One of our favorite places that's not too far of a tow. Wooded, wildlife, golf, lake, and close to quaint antique shopping nearby. Having full hokups at every site is a big +++. Have stayed here countless times and have booked 2 yrs in advance for holiday weekends.
Perfect family camping. Books quickly, so reserve in advance. Most sites have large, well built wooden decks, all have fire rings and tables. Just enough trees to shade and wildlife to make neat woodsie noises. Everyone is friendly and the place is immaculate. Close to Pontchatoula antiquing and loads of neat shopping. Would go there every weekend if I could.
This place still has "migrant" workers living there, and it's poorly kept up. Hard limestone gravel areas, very little grass and tiny spaces. For the price, don't even think about it. If you want to stay overnight on your way off the interstate, go somewhere else, it's not even good enough for that. The Putt Putt was over priced and not kept up at all. Will never stay here again.
We have stayed here twice before and loved it! No, it's not wooded, no it doesn't have the "amenities" that Parks have, but it's so peaceful and spacious. We prefer the overflow section because we can watch the horses being exercised and groomed, and have tons of place to BBQ or turn our RV's opposite each other to face our awnings together. Our kids live nearby so it's an inexpensive place to stop and visit with them.
