$14 rate is based on $410/month. We're full timers and we had spent several months boon docking and staying in "remote" campgrounds (30+ miles from a city with major stores), when we decided that we wanted to be closer to a decent-sized city. We made our reservation here for the month of February and enjoyed it so much, we extended through the month of March. While there are not lots of planned activities here, we enjoyed walking in the desert, taking photos and going to the movies. Lots of good restaurants and the major stores nearby (Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Michael's, etc.) Was there dust (as previous poster mentioned? Yes, on the 3 or 4 windy days we had. Are there snakes? Yes, but we didn't personally see any. (This IS the desert, after all, and caution is always advised.) The CG is nicely laid out and the long-term sites have plenty of room between them. You'll hear some interstate noise and an occasional train. If you want Wi-Fi, you'll probably have to go to the office, as the signal is kind of weak. (I used my Verizon card.) We'll probably spend another month (or two) here next winter.

The $10 rate is Coast to Coast; I believe their Passport America rate is $13.50. We had planned on being here one week, but had to extend that for 3 nights because of rain. This park needs a bit of work. It was raining when we arrived and when we were supposed to leave, and the dirt roads have lots of potholes. There was so much rain that it flooded a spillway that goes over a concrete section of a campground road, which made it necessary to go in/out of the campground via a back road, which was more mud and potholes. If you're here during a dry spell, though, you'll be OK. Sunday morning, a very good breakfast is offered at a very reasonable price. There are lots of places to walk your dog and we saw several deer and an opossum. There are lots of workers here, but they seem to be in one section of the campground. This campground can accommodate small rallies, as there is a huge section of water and electric sites that they didn't seem to be using when we were there. The folks at check-in were friendly and helpful. Halstead has some nice little restaurants, but you'll need to go to either Newton or Hutchinson for a WalMart. We'll definitely return here because it's a decent quiet campground, at a very reasonable price.

We've stayed at this CG many times and (other than a brief dusting of snow once) have never had a bad experience. There are a handful of workers here, but they are at one end of the CG. My husband likes to play a round or two of golf and I enjoy him being out of the house for several hours (LOL). The sites are level and roomy enough. We didn't use the laundry this time, but previously, it could have been a bit cleaner. There's plenty of room to walk the dog (around the edge of the golf course), and there are no annoying "sand burrs" here that stick in the dog's feet (and our shoes). The little town of Guthrie (Oklahoma's first state capital) is quaint and interesting, with gift shops, antique stores and a very historical drug store. There are trolleys to take you around town and there is even an occasional staged gunfight (get a brochure to see when and where). There's also a saloon where Tom Mix was once employed as a bartender. So don't miss the historic downtown area it's well worth the 4-5 mile drive from the campground.

We stayed here 8 nights and feel it is kind of pricey - especially since other than sporadic wi-fi & a small playground, there are no amenities. We made the mistake of having our mail forwarded here (after checking with the office first). On the day our mail should have arrived, we learned that no one in the office actually knows when the mail will come, as it depends on when an employee has a chance to drive into town to get it. Many of the "permanent" RVs have junk under and around them. One man (a CG employee) has a very aggressive dog tied outside, on a long chain that allows the dog into the roadway next to the dog walk area. We were fortunate that this barking, lunging dog's collar didn't break while we were walking our dog. Another "permanent" rig has pit bulls, so apparently the aggressive breeds are allowed here. Next time we're through this area, we'll try a different campground.
