Gouldings is a well organized and well run campground. Reservations are a must in season. The pull-through sites were easy to access and plenty long and level. Not much shade, but some. Not my preferred type of campground, with sites within feet of each other and no separation. However, it's the only game in town and it's good at what it does. Good Internet access.
Rifle Gap has multiple loops. We stayed in Sage, which is basic only with no hookups. The rate includes a $7 a day park fee. Full hookup sites are $8 more. We had Sage all to ourselves and just dumped and filled in the morning at the dump station. Very large, level, pull thru sites, with decent separation. We overnighted here and would repeat.
We overnighted here and really liked this park. Very nice, large, level, paved sites with good separation and shade. This park reinforced why we love state and NFS parks. Most sites are electric only. Only a few miles off the interstate. The restrooms, sites, roads, and pads were in excellent condition. We and would definitely stay here again. We even fit in a 10 mile bicycle ride along the Missouri on the parks trail.
This campground is a decent choice if you want to stay in Beckley. We should have followed the sign to the campground directly onto Ewart Street and ignored the sign saying No Trucks. There are no impediments to big rig access on this road; although, the entry and campground road is tight. We enjoyed the coal mine museum and tour. It was OK for an overnight, but next time I would probably choose a campground in a state park or national forest.
Regarding earlier comments, RT 211 is a typical canyon area entry road. it has some steeper sections, but is fully paved. We had no problem getting here in our 39' motorhome. We had a nice spot in front of a bluff with lots of separation. This is dry camping, no hook ups. There is a water station where we filled our tank. The campground loop has some ruts, but go slow and they are fine. It has great access to the needles section of Canyonlands NP. Bring a jeep or be prepared to hike to enjoy the Canyonlands. The lady is a bit flaky, but we got along just fine. Good Internet access at the camp store but not from your site. We would stay here again. Cash only, no credit cards.
We used this as an Interstate stopover.. All sites are back-in, but plenty long and level for big rigs. It's right on the North Platte, bring your fishing rods. Minimal shade. Water is only directly available to a few sites and are really communal water stations for all. You have to pay a park fee in addition to the camping fee, which is included in the rate shown. A little hard to find, the road signs are minimal. We would stay here again.
Lynnville Park is a local county park which is mainly a fishing, family, small lake park for area residents. Full hookup sites are pretty close. Electric/water sites have more room, but the pull throughs barely accommodated our 39' motorhome plus toad. Site was very level with a gravel pad. We only paid the primitive rate of $10 a night since we didn't hookup. This was a nice interstate stopover. We would stay there again. The sites were a little too close for our tastes, especially the full hookup, hence the slightly lower rating.
Devils Garden is your only choice if you want to stay in Arches. It is 18 miles into the park, at the very end of the main road. Reservations are needed. We stayed here in late September and the park was full. The sites are gravel, fairly level, but short. Our site required that we have the back end of the motorhome over top of the fire pit in order to get fully in. (no fire that night!). Generators are restricted to 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening. The hosts were very congenial. We stayed here in a 39' motorhome. Rated lower due to the length issues of the site.
This park is located on the south side of the city, high on a hill with great views. Sites were nicely level, with terraced patios. Separation was about 20'. Very nice clean facility with easy access and friendly staff. Internet was very slow and difficult to connect. Otherwise, we enjoyed our overnight here and would use it again.
OK. First, no hookups. In return, you get lots of space between sites, typically 100 feet or more, good shade, campfires, all the things I love about NFS campgrounds. The trailer sites inside the Grand Canyon park are very close, almost no separation, and no trees. The other commercial RV park is also tight with little vegetation, if any (we drove through it). Ten-x is about 6 miles outside the Grand Canyon, but well worth it. The toilets were the cleanest pit style I've ever seen and didn't even smell. We would definitely return here. Our reserved site was not very level, but the very nice campground hosts moved u, even letting us go the wrong way on the loop to get the patio side towards the picnic table.
This was a great park for overnighting on I40. The staff was friendly, Sites were level, shaded, close. It is next to the airport, but we didn't notice anything during the night. Internet was very slow. Its right on the east edge of town. We saw the ones on the west side as we left and were glad we made this choice. Those are farther out and not shaded.
Nice, clean park with lots of privacy for each site. Our site was clean and raked prior to our arrival. Large, level, shaded, gravel pads. Our site was right next to the lake. Look over the sites when reserving and it's easy to find the ones on the water. We only stayed here one night, but plan to return for a longer visit to Nashville.
This park is right next to the entrance to Mesa Verde. It is very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The sites were mostly level, gravel, with some shade trees. No campfires are permitted, but they provide two nice propane pit fires with ample seating for friends, available to all. A nice heated pool and two hot tubs are available as well. It is very close to the main road, but the road nose was minimal. We would definitely camp here again. Large pull thru and back in sites. Internet was slow but worked. We stayed in a premium back in site with good shade. The large pull through sites have no shade. Nice clean laundromat.
