For an overnight stay, this is a great campground. I did not smell sulfur nor hear a train while we stayed here either time. We stayed here last year on a trip. I would recommend them for overnight stops anytime. The only reason I say overnight, is I cannot envision anyone wanting to stay in Vernon, Texas as a destination.
If you are an Elvis fan and want to see Graceland and all the Elvis sights in Memphis, this is the place to stay. It is definitely in easy walking distance to "Graceland" and all the tours associated with it. Not an "end run" place, but a great stop over to tour "Elvis". This is the only place to stay. The sign for the place is really hard to see. We missed it and when I mentioned it to the manager, she stated that she gets this all the time and is trying to get corporate to fix this. However, when you see the sign for the "Heartbreak Hotel", her sign is below it and it is time to turn into her drive. Loved it, had a great time.
Talk about a gem of a campground: 200 acres with a 30-acre lake on the grounds. Although the road from I-40 to the campground has no shoulders and is quite curvy, it has a low speed limit and has some gorgeous homes to look at on the way in. This place is absolutely beautiful. The new owner is working extremely hard to make this place perfect and is close to accomplishing that. Her Wi-Fi is presently under construction and already, way back at the other end of the lake, we got her signal, good and strong. She was not yet ready for me to get on line, but very close. Fishing is available on the lake. There are picnic areas, cabins, a children's play area, a lake swimming area: just an amazing campground. If you are looking for a quiet but very active campground, this is it. We decided to make this an end point trip. We will be back for a week of laying back in the woods, and enjoying life.
For our purpose of visiting the Gatlinburg area, this campground was perfect. It is located right on the highway, and we were out by the highway. However, noise from that was negligible. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were helped from disengaging the tow vehicle to backing in the site. The staff stopped by to check if all was well after we were settled in. Some sites were close together, and some were like ours, very roomy. Seems the bigger rigs were given the roomy sites and the smaller rigs the smaller sites. Sounds right to me. I would definitely use this park when I return to Gatlinburg. One of the nice features are the shuttle cars which stop right outside the park and take you to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for 50 cents each per direction. Can't go wrong with this.
This is a really nice park, with a friendly staff. Our spot was a back in, but backed in right up to the beach. Not much shade, but concrete pads. The pull through spaces were aligned so as to have a difficult time getting shade from your rig. But other than that, it was great. Stayed 7 days and do intend to go back.
This is one of the cleanest RV parks I have stayed in. Has everything from an indoor pool to a daily drop in kennels for our loved Pomeranian. It features a train ride to the South rim of the Grand Canyon and a cowboy show both before leaving and on the train itself. It is located on the old Highway 66. Williams is in walking distance and is really a unique place. I highly recommend this park.
