Whatever you do, DO NOT stop in this park. I have been camping at KOA's since the 60's and this is a sad pathetic park. The managers are rude and nasty. We opted for the KOA promise that you can get a refund if you ask for it in less than an hour. I have never been so disappointed in a KOA in my life. We almost got charged $27.00 because she accused me of writing down the Wi-Fi code and didn't believe me when I told her we hadn't even opened the rig yet so there was no way I could have used it. NEVER AGAIN! There are other parks in the area.
Absolutely beautiful park! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. We just stumbled in after a disastrous encounter at the KOA in this town and were so grateful for the beauty here. If you are ever in this area, STOP here! We have camped at hundreds of parks all over the U.S. and this is one of the best!
You have to remember when you leave NM there is not a lot of options until you get to San Antonio on I-10 going east. It is an adequate place to stay. We have stopped through many times and this time the cafe was open (2nd time out of 8 stops). They do dinner and breakfast. They installed a 'booster' or something so the wifi is MUCH better than the last time we were here (July 2010). Cable is OK, water pressure awesome. Spaces OK, just grass but not piled on top of each other like a lot of parks. I just wish KOA would reduce their prices as they are the most expensive of all parks. I guess the free Wi-Fi and cable contributes to that.
This is one of my favorite KOA's. It has spacious sites and great Wi-Fi and cable. The owners are awesome! I would recommend anyone stop here overnight or even for a few days. There is a cute little old town that reminds us of life gone past. Everyone is very friendly! Of course between the border of Texas and San Antonio there is not a lot to choose from, but you should CHOOSE this one! Yes, it is a little more spend y but worth every dime!
We literally stumbled into this park when my husband was not feeling well. It is a nice new campground with very friendly hosts. We were able to pick our own space. Instead of Wi-Fi (which is always spotty in these mountain areas) they have ethernet. They do have cable although only 27 channels. We would definitely recommend a stay here. We were able to use the pool and hot tub at the hotel next door. Nice and quiet!
Very disappointed, expected better from a KOA. Their book says 'cable - yes' I do not consider 12 TV stations to be cable TV. Also the web site offered sites that were upgraded in fall 2007. HUH? This campground hasn't changed a bit in as many years as it has been around. You know when you drive in and there is NO OTHER RV's in it, you are in big trouble. We will NEVER stay here again and have crossed it out of the KOA book. I am also writing KOA to voice my disapproval. All of this for $39.00? No thanks!
This is a really beautiful park as far as looks go. It does have WiFi which requires signing on every time you want to go on line. The speed bumps are deal breakers to us. There is about 15 of them and they are awfully hard on the rig. They have no cable TV and due to the amount of huge trees it is hard to find a signal for your satellite. Several people just gave up while we were here because they couldn't lock on. It took us several hours, but we finally got locked in. WE find it expensive ($675/mo) for what is offered. The water pressure is very low also. The cement pad pull throughs at the back of the park are nice and wide but require going in and out over all the speed bumps. They have a captive audience because they are the closest RV park to Charleston. If you love live oaks with moss and don't mind speed bumps, stay here.
Well, we sure wouldn't come here again. The roads are terrible with HUGE ruts that almost buries the tires on your 5th wheel. NO WiFi and cable TV is available but it is very basic. It is over 2 miles off I-10. The only plus they had going for them is awesome water pressure!! It has a big 'X' in my Woodalls and Trailer Life books, and a "never again" in my personal logs! I think it is mostly monthlies who live here year round.
We accidentally stumbled into this beautiful park because of a typical Florida afternoon rainstorm. It is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are impeccable. The laundry room and bathrooms are incredible. If you ever get a chance, be sure and stay here! It is 5 years old and the trees are still growing, but the layout it awesome. LOVED IT!! Wish we could have stayed longer. And the price was unbelievable.
Compared to some of the reviews, we were very disappointed with this park. For this amount of $$ we expected much better. The "lake" is full of algae and nothing to look at. We camp at a lot of KOA's and can't believe this one got the President's award for 2009. We are trying to figure out: FOR WHAT? Live and learn and make your own decisions, and don't accept others!
This park used to be halfway decent but it is really going down hill. The roadways are horrible, full of potholes. They desperately need to re-gravel or spend some $$ and asphalt them. The concrete on most of the spaces are pieces of broken concrete. We did notice that the 'monthly' campers had concrete pads that were obviously redone. Usually, the over nighter gets the best spaces, but obviously here it is not the case. We won't be stopping there again.
Nice park. Typical mobile home community with some RV spaces. We arrived at the busiest time of year (12/29). They have lots of activities for seniors (horseshoes/bingo/shuffleboard/swimming/etc.). My complaint is we needed to do laundry and four loads of laundry cost us $15.00. You have to use a card that you pre-load with $$. If you don't use it all, you can't get a refund. Office staff are very nice and friendly. We paid extra for a river front site but it was marred by a neighbor with his truck and boat parked right in front of the 'river view'.
We are KOA campers, but we will never stay here again. The people were anything but friendly. We are VIP KOA campers but they stuck us out in no mans land (grassy flat) right beside the storage units. To add insult to injury, we were also located next to the dumpsters and I know none of you are going to believe this, but at 1:15 am, they came to dump the dumpsters. Between the lights and the beep beep beep backing up signals, we had a less than a desirable night. Thank goodness we were just stopping over for the night, but I would drive another 100 miles before we would ever stop here again. All this for $50? I don't think so!! I just wish KOA would post real people reviews of their campgrounds on their website. We have been at many that we absolutely loved. We have been at a couple we will NEVER go back to again. We are full timers and just go hither and yon and don't have to be anywhere, anytime for any reason.
