The country road leading to the campground is a very rough. After checking in, you are escorted to your site. If using one of the pull-thru sites, you have to circumvent the lake on a very narrow dirt road with some pot holes. The site was wide, long, & level and had no obstruction to satellite reception. The lake is encircled by seasonal trailers, some of which have seen better days. The owners are very friendly. Weekly rate was $180 plus electricity. Nice campground for viewing the Fall foliage as they stay open late into the season. We would stay here again.
This is one of the nicest public campgrounds on the east coast. The sites are level. There are plenty of pull-troughs for big rigs, and there is no problem getting satellite reception, especially if you let them know in advance that you have that requirement. We use a Verizon air card for Internet and got a strong signal. We stayed in the park over Christmas and it was fairly empty. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn’t care much for the speed bumps. This campground is close to anything you may want to do while in Charleston. Restaurants, shopping, and the tourist sites are all within easy driving distance. Diesel is available right next door at the Hess station with easy access. We will stay at this campground anytime we are in Charleston.
We stayed here for four days while transiting to South Carolina. The campground was well maintained. We arrived on Sunday when the office was closed. A call to the campground number brought help very quickly. Not only did they check me in, they opened the propane area so I could get my tank filled. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Short stays were parked in an area with many trees. All of the pull-through sites are 30amp service. 50amp service sites are all back-in. We had a 50amp site. While this site may have been wonderful for a 5th wheel, we had a horrible time getting our coach level. Our front wheels were off the ground. We also had a hard time positioning just right to get satellite because of the trees. The campground is convenient to US 58. We would stay here again.
