This place is certainly adequate for a quiet place to spend a night or three while visiting the area. The good: extremely handy off I-10, quiet, extremely friendly and helpful owner/managers, clean and recently updated restrooms, showers, laundry, strong wi-fi signal, strong water pressure. The less-than-good: sites are gravel with quite large limestone surrounded by grass so not much nice patio area, not much landscaping or shade, and no pool. If you had kids, they will be bored to tears. If you just want a good place to hook up, run by great folks in a clean environment, this is your place. Seafood tip: find your way to Joe Patti's in Pensacola. It is well worth the trip. We go there several times each time we are in the area. Buy your fresh bay shrimp and they will cook, season and ice them down for free, and send you on your way.

Fort Wilderness is the park by which we measure all other campgrounds. There is so much good to say about this place. Just know that although the price is high, but you do indeed get what you pay for. It's a wonderful place to stay, and we always want to stay longer. The only thing keeping me from giving them a 10 is that they still do not offer wi-fi at your campsite. You can at least take your laptop and get a wi-fi signal at 3 different locations in the park, for free, which is an improvement from the past. Another nit-picky thing, the sinks in the restrooms are the motion-activated type, with cold water only, so for the guys it makes shaving a tricky challenge. These are minor things and overall we love camping here and will surely be back again.

A great park with spacious concrete slabs, picnic tables, and nice landscaping. The improvements made to this park are relatively new (in the last 2 years) so the vegetation is still growing, but it's very nice. Excellent pool, strong wi-fi signal, strong water pressure. Nice touches: fish cleaning station, fenced dog-run area. Right across from public beach, so very handy to the water. Pet-friendly beach so our dogs enjoyed the sand. Speaking of dogs, be vigilant with flea control on your dogs as the word around the campground was that fleas are terrible there this year. They are bad everywhere this year, so not necessarily a strike against this campground. The person who checked us in was very friendly and helpful, offering suggestions for area attractions and so on. We highly recommend the seafood gumbo at 2 Al's cafe, a very short distance from the campground. For the best shrimp, hit Captain Snook's in East Point. Don't waste your time with the Fish Camp, where the food is OK and the service is lacking.

We have stayed here numerous times. In contrast to a previous reviewer, the roads in this park are in excellent repair, the park is extremely quiet and there are plentiful big rig sites that will accommodate even the largest units. This park claims to be pet friendly, and while they do have designated pet walk areas, they are along the highway in an area that is the last place you would want to walk your pet. We were scolded for having a small dog pen in which we could put our two dogs while we sat outside the motorhome. We used this same pen at least six times in the past with never a comment, but this time the park staff was particularly grumpy about it. Overall we like this park, but are disappointed that it's not more genuinely pet friendly, and wish the price wasn't quite so high.

We stayed her primarily out of convenience to downtown Fort Worth. This is the main reason to stay at this park. It is nice enough, full hookups and strong Wi-Fi signal. If you have pets, there is little common ground to walk them however the neighborhood offers sidewalks and yards in front of businesses that are closed in the evenings for that (always pick up after them please!). Some spots are shaded, others not.

This is a nice state park with spacious mostly-level sites and lots of shade. Lots of walking trails and other activities including a swimming pool. Be aware that there are many wild/feral cats roaming the park. Maybe that helps keep the rodent population in check, I don't know. We also spotted coons, armadillo and many deer. Some deer were quite friendly. The park is not well lighted at night so make sure you have plenty of flashlights. One big negative was the fire ants. Our poor dog got covered up with them while on our nightly walk. There were also ants - lots of them - in and around the bathhouse. So much that my wife wouldn't set foot inside. I mentioned this to park staff and they said they would have a ranger address it, although the problem persisted throughout our stay. Another bummer with this place is there are no sewer hookups. Overall a nice state park and we would stay here again.

If you are looking for a nice, quiet place to spend the night, this is your place. The name pretty much says it all - a nice campground in the middle of a meadow. No other real attractions to the park, although that wasn't important to us. We just wanted a nice place to stay with full hookups and this was great. Campground owner took our reservation and was very friendly and helpful. He also operates the tire store in Mt. Vernon so if you need tires, give him a call. He was kind enough to help us with an issue with our motorhome at the shop before we departed the next morning. Sites are mostly level, gravel. Full hookups. Our cable TV connection was very poor. A previous reviewer commented on the lack of hot water in the bathroom, which we experienced too. However, after telling the owner this, he promptly attended to it the next morning and adjusted the water heater up so I'm sure it's fine now. The bathrooms are EXTREMELY nice, new, clean, modern. Perhaps the nicest bathrooms we have ever experienced at a campground. I would certainly recommend this to anyone needing a place to camp in the area. Price paid reflects Camp Club discount.

