Nice, quiet campground in the woods. It is not a luxury park. The site we stayed on (305) was uneven, and we couldn't use our awning because of trees. It was shady so we didn't really need it anyway. They have doughnuts and coffee every morning as well as other activities. The bathhouse does not have AC. They do provide a shuttle to the attractions to the park, but we didn't use it. We enjoyed it, and will most like go again.
We just stopped over for the night at Magnolia. It was a pleasant experience. The pool was nice and clean. The kids enjoyed it. We ate at nearby Joanna Cafe, which we enjoyed. They serve country style food and burgers.
We have stayed at Ocean Lakes several times over the past few years. It is one our favorite! The amenities are great, especially for kids. There are always activities going on to keep you busy. There is a restaurant, store, laundry mat, and entertainment galore; no need to leave the park. They hold a church service every Sunday. We attended and enjoyed it very much. The beach area was much more crowded this time than on previous visits.
We loved this park! We enjoyed the landscaping with privacy from our neighbors. The ponds were great for fishing. There are wonderful places to walk or bike. Close to shopping and restaurants. Be prepared to walk a distance to the beach or be on time for the tram that runs every hour on the hour. Bring a wagon or cooler on wheels to take your stuff to the beach. No Wi-Fi, but we heard it is coming soon. We will definitely go back.
Nice facilities, especially for kids. The office is inside a gas station: weird. Our first site was not level so we moved to another one that was much better. Sites are not paved so when it rained, everything was a mess. Overall, a nice place to spend a few days while site seeing in Charlotte.
