This was our second stay here and we loved it. Robert, campground owner, was on hand for the entire weekend and was really a great guy to talk to. Bathrooms, pool, recreation hall and the sites were all kept very clean. Water/electric sites towards the back are on some pretty narrow roads, but certainly reachable with caution and common sense, some of the pull thru hook-ups are out in the open but plenty big enough, lots of full hookup sites with shade. They had lots of events for the kids and as in other reviews, the staff was more than friendly. Very close to all the Gettysburg attractions.
A small older campground right on the Susquehanna river. There is a nice town park aside of the campground with a playground, field area and skate board park, which is the number one draw for my two boys. The staff is nice, the pool is small but clean. We didn't use the restrooms here; they need to be updated. They have a lounge that is open to the public. It's not the ideal campground, but my boys enjoyed the location and we've had very nice people in the sites beside of us. We've stayed here two years in a row for Memorial Weekend and will most likely be back again next year.
We arrived after 6 and check-in was a bit backed up but very pleasant ladies behind the counter with a wealth of information. The road to our site, bit narrow but certainly doable and our site was great. Overall the campground was very clean and employees were very nice. They had activities for the kids, though we only did a few. And the location was just right to tour Gettysburg. It was too cold to use the pool but we'll be back next summer to give it a try.
There were only two reasons the campground did not get a 10 from me. 1) The main attraction for the kids, water park/pool area does not open until 11 a.m. Opening that at 9 a.m. would be a great change that i heard among fellow campers especially since that is part of the reason for a higher nightly fee than most campgrounds. The "pillow" did not open until 10 a.m.; which within one hour is HOT to little feet. Same with the pedal carts, not open until 10. My suggestion would be open these earlier. 2) Spelled out in their confirmation email was a policy that stated NO firewood of any kind was allowed to be brought into the campground due to the boarder ash ban and any brought in would be burned by staff immediately. OK, that's a valid reason. However, upon arriving I was told that I could have brought that my own firewood in being I'm from within the State. At $7.50 per small bundle, this was a bit much and I feel their policy could have been clearer. Otherwise, pool, sites, restroom store were all very clean. Staff overall was very friendly and helpful. And per the kids, we will be back next year.
This is a small campground. Upon arrival we met friendly staff, with a guide to our site, who offered to drive us back after dropping off our second vehicle at the visitor's parking area. Campground overall was very clean. Pool, bathhouses, and playgrounds were all well kept. Nine hole mini golf is available for a fee with an hour of playing time. Two hayrides were offered; the first one being free around the campground and the second was $3.00 per person but out on the country road and very enjoyable. The only reason it did not receive a 10 was due to the Gun Club in the next valley. There was shooting all day. Compared to the list of what's allowed and what's not, this probably should be included in the "Just so you are aware" category, similar to the freight train at Hershey. It is something that we got used too, but for others perhaps not.
Our family enjoys this campground a great deal. Plenty of activities for the kids such as swimming, game room, playground area, basketball, volleyball, horse shoes, fishing, frog pond, nature trail, movies, music. Candy bar BINGO is a favorite and for the kids only. Facilities are always clean, staff is very friendly. Check-in is easy.
Liked the layout of the campground as it was nice and flat for us to ride our bikes. The kids loved the lake/beach area which was very clean when we were there. The playgrounds were nice and clean, well kept. The cartoons were a nice little extra. We didn't do the crafts, minigolf, boats or paddle boats as they were all extra money. Pool was supposed to be heated but I'm certain it wasn't on or working cause it was like ICE. Our only major complaint was that we were not happy about our site, it was a pull-thru and you were pretty much right on top of your neighbor. I complained about how much room we lacked. It wasn't really even safe to have a fire at our site. The ring was 2ft from the picnic slab, which had a bolted table so you couldn't move it, and 2ft from the other side was a tree. They only offered another site that was on the very opposite of the park and being we were there with friends and that wouldn't have worked. They offered no other sort of compensation at all. We probably would not do it again because it was a bit expensive and were not happy about the lack of assistance with the site problems, but if the kids insisted I MIGHT consider it but I would certainly have a different site location.
We've stayed here at least 3 or 4 times in the last two years. The bathrooms were very clean each time. I don't care for the sites down on the other side of the pool as they are VERY close together, but the others are great. We try to request the same 2 sites each visit. The kids love it there. Their Halloween weekends are wonderful. The majority of the campers have some decorations out & they pretty much all give out candy to all the kids. We try to find CG's that are geared for them so this one works very well. We even brought home a 100lb pumpkin one year for my son guessing the right weight! I did read some unfavorable comments regarding the owner. Not a personal experience, but the 2nd time we were there, a camper with his trailer knocked down a small part of a retaining wall near the gate & were requested to pay $300 to replace it. The guy spent the weekend fixing it himself instead of paying for it. Can't say I'd blame him.
