers were free, clean, and each one had a lockable bar door and a bench. The staff was very friendly! The only reason that I did not give them a 10 is that the wifi only worked near the office and the toilet did not have papers. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This has the most appeal in Whitehorse. It has trees and the sites are a good size. The buildings/restrooms/laundry are immaculate. Wi-Fi is available but is sometimes slow and spotty depending where you are parked. You might have to take your computer into the office. There are also modem hookups and a computer to use for a fee. The big downside to this park is the dust. We were parked by the office where everyone leaves and comes in. A "SLOW DOWN" sign or two might help. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the better northern parks that we stayed in. Sites are still tight, but there was some room between them providing a buffer zone. Probably the best park in the area and close to full when we stopped. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the best campgrounds on the Alaska Highway. If your staying in Whitehorse, this is the place. From the nice office and staff to lots of trees all over the campground. There are even old construction trucks from the 1940's here. Everything is great here. Make reservations as this place can sell-out. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park New Wi-Fi installed but still limited but owner was walking around and talking to campers to see what areas had service. It has a pay as you go power RV wash. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice campground. Sites are adequate size, but not oversized. Wifi only reaches a few sites, but is available at office/laundries. Owner is hoping to upgrade it this summer to make it more stable and reach a few more sites. We were happy with it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for 3 days in July and 3 days in late August both on our way to and back from Alaska. The grounds were always nice and clean and sites were large enough for our long 5th wheel. The staff were friendly enough but not overly so. It is in a great location for town and all you need to get to. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We were in a caravan with 26 other big rigs - all fit in. Nice people. Clean facilities. Good laundry. Free wireless. The location is easy to get to town & other attractions. The sites were tight for big rigs - a few branches had to be trimmed. They have a place to wash rigs and cars. Good gift shop, nice TV / internet lounge. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Mostly a cleared lot but trees surround the clearing, providing some shade. Pay to shower, some cable channels, and no wi-fi. You can access the internet for $20 for 20 minutes on a desktop in the Park Office. Park was okay but would hope for better. I had to take a back-in because the pull throughs were all taken. It was tight getting into the spot with my combined length of about 54 feet. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We drive a 45' motorcoach and this is one of the few facilities in Whitehorse that can hold us. No dust in this campground (a major plus in the Yukon). Excellent wi-fi, water, sewer, cable for $30. Small campground, and a bit tight, but very doable. If you have a big rig stay here. Same people who own the Klondike Rib and Salmon BBQ restaraunt in downtown Whitehorse own this facility. Restaraunt is a home run. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The worst park I have ever been to. We called in, said we had a 45' and the owner said we would fit no problem. We showed up, struggled to fit into one of their two available sites, asked her if we could move to the site by the motel, she refused saying it was not available for rent for motorhomes, and refunded our money. I think the reviewer who gave it 10/10 must be the owner or a friend of the owner because this place is terrible and you cant park a motorhome by the motel. These pull-thrus will not work unless you are < 30' long (because you must pull in from the back of all the other coaches with minimal clearance). The site she tried to put us into you must pull in (and back out). For this reason she should not have taken the reservation. We have never had difficulty getting into a spot (even though we are a 45' motorhome), because of two reasons. (a) i have lots of experience, (b) i have never had a park lie to me about their accomodations. If it was an employee lying to me, that would be one thing. But since it was the owner, you just have to AVOID at all costs -- there are much better choices. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Owner is very nice and the campground is very clean. However, there is quite a bit of road noise from the Alaska Highway. Sites are very tight so you need to watch your slides, and no awnings are possible. WiFi was down more than up. The water is on a well system and has a very bad odor and taste. We camped here in a Motorhome.
By far the best park in Whitehorse. Small so best to call for reservations. You are still jammed in side by side but with only 11 others - not 150. WiFi is fabulous - not so at the other parks in Whitehorse. Leanne, the owner, is by far the most helpful and nicest person at a campground that we have encountered on this trip. She is a new owner and is making major changes to the park. Try to get the spot next to the motel - the view is awesome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
SARDINE, can you say SARDINE. We came in a caravan, we had a 5th next to a class A and there was less than 6 inches between the bottom steps. Can you say SARDINE. Wi-fi was clueless while we were here. Very dusty place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very tight spaces. WiFi is a joke. We stayed here twice. The first time the WiFi was slow but staff said they were working on it. Two months later it was the same story. WiFi slower than dial-up. Nice RV wash and good discount on gas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
There are two very different sections in this park. My heart sank when we approached this campground and from the road could only see the lower section. The lower area is ridiculously tight and jam packed with RV's in side-by-side hook-ups. The area is dirt with a few trees near the road and we were told that the Wi-Fi will reach these sites. The upper area is treed with nice, some roomy back-in sites that have water, electric and cable but no sewer or Wi-Fi. We had site #118 on the upper level. It was level, deep and shaded with good cable stations and decent spacing from neighbors. There is a room near the laundry that you can use to access Wi-Fi. Gas was reasonably priced with the discount for campers and the park has an RV wash and a place for oil changes. We'd stay again in the upper area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our full hookup site was a little tight with bigger rigs on either side of us. WIFI worked only part of the time as too many computers on at one time. Cable TV reception was spotty first night and lost the second forcing me to share neighbours cable source. RV park has 3 cent per litre discount at their gas pumps for registered guests. Laundramat has old machines not all working. Friendly knowledgable office staff. Overall good value, but I would have spent a few bucks more for better TV and WIFI. Rate shown for 15 amp power. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here on our way up in May, and now again on our way home. Even in the lower section, the road noise wasn't that bad. Guests of the campground get a 3 cent per liter discount on fuel. Will stay here again in the future. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This time we stayed in their free dry camping area. (I put "$1" in the Nightly Rate box because this web page would not accept "$0".) It's on the bluff above the park. It is an open area with great views, much less highway noise than down below, and clear shots for our 32" Dish Network antenna and our traveling companion's DirecWay Internet dish. They even let you use the dump station and fresh water fill for free. We had to spend a week here, due to my friend's RV breakdown. We offered to pay to camp here because this dry camping area is intended for overnighters. They refused to take our money. What great people! We have stayed in the full hookup section of the park on previous visits and would recommend it or the treed water/electric sites further up the hill. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good cable TV and wifi works well. Next to the Alaskan Highway, but quiet at night. Big rigs can get in and out with ease. Fuel is available with a discount. Good rig wash. Pleasant people in the office. There are several caravans that stay here so reservations are a good idea. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park has two extremely different sections. Down below in a crowded gravel lot, along the side of the road, there are full hook-up sites. Above, in the trees, are water / electric sites in a beautiful setting. The park has some nice features. Their RV wash is on a cement slab, unlike all the others I’ve seen on dirt (mud) and the water is hot. They have a pet wash room where you can give Fido a bath. Their WiFi is free and works pretty well. They can do an oil change for you or you can do it yourself for free if you buy the parts from them or you can do it yourself with your parts for $5; all on a nice cement slab, no laying in the dirt. They sell gas with a discount for campers at a very competitive price. The park is 2 miles from town. We'll definitely stop here on the way back to the lower 48. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
