This is a county park. Many shaded and partly shaded spaces. The spaces are the largest that we have seen, over 65 ft wide. Lost of trees and the lake is within view of almost all spaces even the ones not on the lake front road. Spaces are fairly level used one 2 inch block on wheels. Quiet, the beach, sand, is only a few yards away and can go out into the lake or fish. Tents are allowed. Water is good but pressure is low. Town is 14 miles but nothing much there besides restaurants, Historic Light House and a very good museum of local lore and items near the marina.
We really like this place, Mom and Pop operation. Not fancy at all, right on the water. Boat launch and dockage. In town. Many activities in the area. Will return in future for a season. Accepts PASSPORT AMERICA. Owner likes recycling, has a trailer all set up for it with many separate bins!
Nice and secluded and quiet. Very wooded, mature tall trees, deer roaming the park. Good sites with hard gravel, fairly level, easy in and out. Would definitely return. Never saw a park ranger nor host.
This is a local DESTINATION; lots of people all the time, hundreds per day to do tubing on the river. Pull through sites are not really pull through, as in you must BACK OUT of the site; you cannot pull all the way through if all spaces are taken and then only shorter unit can pull through as the land is a steep slope down. Yes, this is confusing as are the hookups; you must pull strait in so that the utilities are on the left and you then must back out. If you back in the utilities are on wrong side. Showers are somewhat clean if you use the ones AWAY from the day use area. NOTE: I have been to two hog callings and a turkey shoot and never seen COIN OPERATED SHOWERS, but that is what you have here. Dump station is hard to get to. Lots of cars parked around it as this place is full of day use people everyday. Potable water is good.
Many spaces are not level side to side and front to back, used many blocks to get level (almost all that I carry and I carry a lot). The sites, as I look around are severly uneven and are also rutted. Many RV's are using cinder blocks to level. Little gravel at the sites and the roads are rutted. We note that they stress the dog rules are strictly enforced, we do not have dogs nor cats. The electric hookup are FUSES not breakers. Would not stay here again. Note: there is a pool that appears clean and well kept, a minature golf course and a play area for kids. Sites up front are close to the highway and have a lot of noise; not so toward the rear.
Super shady all sites. Entrance road is badly washed and rough. Absolutely no Verizon coverage for phone or air card. WiFi reportedly will work at the cg office 50 yds away from sites. Tried everything to connect. Big rigs can get in but will brush against tree limbs as we watched a big DP come in and leave. This is bare bones, but the essentials are here. Very wooded and shaded as mentioned. Don't expect much and you will be satisfied. The worst part is the appearance of the entrance, looks like a roadside bar, complete with neon beer sign and a neon "Open" sign!!
Owners could not be more helpful. Showers and rest room are brand new and private, you lock the door. Meeting room and laundry are under construction. Very close to state park areas and interesting towns with a lot of history. We would come back. Oh, lots of space and the individual sites are 70 ft long and set on an angle to the roads. The hose bibs are well off the ground as well as the electric outlets. A nice touch. Nice walking in the stream on the rocky bottom. The stream runs the length of the park and is shaded by numerious trees.
About the water: you can ask for a site with water as many have it, or at least share it with a nearby site. A nice place and a lot people use it, particularly locals. We would come back. The lake is fantastic and just about all, if not all sites overlook the lake and are within a 50 yard walk or less.
A number of the RV sites are not level, had to use two blocks high on one side of unit. NO shade. One set of shower rooms are private, that is you lock the door. This park is NOT at the race track, it is 5 miles from it. All stone drive and parking, no concrete.
Larger, really large spaces with a lot of space between sites. Large shade trees throughout the park. NO restrooms nor showers. Got a nice golf course adjoining. Close to town, not walking distance. Eat at SNOW WHITE'S GRILL it is downtown. Good Eats. We would return.
If you like seclusion this is the place. We could not even SEE the RV next to us as the trees and brush is that dense, great. Each site has a fire pit and picnic bench. Showers are a short walk away and we saw a sign for washer and dryers. Would definitely return. We were there the Monday night after July 4, and there were only a few RV's here. Park has a large swimming pool and good looking rental cabins: would be a fine place for a family reunion. Trees are so dense it's difficult to get XM radio!
Large shady lots that are wide and easy to get into, in most cases. Cruise around and find a spot that you really like. Clean everywhere, with nice lake access. Toured the other parks that are nearby. We will return to this one. Water, potable, is very good. Oh, it's not far from Batesville dirt track for car races.
Nice setup. We are here on several HOT DAYS and I mean hot and very humid, No problem with the electric. I am sure that every rig had all a/c's in high gear. The drives and parking area are crushed rock I would foresee no problem if it rains.. We will come back. It is but 1/4 mile from I-45 so it is convenient to travelers. CCC
Cleanest public restroom and shower that I have seen. Lots of shade trees, we are in the new section but the old one is right next to us and is fine. Has new brick and concrete pavilions near the lake and has easy access from camp ground. This NICE park honors the Golden Age program.
Nice park, has a lot of shade. It's heavily wooded with trails in the woods. Lake is a few yards from the camp sites. Strange that the numbers on the camp site do NOT face the direction from which you come in. Must have someone go ahead and check the sign post, to make sure that you do not pass your site. While here, without your camper take the "wrong" road out, the one opposite the exit turn, it is a fantastic ride in the country. Too narrow and too much low overhang for the rig. Drinking water is passable.
