I got the only site available with full hookup, sewer: a rarity in state parks. This park is supposed to be a fishing lake attraction but the water is so low the park was quiet. We had a nice, back in site (38 foot rig) with covered picnic area and looking out to the desert, lake and dam. We spent 4 nights enjoying the area with day trips to Artesia, the Caverns and some hiking. Carlsbad isn't much to look at as a city, liked Artesia better. We didn't have internet at the park, not even Verizon MiFi, ATT cell service worked, satellite TV worked and we had a few ABQ on air TV channels. Left for ABQ taking 285 N to Roswell then 380 to Socorro I-25. It was a gorgeous ride through incredible mountain scenery and interesting small towns.

We stopped here on our way to Albuquerque, just to ease our way back into a city after lots of state parks. This place is great in that its well run, nice office and sites. Being NM, the grounds are all dirt but sites are landscaped with trees and bushes, all pull through. We are self contained so I didn't use the bath or laundry. We have satellite and got regular network channels from ABQ on air. Their WiFi is good, but we also used our Verizon MiFi for extra access. Lots of areas for dogs to walk but some stickers around. Owner is a dog lover/rescuer, so some old dogs wander around, but I liked that part being a dog lover myself. We were in the first aisle close to the office, and it was very quiet with no highway noise. Ended up staying almost a week as we found good hiking and exploring after getting on the net. Rate was Passport America for unlimited nights, a great deal.

This price reflects Passport America, good for 2 nights. Park is clean and well kept and right off Highway 180, 15 miles north of Deming. Turn right and go a short drive on a wide gravel road in good condition. Park is very pet friendly. Well behaved pets can be off leash with owner present. This is a country setting with cattle ranches around. A nice get away from I-10 and city stuff. We enjoyed driving the country roads and the City of Rocks State Park is close by. City of Rocks is a must see park of incredible rock formations. The owner of this park was extremely attentive and helpful. If you're on your way to Silver City, this is a good stopover. We used our Verizon air card for wi-fi. Cell phone worked.

This park is convenient to San Antonio, about 15 minutes easy driving on I-35. About 10 minutes away on interstate to a good market: HEB. It is as others said, down a long bumpy road but we just went slow and it was worth it to be out in the countryside. The sites are on grass, and set in a wagon train circle rather close together. Wi-Fi worked fine, but is restricted when you use it too long, so it slowed down later. We used Passport America for first night at $17, then a 15% discount was offered for 2nd night. We had a pull through space, as I said, very tight for a 38' rig with slides but we fit. Owner was extremely gracious and helpful. We didn't use the facilities. It was a great price for a stopover in a beautiful city like San Antonio. We would come back. Great area for pet walking, lots of open mowed grounds to wander around.

We got the Passport America rate so a definite value there. It was easy to find and get set up. It seems well laid out and Wi-Fi is better than most, so far. We'll stay one more night on PA rate. We camped in a 38' rig and didn't use the baths or laundry. We will stop here again if passing through Las Cruces. Pets liked it because there is plenty of walking along the walled borders, and no stickers on the ground. Not a camp to spend the winter, but perfect for traveling through Las Cruces.

We were promised Wi-Fi and had it sporadically for the first night and then it went off. I was told at the office they didn't pay the phone bill, so no service. This is an important criteria for us, so we had to leave the next day. Sites are very close together. If you're just traveling through, I guess it is okay and the location is convenient, but it is low on appearances. It does have some nice grounds for walking your pets. We would not return unless nothing else was available.
