We cannot write enough good things about this park!! We were on our way to Mt. Rushmore from Yellowstone, we had to find a RV park to stop at overnight. My wife called ahead and talked to the owner and when she hung up, her first comment was "What a wonderful, wonderful man!" We got there late (about 10 or 11), but he waited up for us. He gave us a bottled water for everyone in the RV, and he led us to the pull through site. The park was beautiful with big mature trees; immaculately clean park, showers - everything was pristine! I had to leave early the next morning and he was in the office at 7 sharp, ready to go. It was a wonderful experience, even for a stopover - actually a memorable experience on our 2-week trip! Thanks so much to the owner for his kindness and help!
The setting was stunning - in the canyon, by the river. The sites were a bit cramped - slightly difficult to back into. The sewer connection was WAY in the front of the site - had to pull the RV up, dump, then back into the space again (I guess I should have a longer hose with me!). The on-site "resort" - challenge course, zip line, bar and grill - and the staff were AWESOME!! The on-site rafting company - Rock Gardens - and staff were AWESOME! Downside: the owners/RV park staff in the front - a couple of them were very curt, uncaring, not helpful; one was downright rude to another renter checking in (it was very uncomfortable to witness, actually); laundry facilities were very limited - two washers, two dryers for the whole resort, and one set was out-of-order! in summary - if we could separate the rating - "10" for the "resort"; and "7" for the "RV park".
This was a late night stopover, head out early the next morning, so we had very little experience here. It is close to the highway, yet quiet; Birds EVERYWHERE in the morning hours (wonderful); big, pull-through spaces. All in all, a great place to stopover.
This is a wonderful park - VERY well maintained by the state parks system. Showers/bathroom were very clean, but you have to pay quarters for them (75 cents was enough, I think!) Big, pull through sites, quiet. For the proximity to the city, and for for the price, you can't beat the park all the way around! We would definitely stay here again.
OK: you have all the expanse of Yellowstone, and they stuff over 300 sites into Wal-Mart-sized parking spaces. I understand the "minimal impact" and all, but there was plenty of room for Xanterra stores and such. Everything we experienced seemed to reveal a concerted effort to keep as many people out of Yellowstone as possible, but that's another story. It was almost impossible to back our 41' RV into the space; it overlapped the other RV spot behind us. There had been two wooden pilings at the back of the space at one time, but they had been knocked over a while in the past. We had to ask the guy behind us to move his truck up a little so we could fit into our space and get out of the road! The mosquitoes were HORRID!! The showers were clean, but extremely inadequate for the number of sites, and at a price of over $3 PER PERSON PER SHOWER: Ridiculous! The only redeeming quality for this park is the proximity to Yellowstone Park: period. We would NOT stay here again.
Wonderful, wonderful RV park! Grounds were stunning, heated pool, basketball, big playground for the kids. It is a big park, actually, but it was very quiet, relaxing, and safe. Yellowstone Park should model their RV park after this one!! There is a breakfast every morning that is wonderful: all-you-can-eat pancakes!! We would love to come back and actually stay longer!
We only stopped here for an overnight on the way to Yellowstone, but have to say that it was one of the cleanest RV parks we have ever seen. Yeah, it has a large "parking lot" appearance at first, but there is a pride in their park that is very evident. There are decorations everywhere that my wife loved (!), and the restrooms/showers were wonderfully clean. We would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful Park! We stayed in one of the riverside RV sites - the river was beautiful; the scenery was unbelievable! There is a picnic table area where the hummingbirds fly all around...beautiful! The showers were clean; the park was quiet. All in all, we would love to come back here!
