We paid extra for site 38 and we loved it! One of the best sites we've ever had! Spacious and right on the river! This campground is very clean, including the restrooms. The owners are wonderful! We enjoyed several of the amenities: mini golf, game room, and the hiking trails behind the park. The drive into Gatlinburg is about 15 minutes, so you can be away from all the busyness of town and yet access it fairly quickly. There is some road noise from Hwy 321. It wasn't too bad at our site as were more towards the back. The only complaint our whole family had was that the showers have a push button so there is no way to adjust the temperature.
The owner is VERY friendly, attentive and cares about the people staying here! The pool was nice and a good size. Bigger than most campground pools. Restrooms were clean and there were several restroom and shower stalls. The laundry room was clean and decorated nicely. The jumpy pillow was a nice treat that even my teen and preteen enjoyed! If I were to be picky I would say that the landscaping seems to have been overlooked for a while, therefore I didn't give this campground a perfect score. An extra bit of information: Just down the road is a drive-in movie theatre. What a treat! Our girls got to experience their first drive-in movie!
We enjoyed this campground! My husband said it was his favorite one we have been to! Our site was in the Mountain View section. When I made our reservation I was disappointed that I couldn't get a site on the river, but we ended up liking our site. The Mountain View section was more spacious and was quieter. This campground has a great play area for kids and the tubing is FUN! You can tube by the campground or go up the road about 1/2 mi. and put your tube in at the National Park and tube back down to the campground! The National Park also offers great hiking and 3 wonderful waterfalls to see! There are MANY activities to do in the area! The campground rents tubes if you need them and the store is really nice. My complaints would be: The restrooms were clean but rustic. Our site was by the tube barn, and they kept the collected trash in the back of pick-up trucks by the barn. Every now and then we would get a "whiff" of the trash in and around our site. Some of the staff at the store are not so friendly. None of these complaints will keep us from going back though!! We had a great time!
This was a nice campground. Shaded sites, large pet area, clean bathrooms, pool, and river access. Easy to get to because it is right off of the highway. It is set back far enough though that you don't hear any traffic noise. Walmart is right down the street. My only complaint is that our sight was very tight. Our awning almost hit our neighbor and our slide was right next to our neighbors picnic table. I would not recommend site 18 for large trailers or RVs. That being said, there are some really nice spacious sites at this campground. W just didn't happen to get on of them.
What we hoped to be a relaxing weekend became stressful. We had site 344. We were looking forward to the ease of having a pull through site. This site however didn't have any level spot on it! We spent our weekend sleeping at a tilt despite all our best leveling attempts! The door to our camper was only two feet from the campground road that passed by. There was no place to set up chairs and we couldn't put our awning out or it would have been in the road. The picnic table was on the opposite side of our camper and there was no fire ring as advertised. When we voiced our complaints to the office they were of no help. When we tried to return our firewood that we had purchased (for our fire ring that we thought we would have) the lady at the store was rude. Overall, we had a very stressful and poor experience!
Wonderful campground! Very clean and well kept. Very peaceful and quiet with the exception of some road noise. Sites are level and not cramped which I understand is not the "norm" in the Gatlinburg area. The owners are very nice and friendly as well as the people they have helping out. I was impressed by the quick response I received when I contacted them via email. Most campgrounds that I email with a question take days to get back to me, if they get back to me at all! There's a great hiking trail close by: make sure you ask about it! The WiFi was a bit frustrating as it would go in and out. Overall though, I highly recommend Smoky Bear Campground.
Pros: Beautiful surroundings, concrete pad and deck. Cons: Picnic table needed to be rebuilt; site was tight to fit in - the vehicles and campers across the street are close and it makes it hard to maneuver (we were in site 19 and have a 30' TT); showers were cold and dirty; the owner could stand to improve her people skills. Overall this was not a good fit for our family and we will not return.
This park has awesome, large family restrooms. The showers are huge (it was nicer than the one I have at home)! They have a steam shower in the "spa" which was a nice treat! We started on a sight that was in the gravel section however there was LOTS of pollen coming off of the trees (Spring time in Georgia) and the sight wasn't very level so we asked to move to one of the concrete sights. This portion of the park is new and mostly no shade, but we liked the nice level concrete pad and the larger sites in this part of the campground. The pool looked real nice - it has a slide and a mushroom for the kids to enjoy -however we did not use it as it was not open yet. We would stay here again if in the area.
We are new to camping and haven't been to a lot of campgrounds yet, but my husband said, "This is the prettiest campground we've been to." This campground is in a gorgeous setting! There are streams running all through the campground and a beautiful lake. Yes, there are some "full timers" as others have said, but their sites are well kept and the people are friendly. Lots of fun things to do - we enjoyed shuffle board, miniature golf, swimming, and a concert at the bandstand and the girls couldn't wait to get to the good "old fashioned" playground that had teeter-totters and a merry-go-round (you never see those anymore)! Many sites back up to a large stream. Ours backed up to a small one and it kept the girls busy. My only complaints would be that they need more lounge chairs at the pool and the sites are close together. As others have stated there is a road that comes through the middle of the campground - we did not let our daughters ride on it without us. Most people driving on it go slow and are cautious but there are a few who don't. My recommendation is to stay on the same side of the road as the office. Then you can access everything by bicycle without going on the main road with exception to the playground and then you will need to cross the road. This is what we did - we were in sight 172.