What a great RV park - clean, well maintained, nicely landscaped and here's a big one: Shaded! I say that, even though our spot only received late afternoon shade, but most sites in the park have significant shade, a big plus for camping in Texas. The hosts were polite and helpful, and we had an escort to our campsite who pointed out the hookup locations and other info. The perimeter of the park is reserved for long term campers, however the inner section is for shorter terms stays. They do offer "Presidential" sites that have improved landscaping, lighting and a gas grill. Those sites are more- $42 I believe - while our site was normally $36 however we paid $18 with Camp Club membership. The bathrooms are extremely nice, clean and well maintained. Our only real significant complaint was the stickers that our shoes drag in ended up all over our carpet. Our poor dogs ended up limping several times from picking them up too. We must have camped near a patch of them as I didn't see them everywhere. Wi-Fi is available in the park however the signal comes and goes. Overall we were extremely happy with our stay. We have family in the area so we were thrilled to discover this gem in the middle of Arlington.

This park is part mobile home park, part full timers, part short term campers. Portions of the park are well maintained while other parts are quite trashy. If you have pets, watch out for the goat-head stickers - they are everywhere. The dog run is simply an areas along the highway, not exactly a nice place to walk your dog. We hooked up to cable thinking and drove ourselves crazy trying to figure out why we weren't getting any channels and found out later they have no cable TV service. The bathrooms were modern, clean and fairly new. This place sufficed since we were desperate for a place to stay and nothing at. The Vineyards was available on this weekend. We would stay here again if nothing else was available, otherwise, probably not.

Fort Wilderness scores our first "10". This is just a fantastic park on so many levels. Beautifully landscaped, nice level concrete sites with picnic tables. There is plenty to do inside the campground to experience Disney without even visiting one of the theme parks. One deciding factor for us to stay here is the campgrounds pet-friendly policy, which allowed us to visit the parks while our two small dogs snoozed in the motorhome. You can visit any of the parks in the morning, come back to the motorhome for an hour or two and let them out, then go back for the afternoon quite easily. A previous review complained about the fireworks upsetting her dog. To that, I would say that first, we could barely even hear the fireworks at our campsite, and second, Disney always has, and hopefully always will offer a free fireworks show at the end of each day. There where plenty of places to walk our dogs near our campsite, however it was a fairly long walk if you want to take them to the official off-leash dog park. It would have been nice if there was a parking area next to the dog park for those of us camping farther away. My only gripe is that Wi-Fi is not provided free. It is becoming a basic thing at many parks, and I would think Disney would follow suit, but alas, not. We stayed in the full hook-up area, which was the least expensive. Upgrading to another area for a bit more just gets you closer to some of the campground amenities, but with bicycles it's easy to access anything you need. If you have bikes, bring them! You will get a lot of use out of them. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here upon the recommendation of some friends, and the proximity to The Villages. This park has many park model units in place for the snowbirds, as well as many spots for folks traveling through. Our site was a concrete pad with some shade. We were here after most the snowbirds had flown back north, so they were doing some renovations to some of the facilities. I walked up to the front desk to officially check in at 10:30 AM Monday, since the office was closed when we arrived over the weekend. The lady who "helped" me was a tad cranky because I didn't come in the office by 9AM. Alrighty then. The cost for camping here seemed a tad high for the facility, but we would probably camp here again because it's handy to The Villages.

We stayed here because of the proximity to Cape San Blas, and the fact that the beaches in Gulf county are dog-friendly. It was great to take our two small dogs for walks on the beach, just be aware that the beach is not as large, nor as nice as what you might find farther West in the panhandle. The sites are pretty basic: just a level place to park with full hookups. No picnic table. All crushed shells / sand. Many folks talked about the great Wi-Fi. I can't concur, as our connection dropped often. The only real reliable Wi-Fi was in their little lobby / lounge area. Nice and handy fishing pier. It's a decent place to stay for what you pay, however the lack of a picnic table and a few other amenities that you might typically find in other campgrounds keeps me from giving it a higher score.

Wow, what a wonderful state park! We give this place our highest rating. I suppose the only thing that might we might have wished for is being a little closer to the beach. As it is, you take the park's hourly tram on the .7 mile path down to the beach. It's a nice walk, but may be a bit far for those who don't wish to walk that far when and don't want to wait on the tram. There is no Wi-Fi available in the park anywhere, so getting online is out of the question. But there are otherwise full hookups. The sites are just beautiful with vegetation around most campsites to give the camper the feeling of seclusion. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We planned on staying here for one night and ended up staying for three! We are already planning our return visit.

We chose to camp here based in part by reviews on this site. It is a very well kept park, very clean facilities and new (I believe it was built in past year or so). All sites are level, with nicely groomed limestone pads. The "waterfront" sites that they offer for a premium price were really not worth the extra money for us, as those sites are simply on the water channel that runs on the back side of the park. We opted for the lesser expensive spot that was just a few spaces away from the premium spots. Kathleen checked us in and was very friendly and helpful. In fact, everyone we came in contact with was nice, with the exception of "Ron" who harshly warned us that we were in violation of their policy to not have any dog pens outside of our RV. We had set up a four foot round pen for our two Boston terrier dogs to be while we sat at the picnic table. I understand the policy which is to prevent folks from leaving their dogs unattended outside their RV but good grief. Other than that, we give the place high marks and would go there again, if it were not for the fact that we discovered Henderson Beach State Park and Topsail Preserve State Parks which are, in our opinion, a better value and also have a bit more relaxed attitude regarding pets.
