This place is great, particularly for the price. As others have mentioned, it's not common for a city park to have Wi-Fi, but hopefully it's a new trend! I would have given the park a 10, except that the Wi-Fi had a low signal. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is decent.
The staff at Big Spring RV were very nice, friendly and helpful. The river is incredible, and you can jump right in the river from the RV park, where you can rent tubes if you want to go tubing down the river. The bathroom/showers were clean and safe. It's about a mile walk into the town of Van Buren if you need to do some grocery shopping.
If I could rate it a "0", I probably would. This place was a dump, and I did not feel safe here. I went to St. Louis to see a concert (and I don't have a dinghy), so I had to park as close to the city as possible. I would not recommend this for anyone (and especially not a family) unless it is absolutely necessary.
There are so many great things about this site. First, the staff - always friendly smiles and a warm welcome. Second, it's close enough to walk to a lot of interesting historic attractions. And if you don't feel like walking, you can take the trolley for $1 Monday through Saturday for a tour around historic Independence, MO. The trolley comes by right outside the RV park about every 20-30 minutes, and it's as convenient as it is entertaining.
