We love this campground, especially the river sites. It's in a beautiful setting, with a lake in the middle and the river running on both sides. Sites are large and the park has great entertainment on the weekends, and a restaurant and well stocked store on site. The only downside is that Cherokee needs a serious "face lift". The only thing to do there really is the casino, and that's not for us, so we wish a good restaurant and some other entertainment would be added to the area. Yes, there's a museum in town, and the outdoor drama, "Unto these Hills" is excellent, but we've seen those more times than I can count. So, for a quiet weekend, this is a great destination. For more than that, I think we'd cross the mountain and stay in the National Park.
We weren't crazy about this campground. It was clean and the folks were friendly, but the bathrooms were too few for a campground this size. We probably would have been happier close to to the beach, but having never stayed in this area before, we didn't know what to expect. Overall, it met all the needs we had, but don't think we will stay here again.
We've stayed here several times. Love the large sites and it's a very clean park. We were a little disappointed this last time, the bathroom near us was closed for renovations the entire 4 days we were there, but this wasn't mentioned to us when we made our reservations or even when we checked in. The game room was also very "hot" - no fans or a/c and a sign on the door said the "door has to remain closed at all times". Otherwise, we really do like this campground & would definitely stay here again.
Stayed here in August. Nice park and very convenient to Pigeon Forge activities. Our only concern was the entrance into this park. It's in a very sharp curve, with a blind spot. It would be helpful if the park or the county, would put up a mirror so you could see oncoming traffic, or at least a big warning sign - we almost got hit turning in once! Would stay here again.
