Staff has been accommodating to our request to stay an additional 3 days during a high season. Nicely laid out with wide roads and easy sites to either pull thru or back in. Has 2 swimming pools, one seems to be for small children. Nice laundry facilities. General store and restaurant are in same building as the office. Also has Exxon gas station on premises. Easy to walk to the trolley stops. Some seasonal people with nicely decorated and maintained sites. This is our second stay here and would return again. Also has free wifi.
This park accepts Golden Buckeye Card discounts. Discount are less for weekends than weekdays. This is a beautiful park with 63 acre lake, boat docks, numerous hiking trails, a mountain bike trail, archery area, and the largest inland beach in Ohio. We did not have reservations so were given a choice of a few sites with electric hookup only. You definitely need to make reservations far in advance if planning on full hookups. Our campsite was level, grassy. There was adequate room between sites. I was told by another camper that the restrooms and showers are clean and well stocked. Water spigots are close by; however, you can not hook a hose up to spigot. All in all, this is a very nice state park.
We picked this campground because they offer Passport discount. Our first site was 190. When we went to plug in, we found a note on the electric box stating that the 50 amp was wired wrong and to "use at own risk." A volunteer who is also an electrician came down to check out the problem. Bottom line is there was significant power differences in the 50 amp plug. So, we moved to space that was next to the beginning of that electric circuit. Space is very awkward to get into due to pine trees and not even close to level! However, the electrical connection was better and more stable so we stayed. Campground has a lot of seasonal campers, and a lot of kids. The hiking trails are nice. The surrounding area is interesting so we are planning to spend the week here. Staff in the office are helpful.
We enjoyed our stay at this campground. Yes, the road in the park is rough. We were told that it had been fixed in the spring but a torrential rain washed it out. We were in space #1 which washn't exactly level but workable. We enjoyed having a free daily newspaper, being able to order a lobster dinner daily if we wanted, being able to hike in the woods and being close to Bath ME. Staff was friendly and willing to find out information they didn't know. We stayed two extra days because we enjoyed area so much. An added benefit was all the free apples! This campground had been a orchard at one time.
