My only problem with this place is it isn't a resort, it's an RV park. The majority of the sites were great, we did not have one of those sites. If you stay there ask not to be given one of the sites near the entry, they suck. All the other sites a little further up the hill look great, ours was #48 and it was a very poor site. Also the Wi-Fi is very poor, but it does work well from the lounge.
We really liked it here! Even though the RV spaces are gravel they were very level, and very large, lots of grass and space to spread out in. Our space backed up to the water and we had a great view. There's a path to Kissing Rock Beach and its an easy walk to get there. The owners and staff were friendly and very helpful. The staff kept the park very clean. We plan on coming back next summer and staying longer.
When we first pulled in I was very disappointed. Gravel roads and the RV pads are just two strips of cement. Some sites have small patches of grass, put their covered in charcoal from many campfires. Apparently no one cleans the sites and the remains of the fire pits end up all over. On the good side it was very quiet despite there being lots of kids and tent campers. The Wi-Fi worked fine but we couldn't get cell phone service. I would stay here again for a short stay because its halfway between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Casper Beach is a very nice small beach and just a short walk.
Read the fine print, NO SEWER HOOKUPS. Don't believe the nice looking website, this place does not look that nice. We did not feel safe enough to leave our dogs alone during the day. No one checks to see who is supposed to be here, people come in during the day to get to the river and park in any vacant space and set up. It's very rustic, if you like to dry camp you might like it here, but if you like amenities, this isn't the place. Won't stay here again.
Spaces are dirt, narrow, un-level; cigarette butts, litter and remnants from campfires in every site. No one cleans the sites after people leave. Dog excrement is everywhere, no one seems to care about picking up after their dogs. Quiet hours and the one car per space rules aren't enforced. The people who work here, and I assume live here, don't seem to care. We never saw anyone cleaning up the entire 4 days we were here. If you have kids and like to let them run wild until midnight, this is the place for you. If you want a quiet get away, this isn't it. Next time I'll stay down the road at Pismo Sands.
Great RV park! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Sights were large, some gravel, some cement pad depending on what you want to pay. Gas BBQ and fire pits available at each sight for small fee. Great place to stay and go wine tasting. Our dogs also enjoyed their stay!
