We used this park over a very busy weekend in the St. Louis area. I always just drive by this park but now wonder why. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our site was a little tight to back into but I have seen worse. They do have more that a few fulltime folks but everything appeared to be kept neat. Pool looked real inviting, wish I would have brought my trunks. The BBQ restaurant on property was not as good as KC BBQ, but not bad either. They also gave a discount for staying in park. We will return for sure.
Great value for the price ($13 for one night w/Passport America). Nice 18 hole par 3 golf course for $5.00 a person: pay at the honor box. This campground is currently for sale as the 90+ year old owner wants to retire. We'll definitely be back!
Regular rate is $25 a night, but $20 with a casino player's club card. Running a promo through 9/1/10 with first night free, so we stayed for 2 nights for $20! Had a long pull-through with hook-ups on both sides so you could choose which direction you want to go through. Our site was perfectly level. Staffer who checked us in, put us close to the shuttle stop. Very friendly and great security. We'll definitely return!
I see what the other poster was talking about. The RV next to us forgot and left his sink on. I saw water coming from under the trailer and shut it off. Told the female host so she could contact owner. When he came back to campground, he quickly found his error and corrected it. The host proceeded to ridicule him saying he could run the well dry and he should pay closer attention. She then told him to put water in his tank and he would not be allowed to hook up to the water. She just kept going on and on about the well going dry and his spilling her water. Also the Wi-Fi is poor. They have a note up saying the area business are complaining of the band width use of the campgrounds. It must be all the full time campers that have taken over part of this park. We won't stay again.
This is a wonderful park, has a fishing lake in the park with handicap access. Water is, or appears to be, 1 spigot per 2 sites so some sites require a long hose. Fire pits and picnic tables are on concrete pads.
Nice campground, sites are a little narrow but OK. They had lots of rain and hook up boxes were in standing water. In fact there was water standing everywhere. I will stop again this is a great overnight stop and not a bad destination.
The worst thing about this stay was we only had one night. Although I think I will go for just the electric site $18 instead of the full hook up site next time. This place is one of the nicest National Park Service Campgrounds I have been at.
Stayed 2 nights at this park. Everything seemed to be well kept. Has some long-term sites still from the hurricane. Staff were friendly, and only problem we had was finding the dumpster seems they have it back where the caretaker or owner lives. You can't pull back there while hooked up. It does need some TLC as things seem to be well used (sewer caps missing). I would stay again. The photos on the web site need updating but they are not far off.
This campground is OK but watch out for the extra charges. If you want 50 amp - $, if you are going to use your AC - $, and so on. They did have great WiFi but I was in the site closest to the hot spot. Trains and highway were very loud most of the night. I don't think I will be back at this one.
Everything appeared to be very nice. We only spent one night but it looks like this place could get very packed in if they use all the hook ups. It looked like they used the grass area between each site as an over flow area all the sites around me had room for 2.
Priced a little high, although this is not a water front campground we had water outside our door. In fact most of the sites were flooded after a rain. That the sites had water after the rain was not bad but most of them were still holding water the next morning and all the utilities were in standing water.
Although the sites were plenty long, the turns were very tight with a ton of trees every where. Had it not been that this campground was almost empty I don't think I would have got out with out damage to my rig.
