This is our 4th year here. Rate includes 3-mo discount. They are growing VERY rapidly, but the amenities are NOT keeping up. Don't heat the pool till mid-Feb. No mail service - have to rent a box in Florence (10 mi round trip). If you put down a deposit, after you arrive they can sell your lot, and if your section is full, you can end up in the new area which is far from the activity bldg. If you need to drive your car to the activities, there's very little parking, so you have to rent a golf cart. Very few group activities -- most are pot lucks -- almost NO entertainment, and if there is, it's a repeat from last year. We won't come back again. Sad, as it's a beautiful park.
We have been camping here for about 15 years and think it is the BEST campground in KS for the money. It's only 6 miles off I-35 and 30 minutes to Topeka. They recently added 50 amp electric to loop C so that makes B & C with 50 and A has 30 amp. We like that if it rains (even heavily), it's dried out the next day. Nice paved roads and trails for biking. Good fishing both on the Outlet Pond and above on the reservoir. Sunday church services in late spring through early fall. Nice pavilion for Rally's or Reunions. Rates went up $1 this year, but with Senior Pass you pay only 1/2 price. Some sites are a little unlevel, but we've not had a problem and we're in a 40' motorhome. Some problems with limbs in the sites below 98 in B loop. We've usually just backed in the pull-through if there's a problem. Great campground for kids: has 2 playground areas now. Also a separate pond for swimming. Free with camp pass.
This is one of the prettiest parks we've ever stayed in. All sites and streets paved, with patios, picnic table and individual trash containers. Shuttle every 15 minutes to a HUGE casino with excellent entertainment. "Chicago" was there on our night. Had a promotion that your first night was FREE. Park was easy to locate (Exit 1 off I-35). Casino was very nice (except for smoking allowed) and had a least 5-7 restaurants inside, two hotels and were building a multi-story parking complex. Would be a super nice RV Rally location. Also had a very nice picnic inside/outside pavilion and two laundromats.
We were given one of the 26 short-term sites and they gave us incorrect directions, so we were parked going the wrong way and couldn't use the sewer hook-up. Also very tight turns going through this park, as they have lots and lots of trees. It was very quiet and quite full, so must be a popular spot. They couldn't give us 2 nights or we would have probably stayed longer. Quite a ways from city of Austin (30 minutes or more). We would probably not stay for that reason, as we were visiting friends and family.
This park was OK for a couple days, but the pads were grass and we tracked mud and grass all over the RV. Cable was on 12 channels, but did get the 4 major networks well. Only real complaint was they didn't have any city maps and little info about the area. Wouldn't probably return to this park.
