If you are coming to New Orleans for a couple of days and especially want to see the French Quarter, this is the place. It is a beautiful park with full amenities and large sites. The staff is outstanding and very helpful (always had a dog treat ready). The only down side is the close proximity to I-10 and that noise, but it is tolerable. The other concern is the location which is next to a public housing project. The RV park is shielded by an 8 foot wall with decorative razor wire. Coded gate entry/exit. Felt very safe. French quarter is a few blocks and easily walked or biked to during the day, at night a cab ride cost between $8-$10. All in all a great place to stay for a short visit.
For a place to park and walk across the parking lot to get to the casino, it is great. Clean and well taken care. There are no amenities except for the every 30 minute shuttle that will pick you up and carry you to the front door of the casino. Good for what it is and little else.
Great State park that is far from the highway and in a very beautiful setting. Great sites with full hookups. The river beach is great and it is just a nice place for a night or for a week. We stayed in site #5 and it was a very wide concrete pad.
We stopped for one night. Access from the highway is a steep rise and you may drag your rear bumper or trailer. The park is fairly large with many large pull through sites. Some shade and some open. It is an older park and it really shows in the shower house. Toilet tank lid missing and the signs of age like rotted wood, missing paint, and broken shower heads were evident. The single biggest problem with this particular campground is the horrible smell coming from the local paper mill. This could be a real issue for someone with respiratory problems.
Stopped here on a return to Florida from Ohio. The campground is easily accessed, clean, and well maintained. You have the option for pull throughs almost anywhere in the park. The facilities were clean and well maintained. Good sized dog park. It was quiet and the full hookups and free wifi were an added bonus. We would stay here again.
We found this park quite by accident while looking for a place to stop for the night. We arrived at about 5:30 PM. Staff was courteous and helpful. All sites are on the lake and are very well kept and maintained. The showers/restrooms are clean and easy access. Some sites are a little uneven due to the hills the lake is on, but nothing jacks or hydrolics can't handle. Nice quiet and very beautiful campground. We would stay here again.
