Beautiful resort and very convenient to the Isles of Capri and Marco Island. There are not a lot of activities; mostly party related during our stay. The only internet access was using the wi-fi in the clubhouse. Our site couldn't have been further from the clubhouse so it was not convenient at all. Most of the motor homes here are very high end but the owners and other renters were extremely nice. Each lot is landscaped with privacy and some shade in mind. There is only one usable shower for each gender as the second available shower is for handicapped use and the shower head is not adjustable at the 3 1/2 foot height.
As previous reviewers have posted, there is no shade in the campground here, however, this is one of only a few state parks with full hookups available. The closer you camp toward the water, the higher the wind velocity. It is not always an issue and you can view the lake quite well from a row away. Roomy sites with clean, newer restrooms. Great biking/walking trails allow trips into Monroe and through the migratory bird viewing areas. Good fishing and you can walk along the beach for a good distance. The picnic area is nearby with additional playground facilities. Staff was very friendly as were neighboring campers on all three of our visits. We like this park as a quick getaway and price. A full hookup is $33, but for a two night stay, we have found we don't need it. Dump station can take care of three units at a time, which speeds the departure process.
There are many long term residents in permanently placed recreational vehicles in this park. They make up a large percentage of the community. We were there in October so not that many were still around as it was past high season. All of the spots closest to the beautiful lake are reserved for the vacationer or shorter term visitor like we were. The owners/management were friendly and helpful, as were all of the residents we encountered. There are no gender specific restrooms. Instead there are ten separate rooms which include the toilet, sink, and shower. There is a curtain around the shower, however, at night the light is not bright enough to be of much assistance in the shower area. Site hookups were all in fine working order and the view from our campsite was perfect. We stayed in campsite #2. Their website allows you to see a picture of each campsite by clicking on the site map and number, which we found helpful. There is a very small beach area and a large area for boats. The Lake Leelanau area is lovely and this park is on our hit parade.
This park gets excellent reviews. I agree with them if you have children who can take advantage of the pool, batting cages, mini-golf, etc. The spaces themselves are too narrow to allow for a "10". You are out in the open with the next camper within a few feet if they use their entire campsite. People are friendly, kids are very active, and some rules are not followed (i.e., more than one vehicle at the campsite was pretty common, making it seem more crowded). We like a scenic spot. Although well maintained, it is not a "sit and drink in the view" type of campground. We would probably not camp here again.
Everyone was very welcoming here. The sites are gorgeous and the amenities are top notch. There is a Publix nearby with a good selection of grilling food for a relaxing time around the campsite at the end of a day at the beach. It is not inexpensive but we felt that you got what you paid for. We would definitely stay here again.
