This is a nice campground if you are at the races. Full hook ups, friendly staff, very organized. The newer section is a lot more roomy and nicer that the old section. Wish we stayed in the newer section. Very cramped and hot in the older section. Quiet at night even at the races. Would not stay unless a race was scheduled as there is nothing to do within the campground itself. The cost is very expensive during events. Wish there was more grass in the camping area, nothing but gravel.
Letchworth State Park is huge. If you are in a motorhome do not forget to tow the car. It is a long way from the campground to the pool and hiking trails. I have not been back to this campground since I was a kid. I forgot how beautiful this State Park really is. We will definitely return!!!
This is the largest campground in the Thousand Island area. There are various campsites to choose from. If you are in a tent or a big rig you will find a site to suit your needs. There are wonderful sites with views of the river that are walk in only. This was our first visit to this state park, and it was a great experience. We did not like the site that we booked, and the staff at the park had no problem relocating us. The views of the river, fishing and boating are tremendous in this area. We will definitely return.
Stony Brook State Park is primitive, there are no hookups to speak of. This park is gorgeous. The man made gorge trail is beautiful. The pool that is in the gorge is awesome - cold but awesome. This would be a ten if there were some sort of hookups. Book in advance if you are going on the weekend -
This is a great park for children. We pulled in on a Friday night and left on a Sunday and I only saw my child when it was time for dinner or when she needed more money for the arcade, or when we checked to see where she was. The sites are not private and I got the feeling that the seasonal people did not like weekend people invading, and that the manager did not like his job very much. Other than that the rest of the campers and staff were very friendly. They are in the middle of construction for a waterpark which looks like fun. We would return, but it would not be for more than a long weekend as the arcade and some of the activities are quite expensive.
Great campsite if you have kids. The heated pool was wonderful, and the kids loved the jumping pillow. You can catch a train to Fantasy Island that runs from the KOA. The staff was very friendly. The only reason this is not a 10 is the sites are very close together and there is no privacy. The pull through sites in back are close to the expressway-would not suggest those sites-but all the others were OK.
Boy, oh Boy, the hills! If you are in a motorhome, and do not have any other form of transportation, be prepared to climb and walk quite a distance to get to the main entrance and the pool from your campsite. This is a beautiful place to go and hike the gorge trial. Watkins Glen International Speedway is close, and we could hear cars practicing when we left on Sunday. Campsites are varied in size you can park a big RV and use a tent so call or use the website prior to booking a site. Nice and quiet even when crowded.
Hamlin Beach is a older park that need a lot of updates. The sites that are equipped to handle bigger RV's are in the open. The other sites are somewhat private, but not very big. There is a path that leads through all the loops which looks to be a bike path. The bathrooms need updating but were clean. The campstore was well stocked and the staff friendly. There was a storm coming in and the ranger warned us of possible high winds in advance. The beach was disgusting, with garbage everywhere, I will not return to the beach unless it is cleaned up significantly. This park brings back memories for my family as we grew up camping here. Our June 2008 trip was a let's go back and see kind of trip. I am not sure that I will go back again, unless it was for a quick weekend.
Cedar Point is a great campground if you love to boat, fish, and swim. The sites are not private at all so if you want privacy this is not the place to be. The beach area is somewhat small, but did not have a problem picking a spot for a couple of hours of basking in the sun and swimming. The bathrooms are in need of updating and a serious spider cleanout. The recreation room is great and lots of activities for the younger kids. The staff was very friendly and so were all the campers that were there. Weekend are alot busier than the weekdays. My three daughters ranging from 17-5 love it there and are begging me to stay for a week next time we go. I would say that the only downside to this campground would be the lack of privacy everything else was top notch.
