This park is in a lovely setting, the bird life is fantastic. We saw at least five to ten different species from our campsite. The bathrooms and showers are in good shape and very clean. Although, I didn't use the laundry, it was clean, roomy and new. The gravel sites were well spaced. I wish there were more shady sites. It was over 90 degrees and hard to take in our little non air conditioned trailer. I wouldn't say it's a great park, but I'd happily stay there again.
This park is in a beautiful setting a mile from the road with a juniper forest on one side, a lovely reservoir on another, and verdant grassland everywhere else. The sites are spacious, level, and shady. The abundance of wildlife, especially birds, is thrilling. The owners obviously care greatly about their property and go the limit to share its natural splendors with you. I couldn't believe our good fortune in finding this gem.
This is a small, well located RV park overlooking the famous Virginia City cemetary. Luckily we're here in the low season and were given a slot with no neighbors. Otherwise it would be uncomfortably close. The bathroom block includes four separate rooms, each with a toilet and shower. Showers are free. Though the facility is older, the rooms and fixtures are clean. In the middle of the night on my trip to the bathroom I ran into some wild horses...a lovely interlude. My only real disappointment is that so much junk is being stored in the open. This gives the place a junkier appearance than it deserves.
Regarding services, this is a typical provincial park, but it's a jewel. This is my first time back in over 30 years, and it's as beautiful and forested as I remembered it. The campsites are huge and separated from each other by native vegetation. And you're less than 30 minutes from downtown Victoria and a short drive o the Butchart Gardens. How cool is that! It's quite crowded in the summer, but after Labor Day it's a and peaceful haven.
This is a very basic RV park, not especially attractive, but I liked it and would stay again. The setting is beautiful, and we really enjoyed seeing an abundance diverse bird life. The bald eagles were spectacular. The office staff was friendly and helpful, the restrooms and showers were relatively clean. They should up the cleanings to twice a day at least. Many of the other guests are regulars from VI who come to Cluxewe to get out of town for a break. They were all very friendly and welcoming to our California convoy of three small Scamp trailers. You're close to Port Hardy, Port McNeil, the road to San Joseph, and the ferry to Alert Bay. We were here for three days, but I could have stayed longer.
Location, location, location. An outstanding setting. Even though our campsite was away from the gorgeous beach, we could walk there in a few minutes. You get the feeling that management is resting on its laurels (superb location). Our three campsites were unclean and unkempt. The campsites and the road leading to them were cramped making it difficult to back in. The washroom/showers were dark. Only one shower was available, the water wasn't hot enough, and it was relatively costly. I felt ripped off; but that said, I might stay here again because of the location.
This is an exceptional property, beautifully maintained and managed. The owners and manager have high standards and deliver a quality product. Our only problem was with a very weak and intermittent Wi-Fi signal. One other thing, the washroom/shower block was quite far from our site. I would have liked at least a toilet closer to our end of the campground.
It was the end of the season, and the park seemed run down (a sign of the times for state parks?). It's in an appealing woodsy setting. The tent camp sights are more attractive than the RV sites which appear to be not well maintained. The restroom/shower closest to the RV area has been recently upgraded. You need tokens for the showers. But that said, we enjoyed a peaceful stay and I would return. The location provides excellent access to Mt. St. Helens.
The RV area of this state campground is in a lovely setting on a hillside overlooking the lake. It's a beautifully designed RV area with clean restrooms and showers, a few miles away from Hwy 5 noise. This is one of my favorite campgrounds. Because we travel with a small trailer (16'), we could have stayed in the larger general campground without the hookups.
