This is a nice campground, but many of the sites are very difficult to negotiate if you have a big rig. We have a 36' 5th wheel and my husband is a really good driver (x-semi guy). He had a tough time. If you have a large rig, the only sites that will work for you are 12, 14,19, 20, and 21. The road in is very narrow, so that makes maneuvering even more difficult. Other than that, if you are not into hiking, this park has little else to offer. You are 1.5 hours from Ely and a fair distance from Lutsen and Two Harbors.
Other reviews of this park are accurate. This is a very clean park, very close to Deadwood. However, they are in the business of getting as many campers in this space as possible. If you understand this going in, you wont be surprised. If you are in the Deadwood area and want to enjoy the town (not the camping experience) this is the place to go.
First, it would be nice if the state of WY would update their campground information. The web page for this park says water is unavailable. In fact, water and electric are both very available. Second, it would be helpful if the state of WY would include a campsite map on their webpage showing the location and size of the campsites. Third, this reservoir had a terrible fire in June of this year so almost all of the trees are burnt. Lastly, the reservoir has been drained. All that said, I would go back but first I'd ask if there is water in the reservoir and I might wait a year or two for the vegetation to grow back.
